Jack stared at the notes he had taken from when Danny was showing him his ghost powers.

Invisibility.

Intangibility.

Flight.

Ecto-blasts.

He studied the list carefully and placed in on a clipboard. He sat down at a desk located near the corner of the lab and placed the clipboard on the table. Danny had gone to bed for school the next morning, and now the man was alone with his thoughts.

There was one that was circled multiple times with red ink on the list.

Healing Factor?

That one was questionable since the fall that his son had taken only a couple hours previously should have caused some internal bleeding. Danny was living proof that everything he thought he knew was far off from the truth. There were so many things that he didn't know.

He turned in the desk chair and let out a long sigh. He rubbed a hand on his face and glanced over at the green numbers of the analog clock that was hanging on the wall. It was three in the morning, and he shook his head.

"You're mine, insufferable spook!"

Jack raised the Fenton Blaster up to where the ghost boy was floating. The man was hesitant - he was only a teenager. The ghost even looked a little like his son, and might have been close to his age. There was no way that this was his son - his son was alive and healthy. The ghostly teen looked at him with wide, piercing green eyes in fear and placed his hands up. "W-Wait, you don't want to shoot me!"

The sound of the gun went off.

Jack clenched his hands tightly and then slammed his right hand on the table with a loud scoff. "I tried hunting my own son…" He trailed, letting out a long breath. He was still coming to terms with the fact that his very own son was a half ghost. It shouldn't have been possible – how could someone be alive and dead at the same time?

"Are you sure you don't want to go to the hospital?" Maddie asked, placing a hand on Danny's shoulder. The teen looked up at his mother while blinking his eyes a few times. "I could run your vitals – make sure everything is okay?"

Jack was sitting across from the two of them at the dinner table. He was holding his fork right above the plate and watched his son curiously. Danny opened his mouth nervously to respond, but his father cut him off. "Of course he's alright! He even managed to turn on the ghost portal!" He grinned, while Danny closed his mouth and let out a small smile. "That's my son!"

Jack looked back at the clipboard. "He tried to tell me…But I…" The man leaned back in the desk chair and let out another sigh. "All this time I could have helped him. He was struggling with all this by himself." He looked back over at the clock to see that it was five in the morning now. Standing up from his chair, he made his way over to the stairs and slowly went up them.

Jack knew that he should do better.

He would have to do better.

Tucker walked over to Danny with a small smile. "I still can't believe that your dad is so accepting with everything." He then raised a fist up to the young halfa. Danny let out a smile himself and fist bumped his best friend. "But, how did he know you were phantom? Did you show him?"

Danny shook his head. "No…Actually, I just told him I was half ghost and he instantly made the connection." Tucker stared at him. "I didn't ask how."

"It's practically a mirror image," Sam said with a shrug. "Replace the black hair with white and eye color and you're twins." She then grinned. "Or the same person!" With a mumbled she looked over at the lockers that were lining the wall, "Who would have thought?"

Danny smiled at her teasing but then nodded. "You think he knew?" His two friends looked at him. Sam raised an inquisitive eyebrow. "Like, you think he somehow knew that I was part ghost and he didn't want to believe it?"

"It's possible. Your parent's inventions were always going off around you."

"Yeah, man, they were going to find out eventually."

The young halfa nodded and rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "Technically only my dad knows for now. My mom and Jazz still don't know." He brought his hand down to his side. "What if they aren't as accepting as my dad?"

"Then they won't find out," Sam concluded while crossing her arms. "Your mom moved to a different state, right?" Danny nodded. "She'll only find out if you slip up when visiting her. Or when she comes down to see you."

"How do I make sure not to slip up?" Danny asked. "I can barely control my powers now. But the divorce was so stressful that I turned intangible through the floor!" He let out a sigh and ran a hand through his hair. "It's okay," he said after letting out a breath. "I just need to focus on control," he paused for a second before adding, "And train more."

Tucker made a small noise, causing the other two teens to look at him. "It's just…" He trailed and raised his shoulders slightly. "You don't even know how to train." Danny looked at the ground in confusion. "It's not like preparing to run a marathon."

"Tucker-!"

"No, Tucker's right," Danny turned to look at Sam, effectively cutting her off. He then looked at Tucker sheepishly. "I don't know where to even start. I guess I'll have to talk to my dad about it."

The other teens shared a look with each other. Sam then looked at Danny, "How about we come over after school today? Make sure that your dad doesn't overdo it?" The young halfa rose an eyebrow in confusion at what she was saying. "He can get pretty excited about ghost stuff, remember? He might push you past your limits."

Danny nodded and walked forward as he turned to the front. Dash and Kwan were walking side by side while talking about something loudly. Danny caught a few words that sounded as if they were speaking about football. The blonde haired jock looked at him and then let out a small frown. The young halfa didn't know if he should start running away from his bully at that moment.

