Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well, especially with the virus panic going around. While you may think all this time at home is writing time, unfortunately, online school is giving me more work than I actually get at school, so I'm having trouble finding time to write, I actually still have some stuff to do, but it's late so I am typing this instead. I want it to be known that Star Wars doesn't exist in the PJO universe in this fanfic, because I want Lucas´s Force abilities to be mysterious to everyone, as well as the lightsaber. Thanks to the people who read the first chapter and here is the second.
Lucas P.O.V.
I wake up, and see a grey ceiling above me. That's strange, my ceiling is blue. I get up and stretch. Strange, this isn't my room. I look around this room and see 2 beds, one with what looks to be a 12 year old on it, 2 desks, various decorations, and a door to what looks to be a bathroom. Why am I in a room with a 12 year old? Then, it hits me. The quest I accepted from the Fates. Oh my god… gods. Was it real? It looks like it was since I woke up in a place I don't recognize.
I walk over to the 12 year old´s bed and see a name tag next to it, Kevin Lewis. I turn around and notice my name tag out of the corner of my eye, it reads, Theseus ¨Theo¨ Jackson. (A/N, from now on, I will refer to Lucas as Theo or Theseus, just to keep his new identity and his old seperate) No, no no no no no, you have got to be kidding me. I run to the bathroom and look into the mirror in it. Raven black hair, sea green eyes, looks to be 12 years old. What kind of joke do the Fates think they´re playing? Am I the brother of Percy?!
Ok, ok ok ok ok, where are my ´gifts´ from the Fates. I turn around and go back into the dorm room, my roommate appears to still be asleep. I walk over to my bed and check the bedside table, nothing. I check my new belongings and I find the books that the Fates gave me. I take the one about the Force out of the suitcase I found it in and put it on my bed. It lands right next to a folded up piece of paper. Strange, I think. I pick it up and open it.
Greetings Lucas, or should we call you Theo? As you may have figured out now, you are the brother of Perseus Jackson, and a child of Poseidon. You are the slightly younger twin, and your new mother is Sally Jackson, one of the best in the world. You have all the knowledge of the past 12 years and everyone will remember how you act as how Theo has always acted. Your lightsaber is at Camp Half-Blood in the weapon shed, as we don't want your new brother, Chiron, or Grover getting suspicious of you having a weapon already. It will have three settings, training, sparring, and fighting. Training is the weakest setting and a hit from your blade will only lightly shock the opponent, or yourself. This is, as the name suggests, what you will use while training yourself. Sparring is the medium setting, and a hit from it will burn the enemy, but not cut any limbs off. This is the setting you will, you guessed it, spar on. Fighting is the most powerful setting, and it is the one that slices off limbs. You use this while fighting monsters. You should know that celestial bronze is a divine metal and as such, can resist lightsaber hits even at full power. It will never break a symbol of power. A blessed weapon or piece of armor from a god can resist it for a while, but will break eventually. A normal celestial bronze weapon or armor piece will break after 2 hits, so on the 3rd it will cut through. All of those calculations are at full power and go for both imperial gold and stygian iron. The other two settings will never break celestial bronze. Any more questions can be answered by Iris Messaging us, it will only work for you.
Good Luck, The Fates.
Well, isn't that just great. I don't have a weapon and will have to fight Alecto and the Minotaur alongside my new brother Percy Jackson. He still is the prophecy child if I am slightly younger, but we are so close in age that it probably won't matter in the eyes of Kronos or Zeus. Welp, at least I have an easy way into the first quest, I´ll worry about the rest of them when I get there.
My roommate starts to stir, so I quickly rip the note and throw it into my suitcase. He sits up and rubs at his eyes, ¨Hey Theo, why are you up so early, I normally wake up ages before you do?¨ he asks.
¨Well, I had a weird dream last night so I woke up early.¨ I lie.
He nods and climbs out of his bed. ¨What are you doing, put on your uniform." he says.
¨Uniform?¨ I ask.
¨For Yancy Academy, duh. Are you sure waking up early didn't cause memory loss?¨ he asks jokingly.
¨No, just not used to waking this early.¨ I say, getting changed.
Line Break
I´m on a bus, on the way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I´m sitting next to Kevin and across the aisle are my brother and Grover. I can't lie and say I didn't internally fanboy when I first met Percy. I learned using my memory of the past 12 years that me and Percy are super close brothers, mostly due to Smelly Gabe being himself and us having to stick together. Gods, memories are enough of that man, I'm glad I didn have to live with him. Nancy Bobofit is just as annoying as she is in the books. She's currently throwing her peanut butter and ketchup sandwich at Grover, just like in the beginning of the Lightning Thief. I've definitely started the book. Mrs. Dodds is just as evil as she is in the books and I don't really want to fight her but it's gonna happen.
