A few weeks has gone by since the discovery of Hell and the invasion of demons that have swept across Sentinel Prime. The Night Sentinels struggle to contain this threat and Valen did hope of claiming the lost city of Telorum from the demons. The Outlander, Doomguy, continues to join every expedition into the front lines and continues to battle against the demons with no rest and no break. Everytime he goes out there, he returns with only surviving sentinels to tell his tale of his heroic and barbaric way. But while they continue the campaign, they still have no idea what is hiding out there.
Inside the city of Telorum, the demon; the Archdemon, wielding incredible power to control the demons and could bring terrifying torment to those who are still alive. He revels in death and watches people suffer. One thing he does enjoy is turning the strong-willed fighters into something they would be force to murder others. Blessed by his masters, the Archdemon could corrupt and transform a human into a demon, namely a Baron of Hell or a Hell Knight by mutating their bodies, evolved the specimen into something that would prove useful against the Night Sentinels.
Far away, outside the city of Telorum, the Night Sentinels finally got the sight of the city, which has succumb to serious demonic threat. What they do not realise is that the real threat lies within, a Gore Nest that has already been complete and slowly getting bigger to take the form of a Super Gore Nest. The more bodies they bring, the more it will grow and spawn more demons that could overrun the entire valley and spread to Sentinel Prime. The city has already succumb to chaos, as the citizens panic when demons such as the Gargoyles arrive in the night, attacking the people and leaving with body parts with them. There have been signs of Cacodemons and a dozen more Gargoyles and small fries, but the guards have been trying to take care of them. The demons did already laid siege to another city, forced another general and a bigger army of Night Sentinels to move in and intercept, only to lose half the army and force to retreat to Sentinel Prime.
Back in the forest, Valen sits besides Doomguy and the rest of the twelve hundred Night Sentinel force beside him. They took a break after finally clearing further than before, thanks to the Outlander that continues to amaze them, even Valen was still surprise at everything they went through. He still wields the Super Shotgun as his main weapon, while the BFG-9000 took a break for a few days and got a new design, thanks to the forge master who wishes to inspect it and try to merge Sentinel technology with Wraith power to restore the ammo for the BFG. That was not the only thing they did, the Night Sentinels got some new weapons to be use against the demons, weapons that are energy projectile weapons that they have discard in the past. Most of the army still use the regular spears, shields, swords and axes, while the rest keep with new weapons like the Lightning Gun, Rocket Launcher that shoots a bluish projectile explosives and an energy rifle that shoot blue energy, as well as an energy blade as a bayonet.
Back with Valen and Doomguy, both sit together and drink together, with Doomguy taking off his helmet to relax for once. Valen replies "You seem to show a serious grudge against these so called demons. What have they done to you?"
"They took something so precious to me long ago." Doomguy replies "Now I have to kill them all."
"Such an impossible crusade you have there. You think you can defeat the armies of Hell all by yourself?"
Doomguy looks back to him and replies with a straight face "Yes."
"General!" The two sentinel scouts rushes into the camp and approaches the two. Both Valen and Doomguy rise up off the ground to hear this. "The monsters are making something in there. We saw those things bringing bodies inside the city."
"They're building a Gore Nest." Doomguy replies
"You know of this?" Valen looks back at him
"It spawns more demons. We need to destroy it first."
"Then the plan has changed." Valen walks with Doomguy and the other Night Sentinels to this auto-map. It displays the entire environment around them and they use it to examine the entire city of Telorum. "Full frontal assault could be the only option, but there are ways for us to get inside." Valen zooms in and changes the map to show the interior of the tunnels underneath it. "We can send a strike team through the tunnels, attack from underneath and destroy this Gore Nest."
"You really going to trust this entire operation on the Outlander?" One sentinel asks
"We've all seen what he can do and what he wants." Valen replies "He has no reason to betray us. His intention against the demons are the same as us and we can't leave with the city under the demons control." Valen looks back at Doomguy "Will you do this?"
Doomguy nods "I will." Then puts on his helmet and holds onto his Super Shotgun with both hands.
