Chapter 2: The Other Mario Brothers
(Mario and Luigi's house in the morning)
Mario and Luigi were enjoying breakfast, but they both looked like they had woken up on the wrong side of the bed. Obviously still shaken up from that dream they had the previous night.
Luigi- Shit…feels like I slept under a rock…
Mario- I know. But at least it's a peaceful morning.
Luigi- For now, that is. I'm sure you know that it's only a matter of time before something like Bowser or Tabuu ruins the moment.
Mario- I know, but let's just enjoy our breakfast while we can.
Mario and Luigi began eating their bacon and eggs for a few minutes. Eventually, Toad rushes into their house and ran up to Mario and Luigi.
Toad- Mario, Luigi, I need you to come to the castle!
Mario- What's up this time, Toad? Bowser at it again?
Toad- No, not this time. Kyrin came to the castle and asked Princess Peach if she could summon you, because there is something he wants to discuss with the two of you.
(Princess Peach's throne room)
Princess Peach, Toadsworth, and Kyrin were standing in the throne room while waiting for Mario and Luigi. Eventually, Toad led the Mario Brothers into the room.
Princess Peach- Mario, Luigi, you made it.
Mario- I'm guessing this has something to do with Tabuu.
Kyrin- You could say that. First let me ask, have you and/or Luigi been having any strange dreams lately?
Luigi- Now that you mention it, we did have one last night.
Mario- Yeah, and strangely enough, it was the same dream at the same time.
Kyrin- …shit…
Mario- Is something wrong, Kyrin?
Kyrin- Let me ask another question. Was the person who you were in that dream a man named Marco?
Mario- How did you know?
Luigi- Actually, I think I was someone named Loewy in my dream.
Princess Peach- Oh my…it really is just like you said, Kyrin.
Mario- What are you talking about? What's going on?
Kyrin- Fine.
Kyrin pulls out a book and shows Mario and Luigi a picture of a man who looked like Mario and a man who looked like Luigi.
Mario- Hey, those are the two brothers from our dreams!
Kyrin- There is a reason you've been having dreams about Marco.
Mario- Marco…?
Kyrin- Mario…Luigi…allow me to introduce you to Marco Mario…the leader of the original Super Mario Brothers' Team…your ancestor who defeated Tabuu…and…my closest friend…
Mario- That man…Marco Mario…he's our ancestor you and Tabuu keep telling us about since season 1?
Luigi- Hang on a minute…who is that guy in green standing next to Marco?
Kyrin- Well, you obviously can't have the Mario Brothers without the other brother. This is Loewy Mario, Marco's twin brother.
Princess Peach and Toadsworth took a look at the picture in the book too.
Princess Peach- I guess that would make him your ancestor as well.
Toadsworth- But Master Marco resembles Master Mario more while Master Loewy resembles Master Luigi more. That is a bit odd.
Mario- But why are we dreaming about our ancestors?
Kyrin- It's because Marco is trying to warn you.
Luigi- Warn us about what?
Kyrin- Do you recall how the other members of your team has been claiming to have strange dream lately? Donkey was dreaming about large gorilla named King Kong, Link was dreaming about a swordsman who refers to himself as Wolf, Kirby was dreaming about a female Star Warrior named Kimberly, Ash was dreaming about a prince who was also a skilled Poke'mon Trainer named Calmly, Sonic was dreaming about a former hedgehog god named Chaos the Hedgehog, Ty was dreaming about a thief named Simba the Tasmanian Tiger, Pit was dreaming about an angel that used to be captain of Palutena's guard named Icarus, and Shantae was dreaming about her mother, Azra.
Luigi- You're point?
Kyrin (mutters)- Boy, you really are just as slow on the intake at Loewy.