Instead, he stayed put and decided to deal with whatever Dash threw at him. However, when the two football players reached him, they stopped.

"Fenton…" Dash looked off to the side nervously.

Danny was taken aback by that – when was Dash ever nervous?

Especially when talking to him?

"Listen, uh…" He cleared his throat and punched himself in the chest to gain back his confidence. This startled the three teens that were around him. "I'm sorry about what happened."

Danny was even more confused and looked at the ground then back to Dash. "What…happened?"

Dash narrowed his eyes. "Are you really going to make me spell it out?"

"No, we know that you can't spell," Sam said while crossing her arms. "The last thing we'd want is to humiliate you," her tone was dry and witty. The other jock that was beside Dash took a step forward to defend his friend.

"Dash is trying to be nice here!" Kwan spat back.

Dash looked up at the ceiling of the school and then let out a small exhale to calm himself. He then looked directly at Fenton once more. "I'm sorry about what happened with your parents. I know…" He started to say, but then stopped himself. He then cleared his throat. "Uh…Just, I'll make sure no one messes with you." With that, the blonde headed teen strode away and Kwan followed him.

Danny turned to his two friends and rose his eyebrows. "Did…" He paused, unnerved by what just happened. He pointed his thumb at the jocks retreating backs. "Was he nice to me?" Sam and Tucker both nodded their heads, amazed that the bully showed concern towards anyone except himself for once. "You two saw that, right?"

"Yeah, dude. I just can't believe it."

"You don't think that his parents are divorced, do you?" Sam pointed out, looking at the retreating backs of the two jocks. Then, she gazed over at her friends. "It would make sense for him acting like that."

Danny stayed silent. He didn't want to comment on that – or even think about Dash's life. "A-Anyway, let's go to class."

"Dad?" Danny asked, pushing open the door. It was eerily quiet inside of the house. Sam and Tucker both shifted awkwardly inside. "Dad!" He yelled, and there was a loud noise from down in the basement. Danny narrowed his eyes at that before he ran towards the basement door. He pried it open and looked down to see his father tripping over some his old inventions. "Dad," Danny began to walk down the stairs.

Jack looked up and stepped over a large steel dome on the floor. "Danny boy!" He stated with excitement. "Just doing a little cleaning down here." Danny looked back at his friends with a small frown but then looked back at his dad. "What's going on? How was school?"

"Surprisingly good, actually…" Danny trailed, walking into the lab. "But, uh, there's something I wanted to ask you about." Sam and Tucker trailed after their friend, and Jack saw them walking down the stairs.

"Danny, are you sure you want to talk about it now?" Jack looked at Sam and Tucker with a concerned expression. He was on the defensive – he didn't know whether or not Danny's friends knew about his secret.

Danny rose an eyebrow in confusion and looked back and forth between his friends and father. "Huh?" He paused. "Oh! No, they already know. They were there when it happened." Jack's face fell, and Danny barely noticed it before Jack smiled again. "I don't really have good control on my powers. I was hoping the two of us could find a way to work on training or something?"

Jack nodded slowly. "Well, I'm not sure how much help I can do for you right now, son." Danny nodded slowly, about to retreat back upstairs. "But I'm going to do as much as I can. Heck, let's all work together. We're Team Phantom, right?" He boomed, gesturing to everyone in the room.

"Oh, speaking of being a team, I have some statistics on my PDA we can look over," Tucker announced, raising the piece of technology in the air. "It has Danny's fastest times on here. Also some pictures that I was thinking we could put on his online dating profile."

"Tucker!" Sam and Danny both yelled.

"That joke has gone on for too long!" Sam crossed her arms while raising her voice. She tried to stop her face from becoming flushed with embarrassment. Danny rolled his eyes and walked over to his dad. "Just show Mr. Fenton the data already!"

Tucker frowned. "Fine, fine. You two are such killjoys!" He walked over to the man to show him some of the data he had collected. Sam looked around all the junk that was collected in a pile. She furrowed her eyes and walked over while bending down. She picked up a large pole that could be bent easily. Her eyes lit up with an idea.

"Mr. Fenton, what were you planning on doing with all this stuff?"

Jack glanced up from the PDA. "I was going to throw that stuff out. It was mostly stuff that Maddie was working on anyways." The three teens in the room stilled at the mention of Danny's mom, and the man caught onto the atmosphere. "I appreciate the support, but I'm an adult. You kids don't need to be concerned about me."

Danny walked over to Sam, "What were you thinking about using it for?" She looked at him with a snarky grin covering her face. She knew that Danny would love her idea.

"Obstacle course to help train your powers."

"That's a great idea!" Danny and Jack both said at the same time. They looked at each other with large smiles on their faces. Danny let out a chuckle and Jack walked over and ruffled his son's hair. "How about we all start with some designs?"

To be continued…
