Ohma said: Yeah, I couldn't resist having Izuku surprising Emon the same way he was surprised. Eating hair isn't actually that hard, it's just considered grozz because some people have naturally greasy hair.

You pretty much skipped over Deku's explanation of One For All to Emon and how he wanted for her to become his successor (granted it probably didn't have quite the same dramatic effect, since Deku probably didn't transform into a walking skeleton who regularly coughs up blood, but still, it would be a moment which completely overturns Emon's understanding of how quirks work).

I did. Emon isn't that into Quirk Analysis like Izuku was when he was younger, and when All Might defeated All for One, some of the schools began to teach that there might be some quirks out there that could transfer or be taken, so by the time she's getting One for All, it's pretty much guessed that there's a quirk like it out there somewhere.

If it's been 35 years then Deku (I get the impression that he has yet to tell Emon his real name - of course All Might didn't exactly rush to tell Midoriya his real name either) is now in his fifties. I wonder how many of his former classmates are even still active (I would think that professional heroes tend to retire young - and even most of his instructors back when he was a student at UA were younger than he would be now).

He has not told her his real name actually. He thought he did, but it slipped his mind when she asked what One for All would do to her current quirk. She technically finds out what his name is in this chapter. It's been roughly 30-35 years since Deku graduated/became a Pro, so yes, he'd be in his 50s. It's implied that All Might is in his late 40s early 50s though, and with all these healing quirks, I always imagined a normal lifespan has grown from roughly 95 years to maybe 130 throughout the decades. (Note: All for One is still considered batfuck ancient because he was born when Quirks first emerged) This could help explain why Recovery Girl and Gran Torino are allowed to operate as Pros despite their age. And yes, Aizawa and Yamada are actually in their 30s, so you're not far off! I do have some of his classmates as teachers, though with their elongated lifespan, majority are still Pros.

Thank you for the review!

acosta perez jose ramiro said: This is a very nice one-shot. I can see Izuku doing this to find a successor himself. Keep the good writing.

Ohma said: HAHA I HAVE FOOLED YOU! This isn't a one-shot but rather a request drabble series. Basically, if y'all want to see Emon and the cast react to something, just request it in a comment and I'll write up a chapter with the request! Vague asks can (and will) get angst!

Em didn't mean to search online for stuff involving Deku before he had his Quirk.

She had an assignment from Hado-sensei, and she had decided to do it on Ground Zero with the mental promise of never telling Deku about it, like, ever. But finding out about Ground Zero's childhood was hard, especially from before he enrolled at UA.

All she found was a news article about how All Might had saved two third-year boys from a villain, with one of the only photos being of Ground Zero... glaring right at a very small looking Deku. 'I didn't even know he was that small!' She thought, staring at the image of her mentor. 'That date... that was the day All Might chose him to be his successor?' She tried looking for any other articles, for any other leads as to what happened as to why All Might chose Deku but she couldn't find anything else. 'I'm going to have to talk to him, aren't I?' With a mental sigh, she shut her laptop and pulled out her phone.

Em: Can we meet up soon? I have a few questions for this essay Hado-sensei assigned us.

Deku: Sure! Dagobah Beach in 30?

Em: Sounds good Deku-sensei!

She didn't have to wait long as Deku walked up and settled beside her on the bench. "You're doing Kacchan?" he asked in surprise, causing her to look at him with wide eyes. Did... did he just call Ground Zero a cute-ass thing you call a child?

"Uhm... yeah, we drew from a hat and I got Ground Zero," she replied. "I really didn't want to ask you questions but he's, like, the third most reclusive Hero I've had to write about since I got into UA." The other two, of course, being Yagi Toshinori All Might and Deku himself. "All I found was this article about All Might," she winced at the quick whip of grief that went through Deku. "Saving you and Ground Zero. It's... from the same day he took you under his wing."

"Y-yeah..." He took the printed piece of paper, and the grief was a bit more tangible as she saw him stare at the photo. "I completely forgot about this photo. Death Arms and Kamui Woods were too busy chewing me out for running into a villain fight Quirkless for all of us to notice this."

