Hey guys! Sorry for the very late upload of this next chapter, but I simply couldn't fint any motivation to keep writing... Now though, I hope I can keep up the motivation I got going right now. Enjoy this next chapter

Steve didn't come back before it was morning. He walked into the apartment, with a plastic bag in one hand Natasha was sitting in the couch watching him as he walked into the kitchen. He started making breakfast for them. He still hasn't seen her sitting in the couch watching him. Natasha liked to startle people, but after the night's episode, she didn't feel like waiting till he would notice her.

"Where have you been?" Natasha asked him irritated.

"Good morning to you too, Natasha," Steve responded, like nothing ever happened.

"Steve, are you okay?" She asked concerned.

"Yeah I'm fine. Just had to think about something else," He answered, as he gave her a genuine smile.

Natasha could see that the smile was genuine, but she knew that he wasn't completely okay, but she decided not to talk anymore about it for now. They couldn't keep thinking about that, since they actually are on a mission and not a vacation.

"Are you ready to leave for the first target after breakfast?" Steve asked in his commanding voice, taking her by surprise, since he didn't know where any of the targets were located.

Natasha furrowed her eyebrow. "Yeah I am. Why? Are you in a hurry, Steve?" She teased him because of his commanding voice, which he only used when he was on a mission or were really serious.

"Good. Breakfast?" Steve asked with a smile on his face.

"Yeah, that would be nice," Natasha answered with a smile just as big as his.

They where now sitting in the car, headed for the first location of some of the Chitauri's. Steve was the driver while Natasha reading the mission file for the first place out loud.

"It's a two story building, the owners ran off when the Chitauri's came. They want us to clean them up without making a mess, if we can avoid it. When we have killed them, we have to drag them to the forest north from building and contact SHIELD there, then they will take care of them, and we have to be gone when they arrive." Natasha told him, now sounding like a soldier, not a spy. Even though, she definitely was not a soldier.

"Alright. Sounds easy enough." Steve said comfortable with mission.

They parked one and a half mile away, on top of a little hill in the forest. They got out of the car and Steve looked down at the building, while Natasha checked her weapons, even though she had done that twice already. One just before they left the apartment and one while they were driving. Steve couldn't see any movement around the building, he told that to Natasha, and she wasn't pleased with it, because that meant a Chitauri was missing from their list.

"Let's go check it out." She said and so they did.

They were walking side by side, Steve had his shield on his left forearm and Natasha had her Glock's in their holsters. They were halfway to the building now and neither of them could still see any movement.

Inside the building, the remaining chitauri's had seen Steve and Natasha walking towards their building. Even with their lack of intelligence, they decided to wait and attack until Captain America and Black Widow were split up inside the building.

Steve and Natasha had just opened the door to the building. As they entered, they saw that it was a building in three levels.

"I'm gonna go check the basement. You go take the top floor, then we meet here again in five minutes." Steve said with his commanding voice.

Steve was back at their meeting point after he had checked the basement in 4 minutes. Suddenly he heard shots being fired. He quickly ran to Natasha's floor and he could see her shooting at the chitauris. Before he reached her, he saw a chitauri come up from behind her, ten meters down the hall. Because of his serum he was just fast enough to run past her to cover her back, but he didn't have time to raise his shield. Steve was hit in his right shoulder. He kept running now that he was in motion. He reached the chitauri and banged his shield at its head, and it died immediately.

"Duck!" He yelled as he threw his shield towards the chitauris that Natasha was shooting at. She did duck, just in time to his shield fly above her head his shield hit the first chitauri and then ricocheted on to the two others. Natasha used the shield as a distraction, she raised again and started firing her dual Glocks at them. After the shield hit the third chitauri it found its way back to Steve and he caught it. He sat down immediately, feeling the hurt to become more immense. While he sat there, he watched Natasha killing the rest.

"Good job" Natasha heard from her. She could hear that Steve was in pain as he said it, so she quickly turned around and went to his side.

"Come on Steve, let's get back to the apartment.

They got back to the apartment, and Steve's shoulder still hurt a lot, but he wouldn't admit it. Natasha was able to see that his shoulder hurt, he was showing it, even though he tried not to.

