Thalia
Sitting in her tree, Thalia was thinking about the past week's events. After informing Artemis of this new quest she was being forced on, Thalia had to return to camp to wait for Hecate's arrival.
Thalia was not looking forward to this quest. Not only was she a maiden huntress-and would remain that way-that would have to deal with the unwanted advances of boys, she was also the only single one on the quest.
No, she didn't want a relationship, but she didn't want to watch Percy and Annabeth or Nico and Will make out or anything.
In all honesty, the thought of kissing in general tended to gross Thalia out. Who wants to swap spit with someone? That's disgusting.
Ways of getting out of the quest were racing through Thalia's mind when Lou Ellen, one of Hecate's kids, came to Thalia's tree and told her that she was needed in the big house by Lou's mother.
Nodding, Thalia jumped from the pine and headed towards the building which contained the goddess of magic and crossroads.
Entering the meeting room, Thalia saw she was the last one there, though normally it was Percy and whoever he was with that was late. She sat down quickly between Nico and Percy, the latter started to laugh at her tardiness until Annabeth elbowed him in the ribs.
Hecate stood-wearing another long cloak, this time a maroon color, over a pair of pants and blouse thing-at the other end of the ping pong table and looked them over, like she was inspecting a prize.
"Now that we have all arrived, we can begin. I will start by transferring knowledge of the wizarding world that a student your age would know. Then I will give you the ability to preform magic for yourselves. Due to your parentage, you will all be superb at all forms, though some may excel in some areas more than others. For example, a child of Demeter would be excellent in Herbology. Keep in mind that, because you are of godly blood and not my children, magic will have a lesser effect on you. For example, a curse meant to kill would work as a simple stunning spell on you. Do you understand?"
After they had nodded and agreed, Hecate reached her hand out and her eyes began to glow a green color. Percy seemed worried—probably because of his experience with another goddess—but, as far as Thalia could tell, he was the only one.
A moment passed before anyone noticed anything. Thalia was waiting for something to happen when she realized she knew exactly what Hecate had meant when she said stunning spell. And she knew the incantation for the killing curse.
"Woah," she whispered, making the other demigods turn towards her. "That's freaky."
Annabeth was the next to catch on and, then, she began hyper-explaining what had happened to Percy, who was looking a bit nauseous, most likely from his girlfriend attempting to re-explain the process of transferring the information along with him processing the new information at the same instant.
Nico didn't look phased at all and Will was half-asleep, though he had been the whole meeting. Whoever said that kids of Apollo were early risers had clearly never met Will Solace. The boy would sleep all day if he could but, being the head of the infirmary, that was unlikely to happen.
"I will transport you to The Leaky Cauldron, where you will stay for a week and observe the wizards. You will also buy your supplies in Diagon Ally while you are there. After that week, you will go to King's Cross Station and board the Hogwarts Express by passing through the barrier in between platform 9 and 10. I suggest that you each buy an owl so that you may send letters back to camp. This quest will be a year long."
After her speech, Hecate snapped her fingers and there was pulling feeling on Thalia. It only lasted a moment, though, and then Thalia, and the four other demigods, were in the middle of a dingy bar.
Annabeth approached the man-no, wizard-standing at the counter cleaning cups. Thalia couldn't hear what they were talking about from where she stood, but she did see Annabeth give him money and see him give her keys, so Thalia assumed that Annabeth bought rooms.
After she walked back towards the rest of the group, Annabeth assigned rooms and gave keys.
"Percy and I can share, Nico and Will, and I got you your own room, Thalia. Is that good with everyone?" Annabeth asked, though we knew there wasn't anything that could be changed. Percy and Annabeth both had a... difficult time sleeping without the other in the room, Nico had a difficult time all around, though Will did soothe it somewhat. We'd all decided long ago that it wasn't a fight that needed any consideration. All three had literally gone through hell.
Thalia was saddened by the thought of what her two cousins and her adoptive little sister had gone through.
Without noticing, Thalia had followed the others up the stairs and to the rooms. Looking at her key, she discovered that room 12 would be her home for the week. Unlocking the door, Thalia stepped in and sat on her bed. Sighing, she threw herself backwards and laid there a moment.
Knock knock..
Before she could get up and answer it, Annabeth stuck her head into Thalia's room.
"We're all going to Diagon Ally," she said. "Are you ready?"
Thalia nodded and grabbed her key, shoving it into her back pocket, and locked the doors behind her.
Nico, Will, and Percy were all waiting in the hallway. After seeing Annabeth and Thalia, they began heading down the stairs, into the bar again.
It was Will who approached the wizard at the counter this time, asking for directions.
When Will walked back to the group, the wizard followed and then led them out into an ally behind the bar. The wizard, then, took out a stick-his wand-and tapped a few of the bricks. After he finished his tapping, the bricks moved apart and transformed into an archway door thing.
'Wow, Thalia, wonderful description.' Thalia thought and rolled her eyes.
"Okay," Annabeth began. "Let's get our wands first. Then we can go back and get anything else we need."
"Wait," Will interrupts, "Did Hecate even tell us what to buy? How are we supposed to buy supplies for a wizard school without a list?"
Annabeth smiles. "That's what I thought too. Then," she says as she pulls a paper from her pocket, "I found this. It's a list of what we need. I guess Hecate thought ahead of us."
They all nod in agreement. Annabeth looked around and, judging by the look in her face, finds where they need to go. She begins leading the demigods to a shop and they all file inside.
There are piles and piles of rectangular boxes covering every surface of the shop. Thalia assumed that this was the wand store, and that the boxes hold wands.
A woman in her thirties walks out of a door behind the counter and greets them.
"I take it that you all are here for wands? Though, you look a bit old for first years."
'Wonderful observation,' Thalia thought. 'Two of us are eighteen, two are fifteen, and then there's me, who is actually twenty-twoish, an immortal who looks like 16 year old.'
Annabeth, having a plan as always, spoke up for all of the demigods. "We are the students from America. We all managed to lose or somehow damage our wands in the war and we need new ones."
The witch seemed to accept the answer as she began to nod her head. "Yes, such a tragedy, so many witches and wizards are having to receive replacement wands from the war. Let's start with you," she says as she points to Will.
"Which is your wand arm, sweetie?"
"Uh my right arm, ma'am."
The witch makes a quiet noise of acknowledgement and hurries around trying to find something. A few minutes pass and she returns, evidently finding what she was looking for.
She opens a box and hands Will the wand. "Willow wood, 12" with a core of unicorn hair, good for healing."
As she talks, she motions for Will to wave it. When he does, a bright light glows from the tip and a warmth fills the room for a moment. The witch smiles and tells him that he's been chosen by his wand.
