Ducktales Season 1 episode 25 – The Rise of Magica De Spell Part 1
Hey guys! Hope you like this. This version Revamped of Shadow War is going to be even more epic and emotional than the one in the show and my first rewrite. I've made and added some big changes I hope you'll love. Enjoy!
Things had taken a turn for the worse for the Duck/McDuck Family. Huey, Dewey and Louie finally learn the truth about the Spear of Selene, their missing mother Della Duck and why their Uncles Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck never spoke again for 10 years. They learn that Scrooge had built a rocket as gift for Della and the birth of her children but had been stolen by her for test run. The consequence of her recklessness caused her to run into a cosmic storm and she became lost in the abyss of space. As a result Donald blamed Uncle Scrooge for the loss of his beloved twin sister whom he shared so many memories with, causing him to isolate himself and the boys as eggs from his uncle. The boys also blame Scrooge for the disappearance of their Mom who in turn calls them nothing but trouble after everything he's done for them. He even turns his rage on Daisy, Webby and Beakely after they join in the argument. The worst part was when Donald and Scrooge's fight got violently physical. As a result of the terrible argument and after the boys take their rage on Donald for lying their entire lives, Donald, Daisy, Dewey, Huey, Louie, Webby, Beakely and Duckworth abandon him and move back to the marine, leaving Scrooge in tearful and broken solitude and Donald racked with guilt.
It's the day of the Lunar Eclipse which is beginning to cover the moon, making the sky blood red. After ditching the Scrooge Donald and the boys are back living the marina with Webby and Beakely moving in with them until it blows over and Daisy stays in hopes of convincing them to give Scrooge a chance. Launchpad is currently going to check on his emotionally broken boss. The boys are carrying a box full of their stuff onto the houseboat, though Louie lazily has his finger on the bottom as his brothers do all the work.
Dewey: Got it. Got it, got it. No!
Huey: Louie, pull your weight!
Louie: Um, I'm stabilizing. Grunts lift. Leaders stabilize.
Webby comes off the boat and helps Dewey, Huey and Louie brings their stuff to the boat. Together they throw it on and Webby leans an arm on the box; ever since the argument Webby has been trying to keep up an optimistic houseboat.
Webby: Ahh, life on a boat, huh? The lively rocking of the waves! Sleeping next to a dangerous boiler! And what's that? A longshoreman cursing?! Fun!
Dewey grumpily closes his arms as Huey brings another box to the boat.
Dewey: Anything's better than the mansion with that selfish old miser.
Webby can't help but feel sorry for Scrooge as she takes the next box. Despite what he said to her about not being a part of the family it still broke her heart to think of him in a miserable state and to be rejected like this.
Webby: Aw, that's not fair. Scrooge isn't that old and selfish.
The boys tilt their heads in a deadpan fashion at Webby as though they're thinking she doesn't know him, making her a little sheepish.
Webby: Okay, but in the most lovable way!
Daisy comes up overhearing their conversation and gives an expression to urge them in listening to reason.
Daisy: Come on boys, don't you think you're being too hard on Scrooge. You can't hold a grudge against him forever.
Huey: Statistically speaking, we can.
Dewey: It's because of that old miser our Mom is gone.
Louie: And I don't see how you can defend him after the way he hit you Aunt Daisy.
Daisy: That was an accident. Scrooge would never intentionally hurt someone like that.
Webby: Come on you guys, surely part of you must still care for Scrooge?
The triplets walk by the girls one by one, with Huey holding another box.
Dewey: Dream on!
Huey: Nope!
Louie: Nerp!
Daisy and Webby look to each other in concern feeling this is going to be harder than they thought as they follow after them with Dewey having gone ahead. Donald (wearing his black sailor attire) stops in front of them putting up a smile after regaining his composure.
Donald: Home sweet home. Huh?
Huey and Louie say nothing. After a day the boys don't mind living with Donald anymore but are still mad at him for keeping their mother a secret. At the same time he did their very best to take care of them so they just don't show much emotion around him anymore. In attempt to cheer them up Donald looks to tray on the edge.
Donald: Um…I got snacks.
He takes the tray of 6 crackers with dead and slimy fish lying on them. He holds them out to the kids first. Huey and Louie cringe in disgust and so does Webby. But when she looks at Donald's smiling face urging her to try it out she couldn't say no to her figurative uncle. She nervously laughs as she takes one and puts it in her mouth. She holds it in giving the thumbs up and trying her best to not show her disgust. Donald then offers one to Daisy who also cringes.
Donald: Want one toots. It's on the house.
Daisy: Daisy thinks of an excuse to avoid hurting her boyfriend. Uh…no thanks…I'm not that hungry.
Donald looks around noticing someone is missing.
Donald: Wait…Where's Dewey!?
Fearing he might be taking the houseboat again he puts the tray back and attempts to rush to the main deck only to find Dewey gruffly sitting on the steps next to a life jacket.
Dewey: Nope! Right here, not stealing the boat.
Donald: Oh.
