"...which resulted in the evolution of…" the teacher was saying but was interrupted as the bell rang. The students quickly climbed to their feet or rose from their chair. "Remember your essay's about the Legendary Pokemon. Those are still due tomorrow on my desk by the end of the day. No exceptions. Yes, that includes you, Jim."
Everyone laughed as a Garchomp huffed in embarrassment. Blue slid out of his seat, pulling his bag onto his back. It had been a long day of lectures so far, and it was only lunch. Most of his classmates weren't really questioning why he was an umbreon anymore. Since his father died, everyone thought that he would become an espeon like his mother or a vaporeon in respect of his father, so Umbreon was a bit of a surprise.
He dragged himself out of the classroom, wondering where he would be eating tonight when he heard arguing down the hallway. Curious, he followed the sound until he reached the stairwell. Jim was towering over one of their classmates. Blue couldn't remember the porygon-z's name for the life of him. The poor kid looked terrified.
"But, Jim. It'll be impossible for me to write a ten page essay in the span of," he started to say but was cut off.
"I. Don't. Care. You will get me that essay by tomorrow or so help me, you will regret it." Jim snapped, growling at him.
Blue felt his fur rise. He walked over. "Hey, Jim. Pick on someone your own size." he said, putting himself between Jim and the Porygon-z. "I think you'll find one at the gym. Go there."
Jim glared at Blue. "Well well well. If it isn't poor little Blue. I see you evolving hasn't changed how tiny you are. Buzz off. I was having a conversation with my friend here." he told the umbreon.
"If this is how you treat your friends, I think I know why you don't have any." Blue stated, motioning with his tail for the Porygon-z to run.
The smaller pokemon didn't need to be told twice. He took off down the stairs as Jim glared down at him, growing more and more enraged. "You got some fire for a dark pokemon." he growled.
"At least I'm not so dense I have to get someone else to do my homework for me, like some idiot who's in front of me."
If Blue ever had any regrets, this situation was not one of them. Jim roared at him, clearly using Dragon Rage. Blue darted to the side, dodging the attack. Becoming an umbreon had boosted his speed. Blue wasn't going to let Jim bully anyone else. Darting behind him, Blue shot a Shadow Ball at Jim, hitting him square in the back of the head. Jim stumbled forward. A crowd was begging to surround him. Several students were cheering them on.
Jim spun around and lunged at Blue with what Blue had to guess was Take Down. Blue knew that the Garchomp was slow due to his size; but if any attack hit, it would hurt. He dashed towards Jim before jumping in the air and using Hyper Beam. Jim was knocked back into the students. Some helped him to his feet. The attack had been critical. Jim was about to attack again when there was a shout for everyone to get out of the way.
The two pokemon didn't have any time to react when they were hit by a Thunder Wave attack. As Jim and Blue fell to the ground, one of the teachers ran over. All the other students fled to their classrooms or just out of the way. Blue looked over to see that it was the Pikachu teacher from next door. He could barely follow what she was saying before the Alakazam nurse came upstairs.
Great. He was going to be stuck paralyzed for a while.
By the time Jim and Blue recovered, it was already the end of the school day. Both of their parents were called. The principal had already spoken with Jim's parents. He left with a three day suspension. Lucky for him, he would have time to take care of that essay he was bullying the Porygon-z about now. Once the nurse let him go, his mother took him straight to the office. Apparently, the principal wanted to speak with both of them. Blue sat at the desk. He wasn't nervous about this situation. It had to have been obvious that the fight wasn't his fault. Surely they talked to the students and got the polygon-z's story.
The principal sighed as she looked between the two as Blue's sister, Ellie, sat outside, entertained by the vice principal. "Ms. Eve, your son attacked another student unprovoked." she told his mother.
"What?! Jim was the one who attacked me. He was bullying another student. I just stepped in and kept his attention off of the kid." Blue argued, staring at the Froslass. "Jim's a jerk. I bet he said that I attacked first."
"Mrs. Clare, that is against my son's character. He wouldn't just fight another student without reason." Eve told the principal.
"I'm afraid I wish I could say otherwise. I have several eye witnesses stating that Blue attacked him first." Principal Clare told them.
Blue's mouth dropped. "But what about the cameras?!"
"We've already reviewed the hallway cameras. They all show the two of you fighting. It is very clear that your son attacked the student, ma'am."
Blue opened his mouth to start shouting; but Eve gently rubbed his back, pulling him close. She patiently waited until his fur was laying flat again before turning to the principal. "What is my son's punishment as you seem to have made up your mind about this?" Eve asked, clearly cross at the situation.
"I'm afraid I have no choice but to expel him. He is no longer welcome at this school." Principal Clare told them.
"I understand. We will take our leave." Eve replied before Blue could respond. Without another word to the Froslass, Eve led her son out of the office. "Ellie, we're leaving, sweetie."
"Coming, mommy. Bye!" the eevee called over to the vice principal as she followed her mother.
The family of three walked in silence. Ellie was riding one Eve's back. She had worn herself out from all of the playing. Blue walked with his head lowered. His mother was mad. He knew it. You couldn't tell it from first glance, but it was very clear.
"Mom?"
"Yes, dear?"
"You believe me, right? I wouldn't attack someone like that." he said.
Eve paused and looked at her son. "Blue, I know that things have been hard since your father passed and you evolved; but I know for a fact you would never act so recklessly without reason. I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at your former principal. She was clearly biased." she told him, nuzzling Blue. "Besides, I was fixing to pull you out of that school today anyway."
"What? Why?" Blue asked, looking at her shocked. Did he do something wrong?
"We're moving. Remember how I've been trying to get another job to help support you and your sister? I got one in a few cities over. It'll be a good new start for you, sweetie."
Blue didn't know what to say. He smiled at his mom and leaned into her. Things were starting to look up for them.
