* Where on the same day as Chapter 1*

* Yangs POV*

I had already spent an hour in the attic alone with nobody else to talk to just me, myself and I. Thankfully there was a clock up here so I knew I had already spent but it would drag on throughout the day so it gave me more time to figure out who was the 'R' in team STRQ. While sitting in silence looking at old images, I heard a door open from below me to realise it was Summer who came out of her bedroom. As I heard her walking down the corridor she stopped, for a split second I thought I didn't close the attic correctly but then she opened a door below me which I knew lead to my bedroom. I was curious into why she entered my bedroom but she didn't close the door behind her, after a few minutes I hear movement again from my room assuming that Summer was walking out of my room. My assumption was correct and she closed the door behind her and carried on walking down the corridor which then her footsteps became more quiet, that's when the silence came again.

It had been two hours since Summer woke up and went into my bedroom. As I was sitting in the attic reading a diary about Summers time in this place called Beacon, I heard another door open which I knew was my sister, Ruby, getting up out of bed and walking out her room down the corridor. She didn't stop like Summer but instead carried on past my bedroom and went down stairs where my father and Summer where. I smiled knowing she didn't have to live in my shoes and didn't know what was happening to the people around her. When around half an hour later I heard footsteps again which assumed where my sisters feet going towards her bedroom to get changed and play all day. I was happy that I'm the only one out of me and her to receive this type of treatment because if my 5 year old sister was treated the same way like me their would be a fight.

Sometimes if I'm not sent to the attic and sent to the basement instead, but since their isn't anything to look at I train myself with the punching bag and learn how to fight in case my father took my punishment to a whole new level.

Hours went by and I had finished reading one of Summers diaries that she had in this box it was only 1 in the afternoon. Today must of been busy because Ruby, Summer and my dad kept walking around underneath me, I was curious into why they kept walking around below me. However, during this Summer was upstairs when she stopped right below me and I hoped she didn't know I was above her. she walked back towards my bedroom door and stopped when another pair of footsteps could be heard, I knew them right away. They where my dads footsteps. He stopped right next to where Summer was because they where talking so I stayed quiet and listened in to their conversation.

The first person to speak was Tai " Summer what's up and why are you crying?" He spoke a lot more gently towards her than when he speaks to me, " I can't take this anymore Tai." Summer spoke with sorrow which confused me why would she be upset and was it about me and why would she be sad when she also punishes me. It sounded like Tai was about to say something when #summer cut in before him, " I can't keep doing this to her, I can't bring myself to hurt her anymore Tai. I want it to stop." I was shocked at what Summer had said, did she really care about me or was she acting because she knew I was above them that's when I heard my dad talk again " I know Summer but she needs to learn about the real world one way or another. Look if you want to stop then that's fine but to be honest I couldn't care less about the girl anymore."

That sentence broke me, not only was I out of the way, I was not broken with a shattered heart. Before I could cry Summer spoke out of nowhere " How can you say that, she is your own flesh and blood and you make her sound like she's useless and doesn't deserve to live," I guess at this moment in time me and Summer where thinking the same thoughts because what she said to my dad was what I was thinking.

It was silent for a few minutes when my dad spoke again this he sounded heartless " She's half of my flesh and blood, the other half is Ravens," before I could think Summer spoke again this time sounding more shocked " Yes that maybe true Tai but you've looked after her for all of her life."

It sounded like Summer paused half way because her tone in her voice changed when she spoke again " that's why your doing this to her isn't it Tai, your doing it because she looks like Raven to much."

That was when I was looking at the photo in my hand and realised that the 'R' was this woman Raven who I don't know, she was the missing person and was the one who I could never figure out. While lost in my thought, my dad spoke cutting though the silence " Yes, ok yes that's why I'm doing this to Yang, she's to much of her mother than me and since Raven left then maybe Yang will follow her footsteps as well."

That was when I heard it all, this mysterious woman, Raven was my mother. She never died from sickness or from battle but just got up and left. I could hear down below Summer crying and a few mumbled words but I couldn't really understand them much I was to lost in my own thoughts at that moment in time.

The crying stopped and the silence came back to the house. I could hear them talking but it was really quiet so I struggled to understand them. Something must of happened because Summer and Tai walked away from the attic and towards the stairs. I then heard Ruby exit her room and run down stairs. That's when I heard the faint sound of a door opening but it sounded quiet far away from where I was at the moment in time. Then I heard Ruby scream, at first I panicked but then she yelled "UNCLE QROW!" and I laughed know how excited she gets. I could hear Summer and dad laughing at Ruby as well. I couldn't hear much after that so I went back to one of Summers boxes and took out another diary and started reading it to see if I could learn more about this Raven person. I kept reading through this diary but nothing was mentioned yet, as I kept reading I didn't notice the footsteps approaching me where I was.

As I was to busy focused on this diary I didn't notice the sound below me had came to a stop where the rope to the attic was, I kept hearing some sounds but chose to ignore them instead but then I realised someone was opening the attic because a light brighter then the dull bulb came from the entrance. That's when the panic started, at first I thought it was my father coming to punish me or maybe Summer had found out about me being up here and would hit me because I was reading something that's about her personally, I knew it couldn't have been Ruby because she wouldn't have been able to reach the rope and Uncle Qrow never knew about me being abused or being up here.

When my eyes sight returned I saw who it was and was socked that it was my Uncle Qrow that was entering the attic for an unknown cause. That's when he noticed me sitting on the floor and looking through Summers belongings. He looked straight at me and I thought he was gonna hit me for doing this be when he fully climbed into the attic and turned on his scroll which shined brighter than the actual light he closed the attic door and started to crawl towards where I was. I closed my eyes so that I wouldn't have to see him hit me, so when he stopped right next to me and did nothing I was confused into why he didn't hit me but instead spoke softly towards me instead of yelled at me " Hi Firecracker." That is when I looked at him in the eyes and his facial expression changed from happiness to shocked and I knew why.

My eyes looked dull and empty inside.