Dewey: Yup…back to the good ol' days with our incredibly boring and dishonest uncle who's been lying to us our whole lives. He halfheartedly raises his fists. Woo-oo…
He puts the jacket his uncle would normally put on himself, not caring how stupid it looks on him anymore. To him, all life has lost meaning and Huey and Louie follow his example in the same halfhearted way.
Huey & Louie: Woo-oo…
Webby is unable to handle the cracker anymore and spits onto the box she's holding. Donald looks down hurt by Dewey's comment making Daisy give the middle triplet an angry look with her hands on her hips.
Daisy: Dewey, that's an awful thing to say. I know you're mad at Donald but-
Donald: No! Daisy and Webby look to Donald in surprise as he sighs miserably. It's fine. I deserve that. I had it coming for a long time…
Daisy and Webby look at Donald in sorrow. The sight of his turmoil from losing the trust of his nephews is breaking their heart.
Meanwhile, the Lunar eclipse is close to covering the moon and Magica still possessing Lena's body is walking on the pavement near the manor's gate evilly exited as she rubs her hand.
Magica: Big day, Magica. Real big day. She stops to look at the eclipse and holds his hands up in worship position. The eclipse is at hand, my plan is flawless-
She could feel herself chocking; Lena is attempting to fight back against Magica's control. She drops to her knees and vomits her aunt's shadow form out her eyes and beak but she's still connected to her body.
Lena: LET ME GO! She reels her head back but Magica has her completely ensnared and only gives her a mocking smile.
Magica: Oh, that's right. I forgot you were here.
Lena: I won't let you do this!
Magica: Yeah, uh-huh. She shadow puppets the eclipse covering the moon. Oh, except at the moment of the eclipse, my powers will finally unleash, and I'll be an invincible juggernaut of DARK MAGIC! So, you know…
She returns to Lena's body, taking back control over. An evil smile appears on her face as she goes over her plan.
Magica: Now that you've gained the trust of Scrooge's brats, I can use your body to get inside the house. She brings up a vial of purple liquid. Then I'll weaken Scrooge with this, snatch the Number One Dime at the height of the eclipse, unleash my full power, and use it to destroy everything Scrooge has ever loved!
Magica laughs maniacally but instead trips down when Launchpad zooms by on the limo. He parks in front of the gate, opening the window and pressing the button on a small black box to get his boss' attention.
Launchpad: Howdy, Mr. McD! Don't worry, I'm not here to check on you on account of everyone moving out because the boys blame you for launching their mom to space and orphaning them…and Donald blames you for the loss of his twin sister and making him an only child. Magica quickly hides in the bushes and hears everything as Launchpad continues being unsubtle. I'm here to take you out for ice cream! Mmm, sounds good, right? Family crisis! He shakes his head, realizing what he said. I mean, ICE CREAM!
Scrooge: Go away.
Launchpad drops his face in sadness to hear the miserable tone in Scrooge's voice while Magica is comically completely outraged.
Magica: Out? Moved!? ICE CREAM!? Without those kids to let me in, how am I supposed to get my evil, EVIL VENGEANCE?! Magica is close to pulling out Lena's bottom eyebrows but calms down after a few deep breaths and crazily rubs her hands. No, I will defeat Scrooge McDuck. I am the dark shadow lying in wait! I am the stuff of nightmares lurking in the hidden recesses of your mind! I am-
She shouts in horror when car pulls back and heads right for her before jumping out of the way just as it crashes into bush. Launchpad takes his leave before Magica gets up looking at the box, hoping that her plan will work.
Magica: Alright. I just have to convince Scrooge I'm a typical little girl.
Unfortunately for her she's not acting like Lena at all and is giddily skipping towards box. It's obvious she hasn't cared about getting to know her niece. Luckily for her, no one Lena knows is there to see her and she speaks in her niece's voice.
Magica: Gee, whiz mister. It's me, that insufferable whelp, Lena. The little urchins invited me over too…uh…She quietly thinks. What do children like…? Play marbles!
Scrooge: The children are gone. Leave me alone…forever…
In a fit of rage Magica pulls on the box and punches it in frustration. She turns back comically growling over being unable to carry out her perfect plan merely because Scrooge is shutting her out but calms down, remembering that she's a mistress of manipulation. She smugly turns back to the box.
Magica: Aww…shucks. Webby said this would happen. Now Scrooge is interested.
Scrooge: What did she say?
Magica: That you wouldn't be able to handle the kids leaving and have an "old man meltdown." I thought better of you, guess I was wrong.
A couple of seconds later the gate opens up much to her satisfaction.
Magica is now in front of the manor itself and walks up the steps in sinister excitement.
Magica: At last. A vanquishing of the ages! A final clash between the sorceress of the shadows and the world's greatest adventurer: Scrooge Mc-!
She had her fists raised up just as Scrooge cuts her off by opening the door and revealing the broken state he's in. Everyone abandoning him has really taken a toll on the old man, now Scrooge is wearing just a torn, sweaty vest, he's covered in bruises and dirt and his expression is full of nothing but misery and hate. His head is tilted upward before groggily brings it down. Magica is absolutely baffled; this was not what she was expecting to see of her nemesis.
Magica: Wait, what?
