Star Wars: Rebellion Rising
Chapter 1: The Gathering Storm
Chapter 1-Part 1: Duel
Mustafar, 19 BBY
The sound of molten lava and lightsabers filled the canyon on Mustafar. Two Jedi stood on a metal platform floating towards a large rise.
"I've failed you Anakin," Obi-Wan Kenobi said sadly as he deflected Anakin and answered with one of his own, "I've failed you.."
"I should've known that the Jedi were plotting to take over!" Anakin growled intensely as he swung his saber at his former master.
"Anakin! Chancellor Palpatine's evil!" Obi-Wan countered as he deflected the blow.
"From my point of view, the Jedi are evil!" Anakin replied, slashing at his master.
"Well, then you are lost!" Obi-Wan shouted as he jumped away, landing on the shore of the lava river.
"This is the end for you, my master," Anakin said, glaring up at Obi-Wan, "I wish it were otherwise."
"It's over Anakin! I have the high ground!" Obi-Wan tried to reason with his former student.
"You underestimate my power!" Anakin responded.
"Don't try it!" Obi-Wan yelled.
Anakin screamed in rage and lept towards the older Jedi, and his body, his left arm, and his legs fell separately towards the ground, his triple amputated torso dropped down towards the lava. "YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE!" Obi-Wan screamed at his fallen opponent in disgust. "You were meant to destroy the Sith, not join them! You were meant to bring balance to the force, not leave it in darkness!"
"I HATE YOU!" Anakin screamed back in pure rage.
Obi-Wan watched Anakin in despair as he remembered Grand Master Yoda's words. Anakin was completely corrupted by the dark side and had to be destroyed.
"You still have so much to learn, my very foolhardy padawan..."
"Qui-Gon?" Obi-Wan gasped, his eyes widening.
"Did you learn nothing from me, Obi-Wan?" Qui-Gon's voice asked with a hint of amusement. "The dark side, the light side, it's all part of the force; the dark can be used for good, and the light can be used of evil. No one can be filled with one side. No one is without saving, only by changing their point of view. If one believes one is good and another is evil, the one that is believed to be evil must only change the person's point of view."
"I..."
"Letting the boy burn to death isn't going to help change his opinion on you and the 'evil' Jedi, you realize? What did I always teach you? Trust your feelings. Your mind tells you to follow Grand Master Yoda's orders without question, and as wise as he is, he IS wrong here, Obi-Wan. This is your chance. Following old traditions and take the father of 2 children from them, dooming them all to a life of hardships, or trust in the will of the force."
Anakin felt a burning sensation in his legs and knew his robes caught on fire, but he was in no way prepared for Obi-Wan to grab his prosthetic arm, jerking him away from the fire and using the force to put out the flames on his robes.
"What?" Anakin asked in shock as Obi-Wan pulled him into a tight hug.
"You're my brother, Anakin. I love you, and I won't allow you to die like this. Not like this." Obi-Wan said, clinging to his fallen friend.
"I HATE YOU!" Anakin screamed into Obi-Wan's chest.
"I don't care," Obi-Wan said, tightening his hug.
"You'll be...expelled from the order...for helping me..." Anakin forced out though his pain and growing emotions.
"I'd care less my friend," Obi-Wan stated, "We're all wrong here, Anakin, not just you. Grand Master Yoda, Master Windu, everyone. Chancellor Palpatine manipulated us for all his selfish reasons."
"Why should I believe you?" Anakin stiffened in Obi-Wan's arms.
"Because I swore to your mother and Qui-Gon that I would watch over you and make sure that you achieved your dream of becoming a Jedi," Obi-Wan said, pulling away from the injured Jedi.
"What have I done?" Anakin began to tremble. "Everything Chancellor Palpatine said...it made so much sense when I heard him...I..."
"Palpatine used you, Anakin," Obi-Wan said, pulling the Jedi back into a hug, "He used us all..."
"But I killed almost everybody in the Jedi Temple, Obi-Wan..." Anakin trembled violently, "I killed them all...like the Tusken Raiders...they didn't deserve it...the children...younglings..."
