This chapter is kind of a drag, but it's written so y'all can see Misty and Clementine's relationship. Also, it was originally a thunderstorm in spring, but after writing more of the story, I realized the storm needed to be at the end of January. Why not make it a blizzard then? Because thunderstorms are loud and scary, so Clementine would sleep with Misty. Due to global warming, there have been rainstorms in January anyways. "Oh. But global warming isn't real." Chill, whoever you are. Enjoy~
Chapter 2
The next morning, Misty's alarm wakes her and Clementine up. The girl looks up at her aunt and smiles. "Mornin', Auntie Misty."
Misty yawns and sits up before smiling at the girl. "Morning Clem! Do you want to come help me at the gym today?" Clementine's green eyes go wide and she nods excitedly. "Okay! Well, let's go get ready then!" The two Waterflowers get up and brush their teeth. After Misty changes into her swimsuit and jacket, she dresses Clementine into a baby blue dress that has a white ribbon at the waist.
The two eat eggs and toast with avocado for breakfast. Since Violet was pregnant, Misty took it upon herself to learn how to cook nutritious meals for her sister. None of the Waterflower sisters knew how to cook, but Misty did not want her sister feeding the baby unhealthy nutrients. Now, Misty cooks for her, Violet, and Clementine because Violet never learned how to cook.
While eating, Misty sends a quick text to Violet: Taking Clem to the gym. She hopes her sister will come home soon so that Clementine won't be too bored at the gym. Violet usually stayed out overnight when meeting men. Sometimes, she would stay with them a few days, but Misty really needed to focus on the gym. The gym inspector hadn't come yet this year, and she was anxious. Also, whenever Misty was battling, she'd have Politoed watching Clementine, which meant the gym leader was without one of her strongest Pokemon.
Misty notices the time and sees she has about an hour before the gym opens. Usually, she would watch the morning news or spend time with Clementine if the girl was awake, but Misty urgently needed to finish taking down the last of the decorations. Once Clementine also finishes her breakfast, the redhead quickly washes the dishes before taking the girl's hand and walking to the gym.
Misty sets out food for the Pokemon, and Clementine "helps," but really, the 4 year old just set out the bowls in a nice line while Misty poured the food. Misty then picks up Clementine into her arms to make sure the girl doesn't run off before grabbing her whistle by the poolside. She blows it and her Pokemon all come out to eat breakfast. She waits until Politoed is done eating before leaving him with the usual task of babysitting Clementine. Fortunately, Clementine loves Politoed because "he is so silly" as she likes to say.
Misty prepares the last of the paperwork before Gyarados is done eating. She rides him up to the higher decorations and tears them down. They drop down to her Pokemon below to throw into the trash bags. Misty is happy that her hard working team has finished cleaning the gym in time, well about 10 minutes late, but no challengers have entered the unlocked gym doors yet.
The woman decides to go check on Politoed and Clementine before working on more gym paperwork. She walks into the Pokemon resting area to see Clementine sitting by the small poolside with Politoed. While Clementine is a wonderful swimmer, like the Waterflower she is, Misty only allows the little girl to swim with an adult human. Clementine, seeing her aunt enter the room, smiles up at her.
"Me and Politoed are having fun!" She tells her aunt.
Misty smiles back at the girl. "I'm glad! Did you want to come with me to my office?" Clementine nods happily and takes Misty's hand before grabbing Politoed's hand with her other one. The three walk into the gym's office where Misty has some coloring books for the little girl. Politoed sits down on a chair next to her and watches videos on Misty's tablet while Misty is sitting at her desk across from them.
Some time later, Misty checks the time and notices it is 10:22AM. The gym has been open for almost an hour and a half without a challenger, especially since she usually gets a challenger right when the gym opens. Violet has also not texted Misty back. Deciding she needs a break from paperwork, the woman grabs her remote and turns on the TV in her office to get her daily dose of the news.
"Again. This is Brian Medworth with channel 7 news. Due to last night's intense storm, many streets have been blocked by fallen trees. Half of Cerulean City is without power and there is still the unfortunate major car accident on Wave St. We are advising people to stay indoors as law enforcement try their best to work through this trying time." Misty zones out the television as she wonders why she hadn't been informed of the crisis in Cerulean City. She looks at her office phone and it is then that she notices the phone is dead. In a panic, she checks her computer and sees that the backup generator has been on since late last night. Misty checks the office phone again and follows its power cord to find it unplugged. She mentally curses her sisters since they are known to repeatedly unplug random electronics in her office in order to charge their phones, especially since yesterday's party was pretty long and battery-draining.
Misty's pokenav number is only known by her close friends and Violet. Usually Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny would have this number, but Misty had been the victim of a hacker who got into her previous pokenav, so she recently replaced it and hasn't gotten the chance to inform the two women of the new number. Also, Lily and Daisy usually talk to Violet, so Misty hasn't had the need to tell them her new number yet.
Once the office phone is plugged back into the outlet, the phone beeps with many messages. Misty clicks to the first one:
"Leader Misty! We need your help on 6th and Wave St.! There's been a multiple car pileup! Please get here ASAP!" from Officer Jenny at 4AM.
"Leader Misty! We have a lot of injured Pokemon and trainers at the Pokemon Center! Please send assistance when you can!" came Nurse Joy's message at around 5AM.
"There are many injured people from the accident and storm, Leader Misty!" This one is from the Cerulean City General Hospital at 8AM.
"Gym Leader Misty, we have heard about the crisis in Cerulean City today. Please stay safe and let us know if you need any assistance! You have permission to close the gym today." This one is from the League at 9:10AM. Misty mentally curses herself and shuts her eyes tight. She needs to go help her city, but she cannot bring Clementine, much less leave the little girl alone in the gym with Politoed. While she trusts her Pokemon, she just knows it is very irresponsible leaving a Pokemon to watch over a young child.
The gym leader then pulls out her pokenav and dials Violet's number while listening to her last voicemail on the office phone from 9:47AM. Of course, Violet's phone goes to voicemail, so Misty starts leaving her a voicemail: "Violet, you need to come back and watch Clem! I need to help with the city's crisis. Please call-" Misty stops speaking as the office voicemail finishes playing.
"Please, Misty! Hurry! It's Vi!" cries Daisy's voice.
"Oh, shit." Misty thinks as she grabs Clementine, her car keys, Clem's jacket, and rushes out of the gym.
Ash finally appears in the next chapter! I'm feeling good so I gave y'all another chapter. Tune in tomorrow for the next one! I'll be uploading a new chapter every day. There are only 25 chapters in this story. :)
