A/N: And here's the Thorki one. This is similar to my fic I'm Here, just a little more emotional. Enjoy!
Disclaimer: Nope. Not mine. *cries* Unfortunately. Marvel owns the characters, Daughtry owns the song lyrics.
"All the words that I come up with
They're like gasoline on flames...
There's no excuse, no explanation
Believe me, if I could undo what I did wrong
I'd give away all that I own..."
Loki stood facing Thor, who hadn't noticed him yet, and smiled softly to himself. They'd all been through hell the last few days, yet Thor still managed to come out of it looking no worse for the wear. Aside from the missing eye, that is.
Thor appeared to be examining the new eye patch. Loki decided to announce his presence.
"It suits you."
Thor turned to face him, his one electric blue eye somewhat dull after all they'd been through in the last few days. Weeks. Months. Whatever it had been.
"Well, maybe you're not so bad after all, brother," Thor said, picking up a decanter top and flipping it in his hand with a small smile.
Loki smiled slightly back. "Maybe not."
"Thank you," Thor said, and those two words were filled with a lot more emotion than Loki thought they'd be. "You know, if you were here, I might even give you a hug."
Thor threw the decanter top at Loki. Loki had gotten used to having things thrown at him by now, to see if he was a mirage, and expected this one. With reflexes quick as lightning, Loki reached up and caught the decanter.
"I'm here," Loki said, and this time his smile was real. It might have been the first real smile Loki had given anyone in years.
"After everything we've been through, just seeing you smile feels like I've been transported back to another time, before all this," Thor said. "A time where I loved you."
Loki's heart skipped a beat. "Did you ever stop?" he whispered.
Thor hesitated a moment before replying, "No. I never stopped loving you, Loki."
Loki met Thor halfway across the room, stopping just shy of actually hugging him. This was as close as the two gods had gotten in a long time - excluding when they were forced to be close together in a confined space. Loki thought back to all those times he'd had to be pressed against Thor for some reason or another and how he'd secretly loved it. He'd been head over heels in love with Thor for a long time, and everything he'd done in the past few years hurt like knives. He'd never wanted to hurt Thor.
Thor tentatively reached out and took Loki's hand, sending a shiver down Loki's spine and making his heart jump again.
"Loki..." Thor breathed, just his name, and Loki finally allowed himself to break.
"Thor...When I say I'm sorry, will you believe me?" Loki asked.
"Of course I'll believe you, Loki," Thor murmured. "I've always been far too trusting, but you're my brother. Of course I'll believe you."
"Thor, I'm so sorry," Loki said. "For...everything. Jotunheim, New York, Svartalfheim, taking over Asgard, Sakaar, now Ragnarok...I'm so sorry. I never wanted to hurt you. I don't know if you'll believe me when I say that if I could undo everything that I did wrong, I'd give away all that I own. I'd give up my magic if I could undo the events of the past few years. But then, if I did that, I wouldn't be standing here as a changed man, would I?" Loki shook his head bitterly. "Believe me, all of the shit that's gone down in the last few years that has happened because of me...it left scars, Thor, it really did. And now..."
Loki met Thor's one good eye with his own emerald green pair, all his anguish and pain and sorrow reflected brightly in his eyes.
"I can't pretend anymore, Thor," Loki sighed. "I can't ignore how I feel. I can't lie to myself anymore."
"What are you saying, Loki?" Thor murmured.
"Thor, I love you," Loki said. "I love you far more than a brother. I mean I am completely and totally in love with you."
"Oh, Loki, I thought you knew - when I said I never stopped loving you, I meant that I only fell more and more deeply in love with you," Thor said. "I love you, too."
Loki smiled, not quite able to believe what he was hearing. "Even after all I've done?"
"Even after all you've done," Thor confirmed.
Loki kissed him.
He didn't remember making the conscious decision to, and barely remembered moving, but one moment they were standing hand in hand and the next Loki was on his toes, kissing Thor. Why did Thor have to be so fucking tall? Loki was tall himself, and still Thor was taller than him by about a head.
After a moment, Loki felt Thor lower his head a little and return the kiss. Loki felt Thor wrap him in a warm, protective embrace, and slid his own arms around Thor's waist and back respectively, drawing him closer. He took the kiss deep when Thor let him, and only pulled away when he needed to breathe.
"Not bad for a first kiss," Thor teased. Loki laughed - a real, genuine, warm laugh - and buried his face in Thor's throat.
"Believe it or not," Loki replied, sounding slightly muffled, "you are not the first guy I've ever kissed."
"Really? Who was he?" Thor asked.
"Remember a few centuries ago, when on Earth it was the eighteen hundreds?" Loki asked.
"Sort of?"
"When Father sent me to Earth to investigate the rumors of magic-induced deaths?"
"Oh! Yeah. That."
"His name was Theo. He was really kind of adorable, and so obviously gay that I'm still amazed he wasn't treated worse than he was. But when we were on that train, just before we went back out there to fight Amora, he kissed me."
"I take it he had a crush on you?"
Loki rolled his eyes. "Please. He was head over heels from the moment we met. 'Crush' doesn't even begin to describe it. And yeah, maybe I kinda sorta had feelings for him too, but they weren't strong enough to actually take him back to Asgard with me like I'd told him I would."
"You and your silver tongue," Thor teased.
"A gift from my father, I think," Loki said. The subject of his father was no longer as sore as it used to be.
"I love you, Loki," Thor sighed.
Loki smiled, feeling like his world was finally falling into place. "I love you, too."
"When I say I'm sorry,
Will you believe me?
Listen to my story,
Say you won't leave me...
When I say I'm sorry,
Can you forgive me?
When I say I'll always be there
Will you believe?"
Review please! :D