"Take off your shirt." Natasha commanded. Steve was slightly taken aback by it.

"Excuse me?"

"Take it off so I can see the wound." She now explained, since he wouldn't comply without a reason. He did comply, but he couldn't do it all himself since it hurt so much. Natasha saw how he was struggling and went to help him. He got his good arm out of the sleeve on his own, so Natasha helped with the other one. They got his shirt off and threw to the side. Natasha's eyes couldn't help but wander one Steve's upper body, it was only quick, because she saw the wound. It was on the size of a golf ball and it was just as deep.

"Ehm Steve… This doesn't look so good…" Natasha told him, looking at the wound, still wondering how he got it.

"Don't worry. It can't look as bad as it hurts." He said with a weak smile. Natasha just glared at him, because of his words.

"Have you any idea of what we should about it? I mean you know your super-soldier-body better than I do."

"Let's just put some gauze on it and see how my body handles alien weapons in tomorrow morning." He said, standing up on his way to get to the bandage. He was so goddam stubborn Natasha thought to herself.

"Sit down soldier and let me help you." She commanded. Steve reluctantly complied. He would rather just do it by himself, but he didn't want to fight Natasha. Natasha got the bandage and started putting it around his upper body, so they were sure that it was covered good enough.

When she was done, he went to the bedroom to get out of his uniform. He put on some sweats, and no shirt since his most of his upper body was already covered up, and he would be getting too warm wearing a shirt. He walked out of the bedroom to see Natasha laying on the couch already changed. When did she do that? Natasha saw the confusion on his face.

"I had some in the bathroom, so I changed in there." She said with a smile. He nodded in approval and went to sit beside her.

"How did you even get hit in the first place, Steve?" She had been wondering about that ever since she saw hurt, but she didn't have any clue when or how he got hit.

"Well, just as I got to your floor, I saw one of them behind you and you didn't seem like you had noticed, so I ran in front of the shot, got hit, kept going and killed it. Then you saw my shield fly past you and yeah… You noticed the rest." Steve explained. Natasha was a bit baffled that he literally took a 'bullet', laser, whatever you want to call it, for her. The only other person that had done that for her, was Clint. And that was a while into their friendship, but she barely knew Steve.

"Why - why… Why would you do that?" Natasha stammered. Now Steve was surprised. He had never heard her stammer before.

"Well, you are my partner and I got your back. Literally in this case." He smiled.

"But-" Natasha was cut off.

"Would you have done the same thing for me?"

"Yeah, but-" She was cut off again.

"Then you know why I did it."

Natasha slowly let it sink in that he actually just saved her.

"Thank you, Steve." She finally said, with a genuine smile on her face.

"No problem. I would even do it again, if needed." Steve returned the smile. "What about dinner? I'm really hungry." Natasha chuckled at that.

"Yeah well, we can order a pizza, or five, if you eat as much as you did yesterday." She said with a big smile on her face.

Steve actually laughed at that. "I can't help it. The serum made my metabolism four or five times faster than any normal human."

"Really? I didn't even know that."

"It's in my file. Didn't you read it?"

"No. I wanted to get to know in person, not through a piece of paper." She answered still smiling.

"Hmm, good thing I didn't read your file then." Steve said smiling just as much as her.

Natasha had ordered the pizzas and while they waited for them to be delivered, they had found a movie to watch.

When the pizzas had arrived they got settled on the couch, Steve on the right side of Natasha. They ate in silence, the only sound there were in the apartment was the movie. They finished eating at the same time, even though Steve had four pizzas and Natasha had only one.

They finished the movie, but then decided that they wanted to watch another one. They didn't talk much. They simply just sat in the couch and watched the movie.

Now it was getting late and Natasha could feel that her body didn't want to be awake anymore, so she fell asleep. And just because her body wanted to be comfortable, she pulled her legs up to her, on her left side, and laid her head against Steve's arm.

Steve hadn't noticed anything before he felt her head against his arm. Steve slowly moved his arm, so it went behind her so her head would resting on his side and he would have his arm around her.