Valen leads his army out of the forest and onto the main field, but further away from the horde in Telorum. As soon as he was ready, he looks back to send in four Behemoths, large beasts that inhabit Sentinel Prime and use as both support and artillery. They are the size of a Tyrant, much more muscular and carry armour plating across their body, as well as two cannons on their backs. They lean forward to press their hands against the ground, charge up the cannons and begins firing a volley of blue energy balls over the valley and into the city. The incoming volley did major damage to the buildings and also did serious damage to the demons. Many perish from the volley and forces the rest of them to come out of the city and engage the Night Sentinels on open field.
"Here they come…" Valen replies and holds onto his large hammer at the ready. He looks back to the others "Fire another volley."
"Fire!"
The Behemoths would fire two more volleys over the valley and annihilate more demons. As soon as they are ready, Valen gives the signal to charge and sent his army charging straight against the demonic horde. The three rows of the frontline was all spearmen, while the rest at the back are all wielding different type of weapons and those carrying advance weaponry, remain somewhere in the middle and those with the rifles would disperse from the sides to engage the demons to spread them out. Both sides charge in a relentless assault with everything they had, but while the Night Sentinels keep together, the demons spread out and had many gaps within the ranks, which was good for them. On the middle of the valley, both armies finally clash with heavy beating on both sides. The spearmen broke through the gaps and the rest of the army follow through, with Valen charging in and swinging his hammer at an incoming Hell Knight in front of him.
Meanwhile, Doomguy joins thirty other men found the entrance into the sewers. Thankfully, it is not overflowing and they have a chance to move through without getting caught. These men beside Doomguy carry swords that could pierce through strong defence like a Pinky or a Baron, while the rest wore proper weaponry like the rifles and the Lightning Guns. Doomguy keeps his Super Shotgun by his side, but as soon as one of them falls, he will take their gun to continue the fight.
Back on the battlefield, things got pretty tense while both sides hit each other with everything they got. The demons did had fewer numbers than the army, but they have done serious devastating to the army, despite having the numbers and equip with better weapons. Very soon, more demons from far away or spawn inside the city would join the fight to help drive them back. The two Archviles from the city would begin channelling more demons, buff their strength and aggressive to help kill more sentinels before they perish in battle.
While the Archdemon stands and watches the battle from a far, Doomguy and the rest of the Night Sentinels beside him, made it on the surface in a quiet fashion, but as more demons keep spawning, Doomguy had to move in position with the BFG-9000 on targeting the Gore Nest that he could see from a far. The Gore Nest was in a medium state, capable of spawning twice as much as before and it will spawn more if it remains like this. The other Night Sentinels get in position, quickly killing the walking corpses around the area and hoping the demons do not recognise them when they sneak around. However, as more demons start spawning, they would smell the flesh of these men and would turn around to see them standing behind them. One of them screeches before losing a head and causing the rest to turn around in a bloody rage.
The Archdemon turns around to find Night Sentinels here, but what shocks him the most was seeing Doomguy himself, standing among these men here. "…NO…."
The BFG-9000 got a refill of ammo from the Night Sentinels, but got a different change on the design and power. Instead of firing a green energy ball that annihilates everything, it only sends a blue blast of liquid towards the target and melts everything on contact. Doomguy did not like this at all, but it was enough for him to fire it straight at the Gore Nest, melted it to pieces and causing a small explosion that causes that portal that was floating above it to close. As soon as the Gore Nest was gone, no more demons could spawn here, except for the Archviles that begin engaging the incoming attackers.
One man shot the Archvile with the Lightning Gun, making it stagger for a big with the electricity flowing through the body, but it fires back with a blast of fire to incinerate the man. The others try to engage the demons, with one Prowler teleporting behind one of them to claw his back and an Imp tackling one man with a rifle to the ground, but took a blade through the chest. Another tries to engage the second Archvile, only for it to suddenly escape and teleport itself somewhere nearby and begin creating more demons. Doomguy saw this, so he fires his BFG towards it, melted the Archvile until there was nothing left and also melt the wall behind it.
