So please hang with me! It's gonna be a bit slow but you get to see tons of canon characters in this AU. I'm trying to set up where Chuck is. The chapters will also start to become longer. I'm just getting used to the Rhythm, but here's Chapter 2, please enjoy! Remember to review etc. Thanks so Much!
Chuck closed the door of Morgan's car with a thud.
"You hear about Fulcrum?" Chuck asked as he put on his seat belt.
"Yeah Bryce text me. it's pretty bumming to hear… On the bright side you should be buzzing! You were worried about being second string to Panzer for senior year. Now you'll surely be starting!"
Chuck sighed.
"Yeah, but I wanted to earn that position. Not just get it willingly due to someone turning over their spot for Fulcrum… Hugo wasn't the nicest guy but we'll definitely be missing him this season. The amount of clean sheets he had last season was insane. He gave me some pointers but… I still don't know if I can fill his boots you know?"
Morgan pulled up to a red light and turned his head towards Chuck.
"Chuck you definitely earned that position. You hear me. No one else deserves it more than you. Yeah Panzer was good but you're great."
Morgan continued to stare at Chuck for a good minute before a loud honk was heard behind them. The light had changed and Morgan, cursing, quickly pulled away in his small Toyota Matrix.
"Well I should also probably be congratulating you as well buddy."
"Why's that Chuck?" Morgan asked, confused.
"Well Panzer wasn't the only one that left. Tommy, Vincent, and Frank also left. Tommy and Vincent were part of the backline meaning that with their absence, suddenly your position is free." Chuck said with a growing smile, as he watched the realization slowly dawn on Morgan's face.
"Holy crap! You're right Chuck! Well now you definitely don't have to worry about the keeper position because you'll have me in front protecting you. Oh this is gonna be a fun season!" Morgan exclaimed enthusiastically as they sped towards Buymore High.
Once getting out of Morgan's herder, which they called it, as Morgan was always herding people from place to place due to no one else having a car. Plus the fact that they were broke teens. Morgan and Chuck quickly went to their lockers to drop off their football gear. Then headed for the front of the school where lines of other students could be seen.
Luckily since they'd come early, the line was short for the A-G line. Morgan and Chuck ate up their time chatting about how excited they were for the PS5, to how annoying FIFA 20 was, to which fictional characters from Pokemon would be the best striker.
"I'm telling you Pikachu would beat any other pokemon as a striker. Not only is he bloody fast but he's also physical enough. Plus no one could get near him even if they could match his speed because he'd just shock em." Chuck exclaimed passionately.
"Squirtle would literally destroy Pikachu, you're absolutely mental. No one would be able to get near Squirtle nor stop him once he starts spinning in his shell. Imagine a shell spinning at incredible speeds coming at you! I wouldn't wanna be near that. Literally UNSTOPPABLE!" Morgan stated, throwing his hands up in the air.
"Unless a Snorlax was in the way."
Both Morgan and Chuck whipped their heads towards the table giving away schedules. Chuck literally froze on the spot. It was her.
Jill Roberts. His first girlfriend ever. The one who'd broken his heart. The one he'd been trying to get out of his thoughts the entire summer. Of course she was working as a volunteer, and of course she'd caught him and Morgan in an embarrassing conversation.
"Especially if the Snorlax was in the goal. He'd take up the whole space and negate both Pikachu and Squirtle." Jill finished with a hesitant smile. "Hi Chuck."
Chuck was speechless. Not only had she heard the entire conversation it seemed, she had just addressed him. She looked extremely cute today too.
Morgan looked between the two as the silence started to become awkward. He slyly nudged Chuck, breaking him out of his stupor, and saving him from further embarrassment.
"I'm Good!" He half screamed.
Fuck, can I get anymore awkward than that. Chuck thought mentally smacking himself to an alternate universe . Sadly his mouth, as always, betrayed him.
"Why wouldn't I be good?! Yeah no it's been amazing, have you been good? You look good? Did I just say that out loud? Yeah I'm just gonna try and shut up now." Chuck finished lamely clamping his jaws closed, cursing himself.
