"This is getting ridiculous!" Perci shouted, quickly summoning her pistol and blasting a wolf that got too close in the face and killing it instantly even as she decapitated two of the bears in a single swing.
"We're trying our best, but there's just too many." I knew where Perci was going with this.
"To me." Nico and I both fell back closer to Perci, and then her and Nico raised a stone dome around us. "Give me access to your power." We placed our hands on her shoulders as she knelt and stabbed her sword into the ground. I felt a drain as thunder began to rumble and the earth started to shake. The thunder grew louder as lightning began to strike outside our dome and the earthquake grew stronger. Then the temperature began to fall, which was new.
After about ten minutes had passed Perci collapsed and the dome crumbled. There was chaos, spikes of stone had impaled a slowly disintegrating giant scorpion, there were charred spots on the ground, the pond was now a pool of acid, and some of each type of the monsters were flash frozen into ice sculptures. There was suddenly more howling.
"Well, Perci's clonked out, and we're completely out of ammo. I estimate we have five minutes to live." There was a whirring sound, and some strange aircraft landed near us. A blonde woman stepped out of the door on the side as it opened.
"Come on, the grimm are almost here and you're exhausted." We exchanged a look, before Nico sighed defeatedly and we each grabbed one of Perci's arms and hauled her to the aircraft, Nico running back to grab our packs. The doors closed and we took off just as dozens more wolves, bears, pigs, some snakes, and another scorpion burst into the clearing.
"Thank you…"
"Goodwitch, Glynda Goodwitch."
"Thank you ." She waved me off.
"It's my job, now care to explain how you got here, or why the grimm were so attracted to you?" We were saved from answering, for now, as Perci woke up with a groan.
"Why are we flying, I specifically said no flying."
"Seeing as it was the only way to save you, you should be grateful." Perci's head snapped over to look at her, and Goodwitch gasped.
"I'm sorry, have you never heard a joke before?" Goodwitch's eyes narrowed.
"Well I never…"
"You should really try, I've heard it's good for your health." I punched her on the arm.
"She saved us Perci, at least try to be nice." She rolled her eyes, but agreed, so I called that a win.
"I'm sorry, I just used a lot of power, and I'm not really in the best of moods right now." Goodwitch's face softened, but she still looked suspicious.
"Very well, I accept your apology. Now can you tell me who you are, and where you came from? I've run your faces through our databases, and you don't show up as from any of the kingdoms." Perci was always the best at improvising, and she showed it now.
"I'm Perci Jackson, this is my girlfriend Thalia Grace, and my boyfriend Nico Di'Angelo." Goodwitch looked surprised, but Perci pressed on. "You won't find us on any database, we were born outside the kingdoms. The grimm have always been strangely attracted to us, and when they attacked our village enmass the leader used his power to send us to safety. Didn't work out too well though, as you saw."
"I'm sorry to hear that. I may have an offer for you when we land though." With that she stepped through a door that I assumed led to the cockpit.
"I'm still in shock over how you can come up with stuff like that on the fly." Nico was whispering.
"Yeah, we're just lucky that I can use your abilities as well, who knows what would have happened if I couldn't." She made a few discrete hand motions. Right cameras. We flew the rest of the way in silence, Nico and I leaning against Perci. I didn't remember falling asleep, but I was shaken awake by Perci.
"Come on Thals, wake up, we've landed." I sleepily rubbed my eyes, as I was pulled to my feet alongside Nico. "No dreams?" I shook my head negative. "Look alive, we have a meeting with Ms. Goodwitch's boss." We snapped to attention, following Perci's lead. We were led to what appeared to be an interrogation room. There was a man with grey hair sitting on the other side of a table.
"Perci Jackson, you have silver eyes." She snorted as she fell into the middle set of chairs across from the man, Nico and I sitting on either side of her a bit more carefully.
"And you have silver hair, what's your point?" He smiled indulgently.
"Glynda told me you had an interesting sense of humor. How would you like to join my school?"
"Unless your school trains people to fight, I think we'll pass." He actually smirked at her.
"So you're interested then." We stared at him incredulously.
"You're serious. You run a school for warriors?"
"I may not look it, but I am quite adept at fighting." Perci gave each of us a Look, and we nodded our heads indicating we would follow her lead.
"Why the hell not." A smile broke across his face and he pulled out three folders.
"Excellent, just fill out these papers and you'll be enrolled." He pulled out a strange device. "I'll be back shortly, it appears that a friend wants to talk." Parts of the files were already filled out. Gender, Race, and appearance.
"So since I have animal parts I'm considered a different species. Bullshit." Perci rubbed between his ears, causing his tail to wag.
"Don't worry Nico, you'll always be adorable to us."
"Shut up Pinecone face."
"How are you going to make me Death Breath?"
"Don't push me Thunder Thighs."
"I don't have to push Puppy." He tried to lunge at me, but Perci caught him around the waist, before flicking me on the forehead. "What was that for?" I whined as she did the same to Nico.
"You're acting like children, you two, don't make me spank you." We both blushed, knowing she would do just that.
"Technically, I'm older than you."
"You really don't act like it sometimes. There's a reason I'm in charge. Anyway, there's some things that I've figured out that I'll explain to you when we're alone. And I've finished the paperwork sir, you can come back in."
"Very perceptive, Ms. Jackson. I hope any relationship squabbles won't affect your team dynamic." Perci waved him off.
"Nah, they're perfectly happy to share me with each other. The only reason that they fight so much is that they're too similar." He was looking through the files and I realized something.
"Wait, you never told us your name." He seemed genuinely surprised.
"So I didn't, I am Professor Ozpin, the Headmaster of Beacon Academy." He returned to pursuing the files. "I notice that you put down that you all have the same semblance?" Perci shrugged.
"I mean technically. We can each control various elements, and in the right situation I can access theirs as well."
"I assume that the destruction done to Everfall Forest is the result of that then?" We all nodded. "Interesting. Well, everything seems in order. I accept your applications. Now, you are a person short of a typical team, but you work so well together I think I can let it slide. Glynda will give you your scrolls, dorm keys, and uniforms." Recognizing a dismissal when we heard one we stood, bowed slightly, and left the room.
"Thank you , could you tell us where the dorms are?" We followed her directions and made it to our room with little fanfare. After packing everything, Perci turned to me.
"Thalia, static." Following her direction I stopped suppressing my aura. There was nothing that indicated any cameras or mics had been in the room. Perci clapped her hands once after she finished smoothing out her hair.
"Okay rapid explanation time. In this world there is a thing called Aura, It is the power of the soul. I believe ours was unlocked when we came through the portal based on what happened during the fight. I got hit once by one of the wolves, but the hit just bounced off. Next, everyone with an Aura has a semblance, which is a special power that only they have. My theory is that this amplified our natural powers instead of giving us new ones, because it was much easier than normal to connect to your powers. No I don't why we were changed physically, other than the strange dream I assume we all had before waking."
"The one about Salem, Ozma, and changing us?" Perci nodded at Nico's question.
"Now I'm going to make cookies. Try not to kill each other." Nico and I looked at the four beds, and an idea popped into my head.
"Let's turn them into one bed."
"JYNX!" I laughed.
"Perci was right, we are too alike." With judicious use of his control over metals we merged the bed frames into one and put the mattresses on them. "There, one mega bed." I heard the kitchen timer go off, and the sound of Perci setting a tray on a counter. Before any of us could say anything our door exploded.
"Where are they!?" It was a ginger, looking quite insane. Nico and I each had our weapons ready to attack before she even finished speaking, and Perci came from the kitchen with her pistol pointed at the girl.
"This is going to be my whole damn day isn't it?"