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days (Xion Death Theme)
Donald was sitting against the wall again in his bedroom. He lets out a deep sigh as he thinks about everything that's happened. He and his uncle have cut ties for good this time and now the boys refuse to show much emotion around him anymore, not that he blames them after lying for so long.
Donald: How did this happen?
He looks up at the moon which is slowly being covered by the eclipse thinking about Della in outer space and the damage she has left.
Donald: Ohhh…Della…why did you do this to me?
Donald takes something out of his toon space. It appears to be a small brown package and written on it are two words: From Della. Donald longingly stares at it and proceeds to open it until he heard a knock on the door.
Donald: Who is it?
Daisy: It's me.
Donald: Come in. Daisy opens up the door and Donald gets up. Hey Daisy.
Daisy: Hi Donald. I came to check up on you. How are you holding up?
Donald: Could be better.
Daisy: Daisy notices the package and points at it. What's that in your hand?
Donald: Donald realizes he forgot to hide it. Oh! It's nothing! It's just…uh… Daisy pleadingly stares at his boyfriend who looks down in defeat. It's…just something Della left for me before she…you know…
Daisy: Daisy looks at her sailor boyfriend in confusion. And you've never opened it? Why?
Donald: I don't know…I keep trying to open it but…for some reason I just can't do it.
Daisy: Donald…are you…mad at Della?
Donald: Donald's face turns into that of shock at the thought. What!? What are you saying!? Of course not! I love Della!
Daisy: Daisy just walks up to him with compassion. Donald…there's no need to hide it. I know you love Della and I know you miss her…but at the same time part of you is angry at her because you feel like she abandoned you when she took the Spear of Selene, even though she never meant to.
Donald: Donald struggles to find a response. I…
Daisy: Daisy sweetly smiles at him as she caresses his cheek. It's okay to admit your feelings. I know you far too well and how sensitive you are. Talk me to Donald…I want to help you.
Seeing the beautiful and encouraging smile on Daisy's face helps Donald pluck up the courage to let out his feelings.
Unbeknownst to them the boys have their heads poked through the door as they listen in on their conversation.
He gives a deep sigh and relents.
Donald: I won't deny it Daisy. Part of me misses Della so much and I want nothing more than to have her back home…but…at the same time part of me is feeling resentful towards her. I warned her about the risks of going out into space but she ignored me overall and left me all alone in this world. And to top it all off she said hurtful things to me the last time she spoke. Donald looks down to the floor in shame thinking about his own last words. But I guess that's just me being a hypocrite…because I also said terrible things to Della before she disappeared into space.
Daisy: Daisy could only look on in sorrow. Oh, Donald…
Donald: When Della left me…I felt like I lost a part of myself. He sombrely shakes his head and looks down. No…I didn't feel anything…I did lose part of myself…I lost half of myself. My heart…half of it is empty. I keep thinking about our argument and what happened to her. His expression turns into that of self-hatred. If I hadn't lost my temper…If I had been by her side…she wouldn't have been blasted into space!
Dewey, Huey and Louie look to each other in concern and then to their uncle in sympathy.
Daisy: I…I know how you feel…
Donald: How would you know what I'm feeling? You weren't even there when it happened!?
Daisy: I know…because I've always been at your side whenever you needed me Donald. That…and Della was like a sister to me. The sister I wish I had.
Donald: Tell me something Daisy…Donald has his fists and the package noticeably clenched in frustration. Ever since Della disappeared I've felt nothing but pain whenever I think about her. I thought I was trying to protect my nephews from the truth…but really…I was only protecting myself. And now my boys…they all hate me now. You saw what happened Daisy…Huey, Dewey and Louie don't even trust me anymore! He looks up with an almost tearful expression but is unable to cry. I want to cry…I want to cry as loud as possible, but…my tears won't even come out.
After 5 seconds of silence Daisy holds Donald's cheeks with both hands much to his surprise. He's further surprised when his girlfriend brings him in for hug while whispering in his ear.
Daisy: You poor thing. Donald widens his eyes blushing a little. Donald…it's okay to cry as loudly as you want. At times like this don't hold back. There's nothing to be ashamed off. If you don't want me to see it then I'll leave you alone for a bit…okay…
Donald miserably nods just as Daisy takes her leave. The moment she does the boys run off into another hiding spot. Daisy has exited the room and the door closes. Now Donald is utterly alone. He looks back on everything that's happened: The death of his parents, the loss of his twin sister, the argument between him and his uncle and the words from his nephews 3 days ago. All of it washes over Donald's mind like a tidal wave and as a result tears stream down his face. Donald feels for those tears as they drop to the floor. At first Donald chokes on his cries and covers his ears before dropping down to his knees. His sobbing becomes louder and when he's unable to hold in any longer he lets go and unleashes the loudest and most hysterical cry he possibly could. A large amount of tears flow down Donald's face as he cries his loudest.
Daisy is secretly leaning against Donald's door, his cries are so loud and agonising they can be heard throughout the entire houseboat. Hearing his boyfriend in such anguish puts a heartbroken expression on Daisy's face as she begins to cry too and sobs quietly as the tears flow down.
