Kakashi watched her moving with interest. Several feverish days on and off on a soft unfamiliar futon had given him the chance to observe her.
When he'd laid eyes on her the first time she was inhuman a forest goddess stalking from the foliage to claim a sacrifice. She was the forest of konoha personified. A feather tickled his neck as she leaned over him. Her hair is a curtain between their faces giving him the chance to scrutinize her. A damp rag ran over his chest cleaning more dried blood from healed wounds. He noted despite her lack of idle chatter she answered any questions asked. She also was richly clothed for someone who was considered an outcast and witch from the village. swathed in a rich soft silk dress she tended to him carefully. Her movements revealed high slits up both legs, both of which were wrapped hip to knee with bandages.
As he healed his senses slowly returned. She smelled of forest, sage, and sweet grass a peculiar but pleasing mixture. The witch didn't smell like steel and sweat. She didn't smell like a warrior. He was accustomed to the women of the village who smelled of sweat, blood, and harsh perfumed chemicals.
She tucked her pink locks behind her ear and her eyes locked with his own dark orbs. "Payment" she murmured softly motioning down.
Scrunching his brows in exhaustion and confusion he found himself feeling awkward for the first time in several days. She motioned down again, one brow raising at him as if to ask if he was a simpleton. Dragging his attention from her face he looked to where her hand motioned. His kunai pouch hung precariously from her waist. She nibbled her lip as if she was waiting on a response. She'd carefully bandaged him, cared for him, and ensured he would live to report on his latest mission.
"Good steel, shinobi steel." she said in explanation moving away from the futon once she determined he wasn't going to respond.
"Payment for…?" Kakashi gritted his teeth and pushed himself onto his elbows. He watched her cross the room with dark eyes.
"Healing" she looked over her shoulder and lifted a green chakra coated hand in explanation. "I trade many things for healing" she motioned her pale hand to a tall bookshelf built into the wall near her, overflowing with scrolls and books.
Kakashi had spent several days floating in an out of conciousness perusing her abode with his eyes. Unable to move and too polite to do more than look.
"You are a medic?" He was surprised. The chakra control needed for healing was no simple thing.
"Ch-" she made a chiding noise reaching over him and pulling the covers over him back into place. "I am a healer" she corrected holding a hand up in his line of sight. Her chakra burned green from her palm, he could feel the heat rise from her hand. "I know herbs and remedies". Her control of chakra was precise but would be nothing as refined as what would be found in medical textbooks. Born of trial and error on herself and refined over the years. "Rest, Kakashi" she muttered, adjusting his covers again, distracting herself. "Tomorrow I will help you to the gates."
"Your name?" He found himself croaking raggedly. His vision began to darken. She was briefly haloed in light, her mouth moving blurrily in his sight before his eyes closed again.
