Once more, the world shook. Stones rose then fell, shattering and spreading accross the battlefield. The mechanical yellow flame, powered by Kāma, razed the place he called home straight to the ground. The downfall of the Hidden Leaf. The dreams of a madman and the nightmares of our hero.

Boruto wished it was simply another nightmare. But, as the fire blew him back towards the Hokage monument he was consumed by the fact that he was awake. Wide wide awake. He reached for his headband only to find Sarada's. It spread through him like a lightning bolt. He felt the cold embrace of fear as his nightmare became a new and macabre premonition. But things weren't the same. He wasn't in any building.. and Sarada should still be alive She was saf-

"Uzumaki!" Came the voice of the young man. His blonde and gray hair had grown longer, seemingly looking unkept. His scowl was menacing as the inhuman and mechanical yellow flame licked at his feet. How had Boruto fallen so far behind? it hadn't been so long since he and Kawaki were experimenting with the mark. Just seeing what it was like to dip a toe in the water that made up the Kāma. Back then it seemed like a stream. But in this moment, Boruto faced the force of the ocean in it's entirety. For the first time in his life he felt small. Weak. For once in his life, he didn't know if he could win.

All of a sudden, Karma had caught up with him. Years upon years of overconfidence seemed to join and meld into a dark glob of anxiety. His lungs felt tight and his breathing fell short. Sarada should be at his side. Being alone meant he had no one to look tough for and that messed him up. He felt just seconds from having a panic attack. He's about to fail.

In a whoosh, black hair clouded his vision. It swayed softly in the wind. The world suddenly regained saturation. Boruto's Widened eyes suddenly realized only a second had passed. The world had kept moving despite his fear. It all made sense.. The world didn't care about his fear. The river of time only slowed once it reached it's end.

He took a brave step and intertwined his fingers with Sarada's. This was it. The end and the begging.

Kawaki's laugh cut through his introspection. It was cruel and mirthless "So the Princess of the Sharingan has come to stand with her clear eyed knight?!"

The Fallen hero clenched his fists so hard his palms bled. "It'll only save me some time, HUNTING YOU DOWN!"

With that, the fight had begun. Kawaki rushed forwards with enough strength to the break the stone which formed the faces of their previous leaders. His high speed approach was instantly halted by a stone pillar erecting itself in his direction. Sarada had her palms on the ground.

"Doton: Stone Breach!" came from Sarada. "I won't need a Kāma mark to break you Kawaki!"

Boruto Knew Sarada's move almost like it was his own. Knowing her, the pillar would be hollow. He vaulted over her and landed on the pillar with a kick. A hole was made. It was tiny, but it would work. In a split second, Boruto had made two handsigns. His hands covered the hole as high pressurized water gushed out. "Suiton: Water Sport"

Water travelled up the spire rapidly. When Kawaki tried to break through in his avance, the water pushed back, sending him flying back in a jet stream. He landed ten feet away, digging his heels on the Shodaime's nose. This attack would not be enough obviously. Kawaki retaliated by cupping his left hand with his right. Yellow flame sparked to life and created and orb. With a mighty throw, the orb broke through the earth spire, Before Boruto could react, the Orb was a foot from him. Sarada was another thing though, she had a sharingan. time slowed for her as she gave Boruto a Roundhouse kick to move him away. Then she jumped and almost as if dancing in the air, she dodged the Flaming orb by an inch.

The orb itself went flying and hit the face of Boruto's own father. Boruto himself had already recovered and rushed at Kawaki with his sword. Like two others before it, the sword's name was Kusanagi. But unlike them, this one could do a very nifty trick. Boruto slashed it through the air at Kawaki. The madman knew better so he dodged, but he wasn't fast enough and the front of his shirt was slashed open, drawing only a little of his silver blood. "Damn you.. Boruto!" Kawaki yelled as he seemingly melted his own foot in half a second, then in the other half second it reformed into a sharp spike.

Kawaki slashed his foot at Boruto who suffered a shallow cut along the side of his neck. Red blood gushed and fell in the middle of the silver. Neither had she'd much blood but it was the small victories that mattered. In the small moment that both of their brains decided to be poetic, Sarada had run over and slid, kicked out Kawaki's normal foot which had been his only anchor to the ground.

But Kawaki wasn't one to complain. He rolled with the kick and rotated his body to kick Boruto in the face with his newly reformed foot. Sarada visibly cringed at this since it was basically her fault. "Sorry Honey!" She squeaked as she jumped back.

"Honey" retreated as well, holding his nose. "Damn it Kawaki why the nose?" he asked truthfully, albeit childishly.

Kawaki stopped for a second and frowned. "I'm Litterally trying to murder you."

Boruto smiled and shrugged. "Well, complaining is a good distraction!"

Kawaki panicked and turned around, only to find a fist, specifically one full of Fire chakra which hit him straight on the cheek.

The Battle Waged for three hours. The couple would get ahead only for Kawaki to snatch away their lead countless times. All three participants were tired, bloody and bruised. Most of all was Sarada. You see, the Sharingan wasn't simply an ornament. It's evolution gave all it's users a unique power with the problem of eventually going blind. In this case, Sarada had used her Mangekyō in this fight more than she had ever in her life. And now, while she could still see reasonably well, her glasses only gave her a headache and her reactions were sluggish.

At some point, Boruto had activated his own Doujutsu. His pure eye seemed to counter the Kāma flames completely, which evened the load so Sarada's eyes could rest. He himself was tired as hell, but the burn from the small seal in his hand made the pain seem ebb and dull.

Kawaki was cockier than ever. "Do you two really think you can keep this up?! Boruto! you haven't even begun to tap into the power you hold. And poor Sarada, How are your eyes treating you?" He laughed and slowly began to crowd his yellow flame around his fists once again. His laughs ceased after a few seconds. "You don't even know why you fight! The world I'm creating is BEAUTIFUL! I'm on the side of Humanity! You should be helping me! a clean world will only be one without ninja scourge!"

Boruto ground his teeth. "Are you insane?!" he asked. "Have you forgotten everything? YOU! are a ninja! One of us!"

Kawaki's smile faded into a scowl. Perhaps the blond idiot had a point. In a world without ninja, he wouldn't be able to rule. But this was his destiny... The Kāma told him the world was his to keep or to raise... or was it raze? In his delusions, Kawaki realized fate had betrayed him. But he was a true man. If he couldn't rule.. No one would "You are an imbecil! and you shall die as one!"

He had many plans, First he would wipe out the ninja villages, then he would destroy the survivors. Finally he would kill Boruto. With Boruto's energy he would open a portal to a place only called "The Convergence of Reality" He could have done it on his own but he was paranoid. The effort could and should kill him.

But, as he stared at his opponents his desperation overpowered his rationality, before swallowing his paranoia. He would win, no matter if he died. He would destroy This reality and rebuild it in his image.

The yellow flame deepened into a golden hue as he forced every last bit of Kāma into the small place that was the middle of his fist. It's shine was becoming unbearable to all but the madman. "I win.." Kawaki muttered as he put so much of the Kāma energy into his fist that the small mark in his palm dissapeared.

In that second Kawaki jumped at Boruto like a madman with a wild and reckless punch. The blonde panicked and raised his right hand in defense.

As their fists collided the energy of the Kama swirled into Boruto's hand and into his own Kāma seal. Sarada rushed in to help but it was too late. The energy turned black and spread. The void seemed to kill everything, yet leave it untouched. Last thing Boruto saw was Sarada being overtaken by the seemingly sentient sludge.

Then, there was only darkness.
