Today is March 20th. It's a Friday and school was extremely easy compared to the other classes. I had 0 homework always. Out of the entire school, there were only 3 kids that I have a deep interest in. Claire, Toby, and Jim. There was something off about them. I always had a strange feeling when I was around them. I sensed something different. It was as if they too used magic.
I've been wanting to talk to them since the day I began to notice. It was about 2 months ago. The feeling reminded me to chant every day before bedtime. I wasn't shy, I just didn't know how to bring up magic without sounding weird or suspicious. So instead I brought a magic book I made myself to school.
That Friday morning I sat at the school bench and started reading the chapter on primal energy. It caught their attention immediately. I heard them running towards me. When I looked at them the first thing Jim said was, "Where did you get that book?"
This was the beginning of something nobody could have ever imagined. "Oh, do you like it? I made it myself during the summer." Then Tobias jumped into the conversation. "Hold up! You made this! How?" "I just bought the book on Etsy and filled it in." "Do you mind if we look at it?" Claire seemed concerned. "Sure." I handed the book to Claire and watched as they huddled together to read the first page. I could tell by the looks on their faces that they were concerned. I knew there was something off about these 3 and now I know for a fact that they were involved with something dangerous and they needed my help. "This is so unreal", Claire whispered to Jim.
I wrote the book in 2 languages. They were both created by the wizard Merlin. The one that included letters and numbers I used for the main passages while the 2nd one which was more simplified I used for small side facts. "What is your name", Jim asked calmly. "Irene Treyette." "Irene, you can read and write a wizard's language?" "Yeah", I nervously responded. "How did you learn? Where did you learn?" "You wouldn't believe me if I told you, Jim." The 3 teens exchanged looks and then turned their attention back towards me. "Try us," Claire said in an explicit manner. "I don't think I should at school." "Ok well, can you hang out with us after school?" "Sure," I responded.
Claire handed the book back to me and I stuffed it away into my bag. The school bell rang and we went our separate ways. Right before I entered the class I heard Jim from a distance, "Do you think she's a witch?" Yep! There was something very fishy going on.
After school, I started watching TikTok on my phone. There was a lot of dance videos I loved and practiced at home. "Hey, Irene," I heard Jim call my name. Claire and Toby were nowhere to be seen. "Oh hi, Jim. So you wanted me to come over," I said nervously. "Yeah is that alright?" "It's cool I just won't be able to stay long. I got stuff I need to do at home," but really I just wanted to go home and dance the night away. "Ok. Wanna ride on my Vespa? It's faster than walking." My pulse quickened. I guess this was all happening a bit too fast. "Sure," I responded quickly.
The ride was nice. I didn't have a helmet though. When we sat down on the living room couch Jim wanted to see the book again. Before I handed it to him I noticed something glowing in his pocket. "What's that," I asked excitingly. "Oh, nothing. Just a toy amulet that glows." "Cool can I see it?" I gave Jim the book in exchange for the amulet. There was ancient writing on it. I wasn't even thinking when I spoke, "For The Glory Of Merlin, Daylight Is Mine To Command." "Wait, you can read troll?" I mumbled yes and continued to stare at the amulet. "Are you a witch," Jim suddenly asked me. "Uhh no," I said as if I wasn't even sure about what he was asking me. Quickly adding, "I just know things." I was beginning to think that I was going to have to tell him about my experiences with witchcraft, but how would he react? Do I even want to know? "Jim, sometimes I see things in my sleep and just remember them when I wake up." "Do you mean like visions," Jim asked in curiosity. I guess. I don't really know, but one thing for sure is that your amulet is not a toy." Jim stared at me, not knowing what to say. "Jim I'm not a witch but I've used good luck chants before." "Okay," he sounded confused. "I don't expect you to really understand but I might as well explain myself."
For the next 2 hours, I explained the most important details of my life while skipping the personal ones. "So now you live alone?" "Yes," I confirmed. "I understand why. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone." "Thank you, Jim. It's alright if Claire and Toby know but no adults please."
