Aftermath – Sonny in torpedo tube
Everyone made it back, and Jason told the team to go home, get some rest, and then come back to the hospital to see Sonny. His team needed a break, and he would give them one.
Clay left in a tired haze with Ray patting him on the shoulder before getting in his car and heading home to his family. Clay paused before opening the door to his car and pulled out his phone.
No one checked on Davis this whole time. They were all so wrapped up in Sonny surviving that they forgot about the rest of Bravo team back on base.
'Where are you?' He texted her.
'Home.'
'Want some company?'
She didn't respond, and he hopped in his car and went to her anyway. He pulled out the parking lot when he heard his phone ring.
"Clay-" she said before he could even say hello. He didn't like the way she sounded. Her voice was not her. "I – no one…How is he?" She finally said.
"Lisa, he's alright now, Jason is with him…" He spoke to her softly "No one told you?" He asked quickly getting upset that she may have been left in the dark by all of them.
"E-Everyone is busy…It's no big deal." She whispered.
He sighed and ran his free hand over his face as he sat at the red light.
"I'm sorry I didn't say anything,"
"No! All of you were worried…I get it. Don't beat yourself up over it." She tried to pacify him, but he still hated that he left her in the dark.
"I'm about two minutes out, so I should be over soon." He said after a moment. "I'm coming Davis." He told her softly. "I'll be there."
"Okay." She breathed and chewed her bottom lip. "Thank you."
Later, she heard a knock, and when she opened the door, Clay stretched his hand out to her. She stood, staring at him.
This entire day messed her up. Sonny was her Sonny. Her friend. Brother. The Godfather to her sister's baby. He was family, and to have him nearly taken from them so quickly was too much.
"Hey," he cooed as he made his way into her home, closing the door behind him, "I've got you." He ran his hands up her arms and held her face in his hands. "Sonny's alright. He's alright." He whispered. Pressing a kiss to her forehead, he pulled her close and let her tears soak his shirt. "He's alright Lisa." He repeated. "I'm here." He kissed her hair and held her close.
"Clay," she started and hiccupped.
"Hey there, I'm here." He kept his hold on her and shuffled them to her couch. "Don't you worry anymore." He drawled softly as he settled them against the arm of the couch. "Quinn will be alright." She nodded against him.
Taking a deep breath, she looked up at him from her position on his chest and finally said what's been bothering her the most, "If it was you in there-"
"Don't think like that." He warned her. "Don't go there Lisa. I'm out, Sonny is out. Don't make yourself choose, and don't torture yourself like that." He tightened his grip on her and pressed a hard kiss to her lips that stopped her short of saying anything else. "You've got all of us. We're not going anywhere. We won't make you choose." He promised her.
She dropped her head onto his chest and murmured, "You can't promise me that." She shook her head, "You can't promise me that Clay." She cried.
"I can promise you that you will not have to choose between your love for me and anyone of your brothers on the team. I want you to love them, to worry over them. I don't want you thinking about who you can lose, and who you can or can't live without. We're all here with you Davis for as long as we have."
She moved up his body and kissed him.
"I love you Clay." She whispered against his lips.
"I love you too Davis." He grunted as he shifted them so that she was beneath him. He knew she wasn't tying to do anything, so he did what he knew she needed.
He moved so that his head was on her chest and her legs were wrapped around his torso. She held him. Counted his soft breaths against the exposed skin on her neck. Ran her fingers through the mop of blonde hair on his head and closed her eyes.
Quinn was alright, and Clay was here with her.
Her family is okay.
Her love is breathing and in her arms.
