Now let's get into the story!!
Kensi's POV
"Baby, are you ready?" My mom called from the kitchen while I was packing my things. "We're going to be late... well you are..." It's the third time we moved... first we moved from Virginia to Boston; then from Boston to New York; and now from New York to here, Los Angeles... I'm not saying I don't like it here, I mean, it's good to surf and it's good to play volleyball, but I liked New York and Boston as well... let's just hope we don't move anymore.
"I know mom, I'm almost ready, don't worry!"
"I'm not worried, honey, I just don't want you to be late at your first day..."
"Yeah, thank you, mom, but I'm ready!" I said with my backpack in hands running down the stairs and with a huge smile in my face!
"I think you're ready... Alright, let's go!" My mom picked the car keys and we got out of our house and into the car. We drove to school listening to Grease's song "You're the one that I want!"... it's a classic!
"You better shape up 'cause I need a man and my heart is set on you
You better shape up, you better understand, to my heart I must be true..." We sang happily before we got to school.
"This is it, honey... Do you need any help?"
"No, mom, I don't need any help, don't worry! I call you later, bye!" I said before kissing her cheek and getting out of the car.
"Bye, honey."
I got into my new school and a guy came to me telling me that he could help in the new school, but he was not really a good influence... I could feel it...
"No, thank you, but I don't need any help." I said and kept walking through the lockers' hall.
"Hi! You look a little lost..." a handsome guy said to me. He's blond, got blue eyes and a smile that can light the world.
"Is it that obvious?" I asked a little shy.
"Not really, I just stared at you and studied you for a few moments."
"Not creepy at all!" I said and we both laughed. His laugh made me smile and he smiled too, I don't know why, but he did. "My name is Kensi!" I putted my hand out so he could shake it.
"My name is Marty, but everyone calls me Deeks!" He said and shook my hand.
"Deeks? Why?" I asked a little confused.
"Since I'm a football player and my last name is Deeks, people call me Deeks..."
"Oh, so you're the popular guy?" I asked in an ironic way.
"Yeah, basically." He said and we laughed... again.
"Hum, that means that we shouldn't be talking... I should get going..." I said walking away slowly and backwards.
"Wait, Kens, can I, at least, have your number?" Deeks yelled.
"Maybe..." I said and walked away.
I've been looking for my classroom for like 15 minutes, and I can't find it... I think I walked through the whole school, but I CAN'T find my classroom. I decided to look differently for my classroom when I heard a door open. "Finally!" I said and turned around to find Deeks.
"Were you that desperate to be with me?"
"Ahah, not even a little bit! I just can't find my classroom..." I said and looked at the paper with my classroom number on it.
"Let me see it." Deeks said and I handed him the paper. He looked at the paper and smiled at me.
"What?" I said confused.
"We are from the same class!" He said with a stupid grin on his face.
"Are you sure?" I just can't believe it... Marty Deeks, the first person I actually talked in this school, maybe the cutest guy in this school, is in the same class as me... I just can't.
"Of course I'm sure, Kens! This is going to be awesome! You and me in the same class!? This day couldn't get better!"
"You know I can hear you, right?" I asked trying so hard not to laugh.
"Yeah, I know! Okay, let's go... you're already late and I don't spend that much time in the bathroom, so..." Deeks said and I chuckled.
"You're right, let's go then!" I said and we walked side to side while he was talking about the school. In the mean time we got to our classroom and Deeks knocked.
"Hey, I found this very cute girl in the the hallway looking for this room so I decided to bring her!" Deeks said and made me blush, a little, I just hope no one had noticed it.
"Hi, I'm Kensi Blye, the new student... I'm sorry for being late, it wasn't on purpose!"
"It's okay, Ms. Blye, we all had our first day, we know the feeling!" The teacher said. "Since you and Mr. Deeks are getting so well, you can sit by each other."
"I'm sorry, teacher, but I'm right here... next to Marty." A cute girl said... She's probably Deeks' girlfriend...
"Yeah, but I don't think that's a problem Kate... Is it?" Deeks said while holding my hand, as if protecting me.
"No, it's not, Deeks!" She said, clearly frustrated.
"I don't wanna cause any prob-" I whispered, but Deeks interrupted me.
"Don't worry, it's okay!" He assured me and let go of my hand. I passed through him and putted his hand in my lower back so he could 'guide' me to my sit. As he did so, Kate gave me a death glare and I smiled falsely. "If you keep teasing her it won't be okay..." He said and I smiled at him.
"I can take care of me, don't worry!" I assured him.
"I do, I do worry!"
"Mr. Deeks, Ms. Blye, can we start?" Mr. Granger said.
"Sure!" Deeks said. "We talk later." Deeks whispered.
-- At the end of the day --
Deeks' POV
The day ended and Kensi walked out of the class. I went after her because I needed to tell her something very important.
