CHAPTER TWO: The Man in the Fire
Elsa hadn't had that dream in many years. The fear she felt as a little girl seeing the castle and the rest of Arendelle burn in an unforgiven blaze shook her to her core and the only thing in the world that could bring her out of it was her mother's soothing lullaby. Tonight, it was different. Elsa woke up in a cold sweat yet forgot what her dream was. She left her tent to get some air and think clearly. Honeymaren woke up, hearing Elsa have a nightmare and was going to check on her, but held back when she saw Elsa leave her tent and walk away. She followed.
As she stood on a cliff's edge overlooking the torn down dam, Gale blew around her. Elsa laughed, "Hey, you."
The calm breeze settled her nerves, even though she didn't remember her nightmare. She turned when Honeymaren asked, "Are you okay? I heard you having a nightmare."
"Sorry if I woke you," Elsa turned away and focused on the gentle waters below as it began to sparkle in the rising sun.
Honeymaren came next to her, "Oh, no. Don't apologize." She tried to laugh to cheer Elsa up, but it didn't quite work. "What was your nightmare about?"
Elsa struggled to remember and groaned with frustration. "I can't remember. My body tells me that it was horrible, but when I woke up-"
"It all a blur," Honeymaren finished.
"Exactly," Elsa replied turning to Honeymaren.
"I used to have nightmares like that all the time," Honeymaren explained, "Yelena says that dreams and nightmares are sometimes the Spirits guiding us. She also said that if we couldn't remember, then it wasn't important. So, don't worry."
Elsa smiled, "Easier said than done."
"Give it a try," Honeymaren laughed. "Maybe I can help. Close your eyes. Take deep breaths. Focus on how scared you were."
Elsa did what she suggested. It all started coming back to her as Gale flew around her. She was in the Enchanted Forest and it was burning down around her. Gale blew past her angrily, forcing her to turn around to see a dark silhouette of a man on top a tall boulder. His eyes were like fire as they stared into her soul. The same fear she felt long ago came flooding in all at once.
She instantly snapped awake when the figure reached out for her. Honey held her by the shoulders to steady her and looked at her with concern. "What did you see, Elsa?"
"I saw the Enchanted Woods burning…and there was someone, a man," Elsa answered.
Honeymaren assured her, "It's okay. It means nothing."
"Okay," Elsa replied, taking comfort in that. Suddenly, Gale delivered a letter from Anna, which made Elsa feel much better. She opened it, "Anna needs to see me. She preparing for her's and Kristoff's wedding. She's getting overwhelmed."
Honeymaren watched as Elsa disappeared on Nokk, the Water Spirit, before going to find Yelena in her tent. "We have a problem. He's coming."
