Meredith. There was just something about her Derek couldn't place, whether that be her laugh or her hair that smelt like some sort of flower or maybe it was her piercing emerald eyes that he couldn't stop himself from gazing into too. He didn't know, but that just fueled his desire to find out as much as could about her, Where did she grow up? What's her family like? How does she like her coffee? What music does she listen too? As well as many more important questions that he needed to find answers for.

"Your thinking about her again aren't you man?" Mark quipped as he strode into the room.

"No!" He trailed off, but there was no denying it "Okay, yes." He sighed in defeat.

"Ha! Called it!" Mark pumped his fist in the air and turned towards Derek "Okay but seriously dude, I never thought you were gonna be the guy to lose his sanity over a chick. Derek glared at him, but in a way, he was right.

"What are you guys talking about?" A female voice filled the room and Derk whipped his head around and let out a breath of relief, it was Lexie.

"Oh, just how Shep here has a huge-ass highschool crush on your sister" Mark easily replied like it was no big deal.

"Dude!" he frantically turned to Lexie "You can't tell Mer! Or anyone else" He pleaded, flustered.

"Don't worry you're secret is safe with me" She winked and Derek groaned and put his head in his hands. Lexie walked back into her room giggling to herself.

Meredith hurried to pack up her stuff, She had her Neuro lecture as her second class of the day and couldn't wait. She had been interested in neuro for as long as she could remember, and was quite sure she was going to specialize in it once she got further into her career.

She got to the room as quickly as possible, wanting to get a good seat. Once she opened the door, she realized the other 50-something students taking the course had the exact same idea because the rows were already filling fast.

"Hey, Meredith!" Called a somewhat familiar voice, she scanned the room and landed on, her roommate's sparkling blue eyes. Screw it, Derek's nice to her. What has she got to lose?

She forced her legs to move up the steps and down her belongings in the seat next to him.

"So! what beings you to Neuro?" he asked, trying to strike up a conversation.

"I've always been into it, I'm planning on specializing in it when I'm through my residency."

"Really? Me too!" She smiled at him

"I heard this class has a really great professor too"

"Oh yeah, Dr. Martin is really good! He used to work with my dad when they were both Neurosurgeons."

"Used too?" She asked curiously

"Yeah, my Dad passed away a few years ago." His smile fading a little

"Oh, I'm sorry" Silence filled their spots, neither person knowing what to say. "My Mother's s Surgeon." She blurted out awkwardly

He chuckled "Yeah, I know. Ellis Grey right?"

"You already know?!" she responds shocked

"Yep, not very many people around her have the last name, Grey."

"You don't have questions? Don't want to bother me for an autograph or something?" Meredith was confused, If already knew why hasn't he brought it up yet?

He cocked his head at her "I don't care about any of that stuff Mer. I'm excited to get to know you, not the person you're associated with, just you."

"Oh" She croaked, her throat suddenly dry and her stomach doing flip flops in response to his words. Derek sensed there was more about that subject then she was letting on, but he didn't push as just then Dr. Martin walked in and the noise of student discussions was quickly replaced by everyone getting their laptops and textbooks out.

Later in the day, Meredith grumbled as she spread out all her work from her previous classes onto the tiny desk in her dorm, Her brain hurt just thinking about how much more the pile is going to grow tomorrow.

"Mer? Are you almost ready? The guys told me they'd be about five more minutes if you need more time." The voice of her sister called out from the other side of the door.

Shit! She'd totally forgotten about going to get drinks with everyone! As soon as she'd gotten home about a half an hour ago she got changed into flannel pyjamas and an old hoodie. She flung open the door and reveal her sister already all dressed up, Her long chestnut hair in flowing curls with a nice sweater and blouse.

"Crap Lex, I'm so sorry but going out tonight completely slipped my mind. Tell Derek that I'm so I couldn't come but you guys go ahead without me okay?" She couldn't help being disappointed before she forgot, she was really looking forward too it.

"Are you sure? I can ask the guys if they wouldn't mind waiting up for you, I'm positive they wouldn't complain."

She shook her head "Nah, I'll stay here, I've already got loads of work I could be doing."

"Okay, if you're sure. I suppose I'll see you later then." Meredith nodded and shut the door, going back to her desk. At least maybe she would get ahead of her classes.

Not 2 Minutes later, Her door swung open again. She swivelled in her chair. "Derek? What are you still doing here? I thought you guys already left?" She really didn't want to explain that she forgot to the man that asked to come in the first place.

"Are you kidding? I'd much rather be hanging out with you than watch

Mark try to Impress your sister with his lame pick up lines all night."

She giggled "I guess you do have a point there."

"Anyway, I was wondering if you wanted to maybe put in a movie? I have a small Tv in my room."

Meredith smiled. A big genuine smile. "I'd really like that."

He returned with a smile just as big. "Great! You can go pick out a movie and I'll get the snacks!" She giggled at how enthusiastic he was.

She gasped in joy when he walked back into his room with her favourite candy in his arms. "How did you know?"

He winked "I might have seen a wrapper or two... or three laying about your room"

"Shut up! they keep me company when I'm having a bad day." He laughed and sat down on his bed with her.

"What movie did you decide on?"

"Rom-com obviously, I don't watch anything else. It's called Can't Buy Me Love."

"Heh My sisters love that film, I've watched so many times with them I can basically recite it word for word."

"Well, you're gonna watch it again!" They laughed together, and Meredith hit play.

About half-way through the movie, Meredith started to nod off and she ended up self-consciously resting her head on Derek's shoulder. Derek smiled wide This had been the most fun he'd had watching a Rom-com in a very long time. He turned off the Tv and tenderly shifted Meredith so she was pulled against his chest. He drifted off into a bliss-filled slumber, holding his new most favourite person in the world.

For a night he could believe that everything was perfect.

A/n: Done! Thank you for reading! I hoped to get it up earlier in the day but something went wrong and I had to rewrite half of it. So that kind of sucked. Regardless I hope that you'll favourite and review and this next chapter will be up in the next couple days! (I hope)