The Archdemon was furious to witness the Doom Marine standing here and ruining everything. He drew this red, curved sword that wad dripping the blood of the fallen, as well as a chain with a sharp hook at the end of it. One sentinel thought of charging towards him, only to fail bad when he wraps the hook and chain around his neck, pulled him in to decapitate it.
"I'll deal with him." Doomguy replies to the others "Go kill that asshole." He looks over to the Archvile that escapes and moves further away to let the cannon fodder attack the Night Sentinels.
Doomguy switches to the Super Shotgun, blasted a few demons in front of him, reloads and quickly rolls to the side to avoid an incoming swing from the Archdemon. After the roll, he aims his gun towards him, blasted a chunk of the side of his face when he turns his head towards him and looks away after the blast. He slowly turns his head back to Doomguy to show the damage, seeing his face furious, while losing half the skin off his face.
The Archdemon threw his chain around the leg of Doomguy and pulls back to send him collapsing to the floor. He then jumps up to drive his sword through his chest, but Doomguy rolls to the side to send that sword through the ground. Doomguy turns back, aims his Super Shotgun and close of blowing his arm off, but he saw it on time, knocks the front of the barrel away from him to make it shoot over his body. He ditches his sword and chain, grabs Doomguy and throws him across the area and smacking against a building. Doomguy gets up off the ground, notices the Archdemon picking up his Super Shotgun he drop and was examining it.
"The weapon that killed thousands…" The Archdemon drops the gun onto the floor and was ready to stomp on it to finish it.
Doomguy rushes in, grabs the Archdemon around his waist and pushes him back in hope of sending him to the ground so he could beat the hell out of him. That fail when he finally got his footing, stops Doomguy's push and just knees him to the chest, grab his shoulder to make him face straight and lay a punch to his abs. He moves to the side, while throwing Doomguy away from him and returns to collect his chain, this time he ignites it in flames. Doomguy crouches down where he was, quickly takes out the BFG-9000 and fires one last round towards him. The Archdemon moves out of the way, loses his chain and decides to create a red fireball in his hand to throw it at him, which he succeeds on knocking Doomguy back on the ground.
The Archdemon approaches Doomguy, ignites both his arms in red flames and ready to lay the hurt on him, while he rises back up off the ground, like he was ready for more fighting. As he got close to swing his right hand down at him, Doomguy ducks and rolls past him, collapses on the ground to grab the Super Shotgun. The Archdemon raise both hands up to form a cross in front of him to let his arms take the incoming shrapnel that pierces his flesh.
Doomguy lowers his gun and replies "You're a dead man now."
The Archdemon lowers his arms and notice the Night Sentinels that finally took care of the last Archvile finally steps in and tries to surround him. He also begins to notice the battle outside was getting closer towards the front gate, looked back to notice some Night Sentinels have already made it through and would get things very troublesome for him if they surround him. Irritated at this defeat, he growls when turning his head back towards Doomguy and the two stare at one another for a while.
"The others will come for you." The Archdemon said and raise his right hand up to point at Doomguy "Either I kill you here, or they will kill you."
Doomguy reloads the Super Shotgun and replies "Whatever comes my way, I'm going to kill every last one of them."
The Archdemon shout out and throws a red fireball at Doomguy. Doom rushes towards him, places his Super Shotgun on his back, bends his upper body to the side to avoid the fireball and moves to the side to avoid the next fireball. Doomguy got close enough to lay a right punch across his face and the Archdemon quickly blocks his left punch with his right flaming hand, expected that this would happen, so he takes the Super Shotgun, shot him right in the face before he had a chance to stop him. The Archdemon collapses with his head finally blown off, lays dead on the ground until eventually he disintegrates to nothing. With him no more, the demons that have been spawning nearby in the background for the Night Sentinels to fight, vanished all the sudden, while the rest of them are battling with Valen until they all lay dead.
