Izuku's mother woke up an hour later, her loud sobs seemed to be her way of reprimanding. Although her anger and concern was warranted, judging that he had been missing for almost three days. He doubted it took him that long to wander the cave system and find the Thorn, so maybe he had blackout when he had touched it. That seemed to the most likely conclusion, even the doctors agreed, saying that his unconscious body had been found where the Thorn rested. Everyone in the room seemed to looked at the red need-like object with extreme caution. The child could understand somewhat, as the unknown was rather scary, just like when quirks started to appear two hundred years ago or when he first got rid of his night light.
The doctors told him to keep his hydration up by drinking water and to eat any food he received slowly- so he wouldn't puke it up within the hour. He obeyed without question, as a child his age would. He drank a bottle of water almost every half hour and ate his meals with a slow speed. His mother watched him eat, her fingers wrapped tightly around his own, as if he would disappear at any moment. The hospital food tasted rather plain in comparison to his own mothers homemade cooking, but he still ate it, as Izuku knew he needed to supply his body with nutrients. The Thorn continued to float, its aura strong and comforting, as if a silent shoulder to lean on. After he finished his dinner, his mother hesitantly asked what was on her mind.
"What that... thing, Izuku dear?" The child wasted no time in answering, explaining about the silhouette who had gifted him the Thorn. He even decided to show her a baang, although he didn't turn it into any element, for fear she'll reprimanded his recklessness, but at last, reprimand him she did. Although, not without tears- lots of tears. Sure Izuku felt guilty about upsetting his mother but he had a power now.
Shouldn't she be happy. He could become a hero now. Child-like frustration clouded his judgement, he didn't think that his mother had been almost frightened to death when they found him unconscious with a strange object floating above him. He held almost no consideration for her own feelings when he awoke and focused entirely on himself.
He had been clouded by child-like selfishness instead of trying to ease his mother's worries, because in her mind, the Thorn was s potential travesty waiting to happen. The bond between them was weakened after her admonishment and Izuku asked her to leave. She didn't rebut, too shocked to make comprehensible words. He had always relied on her, always seemed her approval and she gladly gave it but the anger in his emerald eyes was white hot. She left, but not with out final look.
Izuku rested back into his bed, his eyes closing and falling asleep.
Izuku was discharged from the hospital a day later, his tests had came back and he was perfectly healthy. As he walked out the door in silence with his mother, the nurses and doctors seemed to sigh in relief. Their eyes looking upon the red needle-like object that floated just above his shoulder. The mother and son pair entered the white subaru that they called their car. The atmosphere within the car was tense and Izuku's silence broke his mother's heart. She turned the ignition and the car rolled out of the car park.
It took no less than fifteen minutes to retuned the apartment complex they called home. Izuku's mother parked the car in the resident parking and followed Izuku towards their apartment, her emerald eyes wavered between her son and the Thorn. The child pulled out a key and turned it to the left, a satisfying click was the reward for his efforts. He entered and his mother followed.
"Izuku, what would you like for dinner?" It was a question that she would receive to answer, as her offspring went into his room. Closing the door softly behind him, it seemed that Izuku did not want to talk and his mother could only looked at the door sadly, tears threatening to leak from her eyes. She walked towards her room, giving Izuku's green door one last look before she too, locked herself in the comfort of her own room.
As Izuku closed his door, he started to train, knowing that he only had two years at best to become good enough with shinsoo to make it to Yuuei. He'll prove his mother wrong! He'll definitely become a hero and save everyone! The child held out his palm, his eyes narrowing in his anger, he willed shinsoo to form a baang in his palm. He needed it to be big, bigger than any baang he had formed beforehand.
The Thorn once again alit with power, the edges moving like wild flames, shinsoo formed into a baang, the blue substance swirling like a whirlpool. It was about the same size as before hand- it hadn't changed at all. Disappointed, but yet not giving up, Izuku willed the baang to become bigger.
"I need you to become bigger, so I can prove everyone wrong and become a hero that saves everyone," he had started to perspire, but the baang seemed to obey his command, as if it had listened. It had become bigger by about an inch, not a drastic improvement, but yet it filled Izuku's heart with satisfaction. Although the child knew that he could only control this much shinsoo in such a short amount of time was because of the Thorn.
One of Enryu's powers that laid within the Thorn was the ability to control shinsoo with ease, so maybe the speed of his growth when the red needle-like object was activated had been increased. Although he would say that controlling this much shinsoo wasn't easy, not by a long shot, but maybe he could get used to the art of controlling it. He could become stronger and that thought alone made Izuku smiled with pure happiness.
He continued to practice until late in the night, the moon's light seemed to be reflected off of the baang and the Thorn. Maybe he could use the shinsoo within the baang as a projectile, as without a command, it seemed to just float aimlessly near his personal. Although he wouldn't dare test it out within the boundaries of civilisation. He might destroy the entirety of the apartment complex! That was a horrid thought and the amount of yen he would have to pay for reconstruction and compensation would be unimaginable. Izuku's only goal for now is to increase the size of his baang and he wouldn't let anyone stop him from achieving that.
