Hello, guys gals and dinosaurs! Welcome to chapter 2 of Another divergent story! I know that I said there would be four x Amar and I promise I will there will be some switching of pov's in later chapters. Happy Reading!
"Katie, wake up." Mia lightly pushed on my shoulders. I just remember that today was choosing day. I don't really want to wake up.
"Come on, you promised I could choose what you ware, and do your hair and makeup, remember!"
"hmmm, 5 more minutes" I plead tiredly. we were up to late to be up this early.
"No. Get. Up!" she pushed me out of my bed, onto the cold, hard, floor.
"fine, I'm up, I'm up" she's too pushy. I'm going to miss her.
"ok, good. put this stuff on," she pointed to a Lacey black shirt, a nice white skirt, and a pair of black knee-high Convers, "and I'll do your hair and makeup afterward!" she finished with a too giddy smile, too energetic for this early in the morning. as I get dressed I start to wonder, how long was she in my room before I woke up.
I go to her room to get my hair and makeup done.
"Your soo pretty!" she practically squealed. she put my hair half up half down with a white rose clip. she did my make up with light eyeshadow and pink blush. then she put blood-red lipstick on me, I don't think I've ever looked so nice.
"thank you so much, I'm going to miss you," I said starting to tear up.
"girl, don't cry, I can not perfect that eyeshadow a second time," she said, trying to make me feel better. it wasn't really working. "so I take it you know what you're going to choose." she said kinda sadly.
"Well yeah, you can't tell anyone I told you but.."
"Girls! Let's go!" I was interrupted when mom came in to tell us it's time to leave. I guess she'll find out when I choose. on the way to the choosing ceremony we walked in complete silence. no one wanting to say a word. we passed through the entire candor district. then my mom stopped.
"Katie, you go on, get in line we'll have to go through the doors on the other side of the building." My mom said, tiredly. I nodded and hugged my sister and brother goodbye. when I walked away from them I saw a familiar face, it was Logan. he started walking towards me, shit I didn't want him to mess with me, not now.
"Hey, Katie," he said with a small, weak smile. he didn't call me Barbie, he must be worried too.
"h-hey logan, " I said, unsure of his intentions.
"um, can I walk with you?" he asked in a calm voice. I just nodded. "thanks, I um wanted to tell you that I'm, well, that I'm sorry, " I was confused, logan, the guy that's been so terrible to me, apologizing? I guess you never really know a person.
"Thanks, Logan, I'm sorry for slapping you yesterday, " I say, kinda feeling bad.
"No, you had every right to, I was way out of line with the things I said, "
"well, I guess, if this isn't the last time I see you, I'll just have to slap you every time you act up, " I say teasingly.
"Please don't, if you do I won't be able to feel my face in the next 2 days, " we both laugh a bit at that. who knew that the last time I laugh as a candor would be with the person who tormented me my whole life. it's kind of ironic. as we finally get to the line of 16-year-olds we wave to each other and go to our spots in the line. the line was alphabetical order so I was in the middle. now it's time to wait. I watch the people who choose, looking for people I know, first I see the boy who sits by me in math, he stays in candor, my lab partner chooses Amity, my best friend, Natasha, chooses erudite, I smiled a bit at that, then I see him, Tobias, the boy I ran into, he chooses something that surprises me for an abnegation, dauntless. it felt like it took forever, but at the same time it went by in a flash. before I knew it, I was up. I looked at the boles, chunks of earth for amity, water for erudite, glass for candor, smooth river stones for abnegation, and hot, smoking coles for dauntless. I grab the blade and am reminded of the simulation. I drag it along my palm and remember how I did this on my arm, so many times. I let the blood pool in my hand for a moment, I breathe in and pour the blood into the coles. The dauntless stand and cheer, pumping there first. I walk over to them smiling, I find an empty seat and sit. I look over to my sister, and she smiles at me with tears in her eyes, I can tell they're happy tears. I watch the rest of the people choose, cheering when someone chooses dauntless, then I saw Logan, he ran his hand through his shaggy, brown hair, then grabs the blade, cuts his hand, and drops his blood into the coles, I hear his blood sizzle. As we cheer he walks over to the crowd of cheering people. he takes a seat right next to me. the ceremony was almost over so me and Logan just chatted a bit as we wanted for the last person to choose. the last person chooses Abnegation. after that, the dauntless bolted up and quickly came to a sprint. I followed, running as fast as I could. we stormed through the hallways and doors. then we're outside, I heard someone shout about the train. The Train! I've always been afraid of the train. the train doesn't stop so we can't be riding it, thank gosh. then I see the older dauntless Jumping on to the train. What! we have to JUMP on?! one man is standing halfway out of the train lifting initiates on. as I approach the train I become uneasy, but I can't show that not here. when I'm close enough to touch the train I jump over and the guy grips my arm and pulls me in the rest of the way in. I sit against the wall, there weren't many people in the train car but people were still coming in. then Tobias was pulled in and fell over and landed right in front of me. I helped pull him up into a sitting position. he slid over so he was sitting against the wall next to me.