Huey, Dewey and Louie were hidden beneath the couch where they also hear Donald's crying, making the sniff and cry themselves as well. They look to each other silently slowly realizing that they were too hard on their uncle but do not say anything as they walk out the boat to get the last of their stuff, though tears were still streaming down their faces.
Webby watches and hears her figurative uncle cry from the window and feels tears welling and flowing down her heartbroken face.
...
After Donald finishes crying Daisy on the kitchen chair with her head a little slumped down on the table with her own Gummiphone. On the screen were Mickey, Goofy and Minnie and Daisy has finished explaining what happened. The three of them on the phone were absolutely horrified and saddened to hear the events in the Sunchaser, Scrooge's argument with Donald, Huey, Dewey, Louie, Webby and Beakely, everyone leaving Scrooge in solitude and the secret of Della being revealed.
Daisy: And that's just about what happened.
Mickey: Oh gosh…I can't believe what just happened…
Minnie: Oh dear…this is terrible.
Daisy: I know…it's just awful. The entire family is falling apart.
Goofy: Gawrsh, Daisy…how's everyone holding up? How are the boys?
Daisy: Huey, Dewey and Louie are really upset and traumatized. They blame Scrooge for what happened to their Mom.
Minnie: Minnie clasps her hands in sorrow. Oh…poor Scrooge…he must be feeling absolutely devastated.
Daisy: I can only imagine.
Mickey: What about Donald?
Daisy: Donald is really heartbroken. I've never seen him so sad. The boys are mad at him for keeping Della a secret. They won't even speak to him anymore. The three at Disney castle lower their heads in sadness and Daisy shakes her while crying. I just don't know what to do you guys. I can't stand to see Donald so upset, it really breaks my heart.
Minnie: Minnie smiles reassuringly at her best lady-in-waiting/best friend. Don't cry Daisy. Everything will be okay.
Daisy: How is everything going to be okay? The entire family is falling apart and there's nothing I can do about it.
Mickey, Minnie and Goofy give off optimistic expressions and smiles of hope.
Goofy: Come on Daisy, don't look so glum. Things won't stay like this forever.
Mickey: Minnie and Goofy are right. The Duck Family won't stay apart like this for the rest of their lives.
Daisy: Daisy stops crying and sits up. You really think so?
Minnie: Minnie giggles. We know so. The Duck Family is far too strong to isolate themselves from each other.
Mickey: Mickey nods in agreement. Right. No matter what happens their hearts will always be connected. Donald, Scrooge, Dewey, Huey and Louie will always remember each other and the times they shared together. I have faith that their hearts will draw them together again.
Goofy: Right. Just like how Sora, Riku and Kairi were eventually drawn back together despite being separated for so long. Goofy does his signature laugh and Mickey points at him in delight.
Mickey: Exactly! And plus, I have faith in Donald. I know he's too strong to give up. No matter how hard things get he always puts gets back up and gives 100%!
Daisy: Daisy smiles at her three friends, seeing truth in their words. She gets up out of her seat brimming with confidence. You're right you guys! Thanks! No way am I giving up on Donald and there's no way I'm giving up on this family. I'm gonna do everything in my power to bring them back together!
Goofy: That's the spirit Daisy!
Minnie: We know you can do it!
Daisy: And besides. There's no way the boys can ever forget all the good times they had with Scrooge!
Launchpad parks near the boat just as the boys take the last of their stuff inside. The pilot walks by a bin and stops in surprise to see a box full of the artefacts they gained on their adventures with Scrooge.
A minute later Launchpad approaches the boys holding the box in his arms as Dewey and Huey hold one together and Louie holds a can of pep.
Launchpad: Hey guys. I think you misplaced this box.
Dewey storms over to his best friend.
Dewey: We're throwing that away.
He snatches it to throw the things in it away for real only to find it a little heavier than he thought, causing him to drop. Dewey gets up dusting himself as Webby walks up in shock to see how far they're going to forget Scrooge.
Webby: What!? The Druid Cup!?
She gives the trophy Scrooge and Dewey earned together to the latter before handing over the Mount Neverest t-shirt Scrooge had written over to Huey.
Webby: This Mount Neverest T-shirt!
Louie picks up the Golden Khopesh of Toth-ra that he used as a weapon to fight the Money Shark, Sword Horse and the Minotaur.
Webby: The Golden Khopesh of Toth-ra you used to protect Lena all those times. Those artefacts are special!
Daisy walks up looking equally shocked.
Daisy: She's right! Huey, Dewey, Louie! I know you three are angry at Scrooge but…to throw all the treasures you gained in all those adventures with him…do you three really want to do that? Those artefacts all hold the good times you shared with Uncle Scrooge. You three don't really want to forget about him do you?
Webby: Yeah. Are you guys really going to try and pretend Scrooge doesn't exist?
Dewey looks at his reflection in the trophy as though he's trying to remember all the good times he shared with Scrooge and consider Daisy and Webby's words but immediately frowns from replacing them with events of their trip to Monacrow.
Dewey: Of course we are? It's all just old junk now.