"Kensi! Kensi, wait up!" I yelled through the hallways and she turned to me.
"Yes?"
"Can I talk to you?" I kind of begged.
"I don't know..." She was insecure and afraid, I could feel it.
"Please?" Now, I really begged.
"Okay, but it has to be a quick talk..." As she said that I grabbed her hand pulled her into a cubicle where no one could find us.
"I really need to say this, and I feel that if I don't say it now, I won't ever get courage to do it, so just let me do it... please..." I breathed out the words.
"Okay, but just say it slowly, because it was complicated to get what you just said, so..."
"Okay... Kensi... I want to ask you if yo-" I started, but was interrupted by her phone ringing. "Aren't you going to get it?"
"I wasn't thinking of it..." she said as she picked her phone. "It's my mom..." she said and answered the phone. "Hey mom... yeah, I'm almost done here... sure... Okay, see you!" She turned the phone and looked at me. "Okay, my mom is almost here, so you have to be quick, but speak slowly!"
"I just... I wanna know if... if you want to... study with me tomorrow." I was so nervous that I couldn't say what I wanted to so I just said the stupidest thing on earth!
"Uh... It's the first day of school... we don't even know what tests we are going to do..."
Right, of course I haven't even thought in a better excuse.
"Yeah, I know, but we have homework to do and I'm not really good at philosophy, so if you could help me out..." It was more of a question than a statement, but this moment was crucial...
"Oh, okay, sure, I can help you! Do you want to come to my house now?" Was she inviting me to her house!? Is this for real!? Best day ever!
"I don't know... Isn't your mom going to get mad or something?"
"Dogs get mad, people get angry! And no, she is not... my dad can be a problem, but my mom it's not!"
"What!?" Is she trying to give an heart atack or something?
"I'm kidding, there is no problem, at all!" She looked at me laughing and then with a smile that can light the entire school.
"I'm going to call my mom to tell her that I'm heading to your house."
"Okay, maybe we should just go outside, because my mom should be here at any moment..."
"Sure!"
-- A few minutes later--
Kensi's POV
"My mom is here! Let's go!" I said while picking his hand and running through the crowd to a car in the end of the street. "Hey, mom, can Dee- Marty come to our house so I can help him with some subjects?"
"Sure sweety! Hi, Marty, I'm Julia!" My mom said very sympathetic to Deeks.
"Hi, Ms. Blye, it's a pleasure to meet you!"
"Oh, please, call me Julia!"
"Okay, Julia!"
My mom drove us home and me and Deeks headed to my bedroom. Deeks stayed at the doorway as I unpacked my school bag.
"You know you don't have to stay there, right?" I asked, not really sure of the answer.
"Uh, yeah, I do, I just, I... I was just thinking..."
"About?" I asked very curious.
"About my family..." Deeks said and looked away.
"What about them?" I knew that something was bothering him and I needed to help him with it.
"It's just my dad, but nothing important..."
"It's definitely important to put you like that... Talk to me, Deeks... please..." I said in a pleading tone.
"My dad used to abuse me and my mom... he used to hit us..." He said avoiding my eyes and I didn't know what to say so I just hugged him...
"Oh, Deeks... have you told the police?"
"No, my, uh, my dad didn't want us to tell the police because, if we did, he would know and he would..." Deeks didn't want to say it, but he started he has to finish. "He would kill us..."
"Oh, my god, Deeks... I'm so sorry... but is it different now?"
"Yeah, he's... he's dead..." I couldn't believe what Deeks just said... his life is a mess... "Because of me... he's dead because of me..."
"Deeks, if he's dead it's because of him, it's because of the actions he did while he was alive... you have nothing to do with that!" I know he's hurt and talking about it doesn't make it any better, but after this conversation he will have someone who he can talk to if he needed to...
"I shot him! It's my fault because I shot him... It was in self-defense, but I shot him either way..." wow... I wasn't ready for this, but he didn't need my dramas right now, so I hugged him... He deserves to be happy and I'm going to help him with that!
"It was in self-defense, so don't worry about it, okay? You're a good person and I like Marty Deeks as he is, so just don't change now!"
"I won't..." He pulled apart and smiled.
"Alright, after this huge conversation I need food... lots of food!" I always do, but I don't have to tell him that. "Let's eat something downstairs!"
"Isn't your mom going to mind if I eat something?" I turned around to look at him, he was with his hands in his pockets and looking down, when I turned, his head immediately shot up.
"No, Deeks, she doesn't mind... if she does, wich won't happen, I tell her I will eat the whole cookies pack and drink a lot of juice because I'm on my period and then we can escape like prisoners!" I said laughing and Deeks smiled.
"Sounds like a plan... I like it!"
"Hey mom, do you think we can eat something?"