I´ve been using the Force book to begin training one of my new powers. That book has from basics to very advanced maneuvers. I can't really do anything worthwhile at this point, and probably won't be able to for a while. I can't even move an empty bottle of water, which, to be fair, is to be expected after a week of training. At most, I might be able to slightly increase my reflexes.
¨That's it.¨ I hear Percy say, as he starts to get up from his seat. I notice Nancy grinning from behind Grover. I help Grover make sure Percy doesn't start a fight.
¨Percy stop, you´re gonna get both of us kicked out again.¨ I say.
¨As if that's anything new to us Theo, I seem to recall you pulling that lever.¨ grumbles Percy from in his seat.
¨That was an accident and you know it.¨ I say while blushing. In this universe, I pulled the lever into the shark pool, I may not have gone through it, but this body still remembers the embarrassment.
We reach the museum shortly after, and Mr. Brunner, aka Chiron, leads us into the museum. His wheelchair squeaks on the clean marble as he rolls through the exhibits. Eventually, we reach the stele, and everything goes just as it did last time.
¨Will you shut up?¨ whisper shouts Percy.
¨Mr. Jackson, did you have a comment?¨ asks Mr. Brunner. (A/N he's gonna be Mr. Brunner until they reach camp.)
¨I do not, Mr. Brunner." I say. I´m glad to take a small bit of attention off of my new older brother. Percy sends me a look of relief.
Mr. Brunner clears his throat, ¨I´m sorry, the other Mr. Jackson.¨
Percy says, ¨No sir.¨
Mr. Brunner points to the picture of Kronos eating the baby gods, ¨Perhaps you´ll tell us what this picture represents?¨ he asks.
¨That's Kronos eating his kids, right?¨ Percy says.
Yes, and why did he do this?¨ probes Mr. Brunner.
¨Well… Kronos was the king god...¨ starts Percy before getting interrupted by Mr. Brunner.
¨God?¨ asks Mr. Brunner,
¨Uh...¨
Percy starts to blank before I whisper, ¨Titan¨.
¨Titan, and he didn't trust his kids, the gods. So, uhm, he ate them. But his wife hid baby Zeus and gave Kronos a rock to eat. After Zeus grew up, he tricked his dad into throwing up his brothers and sisters...¨ says Percy before a girl interrupts him by fake vomiting.
¨and then there was a big fight between the gods and the Titans, and the gods won.¨ finishes Percy.
"Like we're going to use this in real life. Like it's going to say on our job applications, 'Please explain why Kronos ate his kids.'" whispers Nancy.
"And why, Mr. Jackson," Mr. Brunner said, "to paraphrase Miss Bobofit's excellent question, does this matter in real life?"
"Busted," Grover muttered.
"Shut up," Nancy hissed, her face even brighter red than her hair.
¨I don't know sir.¨ says Percy after thinking about it.
¨How about you, other Mr. Jackson?¨ asks Mr. Brunner.
¨Um, it's a story about how fear can lead you to do things that you wouldn't otherwise do.¨ I say.
¨Very good Mr. Jacksons. Zeus did indeed feed Kronos a mixture of mustard and wine, which made him disgorge his other five children, who, of course, being immortal gods, had been living and growing up completely undigested in the Titan's stomach. The gods defeated their father, sliced him to pieces with his own scythe, and scattered his remains in Tartarus, the darkest part of the Underworld. On that happy note, it's time for lunch. Mrs. Dodds, would you lead us back outside?"
The class drifted off, the girls holding their stomachs, the guys pushing each other around and acting like doofuses.
Me, Percy, and Grover were about to head to the fountain to eat but Mr. Brunner said, ¨Mr. Underwood, if I may have a word with the two Mr. Jacksons?¨
¨Of course, Mr. Brunner.¨ Grover says before turning to me and Percy, ¨I wait for you guys at the fountain.¨ he says before walking off.
¨Yes Mr. Brunner?¨ I ask.
¨Well Theo, while your answer is a good one, and perfectly valid, it's not the one I was looking for. Percy, I suggest you and your brother find the personal answer to my question. What you learn from me is vitally important and I will only accept the best from you two.¨ he says.
¨We´ll both try harder.¨ I say, before asking, ¨Can we go eat now?¨
Mr. Brunner smiles before nodding.
Me and Percy both walk over to the fountain where Grover is waiting, chatting along the way. ¨I love Mr. Brunner´s class, but he's so hard on us, I mean, we both have ADHD and dyslexia, what does he really expect?¨ rants Percy.
¨I know bro, but you have to admit he's been our best teacher this year.¨ I say.
