Kion and his mate Rani lay down at the very edge of a cliff admiring the sunset.
"This is great. Just you and me." Purrs Rani as she nuzzles her mate.
"Yeah it is, I forgot the last time we we're able to have some piece and quiet." He says with a nuzzle of his own, but just as he does he hears footsteps behind them, and jumps around to face down the moment wrecker.
"Kion, it's just me." Says the wrecker, and Kion sighs.
"Oh hey Bunga, you startled me." Says Kion with a slight laugh, "What you doing here anyway?"
"I just came by to tell you that a messenger bird is waiting to tell you something." He says, and Kion tilts his head.
"A messenger bird? But from where?" He asks as he walks towards the Tree of Life, wondering what's going on, "You wanna hear this Rani?"
"Yeah sure, it's probably important." She says as she walks towards Kion, "After all whatever it is we deal with it together." She says with a quick nuzzle.
"Yeah we can." He responds with a worried smile on his face hoping that it's nothing bad.
When they arrive at the Tree of Life Kion immediately recognizes the type bird standing there awaiting his arrival.
"That bird is from the Pride Lands." He says getting even more worried, "Hopefully it's good news."
"Ah King Kion, Queen Rani nice to see you guys here." Says the bird with a bow, "I have an invitation from the Queen Kiara of the Pride Lands."
"Invitation? For what?" Asks Kion and the bird looks at the lion.
"For the wedding of course." Says the bird still bowing.
"Wedding? My sister is getting married?" He asks hope in his voice.
"Yes and that's why I'm here, to inform you of the date and when you best be getting there." It says as it stops bowing, "The queen will be getting married in approximately five sunrises and sunsets. So taking in how long it'll take you to get there you must be leaving by next sunrise." It says and Kion looks at Rani eyes wide.
"That gives like no time at all to tell the others, and get this place ready for when we leave." He says worried.
"That's no problem, after all I bet my brother will be more than happy to rule over the Tree of Life while we're gone." She says with a laugh, "Trust me you have nothing to worry about."
Later...
"What do you mean that you'll be gone for a while?!" Asks Baylio when Rani tells him the news.
"I mean that you'll be taking care of the Tree of Life for us when we're gone." She says calmly, "After all when we were cubs you always talked how much you wanted to be king."
"That was a long time ago, but now with you being queen and all I've had to lead the Night Pride." He says walking in circles, "What will I about that?"
"The same thing I did, plus no one has attacked the Tree of Life sense Kion and his friends arrived." She says with a nuzzle, "You'll be fine."
"I guess, but you have to promise that as soon as the wedding and ceremony is over you'll come right back." He says still worried.
"I promise, now get ready in the morning you'll be the King of the Tree of Life." She says as she walks away, and sighs, "Now that, that's over I can deal with the others. Unless Kion already did that. But knowing him he's most likely asleep by now."
Back at the Tree of Life itself...
Kion gets back from telling the Night Guard (What he called the old Lion Guard and the team that he led) that he'd be gone for a while because of his sister's wedding, and that while he's gone that Fuli was the leader. Mostly because he didn't trust anyone else enough to lead it fearing that in the short time he's gone that it would fall apart.
"Where is Rani?" He asks his Royal Mujzi Makini, "She should be back by now. Shouldn't she?"
"Yeah but I'm guessing she got stuck telling Baylio about how you guys are going to be leaving, and how he's gonna be king for a little while." She says, "You know how he can be."
"Yeah I do, unfortunately after all he is my brother in law now." He says with a slight laugh, as he walks towards where he and his mate sleep and lays down closing his eyes.
Midnight...
Kion wakes up not really being able to sleep, still worrying about what will happen when they leave in the morning. Even though no one has been dumb to attack the Tree of Life they might take a chance if word spreads that the King and Queen will be gone a trip that they will. He gets up and walks out to find Rani also still awake looking at the full moon, "Hey Rani what are you doing up so late?" He asks.
"I'm just admiring the full moon before we go, for who really knows how long." She says as her mate sits next to her, "You?"
"I'm worried about what will happen when we're gone." He says not being afraid to admit that around her, "What if someone attacks the Tree while we're gone?"
"Baylio and the others will kick them out, trust me the Tree is safe even while we're gone." She says nuzzling Kion.
"I know but if something happens to any of them..."
"Don't think about that because it's not gonna happen." She says cutting off her mate from finishing, "Now let's get some rest we have to leave at first light."
Morning...
Kion and Rani wake up ready for the journey ahead, and just before they leave they say their goodbyes.
"Baylio I trust you to take my place while I'm gone." Says Kion and his brother in law nudges him.
"Don't worry Kion it'll be fine, you have nothing to worry about." He says laughing, "Now you go and head back to your birth lands."
And with that Kion nods, and they walk away starting there journey.
