Chapter One - The First Meeting
" You sure this is a good idea?"
Drew asks for the third time in a minute and Dawn patience is running thin "yes I'm sure! Now shut up already "
Unfazed by the girl outburst, Drew pointed out coolly " you do remember that you are already on thin ice with Cynthia, right? If she finds out you are doing this behind her back after she specifically told you not to ... "
" Technically she says I'm not allowed to go on a mission which the last time I check, this isn't"
Drew scoff at Dawn pathetic reasoning
" You are going to get kicked out one day you know... besides, why do you need to stalk Ash Ketchum anyway? I can just monitor him like Cynthia ask me to "
" Not everything can be done through the computer you geek, besides you heard the saying keep your friend close and your enemy closer? "
Tired of trying to figure out Dawn's mess up of a brain, the hacker decided to give in. Besides, this could be a good thing, Ash Ketchum had several runs in with few of their agent already and if Dawn could find out just how much the detective know about them, it would be a great advantage to them
" Just try not to get into trouble and switch to the spec cam ok? I will be your back up but just a warning you are not my main priority, I do have an official mission to take care of unlike the pathetic stalking of your crush "
Ignoring the hacker comment on her stalking, Dawn remove her wireless earbud and put on the spec cam as advice
" Testing 1,2,3"
" Receive loud and clear, now the spectacle is the latest model and will record every you see, it also acts as a communicator, take photos, send receive and search basically everything"
" May been busy huh?" She mumbles, referring to the agency main weapon and car developer and one of her best friend " That quite an upgrade, no wonder I don't see her around that much "
" Tell me about it, I didn't get to see my girlfriend for a week "
The way the hacker says that statement sound strangely like a whine and Dawn almost laughs
" So anyway, this spectacle is a standard issue to all agents starting tomorrow, it will let me keep an eye on you and assist you if you need it. Now take care ok. Contact me if anything comes out " Drew pipe up again before the line went silent
" Thanks, " she says even though she knows Drew can't hear her, but she was raised to be polite. Pretending to be using her phone, she peeked over to where Ash house was, wondering if the detective is coming out yet
As if her thought conjure him, the raven hair detective steps out of the house dress in a blue jacket, jean, and a red cap
" Cap? Really? It not even sunny and the jacket and jean are so common "she can't help but criticize. Her strong interest in fashion make her judgmental toward other's choice of clothing
Still, this isn't the time for fashion. Waiting for the Ash to widen the gap between them, she follows when she when felt it was safe enough to do so.
Taking a sip of her tea, Dawn threw a not so subtle glance at the raven hair guy sitting across of her
She been following him around for a few hours and so far, he been grocery shopping at a market, went to a bookstore and now a light tea at a cafe
All she learns about him today is just that
1) He likes to read manga (he was reading Haikyuu)
2) He lives alone and can't cook (he mostly bought ready to make food and chip when he went to the supermarket)
3) He like chocolate and coffee (he ordered a Chocolate Espresso Layer Cake and latte at the cafe )
" Geez it is his day off and he chooses such activities " she complains under her breath " don't he have a girlfriend or something?"
She becomes alert however when ash stood up. Trying to appear casual she took a bite of her cake before discretely following the detective
" You can come out now " Ash spoke up, slowing his step, coming to a stop at an empty alleyway
When there was no reply, the detective turned around and repeated in a more threatening tone " come out now! Don't make me repeat it! "
A blue hair girl sheepishly pokes her head out from the corner
" Step out from there "
The girl seems hesitant on following his instruction but step into view nonetheless
" So, what were you doing following me since morning huh? "
" No entiendo lo siento" ( I don't understand sorry )
The girl replies and Ash frown. Does she think he an idiot or something
"Preferirías si hablo en español ?" (would you prefer if I speak in Spanish ) he counters and was satisfied when the girl scowl
" How do you know Spanish?"
" So, what were you doing following me since morning?" He mirrors his previous statement, wanting to bring the conversation back to the main topic. Still, he can't resist adding in a snarky comment "By the way, if you wanna pretend to be a foreigner, just an advice, you don't look like one and you shouldn't have come out when I ask you to, it kind of gives away the fact that you understand English "
" point taken, I will take note of that next time " the bluennte reply dryly and ash feel his irritation rising. This girl is really starting to get on his nerve
" So, what were you doing following me " he echoes for the third time
" would you believe me if I say we are just going in the same direction?"
" We are in an alleyway, how do you expect that excuse to work? "
" Hmm"
He observes carefully as the girl mulls over her response. Facial expression can give a lot of details and Ash pride himself on knowing how to read facial expressions well, a skill that handy in his field of work. yet as he observes the girl, he can't seem to have a good read of her
Which is why he doesn't know what to think when the girl blurts out " sorry I just thought you were handsome and want to know you more "