"We have to stop meeting like this." I laughed.
"like what?" he said, cocking his head to the side
"Falling" I replied with a giggle.
"oh, yeah" he laughed a bit "so how are you, Katie."
"I'm fine, now that I'm dauntless, how are you?"
"fine," he said, but there was a deep sadness in his voice.
"Are you sure Tobias?" I could tell he was unhappy
"Uh, Katie could you do me a favor, " he asks, changing the topic.
"Yeah?" I reply, confused
"Could you not call me Tobias, " he asked, why doesn't he want me to call him by his name? this boy confuses me so much.
"what should I call you then?" I ask
"it doesn't matter just not that, " he says. what's with the name? a burden? a crime? I decided not to ask him. a man came up to the front of the train.
"your jumping in less than a minute, be prepared!" WERE JUMPING OFF! this couldn't be happening. I look over to Tobias he seems to be freaking out too. we looked out the window of the train. we were up so high! I'm pretty sure we'll die if we miss the tops of the buildings. Tobias turns around, not wanting to look out the window. Is he scared of trains too? or maybe hights? the man walks over and pulls open the train car's door. the kids line up to jump. I had to get off this train. I'm the second in line, in front of me is an erudite boy, I recognize him from my history class, his name is Eric. Eric jumps and lands on the roof, I do the same. it was terrifying when my feet left the ground I had no idea where I was going to land. I was going through the air in what felt like slow motion. When my feet hit the surface I can feel my knees give out, then I fall into the gravel. a split second later a someone lands 4 inches to my left. I scramble to my feet and get out of the way of other kids. Eric walks over to me, for some reason.
"Hey Katie, do you remember me, from history?" he asked.
"Yeah, your Eric right?" I reply, I knew he was Eric but I wanted the conversation to go on longer.
"Yeah, I'm glad we're in the same faction," he said, trying to make small talk.
"Yeah, it is," I reply. I hear a scream. I turn around to see an Amity girl looking over the edge of the building. we look over and see an amity boy on the ground. I recognize the two of them. they were twins. the girl cry a bit but is interrupted when a dark-skinned, warm .smiled dauntless man stood up on the ledge of the roof.
"Wellcome to dauntless" He shouted. "WHere you ethier face your fears and try not to die in the proses, or you leave like a coward. we've got a record of low faction transfers this year, unsurprisingly."
everyone cheers at that for some reason.
"the only way to get into the dauntless compound is to jump," he continues he leans back on his heels pretending like he's about to fall, some of the transfers gasp, I turn to look at Tobias, he seems to be silently freaking out. he catches himself and grins. Tobias looks...relived? the older boy lines up the initiates to jump.
"Who wants to go first?" he asked. a dauntless boy goes up, he tries to look cool while jumping, but miserably fails. I decided that I can't wait any longer. I step forward and walk to the ledge. I take a breath in and out. then as I'm about to jump a feel a hand push against my back! I'm falling down faster and faster. I'm abruptly stopped by a net, it envelopes me. An arm is reached out towards me to pull me out, I take it and am pulled to my feet. A woman with sharp blue eyes steadies me.
"Name, " she asked.
"Katie, " I answer. she pushes me towards the first jumper. I can only think of one thing, who pushed me? did anyone see it? someone must have.
Thanks for reading the second chapter! I have already started on the third so it won't take as long to publish. Sorry for any wrong grammar or spelling. Bye