He walks up to the deck and tosses the Druid Cup away with all his might into the water, officially cutting ties with Scrooge forever. Huey follows his brother's example, albeit with a little regret on having to throw away good memories. He folds it up and places it on the water, letting float away before he brings up a bow and fire arrow which he launches without hesitation. The T-shirt is burned from afar and now it's Louie's turn. Louie walks up to the deck and his brothers are glaring at him to force him making the same decision, not caring for his love of gold. Louie deeply sighs as he takes a look at the sword he used to protect Lena. It kills him to waste gold but he has no choice.
Louie: Goodbye.
However, Louie's love for gold takes over and he seemingly tosses it only to quickly hide it behind his back while feigning to keep a lookout before looking to his brother.
Louie: Splooey!
He gives off a sheepish smile at his disappointed brothers who can see the Khopesh clearly sticking out from his back.
Huey: Seriously?
Dewey: You're still holding it.
Louie: …Fine…
Louie walks up and attempts to gently drop it in hesitation but Dewey who became seriously annoyed stomps over and snatches the Khopesh before tossing it into the water where it sinks to the bottom of Duckburg's ocean.
Louie in complete dismay had changed his mind at the last second and was shouting out his brothers held him back from diving into the water.
Louie: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, NO!
Donald could only sadly watch through the door window. His heart breaks upon seeing his nephews so heartbroken even though they try their best not to show it.
After the boys drag Louie inside, Launchpad walks up to Daisy and Webby who are looking quite sullen. Daisy immediately looks to Launchpad.
Daisy: Launchpad, did you check on Uncle Scrooge.
Launchpad: Launchpad sadly shakes his head. Sorry Mrs D, I tried. Mr McD won't let anyone in, even me.
Daisy: She sighs in sadness. This is so awful. Poor Uncle Scrooge must feel so devastated and heartbroken.
Launchpad: From the way he sounded on the black box I'd say he's trying to get rid of his emotions.
Webby: I can't believe it's really over. I mean, they're falling apart and they're a family. Are we next?
Launchpad and Daisy look to Webby compassionately as the purple loving duck bends down and puts her hands on Webby's shoulder and gently speaks.
Daisy: Don't worry Webby. It won't be like this forever, I promise. We'll always be a family no matter how far apart we are. And there's no way Donald and the boys can stay mad at Scrooge forever.
Launchpad: She's right. I've crashed literally hundreds of Mr McD's vehicles and he always gets over it. The boys will too.
Though, Louie is certainly not going to get over his Khopesh. He's wearing a diving suit and runs to the edge of the boat in the hopes of diving in the ocean to retrieve his Khopesh only for Dewey and Huey to arrive on time to pull him back.
Webby: I don't know. This feels different. They blame Scrooge for their Mom's disappearance. Donald has been angry at Scrooge for 10 years because he blames him for the loss of his sister and now the boys are angry at Donald for keeping it all a secret. It's a complete disaster.
The optimistic Launchpad throws up his hands without too much concern.
Launchpad: It'll blow over. He brings the girls in with his arms wrapped around them. They'll be a happy family living in the mansion before you know it.
Daisy: Daisy smiles admiringly at Launchpad's optimism and enthusiasm. Launchpad's right. The Duck family is far too strong to say broken apart forever. I'm sure once they clear their heads Donald and the boys will realize how much they miss and need Scrooge.
Launchpad: Besides, what could possibly drive them apart even further?
It was after that question Donald happily bursts out through the door with a pamphlet as Louie struggles to escape his brothers.
Donald: Boys! Good news! Where have you always wanted to go!?
Louie: Into the water to get my Khopesh!?
Donald: What!? No! He points to the pamphlet he's holding that shows and reads Cape Suzette. Cape Suzette! We're moving there tomorrow!
The boys' excitement level skyrockets so much that Louie forgets about his Khopesh and the three of them forget about their distance from Donald. They finally get to go to the one place they've always dreamed of going but were never able to go to because of his overprotectiveness and the three of them cross talk in excitement.
Dewey: CAPE SUZETTE, HERE WE COME!
Daisy, Webby and Launchpad overhear all of this and become horrified.
Daisy, Webby & Launchpad: THEY'RE MOVING TOMORROW!?
Daisy talks to Donald inside about moving to Cape Suzette while Launchpad and Webby are outside in a complete fit of panic in front of the limo.
Webby: We have no time! The only family I've ever known gone forever! Ohhhh! What do we do?!
Launchpad: This is bad! Real bad! He clutches his hat in panic. Will Dewey and I still be friends! Who will I call for advice!? And do they have phones in Cape Suzette!?
Webby: Okay, okay! One of us needs to stay calm here!
Launchpad: So…you?
Webby: Webby taps her chin and Launchpad nervously tents his hands. Uh…all we need is a simple plan to remind Donald, Scrooge and the boys how much they need each other.
Then a light bulb flashes inside their minds as they point to each other in excitement.
Webby & Launchpad: AN AMAZINGLY FUN AND ELABORATE FAREWELL DINNER PARTY SCHEME! Launchpad pumps his fists and Webby leaps up throwing hers in the air. YES/YEAH!
