Blood...
Must feed...
So Hungry...
These words kept echoing in my consciences over and over again gradually pushing me towards the edge of my sanity. My head throbbing as if it was going to explode at any minute. While I have my eyes completely shut from all the pain, I could sense that they are glowing into that unusual shade of purple again; it's been doing that ever since the incident...
Come on, babe? Just a quick bite and it's all going to be over...
...
...don't worry. I'll be gentle...
I immediately opened my eyes panting as if all my breath was taken away. My body felt so numb after having to hear that voice in my head again. While sweating like crazy, I lie there on this old office couch staring at the ceiling. I covered my eyes with my arm once again removing my ability to see; As much as I tried, I can't seem to force myself to remember any detail from that incident. Hunger once more slipped into my system causing me lift my arms away from my eyes. My vision was fuzzy and everything around me appeared to have lost color, expect for that lone light bulb on the ceiling; it was flickering again and again. As a few seconds passed by, the flickering started to drive me to the edge my hunger until...
...
I gathered every ounce of strength I had left and sat right up on the couch.
"I need to get out of this place!" I grabbed my jacket from the desk, quickly put it on and proceeded to head to the door. I was about to turn the doorknob when I glanced at my watch and saw the time.
"it's getting late..." I remembered that guards are posted around the safe rooms when night falls. I understand that it's safe measure, but I'm going to go insane when I stay here any longer.
"fuck it..." I mumbled as I quickly turned the knob and pushed the door. After seeing that there was no one outside, I placed my hoodie up and paced out of the room.
"I need to go to the park, where there are no people around..." I thought to myself while I turned to the nearest exit.
"Where do you think you're going?" The startling question caught me off guard making my body stiffen from where I stand.
"Shit not now..." I mumbled quietly to myself as I slowly looked back to see a familiar face.
"Hey Eddie," I responded attempting to not show any sign of struggle in my voice.
Edward Jones, or Eddie, is one the station deputies...or he was, until this apocalypse fucked this town over. I can't afford to stay here any longer... I don't know how long until I lose control...
After walking in front of me, he looked at me with a serious look on his face.
"Riley, we both know that you're supposed to stay indoors when night falls."
Just as I just stood still with the sensation of my fangs growing ever so slightly within my mouth was tough to suppress; I immediately look down on the ground hiding my face with my hoodie. The urge to simply bite his neck sucking every drop his blood out was getting unbearable.
"It's still twilight. I'm just going to get some fresh air from the park..." I said while struggling to keep myself under control.
"Sorry I have orders to--" Now cutting him off before he can fully explain his whole deputy duties, I abruptly lifted my head, looked at him directly in the eyes and said:
"I need to go, so for god, sake get out of my way!"
Eddie didn't reply; he just remained motionless and looked at me with a blank expression his face. I eyed him as he slowly moved to the side still showing no sign of emotion on his face.
In spite of having no idea what just happened, I just shook it off and ran off to the exit...

@ Town Park
Just as I reach the park my mind is starting to get hazy making it exceedingly difficult to walk; it didn't take long until I completely gave out and lost my footing. I dropped down the concrete path. All my strength appears to have left me as I just helplessly lay there. I remained motionless on the floor suffering from what assume to be the pain of hunger. All hope was lost for me till...
...I sense movement near me, and managed to catch a scent of something I've been longing for; so in a matter of seconds, I was galvanized when my body began to get invigorated. Now without hesitation, I quickly rose up from the ground as my eyes made its way to what was giving off such as appetizing scent.
"Blood..." I muttered between my teeth as my little fangs started to grow. I could feel my eyes gleaming with the urge to feed. The ecstasy I was feeling instantly vanished when I realized where the scent was coming from.
"Parker..." I gasped while gawking at a Golden Retriever right in front of me.
The community park dog, Parker. He's like the community dog; no one, in particular, owns him, so he just wandered around the park. He doesn't really cause trouble so we just let him walk around. This dog is really special, but... he just had to be right here at the wrong time...
The Golden Retriever was injured his leg, so there was a bit of blood covering his fur off his paw. He looked at me with those eyes of his, probably trying to know what was going on with me.
There I was slowly getting consumed by my temptations with my eyes fixed the dog's blood
"Control yourself, Riley..." I thought to myself, as I attempted to push away the impulses. My mouth starts to water from the appetizing smell of blood positioned right in front of me; eyes began to feel like it's flaring up from the sight of the crimson temptation right before me eventually slowly causing me to lose control.
"I'm sorry..."
...were the last words that got out of my mouth before my vampirism took over.

@ Abandoned Cafe Shop
What have I done?
I immediately came rushing through the door of this desolated café shop and with the upmost urgency I dashed to the washroom as fast as I could. My stomach was killing me, so face the sink and I began puked...Dark blood came swirling around the sinkhole as I tried my best to eliminate it from my system. I turned the knobs for the water, and I washed my face. Now I looked up and I met my reflection on the mirror.