Kyrin then turns the page in the book and reveals a different picture. It still had the man who looked like Mario and the man who looked like Luigi. However, there was a small group standing next to the two brothers. One was a gorilla that looked like Donkey Kong, only he wasn't wearing a tie and he looked he was twice Donkey Kong's size. Another was a swordsman wearing the pelt of a gray wolf over most of his body, eight daggers being held in the webbings of his hands, and the Master Sword held sideways in between his teeth. Another was a female Star Warrior who looked like she was a lighter shade of pink than Kirby, a red bow on the right side of her head, three long eyelashes on the corners of each of her eyes, and a bit of makeup on her face. Another was a prince that looked like Ash, only he had a rapier sword sheathed on his left hip, a Pikachu that looked similar to Ash's Pikachu sitting on the prince's shoulders, and the prince was riding on the back of a Poke'mon that appears to be a Ho-Oh. Another was a hedgehog that looked like Sonic, only his fur was snow white instead of blue and he had a cyan blue scarf wrapped around his neck, but he did have the same emerald green eyes as Sonic and he was rubbing his finger under his nose like Sonic. Another was a Tasmanian tiger who looked like Ty, only his fur was gray instead of orange, carried on large boomerang instead of two smaller boomerangs, a scar covering his right eye which kept it permanently closed, and a lit tobacco pipe in his mouth. Another was an angel that looked similar to Pit, except his face looked a bit younger. And the last was a genie who looked like an older and taller version of Shantae.
Kyrin- These were the individuals the other members of your team have been dreaming about. They were the members of the team Marco and Loewy assembled 1,000 years ago. And those dreams that they experienced were actually the members of Marco's team sharing their memories of the past. Right before my father banished Tabuu into Subspace, Marco grabbed a piece of Tabuu's soul. Which was the reason why could only have access to 80% of his power when you first met him. Marco showed it to his team on what to do with it. They decided to divide that piece of Tabuu's soul even further and each chose their own hiding place. But Tabuu has figured it out, because he's been having his followers setting disasters that were locked away 1,000 years ago to reoccur since the fifth season of this fanfiction series began. I'm sure you also remember when you went to rescue Pyrrhon from Subspace, he had regained 90%.
Mario- I remember that. Not only was he stronger, but just about nothing me, Sonic, Kirby, or Pit tried managed to even hurt him.
Kyrin- Hate to break it to you, but he's now at 98%.
Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, and Toadsworth at the same time- WHAT?!
Kyrin- Afraid so. Even worse, the only parts of his soul that he hasn't reclaimed were the pieces Marco and Loewy hid.
Princess Peach- And where did Marco and Loewy hide theirs?
Kyrin- Tabuu was not the only archnemesis Marco and Loewy had made. In fact, Bowser was not the first Koopa King to try and take over the Mushroom Kingdom. There was a Koopa King named Slicor Koopa who ruled Dark Land 1,000 years ago. During his first invasion, I gave Marco and Loewy their powers and they inspired the other Toads to fight back against the Koopas and they managed to drive King Slicor out of the Mushroom Kingdom. But one year later, and some time after Marco formed his team, Slicor returned to the Mushroom Kingdom for a second attempt. But Slicor Koopa also brought along a new weapon that he had been developing for a year. It was called the Ultimate Star Cannon. A laser cannon fueled by Power Stars that could shoot a laser beam that could create explosions as powerful as the atomic bomb and could rapid fire like a railgun. I think it's obvious that's where Tabuu will go after next.
Mario- Now that you mention it, I think I remember hearing about the Ultimate Star Cannon in that dream last night.
Kyrin- Then I guess that confirms that that's where the next piece of Tabuu's soul is hidden. Otherwise, Marco and Loewy wouldn't be sending you that warning through your dreams.
Princess Peach- And where is this Ultimate Star Cannon?
Kyrin- Afraid only Marco, Chaos, and Simba knew that. After they defeated King Slicor, Marco asked two of his teammates dismantle it and hide its remains.
Luigi- Well, if it's destroyed, why worry about a broken weapon?
Kyrin- You might not have had the technology to repair the damage it had taken 1,000 years ago, but with the technology you mortals have developed now adays…I think you get the idea. Point it, you had best keep your eyes peeled for Tabuu or any or his followers. After all, Marco and Loewy's hiding places are the only ones left to prevent Tabuu from regaining 100% of his power.
Mario- And we can't have that! I think Luigi and I should try and find this Ultimate Star Cannon before Tabuu does.
Kyrin- Very well, Mario.
Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, and Toadsworth left the room leaving Kyrin alone.
Kyrin- (Sigh)…it is true that we most keep the remaining pieces of Tabuu's soul away from my brother if we can, but truth is…it's not the real final pieces…
(Flashback to 1,000 years ago)
Palutena- I divided that fraction of Tabuu's soul even further and gave each one to you. Just think of a hiding place and it will go there automatically.
Tasmanian tiger who looked like Ty- Hmm…the swamp where I buried Black Jack and me old tabaco box is the best place I can think of.
