Chapter 2: Harry Learns the Truth
Harry woke in what was once the guest bedroom. A few days ago, it had been reassigned it was now his room. Harry thought back to the day everything had changed. He had woken in this very room, next to him was a sleeping woman. She had woken and explain she was a nurse at the school his parents had attended in the youth. What she told him next was the craziest thing Harry had ever heard. He was a wizard. She had called an eccentric looking old man that reminded him of Merlin that identified himself as Albus Dumbledore, the Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
He told him the tale of how his parents had been murdered by a dark wizard named Lord Voldemort. About how a piece of the man's soul had been lodged in his scar. That it was it that had caused his family to treat him so horribly. Albus had him get dressed in new clothes that were purchased for him. A nicely fitting dark green v neck and a pair of brown cargo shorts. After getting dressed Harry followed the Headmaster downstairs to the kitchen where he was immediately hugged and checked by his Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon. It was a strange occurrence for him, and further confusing was when his family apologized for the way he was treated.
Throughout the day Harry met what he learned was his other guardians who recently took responsibility of him. Madam Bones, the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, he quickly learned was a very stern and strict woman. She would be the one taking care of all the legal aspects of his care. She was currently trying to get his parents will unsealed. It had sealed itself when one of the beneficiaries was unable to be present. A man named Sirius Black, she had believed it was due to him being incarcerated for the betrayal of the Potters as well as the murder of Peter Pettigrew and thirteen unsuspecting muggles. Upon research though she found that he wasn't incarcerated until a day after the will was supposed to be read, what she couldn't find was a trial transcript. Which lead to the discovery that shocked both herself and the Minister, Sirius Black had never received a trial. None of this was told to Harry just yet. Instead he was introduced to the Minster of Magic Cornelius Fudge. He was responsible to ensure that no unsavory characters contested for guardianship of Harry.
Harry also met those who would be his professors when he started Hogwarts. Professor Minerva McGonagall, she was also a stern woman who apparently taught a subject called Transfiguration. Professor Severus Snape, a man who at first scared Harry taught Potions and he later learned was the best friend of his mother.
Their meeting was very memorable to those around them.
Snape had entered the family room with his robes billowing behind them.
Upon spotting the boy he instantly saw him as a clone of his father, until he saw his eyes. His eyes reminded him of his dearest Lily.
"Harry this is Professor Severus Snape, he will be teaching you potions once you begin Hogwarts in a few years. He was also very close friends with your mother in his youth." said his Aunt Petunia.
"Good Afternoon, Mister Potter." Severus said with a dark look shot at Petunia.
"Can you tell me about my mummy, please" pleaded the young boy. Harry had completely disregarded everything else about the man upon knowing he knew his mother.
With a painful look in his eyes, Severus told him many wonderful stories of his mother. Ever so slowly Harry had begun to defrost Snape's cold heart. The look of adoration on his face was endearing to everyone but the Potions Master who wasn't sure how to take it.

The days proceeded in the same manner. Harry would wake up in his new bedroom, take a series of potions that Madam Pomfrey had left him. Some were to help stabilize his core, others to help repair all the damage the horcrux had caused, and the last a nutrient potion to get him back to normal after the malnutrition. He would go downstairs and eat breakfast with his family. Dudley had been ecstatic he had a friend in his cousin. They would spend the morning playing or watching tv. After lunch one of his guardians would come see how he was doing. Once his Uncle Vernon came home all the adults would go into the family room and talk. Sending the kids upstairs to play in what was once Dudley's playroom now shared by them both.
They were currently playing with Harrys new toy soldiers playing war when it happened. Harry had just stated his plan to bombard Dudley's base camp when the soldiers in question exploded. Covering himself with his arms a shield was produced in front of both him and his cousin.
The adults rushed to the room and found the room destroyed by the explosion with the boys unharmed shaking in terror. Pomfrey was called and after a quick spell, the boys were given full bill of health. She informed them that Harrys core had settled. Harry had just gone through his first magical growth, usually seen at eleven. He had gone through his four years early, which meant he would need to be taught magic. They sent a letter to Ollivander, Harry was getting a wand.