"Fucking hell! This is getting harder to control." I said as I brushed back my dark brown hair to the side uncovering my eyes; I stared at them as they anomalously shifted from this menacing purple color to my natural eye color, light blue. After witnessing them change then I took a deep breath and contemplated:
"If this keeps up I don't know how long till..."
...A sudden terrifying image crossed mind...An image where I lost control and turned to one of them...A Bloodthirsty Monster...
I immediately shook the horrid image out of my head and sighed.
"Stay calm, Riley. Just get a grip of yourself..."
While looking down on the sink feeling a little disoriented I tried my best to stay composed.
"...Everything will be okay...everything will...be...okay" Those words uncomfortably echoed in my head.
"Or will it?...will...it?"
"Riley!"
A call of a familiar voice took me by surprise which made me jump from my spot. While knowing who it was, I quickly turn around to face her.
"What's with that look? It's like you saw a ghost or something." She stated with a very confused and annoyed look on her face.
"Claire..." I mumbled.
Claire Cooper, my best friend for I don't know, like forever now. Even if I try, I won't be able to think of a time she wasn't in my life. However, for some goddamn reason she doesn't know...no I can't let her know... That I'm like this now.
"Yeah, it's me. What are you doing here? I came looking for you in the Saferoombut you weren't there. Is everything okay?" She responded now having a concerned look in her eyes.
I closed my eyes and turned away from her compelled to hide my guilt from her.
"Yeah, it's nothing. I was just washing my face and you startled me." I lied attempting to play it cool.
While being the cheerful girl she is, Claire chuckled.
"You know when I told you "We need to always look pretty here, in the Lavette Café". I didn't mean it literally, right?"
I giggled despite comprehending my terrible situation right now; Claire always made me laugh... Well, she is my best friend after all.
"Yeah I know that, but..."
She used to always remind me that when we worked here as Waitresses...
"But what?" She asked looking with a hint of confusion lingering in her eyes.
...and every time she did I responded with:
"You also know that I'm always pretty..."
She rolled her eyes on me feeling a little irritated from my adorable response.
"Whatever. Anyways let's just go."
"To where?" I asked having not a slight clue on what she was talking about.
"To the town hall. The Scavengers are back." She said eagerly at me.
Scavengers... they're people who travel to the nearby towns scavenge supplies, despite not knowing what kind of danger waits for them out there.
"They're back already? Aren't they a little too early?" I commented as I walked out of the cafe restroom. It's unusual because they just left a few days ago... they usually come back by the end of the month.
Claire walked beside me and answered:
"I don't know. Something must have happened..."
"Why do I have a bad feeling about this?" I thought to myself as we walked our way out of the cafe...

@ Town Hall
The hall was a crowd with town folks, or what's left of them, who seems to be flustered and aggravated about something; their chatter filling the walls of the town hall...
"Where's the supplies?"
"You've got to be kidding us. They brought back nothing..."
"What are we going to do?"
"This can't be?!"
A tall man who I believe to be the so-called leader of the Scavengers and the former town sheriff stood in front on the middle of the stairs; he wore a worn-out brown coat and held a shotgun.
"Everyone please calm down..."
His words seem to be ignored as the town folks continued with their murmuring.
"I SAID EVERYONE CALM THE FUCK DOWN!" The man yelled ending the endless murmurs of the crowd.
"Whoa, they really pissed him now," Claire commented beside me as we joined the crowd.
"Sheriff please tell us that it isn't true..." Someone in the crowd begged for an answer.
The sheriff didn't answer the question and remained quiet for a moment before taking a deep breath.
"Yes. It's true we didn't manage to get supplies because..." He looked back to look at the other scavenger members.
"Because?"
"There was nothing left. The nearby towns have all ran out of supplies to scavenge..." The sheriff immediately looked down as he delivered the bad news.
The crowd began to fill the air with clamored once again.
"That can't be..."
"We won't last long without supplies."
"We're done for..."
An old lady got out of the crowd her face was filled with anxiety.
"Sheriff... Where's my son? I can't seem to find him?"
The sheriff took his hat off and closed his eyes as sorrow painted his face.
"I'm sorry Ms. Willinsky, but Deputy Clark...didn't make it."
The old lady, Ms. Willinsky, shortly dropped down on her knees as despair took over her.
"Clark... No! Oh god why?!" She cried
This is truly terrible... Ms. Willinsky didn't deserve this. She was such a nice person also not to mention how much she loved her son...
"Ms. Willinsky..."
Memories flashed back in my mind to the time when Ms. Willinsky brought her newly baked muffins at the station...
Before I could continue reminiscing, Claire has already disappeared beside me and made her way to Ms. Willinsky. She patted her back, attempting her best to comfort the old lady.