¨Yeah, you´re right. You know, sometimes I wish something exciting would happen, because with our ADHD and dyslexia, I feel like we aren't made for this normal life.¨ I had been taking a sip of water from my lunch, but I snorted and some came out of my nose. I cough and Percy looks at me concerned. ¨Are you ok Theo?¨ he asks.
¨Yeah, fine.¨ I choke out. Gods, he has no clue how close he is to what´s about to happen.
We eat our lunch peacefully, bar for Grover asking for Percy's apple after Percy explained what Mr. Brunner wanted to talk about. I think I should explain Grover´s relationship between the three of us. Me and him are good friends, but him and Percy are best friends. Meaning he likes Percy more.
Peacefully, that is, until Nancy Bobofit showed up and dumped her lunch onto Grover´s lap.
¨Oops.¨ she said while grinning like the cheshire cat. I was upset and so was Percy. Even if I´ve only truly known Grover for a week, he's still a great friend and I also have the advantage of knowing what he becomes in the future. I subconsciously tapped into the Force and Force pulled her towards the fountain, causing her to stumble and trip into the watery hand Percy formed that dragged her into the fountain.
Now that I think about it, will I have to worry about the dark side?
Anyways, Mrs. Dodds basically teleports to us and says ¨Now honeys¨ while the other kids whisper about how she was pushed by the air and the water grabbed her.
¨We know, a month of erasing textbooks.¨ I would get on to Percy for saying that, but it changed nothing.
¨Come with me.¨ she growls.
Enter Grover´s attempt at saving us. ¨It was me, I pushed her.¨ I can see him trembling under her glare, but it's still very brave.
"I don't think so, Mr. Underwood," she said.
"But-"
"You-will-stay-here." Grover looked at me desperately.
"It's okay, man," Percy told him. "Thanks for trying."
¨Now¨ barks out Mrs. Dodds.
Nancy Bobofit smirked.
Percy gave her his deluxe I'll-kill-you-later stare. As his brother, I hope I only ever get a half-hearted one of those, and eventually develop my own. Although, it's nothing compared to what it will be after the Wolf House.
Then we turned to face Mrs. Dodds, but she wasn't there. She was standing at the museum entrance, way at the top of the steps, gesturing impatiently at us to come on.
We followed her past the gift shop and into the stele room.
¨You two have been giving us problems.¨ she growls out.
I whisper to Percy, ¨I´ve got a bad feeling about this.¨ (A/N That's right, there´s gonna be star wars quotes whenever I feel like sneaking one in)
He nods his agreement before turning back to Mrs. Dodds, ¨Sorry Ma´am.¨ he says.
¨Did you really think you two would get away with it?¨ she asks. I start to enhance my reflexes to the best of my Force abilities.
¨Get away with what?¨ I ask.
¨We are not fools, Theseus and Perseus Jackson, It was only a matter of time before you were discovered, Confess and you will suffer less pain.¨ she says.
¨Ma´am, we didn't...¨ Percy starts.
¨Time´s up.¨ she says before starting to smoulder. Her skin burns off until she shows her true form.
¨Percy, split up!¨ I yell. I push him to my right and run to my left. Alecto flies towards me and swipes at me with her talons. I roll to my right, barely dodging the razor sharp claws.
¨What ho boys!¨ I hear Chiron/Mr. Brunner shout. Percy is thrown Riptide and I´m thrown a celestial bronze sword. My head swivels up to see Mrs. Dodds trying another fly by on me. She swipes and parry with the sword. I swipe at her flying past only to knick her side. She hisses at me and flies towards Percy. He swings Riptide at her and she flies right into it, exploding into the signature yellow dust of dead monsters. I blink and the sword was not in my hand anymore. Percy is holding the ballpoint pen, and looks very confused.
We share a glance before we decide that Alecto actually just attacked us. ¨Did that just...¨ starts Percy.
¨Yeah.¨ I say before he can finish. We head back outside into the newly pouring rain.
Mr. Brunner looks up from his book underneath his cart umbrella to say, ¨Ah, that would be my pen. Please bring your own writing utensil in the future, Mr. Jackson." Percy handed Mr. Brunner his pen.
Percy hadn't even realized he was still holding it.
"Sir," I said, "where's Mrs. Dodds?"
He stared at me blankly. "Who?"
"The other chaperone. Mrs. Dodds. The pre-algebra teacher."
He frowned and sat forward, looking mildly concerned. "Theo, there is no Mrs. Dodds on this trip. As far as I know, there has never been a Mrs. Dodds at Yancy Academy. Are you feeling alright?"
Boom. That's the chapter done. I think I will be doing this based on story points, not word count, so I don't know how long each chapter will be. Thankfully, I should have a decent amount of time this weekend to write, so have fun with this chapter and you shouldn´t hopefully wait too long for the next.