She knew he had been Quirkless before, but hearing that he rushed in before he had gotten One for All? Before All Might had even chosen him as a successor? "What happened?" She asked quietly, placing a hand on his arm. His grief, it was starting to get too much. She hated doing this, but as she grabbed his arm, she did her best to try to turn the grief into a type of bittersweet feeling. Deku had told her to do it, to practice on him, but she hated it. It felt dirty, like she was doing something morally illegal.

"Kacchan tried to threaten me into not applying to UA," he replied and she quickly jerked her hand away, panic filling her. Did she accidentally overdo it? He glanced at her, green eyes sparkling in amusement, but there was a serious tone too. "You should know this, Emon. I should've told you how I met All Might," another whip of grief, though it was a little smaller than normal. "Sooner. Are the other kids from your old school still making fun of you?"

The brunette hesitated before nodding. "They find me while I'm trying to get to school." she admitted quietly. He let out a pained noise at this.

"I'm sorry." There was an awkward pause before he spoke again. "Kacchan- Ground Zero, he bullied me."

"What?!" She yelped. "But you team up all the time if you aren't with Duality, Uravity or Ingenium!"

"He... he's paid for his mistakes and I forgave him long ago," he answered, pain in his voice. "We were fourteen, the day we met All Might. Kacchan, he cornered me with a few others, said that I was a Quirkless, worthless nothing." He let out a jaded chuckle and her blood ran cold at his next words. "He told me to kill myself in hopes of getting a Quirk in my next life."

'He... he told...' her mind couldn't compute it, but yet, his words echoed and balanced around her head.

"It hurt, but I just went home. Because I lingered, I was one of the last students to leave campus, so I was the last one going under a bridge beside the school. A sludge villain, the same one who All Might saved Kacchan from, he appeared from the manhole and started to suffocate me, trying to use my body to hide in." Em sat, frozen and shivering. She had only come face to face to a few villains herself, but she was always behind the police lines, and by the time the villain noticed her, they had already been apprehended. "All Might came about thirty seconds after the attack began and he quickly got the villain off of me. I didn't know about his time limit then, or how close he was to it, so when he woke me up, I clung to him as he jumped, forcing him to land and... deflate... early. I asked if I could be a Hero, even though I was Quirkless."

"He obviously said yes," she murmured, but Deku shook his head.

"He said no. That I should get more realistic goals. He left me, up there, on a skyscraper after knowingly shattering one of the few dreams that kept me sane." Her heart clenched and she looked at him with wide, scared eyes. "Don't look like that, I didn't do anything. It did cross my mind, but I would've never acted on it." his words didn't calm her rushing heart. "I went back home, or, I tried to."

"The villain escaped, didn't he?" She whispered.

"Yes. When I was clinging to All Might, I accidentally made him drop the bottle holding him over a shopping district. Kacchan kicked it and freed him. My feet led me to the scene on instinct, and when I asked, his mouth and nose had been covered for 45 seconds." She swallowed thickly, the pieces clicking.

"Your feet moved before you could think. Just like..." 'Just like mine,' she finished mentally. She had a near useless Quirk, and when faced with the possible death of someone she knew, someone she cared for, she didn't panic or freeze. She raced forward.

"It was what spurred All Might into acting. My actions allowed him to gather the strength to save us. Later, when we were allowed to go home, he found me and apologized. Said he was nothing but a muscled figurehead because, for a bit, he honestly thought a Quirkless couldn't be a Hero." His gaze was far off, and the bittersweet grief was present. "He said the mark of a True Hero was that, in all instances where danger threatened someone, they all did one thing: their feet moved before they could think. All Might... Toshinori, he chose me because I reminded him of his mentor. I chose you for the same reason."

"I..." her eyes burned as she furiously wiped them, doing her best not to start crying. "T-thank you." Deku grinned and let out a soft laugh before pulling her into a hug.

"Hey, Switcher, did you hear? Ground Zero is coming to help with some of 3-A's and 3-B's classes!"

Em paused from where she was writing notes to look at Hirano Naora, one of her 1-A classmates. Faintly, she recalled her mentor's words and her teeth grounded against one another. "Is he really now?" she purred. "Do you know when?"

"No," she pouted, glowing skin giving off a light pink aura. "Only that it's for their next few heroic classes."

Well, looks like she has a friendly visit to pay.