Victory was finally here for the Night Sentinels and a death from a fallen commander in the Hell's army, thanks to the Doom Marine. After that, Valen and the Night Sentinels could finally stick their banner on top of the wall to show everyone that the enemy is no more. However, Doomguy and Valen could tell that this is just the beginning of the Unholy War. They remain here for a week, help secure the area and Valen gave Doomguy permission to take a handful of men across the region to help slay any signs of demons. They manage to kill twenty seven demons, but lost half a quarter of the entire group and only several Night Sentinels returns with Doomguy to tell the tale of their adventure. As soon as they arrive, they found a floating fortress near the city of Telorum. A blue gateway opens up nearby, bringing a handful of soldiers into the scene to help deliver some new orders from the hierarchs. Doomguy arrives just on time with the others to hear that they are pulling out of Telorum, but they must leave their army behind to help reinforce the area and bring those who cannot fight anymore onto the fortress. Valen accepts and so he sends forty Night Sentinels into the portal to recover inside the floating fortress. He calls Doomguy to enter the fortress with him and redirect the teleporter to send the two to another location that Doomguy has not been yet.
Elsewhere in the dungeons of the Blood Arena, the Khan Maykr witness the demons for her eyes to see. She and the three Deag Priests watch as several type of demons, captured by Night Sentinels during their patrols, but lost many during the capture operations and was enough for them to examine them. They witness them throwing fireballs and try to learn as much as they can from these type of demons, namely the Imps and fail to capture a Baron of Hell.
"What an interesting sight." The Khan Maykr replies when examining the Imp on throwing a fireball at the shield "It possess strange magical powers within it. Fascinating."
"The men tried to apprehend live subjects for us." Deag Ranak replies "They served their purpose here."
"They wield such strange magic powers." Deag Nilox said and looks to Deag Grav "What do you think?"
"I've been looking into it lately and I've discovered that the Outlander that came before us, gifted us a strange relic that I've been trying to figure out. It took longer than I thought, but this talisman wields power that matches Wraith power."
"A newly power source." Khan Maykr mutters and turns to the Deag Priests "You know what must be done. Learn as much as you can about this power they wield. I wish to know more about this power source they wield and if it could benefit us all."
"This shall be done, your grace." Deag Ranak speaks up and bows his head to the Maykr, before she soon disappears.
Deag Ranak looks to the others and said "But you know, the requirement of such magic will result in entering their domain."
"We have the power here." Deag Grav said "The talisman could help us unlock it. Give me time and I'll have everything I need before confronting the king about this."
Elsewhere, Valen and Doomguy arrives at Exultia, one of the largest cities in Sentinel Prime and home to King Novik that rules over the entire Night Sentinels. It is here that the king wishes to bring his generals to his throne room to discuss this incoming threat that is spreading across other major places across the land.
Valen and Doomguy arrive out of a portal to find two lines of twelve Night Sentinels standing on the sides of the road ahead of them. When they got closer, they quickly turn towards one another and held their spears straight, as a welcoming tradition to high officials like Valen.
"Welcome to Exultia." Valen said to Doomguy when they walk past the group of sentinels "This is where I was born. Where I raised my children."
After walking past the others, three Night Sentinels approaches Valen and Doomguy. One of them happens to be his son, Aiden. He took off his helmet and greets his father in open arms.
"Welcome back, father."
"Good to be back." Valen steps back from him and Aiden looks at Doomguy.
"You must be the Outlander. Wow, I mean… I saw your match in the Blood Arena, truly amazing." Aiden lend his hand out for a handshake. Doomguy shakes his hand with a strong grip against his "… That's quite a handshake." Aiden lets go and steps back from the two.
"What are the news around the city?" Valen asks
"We've stopped any signs of panicking in the streets so that's fine… But outside is bad. One of the cities in the north of here has fallen, so a strike team on a fortress is moving there to claim it back. We've lost contact with them so I don't know if they succeeded or not."
"These things are a nightmare." Doomguy replies and closes his hands to form a fist. "They never learn a damn thing."