"Sure honey! What do you want?"
"I don't know... what are you feeling Deeks?"
"I don't want to bother anyone... The easiest thing is good to me!" Deeks whispered.
"You know she hears you even if you're whispering?" I said in his ear and Deeks chuckled. We were too close to each other, but I didn't mind.
"Ms. Bly-, sorry... Julia, I'm not actually that hungry, so I don't need to eat anything, but thank you for the offer!" Is he kidding? Of course he wants something!
"Anytime, Marty! And you sweetie?"
"Two sandwiches, please! In two different plates... it fits better!" I said trying not to look suspicious... I want Deeks to eat...
"I'll come here later to get ou- my food, mom!"
"Okay, honey!"
Me and Deeks went upstairs to my room and we did some of our homework after I came back down to get our food.
"Mom, give me two glasses please." I asked as I went to the fridge and got the juice.
"Honey, is everything okay with Marty?" My mom asked and handed me the glasses.
"Not really, but I will help him!" I said putting some of the juice in each glass. I picked a tray to put our food and headed back to my room.
"Deeks, I have my hands full, can you open the door for me, please?" I asked almost reaching the door.
"Sure!" He said and opened the door for me.
"Thank you!" I entered my room and ignored Deeks' glares while I putted the tray in the table for us to eat. "Now sit down and eat!"
"I hate you!" Deeks said and laughed. I laughed with him and then we ate.
"No, you don't. Now sit and tell me about your girlfriend!" I asked a little bit shy and trying not to make it awkward.
"My... girlfriend!? Who is she?" He asked and chuckled.
"Kate from our class..."
"Kate!? Really!? Am I that bad?" He said and chuckled, again.
"I don't know... She is your girlfriend, not mine!" I said and smiled.
"Touché, but she is definitely not my girlfriend, trust me! She's just another girl who's in love with Party Marty!"
"Party Marty!? Really!? Is that the best you can do?"
"I'm sorry, princess!" He said and laughed... He called me princess!!!
"So you're single?" I tried not to sound a little obvious.
"Yeah, do you want a bite?" Instantly I smiled.
It was 7 p.m. and Deeks had to go home so I went with him to the end of the street where he would caught a bus and go home. The walk to the bus station was talking about nonsense things, but it was comfortable.
"We're here and the bus is right there..." Deeks said and pointed to a bus in the middle of the street coming over to us.
"Well, bye then!" I said.
"Is that the way we are going to say bye to each other? No, no, I don't accept it!" He said while getting closer and closer, then he leaned in and kissed me... He kissed me!!! Then the bus came and we broke apart... That damn bus...
After I composed myself I went back to my house and held a pillow close to my chest while thinking about Deeks' story, about his fears and about the kiss... Did the kiss mean something to him? That was a question only he could answer, so I just have to wait for tomorrow to know the answer...
-- The next day --
Deeks' POV
When I got to school, the first thing I did was look for Kensi... I needed to know if the kiss meant something to her. I went to my locker where we first met and she was there looking at the ground with her back in the cold lockers.
"Good morning, sunshine!" She instantly looked at me and smiled. Her smile.
"Good morning, Deeks." She said and rolled her eyes. I decided to do something, so I putted my arms around her waist and pulled her closer.
"What are you doing, Deeks?" Kensi asked kind of nervous, kind of confused.
"I'm going to kiss you and you will do the same, I will explain why later." I said.
"Ok, bu-" I cutted her off with pressing my lips to hers. She looked lost, but gave in and kissed me back, then things got heated really quick and we were in the middle of a make out session... when something that no one was expecting happened.
"Kensi Marie Blye!!! What the hell are you doing?" A tall and older guy asked her.
"Do you know him, Kens?"
"He's my father..." I didn't want to put Kensi in trouble, but I did, so I'm going to take her out of it.
"Mr. Bly-"
"Shut up, kid! I need a moment with my daughter... alone!" Donald said a little bit calmer now.
"But, Sir., I can explain! I know that we all say that, but I swear I can explain!" I said a bit afraid... for Kensi.
"Look, kid, maybe you can explain, but let me talk to my daughter first and the I talk to you... Okay?"
"Yes, Sir.!" I said and Kensi went to a room with her father. "Alright, the circus is over! Get out of here!" I screamed at all the students there.
Kensi's POV
Me and my dad got into a room to talk about what happened, but worse than that was that I didn't actually know what happened...
"Kensi Blye, can you explain to me what happened?" My dad asked calmly, but angry was clear in his face.
"I don't know... I didn't mean to... I was helping a friend..."
"Helping a friend!? Making out with him!? That's not a good way of helping people!"
"I know, dad, but I can't do anything now, okay, I don't know why he needed help, but he did, so I helped him!"