Morgan looked at him shocked, while Jill giggled at his rant.
"I'm glad Chuck." She said with a small smile, as she started rummaging through folders. She then produced two pieces of paper.
"Here's your schedules. For you Morgan, and for you Chuck." She said smiling. "I was also hoping you could show this new kid around. It's his first day and who better to show him around than you Chuck?"
Chuck still berating himself for how much of a fool he'd just made out of himself, just nodded, not trusting himself to speak again.
"Great! Thanks Chuck. Cole!"
At the mention of his name Cole wandered towards the table looking like a Greek god to Chuck. He was tall, not nearly as tall as him, and extremely good looking. He was also very well built from what Chuck could see, from how tight his shirt was. He reminded Chuck vaguely of Bryce, and if he acted how he looked he wouldn't want anything to do with Chuck. Chuck could already see him being one of the 'Untouchables'. Instead of that negative thought, Chuck put on a smile and extended his hand.
"Chuck Bartowski. Pleasure."
Cole smiled and shook Chuck's hand with a firm grip much to Chuck's surprise.
"Cole Barker. Nice to meet you Chuck."
Chuck looked at Cole in surprise. Cole had a strong British accent. Of course this good looking man would have an extremely attractive accent.
Cole registered Chuck's surprise, smiling again.
"Parents decided to send me abroad to see how America is. My school worked out a swap of foreign exchange students with yours. So I'm here. " He said with a shrug.
Before Chuck could respond to that Morgan butted in.
"Oh my god! You're from England! That is so cool!"
Cole just smiled looking a bit confused at Chuck.
"This is my best friend Morgan. Sorry he just gets excited when he meets any English person. He dreams of living there working for a Premier League Team." Chuck said with a sheepish grin.
Cole gave an understanding look to Chuck before looking back at Morgan.
"Morgan Grimes, pleasure to meet you Cole." Morgan exclaimed with an excited grin.
"Pleasure's all mine Morgan."
Before Morgan could launch into a million questions, Chuck proclaimed that they should start on their tour as they wouldn't wanna be late on the first day.
As they started off Chuck asked Cole for his schedule to help him. Quickly comparing classes he could see that they both had AP Stats first period. They also had AP physics and a free period together.
"Okay so me and your schedules are pretty similar so uh, you can follow me if you want?" Chuck said hesitantly.
"Why wouldn't I wanna follow you?" Cole questioned curiously. "You're not some terrorist in disguise are you?"
"No no no. Of course not," Chuck said with a nervous smile. "I'm just not what you would call popular here in this school."
Chuck could see Morgan about to disregard his claim to Cole, but Cole beat Morgan to it.
"Chuck, don't worry. You and Morgan are the first mates I've met, and you both seem cool. Give yourself more credit, I really appreciate you taking me under your wing to show me around the school." Cole said with a serious glint in his eye.
Chuck was speechless. He'd completely misjudged Cole. With a genuine smile slowly taking over his face, he thanked his new friend.
He then turned to Morgan asking about his schedule and together the three of them compared notes while giving Cole the normal tour of the school. Buymore High being in Burbank was pretty wealthy with a beautiful large campus, making the tour last fifteen minutes.
Near the end Morgan said he had to go check in with Anna about something quickly leaving Chuck and Cole. At the same time his buddy was leaving, Chuck heard someone call out his name. Whipping around he saw none other than Bryce Larkin making his way over to him.
Quickly speaking some pleasantries in Klingon and hugging, Chuck introduced Bryce and Cole.
"Good to meet you man!" Bryce exclaimed. "Will I be seeing you on the pitch with us this season?"
"Yeah definitely, it's all a bit shocking, but once I get myself settled you'll be sure to see me out getting some top bins." Cole responded with a grin.
Chuck looked at Bryce confused.
"Bryce, how'd you know Cole played football?"
"Well he's english for one, and two you didn't hear?" Bryce asked with a puzzled face.
