Guess who's back, back again... Sunday's back!
I know I only posted the story the other day but I thought I would be kind and give you an extra chapter today! I'll be updating this story weekly on a Sunday.
Thank you for all the love from the first chapter; 10 follows, 8 favourites and 4 reviews for the first chapter, I love you guys, thank you so much for the love and I can't wait to see what love I get for this chapter... if any of course.
Anyone else becoming more poor during this lockdown thing? I have booked myself another holiday. I complain all the time about having no money but then I look at my plane tickets and I'm actually fine with having no money. I'm going back to Australia this December... I cannot wait! I was hoping to go to America this summer but that doesn't look like that is going to happen now.
I hope you are all still staying safe!

Lunchtime was stupid busy today and the poor girls were rushed off their feet; I helped as much as I could but we really needed someone else to run the food. I had someone leave a couple months ago because she was moving to another state with her husband to look after his sick mother and I never got round to replacing her but I needed to. I can't keep asking the girls to work themselves like this, I try to be as fair as possible and I know sometimes you need a smoke break but when I got a bar and restaurant full of people and not enough staff, I can't have people going off for 10 minutes smokes... I can't even go so they're not going.
My longest serving employee was Carol. When she started here it was just a little extra money to get her kid things for school and then I found out what an asshole her husband was. It didn't take me long to figure out that he was beating on Carol and she used to come in covered in marks and bruises and came up with the same old story; she fell. Carol knew that excuse wasn't working on me and she confided in me that her husband was a dick but she didn't have anywhere else to go if she left him or any family or friends to turn to. I kept my eye on her but eventually she got the strength to pack her and her daughter's stuff and she left that son of a bitch!
She served him divorce papers and that night he came into the bar and he was gonna kill her so I jumped in and with the help of a couple others we got his sorry piece of ass outside and I gave him a beating. I warned him to stay away from me, my bar, Carol and Sophia or I was gonna kill him and he knew I'd do it and I could get away with it by saying it was self defence, everyone knew what kinda man he was so it would be easy to do but we haven't seen him since and that was 6 years ago now.
I felt bad for Carol as she felt like it was her responsibility to take on all the extra work when we were understaffed because she knew the job and this place so well. She was picking up extra sections in the restaurant and serving like crazy on the bar, she was one in a million and my best employee... not that I was gonna tell the others that... but I felt bad making her work like this. I really need to pull my finger out and get someone else in here as soon as possible, I don't care if they have no experience or the best experience, I just need someone to help.
When the girls finish work tonight they are all getting food and drink on me! They have all worked their asses off today and they have helped me make a ton of money and I'm pretty sure they made a good amount in tips too. I loved my team and all the girls were amazing at their jobs, yes Carol is the best employee I got but the others are amazing, I really do have the dream team.