Angel who looked like Pit- Typical, you'd think of your tabaco.
Tasmanian tiger who looked like Ty- Hey! For your information, I gave up smoking some time ago, mate!
Angel who looked like Pit- Alright, Simba! You don't have to shout at me. Let's see…the depths of Tartarus where Lady Palutena and I imprisoned Kronos and the other Greek Titians!
Hedgehog who looked like Sonic- Balrock's tomb seems like a good place since it's already next to impossible to locate on its own.
Genie who looked like Shantae- My dark sister's lamp she's imprisoned in.
Gorilla who looked like Donkey Kong- Uh…Best place King Kong think of is volcano where King Tyrannosaurus locked up.
Female Star Warrior who looked like Kirby- Shiver Star's moon where I left Paintia in that crystal.
Swordsman in the wolf's pelt- The pieces of the Negative Triforce Hylia scattered across the Dark World of Hyrule.
Prince who looked like Ash- The Dragon Force, since the only way to make it appear again is to reactivate that damned machine, but that's never gonna happen again.
Man who looked like Luigi- Best place I can think of is where we hid the pieces of King Koopa's Ultimate Star Cannon. What about you, Marco? Where do you choose to hide your piece of Tabuu's soul?
Man who looked like Mario- Where…hmm…Actually…I thinking more of a who…
(End of the flashback and back at Princess Peach's castle)
Kyrin was still standing in the throne room by himself, but there was a noticeable glowing object inside his body.
Kyrin- I have to keep the real final piece away from Tabuu at all cost.
(Castle Koopa)
Bowser was in his bathroom taking a shower while singing the songs of boybands as he rubbed the bar of soap around his body. Little did Bowser noticed was a small portal opened up in his room from Subspace.
Fawful- Wow! Koopa King no American idol, Fawful tell you that much…
Tabuu- At least he's distracted a bit, so he won't notice us. Now let's see if I still have my Frisbee skills.
Then Tabuu tossed the book like a Frisbee and it flew through the door to Bowser's bathroom that he left open.
Bowser- Ow! My eye!
Tabuu- And now's our que to go, Fawful.
Tabuu snapped his fingers and the portal closed. Not long after that, Bowser stormed out of his bathroom while wearing a bath towel and the book apparently stuck in his eye.
Bowser- Alright, who's the wise guy?!
Bowser looked around with his…eye…and didn't see anyone in his room.
Bowser- Fine, I'll deal with the prankster who threw a book at me later. KAMEK!
Then Kamek rushed into Bowser's room.
Kamek- You called, your grouchiness? Oh my…uh…have you taken up reading, Lord Bowser?
Bowser- Just get this ****ing book out of my eye.
Kamek- Yes, your nastiness!
Kamek reached up and grabbed hold of the book in Bowser's eye. Eventually, he managed to yank the book out of Bowser's eye.
Kamek- How on earth did a book this small manage to get wedged into King Bowser's eye like that?
Then Kamek saw the symbol on the front cover of the black book in his hand.
Kamek- What is this?
Bowser- Who ****ing cares?! That stupid hit me in the face earlier. Better off in the fireplace!
Kamek- Hold on, Lord Bowser! Your family symbol is on this book! My lord, this is not something we should be throwing away!
Bowser walked over and took the book from Kamek.
Bowser- What could possibly be so special about this piece of junk? Huh…who is this…King Slicor Koopa?
Kamek- I've heard that name before. I believe he was a previous King of the Koopa's that ruled over Dark Land 1,000 years ago.
Bowser- Oh really? There's no way this guy could be as great of a king as Bowser!
Bowser actually began reading the first few pages of the book and started to become interested.
Bowser- Wow! I'm actually impressed. This King Slicor Koopa was truly an evil and powerful force to be reckoned with. This guy actually might be worthy of the title of Koopa King after all. Huh…What the ****?!
Kamek- Something wrong, Lord Bowser?
Bowser- Surprise, surprise…turns out this Slicor Koopa had a Mario Brothers infestation like I do which kept getting in his way to take over the Mushroom Kingdom. It appears the Mario Brothers have plagued us Koopa King's even before I rain. But hello…what's this?
Bowser took another look at the book and noticed a part he hadn't read yet.
Bowser- Says King Slicor Koopa created some kind of weapon…the Ultimate Star Cannon…
