Stefan
Staring into the strange blonde's blue eyes, I compel her to inform me of who she is. "I'm Caroline Forbes." I tense hearing her last name roll off her tongue sweetly, she blinks. Shaking my head, I continue, "Where are you from Caroline?" My eyes never leaving hers I can still her heart pounding inside her chest, it's taking everything in me not to sink my fangs into her porcelain neck that's pulsing, the blood calling me to take it. "Mystic Falls, Virginia." My eyes snap to Bonnie's, I know that anyone can share the same damn hometown, I just haven't come across anyone who's from Mystic Falls that actually left the sleepy little town I once wreaked havoc on, the place I once loved. I almost scoff at the thought. Looking back at the blonde hair, blue eye beauty who's breathing is now calm I swallow the lump in my throat. She's gorgeous, but there's something about her… something different. Her near naked state and how she's openly speaking about, whatever the hell jeans are I really wish she would've put them and that bra on before flouncing those long smooth legs in here. Whatever she meant by her phone I can't describe, maybe she means the one at her home? But it's also her attitude and speech that makes everything about her questionable as well. She said 'bitching' and 'hella'. Confusing. Licking my lips, I ask, "Is what you're saying true?"
Her head nods, "It's true." Removing my hands from the soft skin of her shoulders I look at Bonnie with raised brows. She furrows her sighing, "What?" I throw an arm out gesturing at the beautiful stranger. "Umm, something is off here. I… I can feel it." Caroline whispers behind me, but of course unbeknownst to her I'm a damn vampire who can hear perfectly. Out of the corner of my eye I catch her pacing and then her dainty hand is dipping into her shirt holding a necklace. "Everything was fine yesterday, we came here to box up everything, I was supposed to get my head cleared and then Grams… shit, Grams gives me a necklace that supposed to show you what your heart desires and now… something isn't right." The girl's rambling, pacing, her blood pumping again and I have to grit my teeth together before tearing into her soft neck. She's obviously smarter than most women her age, piecing everything together even if she's lost, most would look to the man in the room for answers. "What necklace?" Bonnie asks calmly causing both Caroline and I to give her our full attention. "Oh, you… you mean this necklace?" I turn towards her as she pulls out the long silver change that's nestled between her ample breasts, in her hand is a silver heart shaped locket with red twine or vines wrapped around it. "Yeah, Shelia… my guardian, she gave it to me to wear. Saying it's supposed to show me what my heart desires." Bonnie walks up to Caroline and I keep a curious eye on the two of them. "May I?" Bonnie asks holding out her hand, Caroline simply drops the locket into her palm, closing her eyes Bonnie clutches the locket. Caroline looks between me and Bonnie with a confused expression that makes the word adorable come to mind, "What's she doing?"
Saying nothing I continue to focus on the witch and not the increasing heartbeat of the strange girl. Bonnie's eyes snap open, she drops the locket as if it's burned her, looking over at me her eyebrows raise. "We have a problem." I almost laugh, of course we do. Like we really need this going on, we now have a girl that's bringing her problems into our lives. I'd rather end her life and call it a day. "What's wrong?" Caroline's heartbeat spikes as the question drips off my tongue. Gritting my teeth as I salivate thinking about her blood, how sweet and delicious it'll taste on my tongue as if it is some delicacy in the most prestigious restaurant in town. "Problem? What kind of problem? What did you do with the necklace, hey I'm talking to you!" Caroline snaps and it takes everything within me not to throttle her. "Caroline, I need you to calm down, here come sit down and I will better explain this to you." Bonnie in her same calm manner takes Caroline's hand pulling her over to the chair I was just occupying. I make my way to the bar grabbing an unopened bottle of Bourbon not bothering to fetch a glass, breaking the seal then taking a drink of the strong contents relishing in the burn it sends down my throat settling in my stomach.
"What's going on, I need answers… now." Caroline barks out with her slender yet strong arms crossing over her chest, scoffing I snatch the bottle off the bar top making my way over to the girls I slam it down onto the table. Placing one hand on the back of Caroline's chair and one on the table I lean into her space, my face mere inches from hers. "You don't get to make demands; you listen to what she has to say bearcat." Caroline blows out a breath and I step back grabbing the bottle, nudging Bonnie with the toe of my shoe I arch a brow. "You were saying?" Shaking her head Bonnie points to the necklace, "I get visons when I touch things, certain objects and when I focus hard enough on them, I can get all of the information I need. Your necklace is spelled. Magic, my family… the Bennett's we are from a long line of witches. Derived from Salem in the seventeen-hundreds." I stand with a tight grip on the neck of my bourbon bottle, Bonnie just gave this girl her secret. Vampires and witches do not announce to the world let alone strangers what we are and yet I guess she deems it necessary to have done so. I on the other hand have only ever told a select few people about who and what I am, Caroline Forbes will not be one of them. It is too risky, and she is already a liability being here since Bonnie said, 'we have a problem'. "The woman who gave you that knew what she was doing and while it was in good nature, I am sure, it also brought you from your time era to ours. You said this bar and the apartment above is a hundred years old, Caroline you're no longer in Chicago two-thousand and twenty. You're in Chicago, nineteen-twenty."