"I've heard you took back the city." Aiden looks back to Doomguy "How many demons have you killed out there?"
"I never keep track at the pile of bodies I made." Doomguy said "All I care about is how much I want to rip them a part right now."
"I… See… Speaking of nightmare…" Aiden looks behind them and notices someone coming out of the portal "Here comes your ultra-nightmare."
All three of them look back to see another general coming out of the gate. This was a female, wearing full body armour that shares a similar design and same colour as the Night Sentinels wear, except a more feminine design. Her helmet was a similar design of the Slayer's future helmet of the Praetor Suit. She also carries a longsword in her left hand and the Lightning Gun over her right shoulder with her right hand.
"Serena…"
"Lord Commander." Serena nods to Valen and looks at Doomguy for a moment "So this is the Outlander I've heard about." Her eyes under the visor looks down at his combat armour and looks back at him "Thought you'd be taller."
"This is Doom." Valen replies and looks to Doomguy "And this is Serena. My daughter."
"Hmm."
"Good to see you well, sister." Aidan replies
"Likewise, but address as my rank next time."
"What's the status on your position out there?" Valen asks
"The king would nice to know the report. I'm not going to repeat myself to you." Serena walks past him, bumps her arm against the Outlander when she went past him and goes straight into the interior.
Doomguy looks back and watches her depart with the Night Sentinels beside her.
"She's always been like that when she became a general." Aiden replies and watches her leave. He looks back to Valen "You should join her."
"I know. We'll talk later tonight after the meeting." Valen said to Aiden
"Understood father." Aiden turns back and takes his leave
"Let's go." Valen said to Doomguy "King Novik would want to see you too."
And so the two depart from the area and enter the interior of Exultia. Inside they walk through the crowd of citizens and soldiers moving through, with some of them stopping and staring back at the Outlander and his gear. During the walk through, they meet up with Serena and the other generals of the Night Sentinels, as well as the Deag Priests. Before going to the throne room, Doomguy must relinquish his arsenal of guns and will return to him later. He did resist this order, but was force to give up his beautiful weapons and will be taken to the forge master in Exultia. Doomguy joins them all on entering the throne room where they meet with King Novik that sits on his throne and looking back at them. When they came through, they notice a red, hooded figure floating out of the room, after he was done talking to the king and departs from the meeting. Doomguy watches him leave, notice these red tentacles coming from the bottom of his robes and cannot see his face under the hood. While he leaves, Doomguy faces forward, looks back at the king and notices him looking back at him.
With the meeting preparing to begin, Serena would be the first to step forward to begin the report on the battle outside this city. She removes her helmet, showing her short messy brown hair and holds onto her helmet in her left hand and against her left waist. She stands in the middle of the room, looking back to the king.
"We've defeated the horde that was gathering just outside of Ardur. They were much stronger than we anticipated and had this totem." She raise her right hand up to show this long, bone-like object with a skull in the middle on both sides, two curve spikes at the end of it. "This totem made the monsters stronger and more aggressive. I lost hundreds of people just to get close to this and broke it in two. The power was gone when I destroyed it."
"An object from there realm…" Deag Ranak steps closer to lend his hand out to Serena "May I?"
Serena hands over the object and looks back to King Novik "The enemy threat was neutralise, but the flying creatures remain an obstacle."
"I see… You've done well out there. You have served the order, despite being the youngest member from the others."
Serena bows and replies "Thank you, milord." She then stands straight and walks to the side to stand with the others.
"We seem to be losing more troops against the monsters." One of the generals replies "We've held them back, but there's no way of stopping them from coming here."
"We've already been looking into this." Deag Ranak replies "The will of the Khan Maykr will deliver us hope against these monsters in due time."
"People are dying out there! We need a solution now."
"That's enough." King Novik raise his voice and turns his head towards Valen "General Valen. Step forward."
Valen approaches the middle of the room, goes down on one knee before rising up and stands with his hands behind his back. "We've taken the city of Telorum. After the long week of pushing through the forest, we've finally seize control of the city and eliminated the threat within before it was too late."
