'Slow down, Makiyah!' Micheal screamed as he desperately chased after her. The girl looked around, taking in her surroundings. She wondered aimlessly, bumping into a few students.
Makiyah giggled, as she ran towards the hallways. She stopped momentarily, as she noticed a display board on the wall. Her crimson eyes widened, as she admired the many photos on the board.
Are they all the mentors? There's so many! How can these humans even remember all their names? I thought that they were all stupid?
'MICHEAL!' she screeched. The few students around her turned around in surprise and confusion, as they wondered why the girl was screaming. Quietly, Micheal lightly tapped her on her back.
'NANTEKOTTA?!' She yelled. She pushed off her right, propelling herself into the air. Her arms extended out as she reached towards the celing, digging her sharp nails into the plaster. She glared at Micheal, her pupils shrunken down to the size of pin pricks.
'H-how is that possible?' he asked in confusion, as he tried to figure out how she was hanging there. 'Oh shoot! Your leg! Are you okay?'
Makiyah was trembling in discomfort as she looked at her leg She found that there was a lack of black tights on her hip, which revealed her skin Her right leg was decorated with a pure black, swirled pattern.
'Oops,'
She leapt down, adjusting her skirt. She noticed Micheal's look and smiled at him.
'Don't worry, it's a natural thing,' she assured him. She took him by the arm and started to walk away.
--
As the cafeteria began to fill up with more students, she noticed the amount of stares she was given. She simply smiled, as she clung on to Micheal's arm.
'Hey, Makiyah,' Micheal called. She looked up at him, her eyes wide. 'What's with you squeezing my arm so tight? Are you scared or something?'
She shook her head, before leaning on him.
This looks like Coronavirus Centeral right here. She thought as she looked around. It's so large! But seriously, who knew that the school for humans would be so, intriguing?! It's more detailed than the palace. There are so many pictures! Are these the teachers? They look so friendly! I wonder if they'll like demons. Maybe they'll be nice. But what if they are mean? Nah that won't happen. What about the teacher? Is he gonna be strict? I hope not 'cause I hate strict people. Does he give out homework? Wait, what is homework? Is it gonna be hard? Nah, it's gonna be a piece of cake! Ooh! Speaking of cake is the lunch gonna be good? What's the price of cake? Is it cheap? I hope they sell burgers 'cause I've been wanting some since I got up here! I havent passed any stores that coukd sell those types if things. Are there any stores around here? Ooh! Maybe they sell pancakes and hotdogs here! Man I'm hungry! Where's the cafete-
RIIIING!! RIIIING!! RIIIIING!!
Makiyah jumped as she heard the bell. Immediately, the once empty corridor was packed with students as they rushed to their classrooms before the second bell rang. She cried as she was pushed to the left and right as she was trapped in the crowd. She could hear the faint cries of Micheal as she was drawn away from him. A few minutes later, the crowd died down, as the second bell sounded. Once the hallways were empty, she frantically searched for Micheal, who had been waiting at the end of the hallway.
Makiyah stumbled over to him, already worn out. Defeated, she fell into his arms.
'Hey,' he said, 'are you alright?'
She nodded her head, mumbling incoherently. She sighed as Micheal helped her to go to classes.
So much chaos, so little time. It was over like that. For Mom's sake! I'm supposed it be the leader of an entire realm, and I get overwhelmed in a crowd of extras? Pathetic.
--
The classroom fell silent as the door opened, as all eyes focused on the pair of students entering the class. Micheal grabbed her ahold, as he led her to the teacher.
'HELLLLLLLLLLLOOOOO!'
'Sorry we're late, Mr McCabe,' Micheal started, hanging his head low. 'I was looking after the new student and she got lost.'
Mr McCabe, unimpressed, stared at the pair through his spectacles. He turned as he went on to write the name of Micheal on the whiteboard.
'Telling tales won't save you from late detention.' He said. 'And what is your name, miss?'
'Why are ya givin' him late, sir?' She asked cheerfully. 'Oh and it's Makiyah! Lemme spell it for ya: M-A-K-I-Y-A-H!'
Mr McCabe, surprised by her response, raised an eyebrow. The class studied in silence, except for a few whisperings. Makiyah looked directly into his eyes, showing him that she wasn't afraid. Micheal tapped her shoulder, but she dismissed him.
Mr McCabe bent over until he was standing at her height. He sighed, before speaking. 'I do not tolerate disrespectfull little girls in my cl-'
'I'm not little.' She inturrupted.
'What?'
'Did you not understand what I said? I assumed as this is America, you spoke English. Shall I repeat it in another language?' She cleared her throat. She took a deep breath in. She was caught slightly off guard, as the class began to laugh loudly at her antics.