My blood runs cold as the words leave her mouth, I knew there was something strange and different about the bearcat however I wasn't expecting her to be from another time. "Bonnie how is that even possible?" I ask irritated beyond belief, I need to drink, to sink my fangs into someone until I can no longer hear or feel their heart beating or pulse thumping. I want to tear into their flesh and rip them apart. "Trust me Stefan it is possible, she is here and it's because of the necklace she's wearing. It brought her here." I scoff turning around walking away from them, stopping I turn back striding over to the girl pointing at the necklace. "You mean to tell me that this piece of jewelry brought the dame here because whatever it is that her heart wants is in nineteen-twenty Chicago and not her time? You expect me to believe that horse-shit?" Caroline grabs the necklace looking down at the heart, her thumb runs across the vines then her heart skips a beat. "Stefan, I know that it sounds absurd, but you and I both know that the impossible is in fact not so impossible." Bonnie informs me sternly, my head snaps towards her then she gives me a pointed look daring me to object when I know she's speaking about vampires especially being a myth and legend. The impossible. My teeth grind together, and I push away from the table, walking towards the bar's exit I call over my shoulder. "Fix this!"
Caroline
Once the door slams behind the obviously pissed guy, I release a shaky breath looking at Bonnie who simply smiles at me. "Don't worry about Stefan, he's… moody." A humorless laugh escapes me as I nod, "Yeah that's one way to put it." Running my hands through my hair I run over everything that has just happened, I'm stuck in nineteen-twenty. Nineteen freaking twenty! I'm with Stefan on this, how is this even possible. Come on, time travel, really? and this woman is a witch? "I know you're confused, and I would even go as far as saying scared, but it's true Caroline. I'm a witch and my family's necklace is spelled with magic to give you what your heart desires… apparently what you desire is here in my time." Rubbing my fingers over my eyebrow I sigh, "I just… I've never believed in the whole witchy woo stuff, no offense. Why wouldn't Grams tell me? I mean yeah, I love the roaring twenties, don't get me wrong, but what's here that I could possibly want? How the hell do I get back home to my time?" Bonnie laughs leaving the table, I watch her walk towards the bar and it's now clicking. Their speech, their clothing… it's all true. Grabbing two glasses and a bottle Bonnie grins making her way back to me, "Here, this should take the edge off some." With the glasses poured I take mine throwing it back and slide the glass back to her as I squinch my face. "Stefan and I will help you find out whatever it is that has brought you here Caroline, then we will get you home." Taking my new glass, I sip it this time, snorting. "Yeah, I think Mr. Hottie with a shit attitude would rather throw me out on my ass." She giggles into her own glass as I finish mine off, looking at me now Bonnie shrugs. "Like I said he's in a mood, business stuff and trust me Stefan will help. He's very… resourceful."
I crack a smile at that then cross my arms over my chest, "You mean he's a Mobster?" She chokes on her drink and I try not to laugh, nothing about my situation is funny. "Listen Bonnie, I belong in a year that's a hundred years away from yours. I know all about the Chicago outfit, I know the lingos… I was obsessed with the Italian gangsters from the twenties and every decade from there. I mentioned Al Capone earlier remember? He's one of the most notorious ones in history and how he got busted is the funniest thing ever, wasn't even over snuffing someone out. Point is I know and Stefan, he fits the bill and you said he's resourceful… I just put two and two together." Bonnie leans forward covering my hand with hers a serious look on her face now. "Caroline you can't talk like that here, you may have all this knowledge, but there's more to it. You're from another time, a woman isn't supposed to know any of the crime boss' business, it's dangerous. You being here is dangerous and until we get you back home, you need to…" I sigh leaning forward myself. "To be lowkey, not compromise my identity. I get it, this is out of the realm of normalcy Bonnie. This is something out of fantasy and supernatural stories, so whatever I need to do to help you, help me… I will."
Bonnie relaxes some and begins pouring us both another drink, isn't it at least ten in the morning? "Thank you, Caroline, I think your obsession with our time may have been what lead you here, however what could your heart desire here is the question?" Taking the drink, I circle the rim of the glass with my finger, "I couldn't tell you really, I mean my life back home isn't terrible, but it's not exactly the bee's knees either. I have amazing friends, Grams who loves me like I'm her family and I literally just got engaged to my high school sweetheart only because I thought it was the right thing to do. I'll be graduating soon and going off to college and yet, I feel so empty. I don't know what's here for me." Shaking her head with a smile she swirls the dark contents in her glass, "Whatever it is, it must be good. Things are going to be interesting now that you're here, but for the time being I'll help you keep as much as a low profile as I can. You have knowledge of the roaring twenties as you put it, that can help." My ears perk up hearing this and I am if anything good at it's providing a distraction on demand and I'm going to be a Drama Major after all. "So, we come up with a story, yes, it's technically a lie, but we can say I'm new in town and I'll do my best to be convincing. I know a lot like you said and since this is the real twenties, I'll know my place as a woman and keep my mouth shut as much as I can. Though this is the decade that women let lose, point is I'll be out of towner Caroline Forbes." I hope that deciding to roll with what my life has just become doesn't end up with me being found out about or worse... killed.
