Welcome to Charlottetown. Here, it seems that everyone is either a slave, a scapegoat, or both.
These are the docks. A lot of interesting boats are moored here.
Meet Declan McDonough. He wears gloves, and punches a bag. He's got a lot of emotion to spew. Some people just can't make things easy for him...
Such a person admires him, from the sidelines. Her name is Nicole. From what Declan's heard, she makes good grades in language and literature studies.
She's small-bodied, blonde, and short-haired. Her chest is flat. Somehow, Declan feels uneasy when she's around. He's like an elephant to a mouse...if elephants are actually afraid of mice.
"So," she asks him, "when you punch that bag...what are you trying to accomplish?"
Declan takes a breather. "In the short-term, nothing. In the long-term, I hope it makes me too tired to fight anyone in real life." He keeps punching.
"THIS isn't real life? You DO know that you're aboard a ship?"
"I'm sorry," he stops again. "Do you really think that it's scientifically possible for guys to advance themselves with bliss and peace? Our mothers have been begging for us to since birth. We haven't made progress yet, and we never will." He shakes his head, and keeps punching. "Seriously, girl; how mysterious do you think we are?"
She shrugs. "I don't think you're mysterious."
He scoffs. "Yeah. And I don't think you're cute." He keeps punching.
Nicole gapes...and almost smiles. "You...think I'm cute?"
"I didn't say that, did I?" He keeps punching.
Through a hatch nearby, Hilary, the slut of Nicole's and Declan's generation, makes a slutty entrance. She gawks, and femininely codepends Declan in his masculine outbursts. He reacts by punching the bag even harder than before.
Nicole slithers into the shadows, and sighs. Declan CLEARLY cares more about Hilary...
Both girls scream when Declan punches the bag across the room, and breaks a porthole. Nicole gapes. Hilary does too...but only for a moment. She laughs out loud.
Aggressively, Declan picks up another punching bag, hangs it, and goes back to what he was doing. Nicole's got no idea how he does it...
From aft, Bosun Wolner comes, to investigate the noise. He sees the shattered glass, and seems to overreact.
Nicole makes a move to accommodate for Declan. But Hilary beats her to it, of course. She flirts, and calms him down. Nicole sighs, and slithers back into the shadows.
She disembarks, and creeps back down the wharf. Sometimes it feels like she'll never correct the mental problems of this town...