Webby steps on the limo as they go over the plan and she points with confidence.
Webby: Step 1: We throw the boys and Donald a farewell party to convince them they don't want to move!
Launchpad: Step 2: Reveal surprise guest: Scrooge! And remind them how much they all miss each other.
Webby: Step 3: There is no Step 3 because we just nailed it in 2 steps!
Believing their plan to be completely flawless, Launchpad and Webby raise their fists in excitement.
Webby & Launchpad: WOO-OO! They have a high-five only to accidentally hurt themselves, not realizing how strong the other was. Ow! Woo-oo!
As for Scrooge, He leads Lena (or rather Magica) into his home which is in a completely sorry state. The floor is littered with pizza, paper, tissue and pep (some drip from their cans and some pizzas are out of their box), his portraits aren't straight at all and the place has now become home to a couple of cockroaches. Magica accidentally steps on some cheese pizza and the state of her arch-nemesis' home completely disgusts her. She speaks in Lena's voice again.
Magica: Ugh! How long has your house-keeping staff been gone.
Scrooge: 3 days. He turns around in a slump. So how are my so-called "kin?" Miserable, no doubt, living on that disgusting boat with my deadbeat nephew who's name I refuse to mention. He gruffly crosses his arms. I'm obviously doing much better than they are. Literally seconds after saying that he spots a possum taking his pizza and chases it with a broom stick. Agh! Pesky possum keeps eating my anchovies!
It was at that moment the real Lena feels her eyes fill up with shadow and vomits out her aunt again who appears on the side of a stack of pizzas as Lena drops to the floor. She lifts herself off and catches her breath but black goo is connected to her eyes.
Lena: Scrooge!
Lena attempts to get him but Magica sends out another shadow goo that wraps around her beak, muffling her voice as Magica points over with her thumb.
Magica: That sad sack of feathers is not Scrooge!
Lena's screams are muffled as she is unable to escape her aunt's sticky grip. She grabs a louse pigeon and tosses it only for Magica to swiftly evade it.
Magica: The Scrooge McDuck I know is a shrewd, conquering hero of legend!
They could only deadpan to see Scrooge dejectedly rolling on the floor. When he stops he lazily attempts to bite a nearby pizza without bothering to reach out for it so he takes a piece of pizza out of his armpits. He takes a bite out of it before letting the possum eat it. Lena could only cringe in disgust. It's clear that the shrewd conquering hero of legend is now but a broken old man.
Magica: Unless…this is all a trick. Yes! That's it, of course! He senses something, he's trying to convince me he's a pathetic loser, hoping I'll make a mistake! She just laughs that off. You can't fool me Scroogie; I'm the one who fools!
Scrooge just crawls into a pizza box, though the delusional Magica is not buying it at all. She just grabs the potion from Lena.
Magica: One sip, lights out, grab the dime then I enact my vengeance! She laughs crazily and looks back to Lena. Thanks for the pep talk Lena!
And with that she returns inside Lena's body to enact her plan.
Daisy is talking with Donald as he takes things out of his box and puts them on the drawers, shelves and any place he can find. She has a pleading expression as she speaks.
Daisy: Donald, please reconsider! You're not serious about moving out of the Duckburg, are you!?
Donald: I am serious Daisy. He puts a picture on a table next to the couch. It's time I leave this city for me. It holds too many memories for me that I want to forget.
He goes over to a shelf where he places a couple of books as Daisy looks on in shock at what she's hearing.
Daisy: Donald, you can't mean that.
Donald: Donald hides his firm expression as he organises his books. I do mean it. This city holds nothing but painful memories for me, now.
Daisy: But it also holds good memories for you Donald. You shared so many wonderful adventures with Della, the boys and Scrooge! Don't tell me you want to throw all that away.
Donald: Donald stops moving and putting things away to speak. Daisy…I can't stay here anymore. I can't live in the same city as Uncle Scrooge, the city where I lost my parents and my sister blasted off from. All I want is for the boys to be happy. And the best way to do that now is to make a fresh start at Cape Suzette.
Daisy: Daisy becomes desperate as she holds out her hand. But, don't you see. You can make a fresh start…in this city…by giving Uncle Scrooge a chance.
Donald: I did give him a chance and he blew it. I've made my choice, Daisy. He turns around with a sad expression. There's no place for me here anymore. And I've bought enough pain to my boys.
Donald walks away dejectedly and Daisy sighs in sadness to see that it's going to end like this. She's taken out of it when she hears whispering behind her. She sees Launchpad and Webby tiptoe to the triplet's bedroom, making her raise an eyebrow in confusion.
Huey is in the triplet's room on their triple bunk bed reading the Cape Suzette pamphlet. Louie walks in with a laptop and gets on his bed.
Huey: It says here that Cape Suzette has a pretty neat park. They just got a second swing.
Louie: Louie looks searches on the internet but is a little disappointed with what he found. And the Cape Suzette saltine factory gives public tours. They let you sample the crackers at least.
Huey: Yeah.
Louie: All of a sudden Louie is not that excited anymore. I mean, this place used to sound exciting.