Suddenly Claire and Toby walked in through the backdoor. They were talking about a book they discovered in Strickler's office. "Jimbo we found a book in Strickler's office. Claire can't translate it. We-" Toby suddenly stopped when he saw me holding Jim's amulet. "It's ok guys. Irene can know." I smiled softly at Jim for trusting me with this and then turned my attention back to the book that Toby was talking about. My heartfelt as if it stopped beating for 2 seconds and then began beating slow large amounts of blood. The book was written in the song of the dragon and I could read it! "Dark Magic Of The Old Religion." They were all shocked when I read the title. Nobody said anything so I continued, "I know you find it strange that I know these languages but I promise you that I am nobody special." "What are you talking about? Claire can barely understand troll and you know 4 magical languages as if they were your first."
I didn't want to continue the conversation so I decided to come up with an excuse to leave, "Jim I gotta go home. Could you explain the situation to them for me?" "Sure." "Great," I turned to leave when Claire spoke, "Wait could you help us translate this book before you go?" Looking at the book while responding, "I might have to take it home and read it over the weekend." Claire handed me the ancient spellbook and I gave Jim back his amulet. Gathering all of my belongings I left without another word.
While I was walking home I had a strange feeling that I was being watched. Normally when I get this feeling it's the magical chant in the morning that's telling me to be wary. Perhaps I've been spending too much time reading those books. Not the first time the thought has come to my head and every time I ignored it. I've received weird feelings before but this time it felt more serious. Maybe someone or something is following me…
Before bed, I often asked for pleasant dreams or visions. They're all about the same things. I see flashes of places, magical rituals, strange objects, and people. Not just humans, dragons, trolls, witches and a wizard. I often draw what I see. On simple ones, I use just plain pencil while others that look more meaningful I'll draw in color or take the project to PhotoShop. There the vision becomes a living fantasy.
I often find gifted people in the visions. I called them sifas. They all have small glowing dragon wings on their heads. Purple or red eyes. Some had strange birthmarks that seemed to match with the dragons. Perhaps they were related? There was one sifa and dragon that I liked the most. The sifa's name is Irene Treyette. My real name will never be revealed. I had it changed the first time I saw her. The dragon was Veogra. I really do believe that they are sisters. All of the sifas had teleportation abilities. The ones that seemed related to the dragons were more powerful. They were elemental. Irene's element was life.
"If only I was gifted," I muttered to myself when I arrived at my house. I saw a package on the porch. It was my Japanese Anime Costume I ordered a few days ago. Snatching it up and running into the house I ripped it open and pulled out the sailor dress. It was just as I wanted it. Knowing that I'm rich and can buy whatever I want perhaps it's about time that I start buying the things that make me happy.
Logging on to my PC and opening my folder of past digital artworks of Irene, I scrolled until I found my most favorite one. When she was little and playing with Veogra in a troll village. Irene had white hair, purple eyes, and midnight blue birthmarks. Veogra was a white dragon. Her wings and tail were a pattern of pink, purple and blue. She too had purple eyes. Both of them were wonderful and always seeking adventure.
A little while later I decided to head to my room and put on the new outfit. After admiring myself in the mirror for a while I pulled the ancient book out of my bag and dove onto my bed. I immediately started reading.
I still had the weary feeling. If I truly was being watched, then the person was extremely dangerous and worked for someone who sought revenge. I was too lost in the book to take interest though. The cover was serious when it said forbidden. It spoke about dangerous spells, potions, and enchantments. Yet it also explained the cures and how to break the spells. I knew they were real so I didn't even dare to try one out.
After a while, I began to feel drowsy. Closing the book and speaking the dream chant in the mirror, I went to bed. The dream was nothing new. I've seen him many times before with Irene. A troll who seemed to be in his 1,000's. He had big horns on the sides of his head, golden armor on his wrists and waist. His eyes were like glass. His pupils glow a golden color in the dark and the sclera was black. There were blue glowing gems inside crevices of his body. He was kind and sweet. He loved Irene and protected her with his life. I've seen visions of them playing when she was a child. It appears that he raised her as well. In the dream, Irene was about 18 years old. They were dancing. It seemed to be a ritual of some sort.
I've created many digital photos of them in the past. They looked so happy together and every time I looked at them I felt as if I was her. I felt as if I was the one cuddling with him as a child or playing a game of some sort in his village. It always puts a huge smile on my face.
Quite a few of my digital creations include magical energy flowing or amazing shots of them doing fun adventurous things in beautiful sceneries. One of my favorites was Veogra flying under the midnight sky. The pictures look to be alive. A fantasy that's been turned into your reality. I make animations of them in Blender too. Many beautiful moments were created. I felt as if I was falling in love with it all.