Maggie kept to her work and she had been driving around town with me all day and was helping me hand out resumes. A lot of people took one look and saw that I had no experience in anything and told me they wasn't hiring at the minute. I never knew it was this hard to find a job, I thought that there would be somewhere in town that was looking for someone, I don't even care what the job is but I want something.
"One place left," Maggie said as she parked the car "Dixon's bar and grill." She stated as I looked up at the neon sign above the door.
Dixon's Bar & Grill was owned by Daryl Dixon, a local to these parts and someone who comes from a family that do not have a good reputation. I don't remember his parents by daddy told me that they were basically trailer trash and we beating the hell out of each other all of the time, he said that both of them were big drinkers and heavy users. Mrs Dixon passed away when she fell asleep in bed with a lit cigarette after drinking heavily and burned the house down then after she died, Mr Dixon took all the insurance money and ran off with some woman half his age and was never seen again.
There were two brothers; Merle and Daryl. Merle was a chip off the old block and was a big drinker and into drugs and then Daryl was the complete opposite of everything he grew up around. He was in a little trouble for fighting in his teenage years but apart from that he's been on the right side of the law. He isn't known for being into drugs, he doesn't cause any trouble and he just runs his bar and grill on the edge of town... to be honest I had forgotten all about this place.
"One of the waitress', Stacey, left not too long ago and I don't think Daryl's replaced her yet so you might be in with a chance," Maggie urged as we walked through the doors.
It was half full inside but you can tell by the stack of glasses waiting to be cleaned that lunchtime had been busy. I noticed Daryl Dixon at the bar immediately, he was serving some guy a beer but looked up when he heard us come in the door.
I put on my best confident smile and walked up to the bar.
"Mr Dixon?"
"Yeah,"
"I was wondering if ya'll were hiring?" I questioned hopefully and handed him my resume "I'm at college studying to be a veterinarian but I'm looking for some part time work," I explained.
"You ever waitressed before?" He asked.
"No sir but I'm a quick learner," I replied.
He studied my then my resume for a moment.
"Are you free for a quick interview now?"
"Of course," I replied happily.
He called someone to come and take over the bar and then he led me into his office. I never realised this building was so big. His office was at the back of the building tucked away in the corner, I looked around the walls and saw different crossbows hanging up... scary.
"Beth Greene... any relation to Hershel Greene?"
"Yes, he's my daddy," I told him.
"He's a good man yer pops. I've not seen him in here for a while," He said.
"I'll tell him to stop by," I stated.
"I gotta be honest with you Beth. I'm really glad you came in lookin' for a job, I am desperate to find someone to help cover the busy periods at the weekends and a couple late shifts during the week. When it gets busy it's all hands on deck and there's not much time for taking breaks and such, it's hard work bein' on your feet all day," He explained.
"That's fine with me. I help my daddy out on the farm so I'm used to hard work," I answered.
"We got a good strong team here. Everyone gets along, we all work together and we try to have a bit of fun on bad days. I need to know yer gonna fit in well with the girls I got here at the minute," He said.
"I don't like confrontation or drama. I make an effort to get to know people and I like getting to know people. I'm quite an easy person to be around and I find it easy to make friends," I told him.
"I'll tell ya what. We'll give you a trial shift next Saturday night and see how you get on," He offered.
"That'd be great!" I exclaimed happily "Thank you very much Mr Dixon," I added.
"Daryl," He corrected.
"Thank you Daryl. I promise I'll do the best I can," I said.
"That's all I ask."
Daryl led me out of his office and back towards the bar where I found Maggie waiting in a booth, talking to one of the women. She was an older woman, in her 40s maybe. She had cropped grey hair and a kind face, both the woman and Maggie turned to look at me and she gave me a smile before leaving. Maggie stood from the booth and looked at me with excited eyes and I nodded, she hugged me as we made our way out of the bar.
As Maggie drove us home I explained to her that it was only a trial shift but saying it all went to plan and goes well, I'm going to be working there! I was so excited but I was lucky that Maggie knew they might have been looking for someone to replace someone who left.

When Beth walked in and told me she was looking for a job, I knew I was going to give it to her without interviewing her but I wanted the chance to talk to her a little bit and get a feel for her. I had no doubt that she was going to fit in well here, she was sweet, chatty and bubbly which is what I need here. I do worry that she might be too kind and sweet for somewhere like here but I'm here to look over her in case someone does do something stupid.
There was something about Beth that made me want to protect her and look after her, I don't know if it's because she's only 19 years old and this is her first job or if it is just simply her being herself, I'm drawn to her and I don't understand why.
"She's pretty," Carol stated as Beth left the bar with another girl, slightly older then her.
"She's gonna do a trial shift next Saturday night. I need you to work with her," I said to Carol who nodded at my request "Look after her," I added.
"Don't worry, I got her back." Carol stated and walked away to serve someone.
What was it about this girl?
I became excited for the following Saturday and seeing her again. Maybe I could call her and get her to come in during the week before her shift, maybe to get her uniform or something. I felt myself drawn to her and just wanting to see her as much as I could... I sounded like some crazy stalker, what the hell is wrong with me?
Ok, I need to stop this. She's a 19 year old kid for crying out loud... I need a drink.
Oooo so Daryl has already for a keen interest in Beth.
How will he play it?
Will Beth fit in with the other girls?
What is Daryl and Hershel's history?
Do Maggie and Carol know one another?
You have one week to find out!
Thank you for reading and as always if you please could follow, favourite and of course review... it really means the world to me!