At Chuck's blank face, Bryce quickly smacked his forehead.
"Aw shit I forgot to tell you in the text I sent. Cole is the replacement for Harry Tang." He finished smiling. "Major upgrade if you tell me."
It all clicked in Chuck's head. Harry had said he'd been scouted by some European teams in the second division of english football but no one had believed him. So, he had been the exchange student to swap with Cole.
"Oh, that's awesome! Morgan is gonna be jumping for joy." Chuck smiled.
Despite being a teammate, Harry Tang had been despised by most of the team for his cocky attitude that didn't quite match his skills. Morgan was always being picked on by Harry, so it was no surprise that Morgan hated Harry the most out of the entire team. Looking at Cole, Chuck had to agree with Bryce that Cole was a complete upgrade.
The three of them talked for a few more minutes about football, with Chuck sourly finding out Cole was an Arsenal fan, until the first bell rang. Both Chuck and Cole had Physics with Bryce so they all headed off to their first class.
The three of them were some of the first to get into the class, all three having a good banter session over the teams they supported.
"Bryce!" A beautiful almost melodic voice rang out.
All three stopped and turned to see one of the 'Untouchables', as Chuck called them. Although out of all of those Untouchables, she was the one who had plagued Chuck's mind many a night.
None other than Sarah Walker was behind them.
As she started talking to Bryce and Cole, Chuck's mind started to wander.
Although being given the title of an Untouchable usually was given to someone that was popular and tormented Chuck's life such as Daniel Shaw. Sarah was an Untouchable for the complete opposite reason.
To Chuck she was an Untouchable because she was literally untouchable to him. She was so far out of his league it was ridiculous. She was crazy athletic being captain of the Var women's football, Volleyball, and Cross Country team. She was also extremely studious as Chuck had watched her join him in the honors section column in their yearbook, year after year. All her academic and athletic achievements paled in comparison to her personality though. She was known to be one of the nicest people in the school. Not in a fake way either like Heather Chandler, but in an extremely genuine way. With all that already mentioned, her beauty just topped everything else. She looked like an actual angel, sent to the mortal realm to bless mankind. It was no wonder the entire male population of the school wanted to date her.
That was why Sarah Walker was an Untouchable to him.
Of course he wanted to be at least friends with her throughout high school but he'd never gotten the courage to talk to her. Especially with his traitorous mouth he never dared.
He wasn't even on the radar for Sarah, and of course she'd immediately hit it off with Bryce when she'd first arrived sophomore year. Sometimes he envied his best friend. Popularity just seemed to come as easy as breathing to him, while Chuck seemed to be drowning each day.
To the whole school with the exception of what seemed like Bryce and Morgan, he was a nobody. Someone in the background. A wallflower, only known for being good friends with Bryce.
So of course he didn't register Sarah had just said hi to him.
Jolted out of his negative musings, he looked bewildered at Sarah's beautiful face. When his brown eyes met her inquiringly blue ones he was completely at a loss.
Her eyes were a beautiful light blue. They were so engrossing he almost forgot to respond to her. Ellie would have smacked him for his bad manners.
"H-hi Sarah." Chuck responded shyly. The tips of his ears started to turn red and before he could embarrass himself in front of another person he quickly hurried off to the back of the room.
Quickly lying his face onto the cool surface of his desk, he could've seen Sarah's eyes having a mix of hurt, confusion, and curiosity in them. In a blink though he could see her conversing very brightly with Bryce and Cole, laughing at something Cole had said.
It must have been a glimpse of his imagination.
Eventually the second bell rang and Sarah quickly said her farewells and departed to the front of the room where Carina and Zondra were waiting.
Bryce and Cole each took a seat next to him. Bryce in his usual seat, to his right and Cole now to his left. As Dr. Flemings made his way in cutting off all chatter. Chuck thought.
This was gonna be one long semester.
Next chapter will be in none other then the Untouchable girl herself Sarah freaking Walker! Thanks again for reading! Please remember to review etc. Your reviews are what motivate me to keep writing. :)