"Wait...almost?" Obi-Wan asked, pulling away from Anakin.
"I gave a group of infants...they were going to be trained as Force-sensitive assassins for the Empire..." Anakin trembled, tears streaming down his pale cheeks.
"Let's get you and your wife to safety," Obi-Wan said, "Then we'll worry about the younglings..."
Anakin nodded, trembling still. "I'm going to put you into a healing trance to ease your injuries," Obi-Wan spoke, laying Anakin flat on his back, and watched as Anakin seemed to go into a deep sleep.
Chapter 1-Part 2: A New Enemy
Venator 2-Class Star Destroyer Resolute, 19 BBY
Anakin groaned as he slowly regained consciousness and found himself lying down in the Resolute's medical room. He slowly pulled himself to a seated position with both hands. "What the..." Anakin breathed, looking down at his two hands, one mechanical and one flesh, and 2 full legs attached to his hips.
"The medical droid needs to see if the nerves are set up right, my fellow Jedi," Obi-Wan said from his seat beside the table. "Welcome back, old friend. I've missed you."
"How long have I been out?" Anakin asked as the droid moved to his side and began adjusting his right wrist.
"You've been out for more than an entire week," Obi-Wan said, "give or take a few cycles."
"Is Padme okay?" Anakin asked, his eyes widening in worry.
"She's...doing well," Obi-Wan glanced around the room. "Can he walk?" Obi-Wan asked the droid.
"Stand by, please," the droid spoke, moving to his right leg and stabbing it with a needle, making Anakin yelp and jump. Unaffected, the droid moved to his other leg and repeated the process. "He appears to be fully functional, Master Kenobi."
"Let's go," Anakin spoke, hopping on his feet, only to have him hold on to Obi-Wan to steady himself.
"You should be balanced in a moment, Master Skywalker," the droid spoke before rolling away.
"Wait, where's Padme?" Anakin said, gripping Obi-Wan's arm.
"Alright, fine, just...be prepared..." Obi-Wan said, leading the still limping Jedi to Padme's room.
After having a private conversation with his wife, Admiral Yularen's voice boomed over the ship's P.A system saying, "Anakin Skywalker, please report to the Resolute's war room immediately."
"I'm sorry darling," Anakin spoke, "I am needed elsewhere."
Meanwhile, at the War Room...
The Resolute's war room was bustling with energy as Jedi, Clones, officers, and opposition leaders were all having different conversations at once. The doors opened and Anakin walked into the room.
"General," Captain Rex called out.
"What is it, Rex?" Anakin spoke.
"Senator Organa wants to speak with you," Rex continued, "he has something important to say."
"General Skywalker," Bail Organa Spoke. "We have a new enemy."
"What is it?" Anakin spoke, "Who are we talking about?"
"Approximately a day after the execution of Order 66," Senator Organa continued, "We received a Holonet transmission from the Senate Rotunda on Coruscant. R2, play it."
R2's holoprojector flickered on and Anakin's eyes widened in fear as Chancellor, now Emperor Palpatine spoke about the Jedi being traitors to the Republic, being responsible for the Clone Wars, and more galactic conflicts.
But Palpatine's final words shocked Anakin. "To ensure security and continuing stability, the Galactic Republic will be reorganized into the first Galactic Empire for a safe and secure society!"
"We need to stop this man, Senator Organa!" Anakin exclaimed, "Obi-Wan told me that this man, Chancellor Palpatine single-handedly started the Clone Wars! It was he who created the C.I.S! And it was he who manipulated everybody into this mess!"
"There is nothing we could do, General Skywalker," Senator Organa said sadly, "he has control over the entire Republic. And besides, he controls the Galactic Senate, which means that there is no way of impeaching him."
"What are we going to do?" Anakin complained, "We're outnumbered and outgunned by the Republic, now Empire's Imperial Star Destroyers!"
"Don't worry," a new voice spoke over the ship's P.A system, "meet me in the conference room, we'll think about something."