Dewey: Ho ho! They look at Dewey who's leaning by their door wearing a make shift sailor outfit along with a boatman hat and brown boat shoes. Meet the new Dewey! The dashing, debonair yachtsman of Cape Suzette! He walks in but cringes when he feels his shoes squeeze his feet. Ahh! Fancy boat shoes. He fights through the pain as he walks in and closes the door. Pain worth it for the fancy boat shoes.
The moment he closes the door a letter is slipped underneath. When he sees it he attempts to get it up but ends up dropping down. An annoyed Louie walks up and picks the letter himself. He opens and reads it aloud.
Louie: "Dear Hubert, Dewford and Lew- He mumble his real name. You are cordially invited to your own dining room for a dinner full of heart-warming memories and surprises. Will you attend? Yay or Nay?"
The boys look down to the door to see someone motioning them to pass the letter, immediately knowing it's Webby that's inviting them. Though they're confused the triplets throw up their hands, not minding too much since this is going to be the last they see their friends in Duckburg. Louie gets out a marker and ticks the "Yay!" box before placing it in front of the door. Webby takes it and when she and Launchpad look at their response they do not act secretive about their excitement.
Webby & Launchpad: They're coming! WOO-OOO!
They have a fist bump, two low-fives and ends with a chest bump. Launchpad falls on his back and Webby lands on her feet.
Webby: Now we just have to get Scrooge to show up! But how? And we're gonna have to be subtle.
They look to see Daisy stomp right in front of them with her hands angrily on her hips, making them cringe in surprise and fear.
Daisy: Webbigail Vanderquack, Launchpad McQuack, what is the meaning of this!? What are the two of you up to!?
Scenes shift outside where the three of them stand on the docks where Launchpad and Webby explain their plan.
Daisy: You're doing WHAT!?
Launchpad: Did you not hear or are you just surprised?
Daisy: The second one! You two are using a farewell party to set up Donald and the boys, guilt them into going back to the manor and force them and Scrooge to come together.
Webby and Launchpad have their fists pumped in giddy excitement.
Webby: You bet we are! It's a brilliant idea, isn't it Daisy!?
Launchpad: You should join us! With your motherly personality we'll be able to convince Donald, Dewey and his brothers how much they need Scrooge?
Daisy is appalled and she looks like she's about to peel varnish as she has her hands on her hips which the two are oblivious to.
Daisy: You expect me to actually help the two of you?
Webby: Yeah!
Daisy: You expect me…the lady-in-waiting of the Queen of Disney Town to take part in a weird, harebrained, immature scheme like this?
Launchpad: Yeah!
Daisy: Even though it's shameful and unfitting for royalty such as myself!
Webby & Launchpad: YEAH! Webby blinks.
One would think Daisy would blow up at the both of them for suggesting she takes part and for trying to scam the family into coming together but instead she gives her usual sweet smile.
Daisy: Count me in!
Webby: Really!?
Daisy: If this can help fix up the family then it's worth a shot.
Launchpad: Awesome! With you on board Mrs D I'm sure we can convince the Scrooge, Donald and the boys how much they miss each other!
Daisy: I assume you guys are planning to get Scrooge to come here.
Webby: Yeah. We were actually thinking of a subtle way to invite him.
Daisy: I can handle that. She proudly smiles. Subtlety is my specialty.
30 seconds later, Daisy is speaking on the phone with Scrooge and she does so in a subtle manner as Launchpad stands by her.
Daisy: Hi, Uncle Scrooge. Listen, I just thought you should know that Donald and the boys are moving to Cape Suzette. We're holding a farewell party in the houseboat and it would really mean a lot to some of us if you came. I know you're angry and upset but at least come to see everyone off. This'll be the last time you'll even see them. Webby grabs her attention and begins to charade eating food which Daisy immediately understands. There's free food~!
Scrooge: I'll be there.
Webby: Webby takes the phone and looks at it in surprise. You will!
Little do they know that it wasn't Scrooge speaking, but rather Magica making a perfect imitation of his voice, the real Scrooge is rummaging through the kitchen. She leans on against the wall as she speaks.
Magica: (Scrooge voice) But I'll only eat the finest lobster caviar canapés and make sure no one starts eating until I get there as I consider it the height of rudeness. Bless me bagpipes. Good day. She puts the phone back and rubs her hand sadistically after playing that little prank. (Normal voice) Ha! Dinner officially ruined, now, back to destroying Scrooge.
Scrooge: Where's that blasted nutmeg tea.
Magica: Magica sees the moment of opportunity and brings out her potion. Ooh! Convenient! (Lena's voice) Don't worry, I'll get it!
Donald was singing a tune as he brings out his frying pans and places them on their hangers. Everything in his house boat was ready for him and the boys to move to Cape Suzette. He checks the box one more time to see if there's anything left behind and sure enough there was.
He takes it out and stops singing when he sees that it's 3 separate pictures in one frame of him and Della.
The first one was the both of them as 6 year olds wearing male and female black sailor outfits with their arms held out in joy.
