Chapter 2

Hawks brought Tsukuyomi into the mountain that is located few kilometers away from his office. He scanned the whole area and spotted the place where the hikers nor tourist will visit. Hawks mumbled 'Bingo' and grinned for finding a perfect place for them to conduct their surprise training.

"Here we are, Tsukuyomi~" Hawks drawled and carefully unwrapped his arms around his intern after confirming the ground. Tsukuyomi muttered a thank you to his mentor then scanned the area. Rustling of the maple leaves dances with the night breeze which creates a serene symphony in the area. The bright moonlight that hovers high above their head gives a gentle atmosphere which blends perfectly with the rows of clouds passing by and tiny stars that glints at the background.

"This is a beautiful place, Hawks. But what kind of training are we going to do?" Tsukuyomi inquired, finally asking the question he wanted to inquire during their flight. Hawks grinned then inserted his one hand inside his pocket then pointed his finger towards his intern with his other hand.

"We will train you to use your quirk, Dark Shadow until the limit. Surprising, isn't it?"

Tsukuyomi wasn't able to contain his dumbfounded expression. Now, he understood why Hawks brought him in this mountainous area, especially in this dark place. From the very beginning, he had a plan to let him use the Dark Shadow until it reaches its limit.

"A-Are you serious, Hawks!?" Tsukuyomi exclaimed. "I, myself, do not even know how to control Dark Shadow when it goes on rampage. And I am not prepared-"

"How long are you going to excuse yourself like that, Tsukuyomi?" Hawks jeered, still maintaining his grin, then pulled out one of his feathers. It gradually transformed into a longer one like a sword. "I don't remember raising my intern into a scaredy-cat". His words made Tsukuyomi to shut his beak and cold sweat was felt upon him.

"I know you are nervous and anxious of using your Dark Shadow, especially in this dark place, but that is your quirk. You should master using your Dark Shadow. I know that your quirk went out of control during your Forest Training Camp in U.A. and injured your classmates, and that experience is really horrifying and traumatic. But-" he then pointed his feather blade towards his intern. "What if you are able to control Dark Shadow according to your will, hmm?"

Tsukuyomi twitched as if the words that Hawks gave it to him moved something that he was suppressing for a long time. Seeing his reaction, Hawks grinned then spread his arms. "I told you not to waste your potential, Tsukuyomi. With Dark Shadow, you will be able to protect more people, you can fight against stronger villains and you can also increase your quirk techniques!" Hawks then recognized the glimmer of realization in Tsukuyomi's eyes. "Like I've said it before, we are not meant to be confined in the ground. We have wings to fly even higher than others" he exclaimed, this time while raising his sword above his head.

"What was your school's motto again?"

"Plus Ultra" Tsukuyomi replied, filled with resolution. This made Hawks to smirk.

"But is it really, alright Hawks? Like what I've mention earlier, I barely control my Dark Shadow when it will go powerful. Just in case, do you have any idea how to stop my quirk when it goes rampage?" The younger asked for he was still dubious about this matter. Hawks just gave him a smile and rubbed behind his neck.

"Nope!" the mentor remarked with confidence.

Just like what Tsukuyomi expected, he had none. All he could do was sigh in exasperation.

"But relax and trust me, I won't be defeated that easily. Besides, I am more experienced and skilled than you"

That line piqued Tsukuyomi. Though it is a fact but still his mentor's attitude did not fail him to annoy him. "Then I will gladly accept this offer and use this opportunity to become a better hero!" he exclaimed then positioned himself into his fighting stance.

"Dark Shadow!" He exclaimed and instantly his quirk appeared before him. "Black abyss, Covert Black-Ops Arms!"

"Alright!" Dark Shadow thrilled for he is going to fight against Hawks.

That very moment, Dark Shadow wrapped the upper half of Tsukuyomi, while extending his both arms longer than before and attacked Hawks with great momentum. Hawks whistled in amusement as he witnessed his intern's technique.

"That's impressive, Tsukuyomi~" he drawled as he spread his red wings and flew skywards while avoiding all the sharp dark claws that is trying to grab him. "But-"

It happened all in an instant. For the first second, Tsukuyomi lose sight of Hawks, which stopped his movements for a brief moment; another second has past and this time he felt a great pressure in his gut which was impossible for him to contain. The strong pressure that hit Tsukuyomi and Dark Shadow eventually blew them straight inside the pitch-dark woods and hit their backs hard on one sturdy trunk of a tree.

Tsukuyomi gasped for air and wheezed in pain after coughing for several times. His shoulders convulse so much as he breathes and barely managed to stand with his two feet while leaning his back against the trunk he bumped into. Tsukuyomi was stunned, still unable to figure out how Hawks avoided all his attacks and even managed to blew him so far from their starting place. No wonder everyone will call him a hero who is 'too fast' for his age.

"That speed is insane!" Dark Shadow reacted after dusting himself. "I couldn't see his move!"

"Yeah, me either-" Tsukuyomi replied while crutching the trunk of the tree and covering his stomach where he got the blow from Hawks. That moment, both of them flinched when they felt a bloodlust just few meters away from their position. Unconsciously, the intern started to sweat due to pressure and fear.

"Ah, Tsukuyomi, I forgot to mention-" it was Hawks' voice. The leaves that crunches beneath his boots were heard simultaneously with his steps. "In this training, you must perceive me as a villain."

"What do you mean?" Tsukuyomi reacted without letting his guard down.

"I didn't sense any force from your previous attack. If you really want to defeat the villains before you and protect your comrades behind your back, you should pour your whole effort in every attack you will give. Or else-" Hawks then raised his winged-sword and spread his wings while the thin line of moonlight shone half of his serious expression and glistening his golden iris. "I am the one who will kill you first-"

With that, even before Tsukuyomi can prepare himself, Hawks was already in front of him then he swung his winged-sword attempting to hit the intern's face. The younger barely managed to block his attack with the help of Dark Shadow and jumped back with a wish to make a distance between him and his mentor. But Hawks isn't that kind.

Perceiving Tsukuyomi's intention, he raised a bit of his speed then gave his continuous slashes towards his intern. Tsukuyomi, on the other hand, immediately commanded Dark Shadow to activate his technique he used a while ago, which made him somehow to manage to block all the slashes he is receiving from his mentor.

"Are you just planning to defend all my attacks?! Use your quirk, Tsukuyomi! This area is your field, isn't it!?" Hawks exclaimed then stepped on Dark Shadow's arm in attempt to use as a platform for him to fly upwards. Since the trees were so tall, it was also a great battle field for Hawks too.

Tsukuyomi did his very best not to lose his eyes on Hawks but when the moment he looked skywards, shock overtook him when he saw that Hawks have already spread several feathers of his wings, around 30 deadly-looking red feathers were pointing towards him.

"I told you, Tsukuyomi. In this era, speed is everything." He said with his low-voice and without giving a moment for the younger to process his mind, he dropped his feathers straight towards Tsukuyomi with a speed faster than Dark Shadow's previous claw attack.

"The moment you hesitate is the moment your life will end-"