Steve really liked the movie, so he decided to watch it to the end. An hour later when the movie was done, he turned off the TV and placed the remote on the armrest. He looked down at Natasha and saw that she was still sleeping. He slowly moved himself and gently laid her head down on the couch. He picked her up and carried her bridal style. Her head was resting on his good shoulder, but carrying her didn't hurt the shoulder where he got shot, she was so light that it didn't even matter.

Natasha started to stir when she could feel someone was carrying her. "Steve? Why are you carrying me?" She asked in a very sleepy voice. If it wasn't for his enhanced hearing he wouldn't have been able to tell what she actually was saying. "I'm just putting you into bed. Get back to sleep if you can." He replied in a soft voice.

Natasha did go back to sleep in Steve's arms. Steve carried her into their bed and placed her on her side of it. He pulled the covers over her. Steve smiled at the sight of her snuggling with the covers. He went to the other side of the bed and laid down, not wanting to use the covers. As he tried to get to sleep, he suddenly felt shifting in the bed, and less than a second later he felt Natasha's head on his chest. He stiffened in the beginning, but after a couple of seconds he was pretty comfortable with it. He went to sleep with her like that.

When Natasha woke up she was alone in the bed. Again. They didn't have any kind of disagreements yesterday, so she figured he was just an early riser. She did a little morning stretch, and she could feel that something was a bit off. She was on Steve's side of the bed. Wait what? Why was she on Steve's side of the bed? She would ask Steve soon about it. She got up from bed, still dressed in sweats and a top, she wanted to go make some coffee. She really that in the morning. Natasha wasn't really a morning person, until she got her coffee, then it didn't really matter what time it was.

As she walked out of the bedroom she was met with the smell coffee.

"Good morning Natasha!" Steve said.

"Morning." Was all she returned in her sleepy voice. She could see that Steve cooking breakfast and had made coffee.

Steve handed her a cup of coffee. "Thank you."

"Did you sleep well?" He asked with a grin on his face.

"Yeah actually I did. I think it's been a long time since I slept this good. Though, I don't remember going to bed."

"Well you didn't. You fell asleep on the couch. I carried you to bed."

"Ahh… " There was a moment of silence. "But how did I end up on your side of the bed?"

Steve chuckled. "Well it didn't take many seconds, after I laid down, for you to snuggle in to me."

Steve had never seen such a surprised look on any one before. Natasha's mouth fell to the floor and it looked like her eyes could fall out.

"How… Why… I… I'm really sorry, Steve" She stammered. She didn't know how to explain herself, how embarrassed she felt and how she may have made Steve feel.

"Naahh, don't worry about it. I'm just glad that you didn't have a nightmare." He answered with a smile.

"How did you know that I had a nightmare last night?" She asked confused.

"After I ran out the door, I sat down on the street just outside the building, since I didn't know where to go. I could hear you when you were shifting and turning. I tried my hardest not to go wake you up." He said as he looked down at the ground, feeling bad that he didn't do anything about her having a nightmare.

Natasha just nodded, she didn't know what to say.

"Anyway, I'm glad you slept well. Aaaand, breakfast is ready."

She nodded and started pouring food on her plate. She was still embarrassed about what she had done. She knew that he meant he didn't mind, but it isn't usually something she does whenever she shares a bed with someone. She looked at him and realized that he still was wearing the bandage.

"How's the wound?"

"It feels fine. Haven't checked it yet." He said, and started taking the bandage off. He rolled it nicely together and looked at Natasha.

"How does it look?"

"Steve… It's… Steve it's gone." She told him, again surprised. She stood up immediately went in front of him to get a closer look on where the were supposed to be. Steve could feel her fingers running over his skin, like she had never seen anything like it. She probably hadn't, since he was the only one injected with the serum.

Steve chuckled. "I figured that." He said waving it off like it was nothing, like it had just been a scratch he had gotten. "Now, do I have to go get a shirt on before we eat? I'm starving and saw yesterday that you have a hard time to not look at me shirtless." He teased. Natasha blushed at his teasing and brought her hand away from his shoulder. She went back to her plate to eat her food and let Steve eat his food. He smirked at how cute she was when she felt embarrassed. Natasha would never admit it out loud, but she found it kind of hot when he teased her. This was the first time he had done it and now know that she is secretly going to love it.