I couldn't just stand here, so I made my way through the crowd and joined my best friend. Claire looked toward me as I kneeled down, before turning her attention to her dad, the sheriff.
"So what now dad?"
I stared at the Sheriff as he tried his best to regain his composure. Placing his hat back on his head, he was about to say something when...
"All of you need to leave town." A monotone yet steadfast masculine voice said coming from inside the upstairs office.
Leave town?!
Everyone's attention seems to have shifted to the second floor. Chatter filled the room again.
"Leave that's suicide!"
"Who said that?!"
"There's no way we'll survive out there."
"Didn't I say not to butt in before I say so?" The sheriff reminded, looking a little annoyed.
A huge well-built African American man walked out of the office door, revealing himself. He wore a what seems to be a fitted black tank top with camo pants.
"Now we didn't remember saying yes to that?" His voice was a lot deeper so the voice from earlier wasn't his.
"Plus we didn't have that kind of arrangement in the first place, Mr. Sheriff." Another person exited the office and stood beside the guy. This time it's a woman who seems to be on her late 20s. She had a little too much eye shadow on. She wore a black beret, a black combat coat, and dark camo pants.
The African-American man chuckled
"I'm sorry Sheriff. We only take orders from one guy." He said as he pointed his thumb back to the office.
"And that's from our leader."
"Leader?" I pondered to myself as I gazed at the mysterious group. The two figures stood up there making me feel somewhat inferior by their presence. Now if that's the vibe I get from these two...I don't know how I'll feel about this leader of theirs.
And just as I was thinking about it, another figure emerged from the office shadows; it was a guy... he has this straight look on his face as he eyed his two companions. The two quickly looked away then froze from where they were standing.
"Now I don't remember giving any orders on speaking back to the sheriff..." The steadfast masculine voice, just like from earlier, escaped his mouth as he spoke.
The two didn't respond.
Ignoring the lack response from his members, he took a step forward revealing more of his features. He wore a dark twill long coat and dark combat pants. Putting aside the intimidating aura he's emitting the guy looked young, perhaps around my age.
"I must apologize for speaking out of the line earlier..." He said with what I believe to be a small grin.
The sheriff's face expressed a bit of shock by the sudden display of respect of the young leader.
"It's fine. Now can you--" His response was cut off when the leader spoke again.
"...but I'm sure you understand my reason for speaking up, right Sheriff?" His small smile was immediately replaced by a straight face. With an unsettling serious look on his face, he stared down at the sheriff.
Confused murmurs of the people filled the hall once again.
"What's he talking about?"
"Reason?"
The sheriff seems to have been taken aback by this situation, so he just stood there, averting his eyes from the crowd down.
At the moment, another person the appeared from the office shadows; it was blonde girl with a bitchy look on her face. She wore half-zipped leather jacket revealing her bra underneath, ripped dark jeans and military style combat boots.
"Oh my god. I can't believe this stupid meeting isn't done yet." She groaned while making her way to their leader. The blonde then clung onto his arms and looked down at the crowd.
"Well ain't this a surprise there are more survivors in this town than I thought..." She commented before murmuring:
"...this is going to be a feeder's buffet."
No one in the crowd heard her say that distasteful joke, other than me for some reason.
"this bitch..." I whispered to myself.
"I told you to stay in the office." The so-called leader reminded the blonde woman clinging to him.
The woman seductively stared at the guy's face as she started to twiddle her fingers on his chest.
"Sweetie, I was getting bored in there without you."
"Let me go. Now's not the time for this..." He demanded as he gently get rid of the blonde's hold on his arm.
That's it!
"Come on--" The blonde girl's response was abruptly cut off when I rose up from my position and spoke up:
"Would you two stop flirting with each other and tell us what to fucking is going on?"
I can feel the center of attention in the room shifting towards me all at once. The crowd started looking at me with a shocked expression on their faces. My best friend, Clarie, stunned by my sudden actions.
"Riley..." She muttered
After hearing my sudden uproar, they immediately concentrated they're attention to me while I pierce them with my glare. The blonde woman stared at me with an irritated expression while the so-called leader just looked at me with somewhat a blank yet chilling look.
"Hey who do you think you're talking to bi--" The blonde woman rant was short-lived when their group leader interjected:
"She's right. Now would you please stop fooling around now and go back to the office."
"But--" Once again she was cut off...
"I'm not going to repeat myself." The leader warned her with his monotone voice; despite that tone of his voice, I have a feeling that it won't be pretty if you didn't follow his demand.
The blonde woman let out an angry hissed; she gave me a quick look and headed back to the office.
'Now..." The leader then looked down on the crowd again, mainly focusing his cold emotionless eyes on me as he continued:
"...let's get to the point. You're all going to die soon..."
