Chapter 2
Seven Years Later…
King Jude's ship was on its way to the docs in the port of the small town of Hargeon. The king stepped out onto the deck and took a deep breath of the sea air as he thought about the next few months ahead. He missed his beloved wife dearly and even though he would never say it, he was dreading leaving his daughter in another kingdom for the summer.
The young princess would be residing in her temporary home from now until September in the Dragon Kingdom inside the town of Magnolia. King Igneel had said that they were looking forward to her stay and that she would be well taken care of. Jude hoped that this summer would go well, the Dragon Kingdom would make an excellent ally for the Celestial Kingdom. A squeal of excitement caught his attention. He looked to find his daughter running around on the deck trying to outrun her nanny/governess, Aquarius.
"STOP RUNNING AROUND YOU LITTLE BRAT!" yelled the annoyed governess.
Jude watched his daughter immediately stop and clumsily stumble and catch herself on the deck. Aquarius then snatched the child up and took her down stairs towards their stateroom to finish getting the child ready.
Princess Lucy reappeared wearing a dark pink gown with small pink ballet flats. Her hair was braided into a bun and her tiara sparkled. She had a scowl on her face as she went to stand next to her father as the ship began to dock. Aquarius came up shortly afterward and stood far enough back to give the king and his daughter a polite distance. Lucy glanced back and could still see the vein popping out of her nanny's forehead. She smiled to herself knowing she had caused some mischief for the governess after she had made her dress up so heavily. The young girl was your typical seven-year-old. She was wild and full of energy and to top it off, she had a sassy attitude.
King Jude knew that Igneel and Aquarius both would have their work cut out for themselves with the children running around his castle.
As soon as the gangplank was placed, King Jude, Lucy and Aquarius made their way off the ship and into a carriage as they made their way towards Magnolia. Lucy sat across from her father and next to her governess and you could tell the child could hardly contain her excitement as she tried to stick her head out of the window to get a better look at her surroundings.
"Lucy, a lady doesn't ogle. Bring your head back inside this carriage this instant." Said Aquarius.
"But I'm not yet a lady. I'm a little girl." Replied Lucy.
King Jude held back a chuckle as Aquarius clenched her jaw and closed her eyes. The vein in her forehead starting to tick.
"Lady or not, bring your head back inside. Now."
"Lucy, my child do as your governess says." The king said quietly.
Lucy obeyed her father and sat herself straight up and smoothed out her gown. She continued to look out the window but stayed seated. Out of the corner of her eye she found her father not paying attention to her any longer so she looked at Aquarius. The nanny raised her eyebrows expectantly and was surprised to find Lucy quickly stick her tongue out at her.
"Tch." Aquarius clicked, and decided to let it pass…for now…