'Maybe you understand Spanish; No soy pequeño. Or maybe Japanese is your language; 私は小さいじゃない. Maybe you speak Romanian; Nu sunt mic. Or how's about-'
'QUIET!' He yelled, standing up straight. 'I will send you to the principal's office, even if you are a new student. So I advise that you sit down in that seat over there before I call-'
Makiyah rolled her eyes.
'Listen teach,' she said, grasping ahold of Micheal's hand. 'I don't care. I'm not interested. Just don't call me little, or give Micheal a detention, and it's cool.
She yawned loudly before reaching over her arm and wiping' Micheal' off the board. She searched the room and saw two empty seats at the back. She smiled sweetly as she turned her heels and jumped to the back of the classroom, Micheal in her hand, towards two empty chairs.
'I-uh,' Micheal sighed and sat down at his desk besides her.
Human are fucking annoying! I wish I could send them to Purgatory for eternity. Especially him.
Makiyah gasped, as suddenly, the entire class turned around to talk to her. The dark haired girl raised an eyebrow in confusion, as she tried to listen and answer the many questions that was being asked.
What in the ever-loving fuck are they saying?
'Guys,' she said, cutting all of them off. 'Look, I get that you're interested, but y'all need to shut up. I don't know what any of you man are saying, and it's getting annoying. So do you mind? I can answer all y'all later at break.'
The class turned around as they began to talk amongst themselves.
At least that shit's over.
She removed her blazer and tied it around her waist, Makiyah hummed a small tune. She bent over, pulled out her pencil case and diary from her backpack, as she heard Mr McCabe introducing the current lesson.
It's a good thing that I brought this up with me. I'd be so screwed without it.
The diary was red, and tiny. 'Makiyah' was in bright bold letters, using cursive font. On the side, was a small, golden padlock.
Out of the corner of her eye, Makiyah noticed him looking. She smiled, baring her sharp teeth at him. He jumped, as color began to creep into his cheeks.
'I guess that you wanna know what it's for, huh?' She said. She held it up. 'It's my diary. I have to have it with me or bad things'll happen.'
Micheal opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted.
'Are you the new girl?' a dark-skinned girl turned around and asked her. At Makiyah, she smiled and introduced herself. 'I'm Arielle. Nice to meet you!' She stuck her hand out in front of her, waiting for Makiyah to shake it.
What am I supposed to do? Should, should I touch it? Or should I bite it? Did Marcus say to bite a human?
The class fell silent, as a blood-curdling scream pierced the air. Everyone turned to see Makiyah's teeth sunken deep into Arielle's hand. She look up, confused as to why the lesson has stopped. She removed the hand from her mouth, and scratched the back of her head.
Not bad, if I'm being honest.
'What the fuck was that for?' She cursed.
'Heh, heh. Sorry Ari,' she said with a smile. Crimson blood coated her teeth. 'I guess I didn't know. Here, take this.'
Makiyah pulled a small, white roll of cloth out of her pocket. The class stopped paying attention to the situation at this point and started again concentrating on the lesson. The girl tied it carefully around where she had bitten her. The three witnessed the cloth turning red, as the blood was soaked up.
'Okay, now take it off' Makiyah instructed.
The pair looked at Makiyah as if she was insane. With an annoyed grunt, Arielle pulled the cloth off.
'Wait, what?' Arielle and Micheal exclaimed in unison. They both stared at where the cut was supposed to be. 'It's gone!'
For Mom's sake! Why did I bite her hand? I knew I was supposed to shake it. I gotta remember that humans ain't prey here! I was lucky enough to of brought that healing bandages with me or I'd seriously be fucked. Maybe she'll never wanna talk to me. Maybe she's gonna be scared of me. Wait! What about Micheal? Will he stop as well? Don't tell me that the-
'You're not from around here, are you Makiyah? You're acting as if you are possessed.' Arielle said, said raising a suspicious eyebrow. Makiyah's eyes widened in surprise. She began to tap her fingers on the table, looking around the classroom in a panic.
'W-w-w-w-what a-are you ta-talking about, A-a-arielle?' She stammered nervously. She picked up her pen, as she quickly scribbled down the questions on the whiteboard.
Has she figured it out? How? ! I never told anyone. Oh SHIT this is bad. If she knows then bad things'll happen. My race can be put in danger because of it. Oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit.
Arielle tapped on Micheal's workbook. 'Is she okay?' She whispered, as not to alert her. 'Why is she acting like that?'
Micheal's only response was a shrug of the shoulders.