"It started from there, correct? How did they get there?"
"We've encounter a human who stands among the monsters inside the city." Valen replies "He could have been responsible, but he's dead, so all we've learn from them is that they were using the bodies of the fallen to create this object of flesh and blood. This object was creating more of them from their world."
"And is this the Outlander I've heard about?" King Novik asks and turns towards Doomguy "I've heard of this man survived from the Blood Arena and brought into battle by your consent."
"Yes. The Outlander; Doom, help break the siege and destroyed the monsters. He knows what they are and loves killing them."
"Do you truly trust him?" King Novik asks
"I trust him completely. He has slain so many of these monsters and could be the perfect weapon against them." Valen takes a step forward to King Novik when saying this "With your permission, I wish to help train this man and offer him a place in the Night Sentinel ranks."
"You can't be serious." Said one of the generals and steps forward to intervene, while everyone else was muttering to one another. This Night Sentinel wore a green colour armour that expose his abs, the side of his chest and his back. He wore a helmet that covers his whole face except for his eyes and carries a mighty war axe on his back that creates a light bluish energy when drawn out.
"General Silas…"
"He is not one of us." Silas replies and turns his head towards Doomguy "He could be the reason behind all of this. All sentinel blood is on his hands!"
Doomguy steps forward to get in on this argument, but someone that stood beside him, grabs his shoulder to stop him from causing something that he would regret. Valen interjects "He has survived the judgement in the Blood Arena! He has the strength to battle against the demons by himself, so with him on our side we can drive them back."
"You've gone too old for this, Valen." Silas replies "This Outlander should be with the rest of the commoners."
"If you got a problem with me, then let's take this in the arena." Doomguy replies, shoves the hand of the general that held his shoulder and takes two more steps.
"How dare you address me like that?" Silas takes two more steps towards him "You are not one of us."
"Enough!" King Novik interjects and looks towards the general for a moment before looking back to Doomguy "Step forward."
Valen steps to the side, Silas takes two steps back to stand with the others and watch Doomguy steps in the middle to look back at the king. King Novik replies "Outlander, you have won your freedom from the Blood Arena and deemed worthy of the success you have performed for the Night Sentinels. All I ask is what your intention of coming to Sentinel Prime? What is your goal here?"
"My goal?" Doomguy smirks and lowers his head a bit down. He looks back at him and smiles "I came here by accident. All I want is to just kill demons."
King Novik smirks "Outlander. Tell me your name."
"My name is lost… I am Doom."
"A name gifted from the demons I bet. Well then, in order to prove your allegiance to the order, you will be put into the frontlines with the rest of the Night Sentinels. You will continue to bring the fight to them until you lose the will to fight anymore."
"I'll never lose the will to fight." Doomguy said "Just send me back out there and I'll kill them all."
King Novik smiles and looks to everyone "This Outlander, Doom, has deemed worthy of the success he has performed out in the Blood Arena and on the battlefield. General Valen will supervise him until further notice."
"Milord… This has never happened before." Said one of the nearby generals "This is going against our tradition."
"There are times that there will be exceptional ones who could stand in the order. He is the only one here who knows who we are facing and is our chance of striking back against the horde." King Novik replies.
Suddenly, out of the blue, the Khan Maykr appears in the middle of the room and got Doomguy to move out of the way to look back at this yellowish hologram of the Khan Maykr. She floats there looking back at King Novik and speaks out towards him.
"Greetings, King Novik. I wish to discuss a matter of importance with you and with the Deag."
"Hmmm, very well. General Valen."
"Yes milord?"
"You will take responsibility towards this man, while the rest of you have important things to do, such as trying to stop this threat from spreading across these lands.
All the generals press their right arms against their chests and bows respect to King Novik and finally depart from the room. Doomguy walks beside Valen, while Silas walks behind them and keeps his eyes on Doomguy. With them departing from the room, Khan Maykr got the chance to speak to Kintg Novik, regarding the demonic threat and what powers they wield that could help.