The second one is them as 12 year olds with their arms happily wrapped around each other with Della leaning on his shoulder. Donald was wearing a blue half-sleeved hoodie and Della was wearing her pilot attire but without the helmet.
And the final one was them as grown-ups, Donald was wearing his Royal Mage hat and Della was wearing a Viking's helmet.
Donald: Aww…Della…
Looking at these pictures causes him to tear up as the memories he shared with his sister washes over him like a tidal wave. Donald then looks deeper and takes out another item. He opens his palm to reveal the Wayfinder he had tossed in anger when he mourned over losing his sister. He looks at small item that connects the both of them no matter how far apart they are which he's never touched at all in 10 years.
Donald: Sis…did I do the right thing?
The Royal Court Magician thinks about everything that's happened with his family and the relationship between him and Scrooge as well as Daisy's words. Before he could think about it more Webby and Launchpad burst in much to his shock. They put bags on the oven and desks. Launchpad gets out food and Webby takes out the larger frying pan before getting a stool to use the oven while Daisy is in the dining table preparing everything.
Donald: Hey! What's the big idea!?
Webby: Didn't the boys tell you Uncle Donald? We're making you a heart-warming farewell dinner. Daisy's helping out too.
Webby puts on an innocent expression and Donald is suspicious considering the timing but decides to just play along since it is his last day in Duckburg.
Donald: Oh…fine…
He walks off and the duo of Webby and Launchpad gives each other the thumbs up.
As for Magica, she holds a cup of Scrooge's nutmeg tea and a vile of her potion. At first she pours in a couple of drops but then ignores subtlety for sadism by pouring have potion inside the tea while laughing.
She arrives in the boys former bedroom where she gasps in shock to see pizza boxes everywhere, even in the boys former bunk bed. Scrooge is pulling in a kart filled with stacks of pizza boxes.
Scrooge: One man's nephew's former bedroom is another man's pantry, I always say!
It was after that moment, the pile on top falls on him much to his frustration. Magica could only deadpan at how real Scrooge's pathetic state is.
Magica: He is very committed to this looking pathetic trap. She walks in and removes the boxes while offering up the tea. (Lena's voice) Have some tea. It'll settle you.
Scrooge: Thanks.
He takes the infected tea and proceeds to take a sip only to move it past his mouth and onto a nearby box to save it for later. Magica could only growl in fury at his increasing stubbornness. Scrooge takes two stacks of pizzas only to find some things hidden beneath a loose floorboard. He removes it to see items the boys forgot to take. One of Huey's Junior Woodchuck flags, gold Louie had pilfered and a sack full of marbles. The sight of these fond memories of his great nephew causes him to smile as he picks up the sack of marbles. He pours the blue, red and green one into his hand.
Scrooge: Sweet playful marbles. Three to a bag; red, green and that rascal blue marble always rolling whichever way it wants.
Magica takes the tea and Scrooge fondly rubs the blue marble with a sweet smile. But the moment he remembers what his nephew and great-nephews said and did to him he frowns in anger and hatred.
Scrooge: …And ungrateful the lot of them at every turn, after all I did for them, they just throw it in my face!
He tosses away the marbles just as Magica leans on the stacks trying to play along while trying to understand what his nemesis is talking about as he sits down.
Lena: Yeah, there's nothing worse than marbles. Tea?
Scrooge: I'm talking about family!
Lena: Ugh…tell me about it. She sits up in agreement. They disobey you, run you ragged, don't follow through on elaborate revenge plots.
As he speaks he walks over and bends down miserably and hatefully in front of stack of boxes witch red, blue and green faces drawn on them to represent the triplets and a box with a sailor hat to represent Donald.
Scrooge: They spend your money, take over your home, cause trouble, ward their way into your heads with fond memories that you cannae get out NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY!
Magica slides by with the cup of potion playfully held out just as Scrooge slams his fist on the floor.
Lena: Cheers! To ridding fond memories!
Scrooge stomps past her and grumpily sits on a thrown made out of pizza boxes.
Scrooge: And then they leave without so much as a thank you!
Lena: Forget family! Who needs 'em?
Scrooge: I'll drink to that!
He finally takes the cup and gets ready to take a sip of tea. Magica is on the verge of her excitement exploding but that was ruined when a pizza box slides down from the top, landing on Scrooge's face and spilling the tea much to the witch's frustration.
Magica: (Normal voice) Of all the idiotic…! She calms down, not wanting to blow her cover. (Lena's voice) I mean I'll go get you another!
It looks like getting that dime isn't going to be as easy Magica thought it'd be, even when she's possessing the body of her niece.
To be continued…
Phew. Looks like getting that dime isn't going to be as easy as Magica thought it would be. But in his current emotional state Scrooge is extremely vulnerable and prone to manipulation. Is Magica going to succeed? Can Lena fight back before it's too late? Can Daisy, Webby and Launchpad pull of their party scheme and convince Donald and the boys to forgive Scrooge?
In the next part, Beakely decides to provide some assistance to Daisy, Webby and Launchpad as she also desires to bring the family back together. The secret of Scrooge's Number One Dime is soon to be revealed.