They ate in silence, though Steve could feel Natasha's eyes on him a lot and he simply couldn't stop smiling at that. Steve found Natasha incredibly beautiful, he had since day one where he met her on the helicarrier, but he wasn't going to tell her that. At least not yet.

Steve didn't know that while his thoughts were running wild, he has been staring at Natasha the whole time, and she had seen it, but instead of telling Steve she took the chance to stare at him. She had seen a lot different body types on men, but she had never seen a man with such an incredible body. Her eyes traveled around on his upper body, then she came to look at his face, then his eyes. She was caught in his eyes. She couldn't look away. She now found out that her favorite part of his body, was his eyes. Wait what? She had never had a favorite body part on anyone except herself. What is she thinking? But all of her thoughts didn't matter, she still couldn't look away.

Their gaze had been locked for quite some time now, but a loud roar from the thunder outside had them both shift their gaze. And Steve decided to break the silence.

"Hmm… Are we going to find more chitauris today?"

"We could, but I thought that we were going to have at least have a day to recover. I'm really sore from yesterday. "

"That's fine by me. Then what are we going to do the rest of the day?"

"I thought that maybe we could take a walk around to see the city and then maybe watch later tonight?" She asked somewhat nervous.

"Yeah that sounds great. I'll just clean up here then I'm ready." He answered with a smile.

"Maybe you should put on a shirt." She stated with a wink.

"Yeah maybe a good idea." He smiled.

Steve cleaned up the kitchen while Natasha got herself ready. He was really happy that she had been the one to suggest that they could take a walk. He didn't know much about her, but what he did know about her he really liked, and he just hoped that she would let him get to know her better.

It didn't take long for any of them to be done. Just as Steve finished the kitchen, Natasha came out from the bedroom. She had a shirt in her hand, his shirt he figured as she threw it to him. He caught it easily and put it on. Since it was summer he didn't out on a jacket, because it wasn't cold. Before he hadn't really noticed what Natasha was wearing, hug now that he did, he was stunned. She was wearing a black top with blue denim shorts, that stopped just below her butt, and then a pair of black and white Converse. It was so simple, yet so stunning. Steve hadn't seen anything like that before. And apparently he had been staring.

"If you are just going to stand there, we are going to miss the sun." She teased, with a grin on her face. She could see the blush creep up on his face.

"Yeah sorry… I'm… Yeah…" Steve stammered. Natasha couldn't herself now, she could see how fun it was to make Steve uncomfortable. She was holding the door for him, he saw that and started walking out the door. Just as he passed her, she gently slapped his ass. Steve jumped in surprise at this, but he kept walking out of the door and Natasha was grinning like a mad man at his reaction. She knew for sure that he was blushing and that was probably why he didn't turn around.

They down to the sidewalk of the street and had stopped.

"Which way?" He asked.

"This way!" She replied, and then slapped his ass again. Steve at her. She was a top class spy, but right now she behaved like a child. But he didn't want her to get away with it this time. He walked up to her, picked her up and placed her over his shoulder, in one swift motion. Natasha let out a little yelp and began laughing, she definitely wasn't ready for that.

"Steve put me down. " She told him in between laughs. Steve grinned the whole time.

"No. Not before you know how to behave." Natasha kept laughing.

They had been walking a couple blocks down towards the park. Well, Steve had. People had been looking at them weirdly, but they didn't notice, not did they care, they were in their own little bubble.

"Okay Steve, I think I will be able to behave if you put me down." Natasha said with a big smile. Steve couldn't see it, but Natasha had been smiling the whole time had been walking.

"Okay I'm going to put you down, but I warn you, if you slap my ass again, you will get right back on my shoulder." He told her, trying his hardest to not break out in laughter. He put her back down on the ground and saw her smiling just as much as he did. They started walking side by side and then Natasha got an idea.

She was actually pretty nervous about it, since she didn't know how Steve would react. For the first time in her life she was nervous whether what she was about to do was okay with the guy. There was only one way to find out. She grabbed Steve's and waited for his reaction.

He didn't pull away. He looked down at her and he could see that she was waiting for some kind of reaction. He smiled at her and gave her hand a little squeeze, then turned his head away again. That was all Natasha needed. She relaxed and turned her head to see where they were going.