It was two days after the explosion when a knock was heard. At the door Garrick Ollivander stood with the Headmaster. In the family room the adults convened with the three Dursleys sitting on the couch and the other five adults sat in conjured chairs along the wall. In the center of it sat Ollivander in one chair while Harry sat in the other. Between them was a trunk that Ollivander had produced from a pocket and enlarged.
"Now Mister Potter you have been given a very big responsibility." Said Amelia, or Aunt Amy as Harry had started referring to her as.
"You see Harry children are normally granted a wand at eleven, but due to your accident you need one sooner. Therefore, I have signed a ministerial decree granting you the use of one." Said the Minster, (Harry called him Uncle Fudge, since he couldn't pronounce Cornelius)
"There is one other thing Harry, your wand, well it won't have the Trace." Stated Albus "We as the Head of DMLE, the Minister, and myself as the Chief Warlock, have granted you the right to do magic outside of school. I hope you understand the trust we are placing in you my boy. With that trust comes responsibility."
With that Ollivander opened his truck. It opened to revel multiple thin long boxes, in each box was a wand Harry would test. One by one Harry attempted to find a match. Some pulled from his hand before even a chance to wave. Others causing comical damage to the room, quickly fixed by the adults.
After about an hour of testing wands Ollivander pulled the final box out giving it to Harry it had a peculiar reaction. It seemed to want to bond with the boy but could not.
"Curious, very Curious" said Ollivander.
"What's curious Garrick," asked Dumbledore.
"Well it seems the wand needs to be modified to bond, but you see the core is what is special. It has a feather of your phoenix Albus. As you know it gave only one other. Its brother gave Harry his scar. It appears that it will need to be modified to be a perfect fit." Ollivander was excited evident in the way he said the last statement.
The adults were shocked, they had never heard of a wand needing to be modified.
Ollivander produced a second trunk opening it with a wave. It opened into multiple tiers, some with jars full every part available for magical cores; some with blocks of wood, and the last with what appeared to be a place to work with different tools and equipment.
"Now Mr. Potter close your eyes and see if you feel any kind of connection to something here"
Harry closed his eyes with abated breath everyone watched waiting to see what happened. Moments pass with nothing occurring when slowly three things slowly rose from different tiers. From the wooden blocks a piece of Aspen rose; another a jar containing what appeared to be blood; the last contained a single heartstring.
"Marvelous, simply marvelous" stated a gleeful Ollivander
"The piece of wood is Aspen, known for its outstanding charm work it is also the wood used in wands of outstanding duelers. Paired with the Holley will make you a very powerful duelist. Now the blood is quite special you see it's the blood of a Griffin, the heartstring is also special it is the last heartstring of the most dangerous dragon known to wizard kind, that of the most dangerous Hungarian Horntail to ever live. It took sixty full grown wizards to defeat it. These two cores combined with the phoenix feather will make you a very powerful wizard indeed. I can safely say that we can expect great things from you Mr. Potter." Ollivander said this in an almost prophetic way.
Everyone watched in awe as with concentration Ollivander caused the wand to open, out floated the phoenix feather, with a flick the two woods twisted around each other creating a spiraling design. Above the feather floated, joining it in the air the heartstring wrapped itself around the feather, the blood rose coating the two with another flick the core was housed inside the wood. With a small fountain of sparks the wand sealed.
Ollivander plucked it out of the air turning it he inspected it from all angles. Satisfied he handed it to Harry. As soon as Harry held it a fountain of multicolored sparks came from it with it every imperfection in the house repaired itself. A small crack in the wall sealed itself. The discolored trunks looked brand new. Everyone sat in shock at the display of powerful magic.
"I believe you are right Mr. Ollivander; We can definitely expect great things from Harry."
Everyone nodded in mute agreement. It was clear to everyone in the room Harry would indeed be a great powerful wizard.
