Defiance
Chapter Two
The last thing Draco Malfoy expected to happen that day would be that the Weasel would slam him into the wall. He also didn't expect to hear that Hermione had been kidnapped by his father.
He stormed down the path from the castle, his robes swirling behind him, his aura crackling with magic. He was visibly pissed off. At the gates he disapparated with a loud crack, which startled some birds from the trees.
He knew when he landed at Malfoy Manor, his father would know, and it would be seen as a blatant act of defiance and this act would have him banished from the family.
He landed just outside the wards but as he was a Malfoy could see the Manor. But knew if anyone was patrolling the wards he would be noticed. With that in mind he quickly disillusioned himself and thought on his next move. It was quiet, almost too quiet and a little unnerving.
Back at Hogwarts Harry had gone to sit done but he felt anxious he wanted to do something, he wanted to help. Ron was muttering to himself and eating – which was no surprise he could eat during any crisis.
Blaise had also returned to the Slytherin Table. Eyebrow's were raised and faces held silent questions but he gave no answer.
"What was that about?" whispered Daphne Greengrass.
He looked at her but knew he could trust as she was already aware of part of the situation.
"Lucius kidnapped Hermione," he whispered.
"And the Weasel blamed Draco," she assumed.
"You'd be correct," he whispered. "Draco's gone after her."
"Looks like Potter might have had an idea," she muttered, as her attention was directed to the Gryffindor table.
"What?" asked Blaise, also redirecting his attention.
"His head snapped up like he'd had a sudden thought and he is now leaving the hall," she said, as she returned to her meal.
Blaise waited a moment or two while he finished his meal and then headed out as well. When he rounded the corner, Potter was speaking to a house elf.
"Potter!" he called.
Harry turned his head and Blaise noticed the elf – Dobby the Malfoy's old elf.
"Had an idea?" asked Blaise.
Potter nodded. "Dobby can get in and out of Malfoy Manor undetected. I thought maybe he could go after Malfoy and help get Hermione back."
"Dobby I know you'd do anything for Potter, but do you know who could be in the Manor?" asked Blaise.
"Yes, Master Blaise bad men the very bad men and crazy lady," squeaked Dobby.
"Crazy lady," muttered Harry.
"Bellatrix," said Blaise. "Dobby if you apparate to outside the wards could you sense who's in there or at least how many?"
Dobby nodded and disappeared.
"Well I didn't mean him to that as an instruction,"
"He does that," said Harry.
Within moments Dobby reappeared. "Master Draco is also outside the wards. Dobby could sense Hermione is the dungeon, Mistress Narcissa in the manor and Master Lucius."
"No one else?" asked Harry.
"Yes, but Dobby could not get a good read on their magic," he said.
"Go to Draco, tell him what you told us and stay with him," said Blaise.
"And take me," said Harry.
"Potter," started Blaise.
"Hermione is my best friend and she has risked her life more than enough," said Harry.
"I can't believe I'm saying this don't do anything stupid," muttered Blaise.
Potter nodded and he and Dobby disappeared and landed next to Draco.
With the house elf poked Draco, he jumped, and his disillusionment spell fell.
"Potter what the bloody hell are you doing here?" he muttered.
"Hermione is my friend," he said.
"Blaise told you," said Draco.
Harry nodded. "Hermione was my first real friend I'm not tossing that away just because she chose to date you, I'll tolerate you."
"Did you poke me?" asked Draco.
"No Dobby," answered Harry. "Have you got a plan?"
"I have now," said Draco. "Dobby you can get in and out of the dungeons, right?"
"Yes, I can bring Hermione to you," squeaked Dobby.
"Go to the dungeon, do not let anyone see you and let me know what you see," ordered Draco.
Within minutes Dobby was back.
"Master Lucius is in there. Hermione is chained up, but Dobby could break the chains, she is bruised and has cuts, but I stayed out of sight in the corner."
"So, we go in undetected, stun your father, grab Hermione and get out," said Potter.
"That wouldn't work," said Draco. "You'd have to stay here the wards would identify you as an intruder. I'll have to go."
"Malfoy if your father," started Potter
"Potter I'm well aware that if my father finds out I had something to do with Hermione's recuse it won't be pleasant Hermione is worth it," he said.
"Dobby we're going to the dungeon, both disillusioned and we stun whoever is in there before we free Hermione," said Draco. "Potter if you see anyone walking in any direction get out of here."
Dobby nodded, grabbed Draco and quietly apparated into the dungeon.
Much to Draco's relief it was still just his father in the dungeon. Just to be sure he cast the homo revelo just in case, he was well aware that Hermione could be bait for Potter.
No one else was revealed and so he sent a powerful wandless stupefy at his father's back and caught him unaware. He watched as he fell and waited a few minutes to make sure no one heard the dull thud.
Hermione was stared at the patriarch of the Malfoy family with a look of shock on her face but also fear has she glanced around the dungeons. She didn't even hear or feel the chains fall of her until someone grabbed her.
She tensed and started to thrash.
"Mia," whispered a voice.
"Draco," she whispered, stopping.
"Your safe Mia," he whispered.
She clung to him, her arms wrapped around her neck.
"Dobby," he muttered.
She buried her head in his neck and she felt the sensations of apparition. But was confused when she heard Harry's voice when they landed. She raised her head and saw they were outside Malfoy Manor.
"All ok?" asked Harry.
"Harry?" she asked.
"Hermione are you ok?" he asked.
"I think so, but I you Draco," she muttered.
"Let's get back to Hogwarts Mia then we'll all talk," muttered Draco.
Dobby grabbed all of them but as the disappeared no one noticed the figure watching them from the Manor.