"Well let's see what your friend has to say about that!" My dad said and got to the door to call Deeks in. "Kid, come in!" My dad said and let Deeks in. "What do you have to say about what happened?" My dad was still calm, but inside he could kill an elephant with a hug.
"It was my fault! All of it! Kensi doesn't have anything to do with it, so don't get angry with her, please..." Deeks said.
"You are both guilty! Now tell me what's the reason to have my daughter kissing you!"
"Ok, my dad is outside and I kissed your daughter because, if I was kissing her, my dad wouldn't find me..."
"But what's the problem with your dad?" My dad asked with a concerned look on his face.
"He... he's an abuser... he used to hit me and my mom, so I tried to protect us... and I shot him... I thought he was dead so my mom and I ran away from that house and we came to our new one... but apparently he found us, so..."
"Look kid... What's your name, exactly?"
"Uh, Marty, my name is Marty."
"Ok, Marty, what your father did to you is unforgivable, but what you did is too... It was in self-defense and the cops won't arrest you because of it, but promise me that you won't do it again!" My dad was trying to give a father to Deeks, and I think it was working...
"I won't shoot him again, but I can't promise I won't do anything... He's back and he's not back for good... he won't ever come back for good..."
"Marty, I asked you for a promise! Just promise me you won't shoot him again!"
"I promise, Sir!"
"Call me Donald!" My dad said and smiled for the first time in this conversation.
Deeks' POV
Donald is a good friend and I will try to keep my promise! But then my dad started screaming to my entire school.
"Martin Andrew Deeks!!! Where the hell are you?" My dad shout through the hallways.
"It's my dad... I gotta go!" I said while going to the door.
"Marty! Don't go!" Donald screamed.
"Deeks, please..." Kensi pleaded.
"I'm sorry!" Then I looked at Kensi. "I'm sorry, Kens!" And I got out of the room.
"Deeks, wait!" Kensi shouted and came after me with her father right behind. I turned around to face her.
"Kensi, I call you tonight!"
"No! No, a call isn't enough!" Kensi said trying to hold her tears.
"I'll go to your house tonight, okay?"
"Okay... But promise me, please..." Kensi said as a few tears ran through her face.
"I promise!" I said cleaning the tears from her face. "I gotta go now... See you later." I then went to my dad.
"Hello son!" My dad said with a devil smile on his face.
"I'm not your son! What do you want?"
"I'm want you to get me to your mother!"
"You wish! I'm not going to do it! Hit me, punch me, kick me! Do it, but do it to me, let my mom out of this!"
"Okay, your wishes are my command!" My dad said and punched me and I fell to the ground. Then he started kicking my stomach and grabbed his foot in an attempt to make him fall, wich he did, but then he was quickly on his feet and so was I. He grabbed something from the back of his jeans and held it right to my head... It was a gun. I took the gun put of his hands and held it preparing to shoot.
"Deeks... you promised..." It was Kensi... I promised I wouldn't do it...
"Kensi, call the cops!" I said and Donald picked his phone. "You know, sometimes people are better than you think, 'daddy'." I said to my father while the school's security came in to take him off the school and waited for the cops. Donald took the gun out of my hands and Kensi hugged me like it was the last time we would see each other.
"Deeks, don't do anything like this again, please!" Kensi mumbled in my chest.
"I will try!" I chuckled.
"I would punch you if you weren't bad enough!" Kensi said and smiled at me.
"I know you would!" I smiled back at her. "Thank you, Donald, for helping!"
"You're welcome, kid, you're welcome! Well, I gotta go, you guys can do what you were doing and I'll go! Bye, baby girl." Donald said and kissed the top of Kensi's head. "Bye, Marty... Take care!" He said and shook my hand.
"I will!" Donald walked out of the school and I turned to Kensi. "Well, I think we are alone!" I said grabbing her waist.
"Deeks, we need to talk! And we are definitely not alone." Kensi said and looked at the students in the hallway.
"Okay, you wanna talk then let's talk... Come here." I said grabbing her hand while pulling her to where no one would see us. Our spot. "Alright, tell me!"
Kensi's POV
"Deeks, we kissed yesterday..."
"I know, I was there..." Deeks was avoiding the conversation, but we really need to talk.
"Deeks, I'm serious... Did it mean something to you?"
"Did it mean something to you?"
"I asked first!"
"Fair enough... Yeah, of course it meant something to me... I was the one kissing you, remember?"
"Yeah, but-" I started but was interrupted by Deeks.
"Did it mean something to you?"
"Yes, it did... Deeks, I like you and I want to be with you, but are you sure you want to be with me?"
"Kensi, of course I'm sure! I like you, too and I'm totally sure that I want to be with you!"
"Does that mean that we are dati-" I was cut off by Deeks pressing his lips to mine... it was the best kiss I have ever had.
