Angel's voice.
"Yes, Cody, with her, we can do it, let's form a band," said Trent with his trademark smile.
But as the guitarist end the sentence, a pair of security guards from the mall began to talk with the mysterious singer. After a moment, the three were walking away from the crowd.
"Trent, they are taking her away!" shouts Cody, trying to make his way through the people.
Both got out of the crowd and began to run in the direction the security guards went, but they lost their track behind a closed door with the sign 'Authorized personnel only.'
"Damn it," said Trent trying to open the door, but it was locked.
"Man, keep your cool, I have a plan," said Cody smiling.
Then he took out a toonie[2] and began to knock the door with it.
"Really, man? That's your plan?" said Trent raising an eyebrow.
"Yep, wait and see," said Cody with a smug smile.
After a moment, a big, muscular mall cop opened the door, he had short black hair, black eyes, and a full goatee, and was scowling at Cody.
"How can I help you?" said the man in a deep and menacing voice.
"Well, a moment ago," Cody reads the name batch of the mall cop, "Robert, you take away our friend, so I want to know if you can take us to her."
"The singer chick? Sorry, but we have banned her from the mall, is not the first time we had problems with her, so look for her outside," said Robert turning away to close the door.
"Oh no, that's a problem, before you go, can you tell us her name?" said Cody showing a friendly smile, Trent behind him face slapping.
"I think you said she was your friend?" said the man in a louder voice and raising an eyebrow.
Cody, at that moment, realizes his error and panicked, his mind going blank, luckily Trent jumps to help him.
"Sorry, we are not really her friends, we are her fans, and we wanted to meet with her, can you tell us her contact information?" said Trent lowering his head.
"Are you crazy, I can't just-" Robert blinked a couple of times, his eyes wide with excitement "wait a moment, you are that guitar guy from the Drama Brothers?"
"Yes?, Yes, yes, I am Trent," answer Trent surprised that someone recognizes him.
"My girl is a big fan of your group, she forced me to go to the finals of the Toronto high school Fes last year, you all were quite impressive, especially," Robert looks at the air with sparkling eyes before adding "Justin."
"Well, we were thinking of including this singer chick in our next performance, can you tell us about her?" asked Trent.
"Sorry Trent, we don't take her contact information, her name is Eleonore Rollin, she has put these impromptu performances three times this month, but I don't know anything else," said Robert rubbing his neck.
"Don't worry, Robert, this is enough, thanks," said Trent showing his signature smile.
"Before you go, I had a favor to ask you, can you get me Justin's autograph?" said excited Robert, before adding in a more normal voice, with a hand on his mouth, "is for my daughter."
"You got it, Robert," said Cody pointing at the big man with finger guns.
Both go out of the mall trying to found the singer to no avail.
"Why is that nobody recognizes me on the street? I was also one of the Drama Brothers," said Cody, kicking a can on the street.
"Is the cap, man, you are like Superman, without the cap and the sunglasses nobody recognizes you," said Trent trying to comfort him.
"Yes, is surely the cap," Cody chuckles, and return to their main concern, "and also there are no signs of the mysterious Eleonore."
"Is a shame, this girl is what I was looking for, Cody, her voice was so full of passion and joy," said Trent, sighing.
"And she is beautiful too," said Cody with a dreamy smile on his face.
"Yes, she is," Trent also smiles, thinking about her, "but how can we found her now?"
"Do you forget who I am, Trent? I am the Codemeister. If she is a pretty chick, I can found her. Let's go home, I will call you tonight or tomorrow morning with whatever I can find."
"You are right Codemesiter, how can I forget about it, I leave it to you," said Trent, bumping fist with Cody before parting ways.
Cody goes back to his home and turns on his customized laptop, he built it as a gamer computer, but since joining the band, he doesn't have much time for games.
"Ok, looking for the statistical information, there are 112 families registered in Toronto area with the surname Rollin, of them there is no one with the name Eleonore Rollin, but there are 10 E Rollin," Cody then began to look the data.
He entered the location information and look into the available public information of all the Rollins, Facebook accounts, Instagram accounts, any public, semi-public information he could access. Using a program he develops, he scans the links and parses the information quickly. But she wasn't anywhere.
Then after 5 hours, 2 liters of mountain dew and 1 monster can, he found her, at least her trail, she was in a photo of a girl called Irene Rollin, the image was dated 11 months ago.
"Me and Ella on her first high school day in Toronto," read aloud Cody with a proud smile on his face.
Irene's status said she was now studying in America, so calling her could be a problem. Also, it could be not only suspicious but also creepy.
But the photo gives Cody more information. She was dressed in the marine and white uniform of the Portlands Highschool in south Toronto.
Cody takes out his phone, "well, with this information, I can found her, but I would need his help."
It was Sunday morning, Trent was in his house writing some ideas for new songs, he was impatient, Cody wasn't sent any message, so he hasn't found Eleonore, but he will, in all these years Cody always keep his word.
Trent met Cody in the daycare, Cody was small and nervous, Trent was a little bigger and more confident, but they became fast friends and studied together until middle school, then they drifted apart until high school when they formed the Drama Brothers.
Forming the band was Trent's idea, but after all that happened with Harold, he was not sure of wanting to be on a group again. Hearing Eleonore singing changed everything, he recovered the inspiration to make music. But even with the three-
His phone received a new message, it was from Cody.
"Found her, she will probably be in Riverdale park west at 13:00 pm," reads the message from Cody.
Trent looked at the hour, 12:00 pm.
"Man, you are Awesome! I have my mom's car, pick you up right now," writes Trent.
Trent takes his guitar and his leather jacket, and gets in her mother's Black Accord 2013, it was an old car, but it has never broken, and Trent loves it.
Trent and Cody arrive at the park at 13:10, it was a sunny day, Cody was the first to get out of the car looking around.
"The park is quite big, are you sure she will be here?" asked Trent looking around.
"Yes, my sources were quite confident about her location, so don't be nervous. We will find our singer," said Cody winking at Trent.
"You are right, sorry about that, you know sometimes I-" but the guitarist was cut by his friend.
"Sheesh! Hear that? Is she! Come on, follow me," said Cody with a big grin on his face running toward the trees.
Cody runs faster than Trent and goes into the trees on the park, there in the woods was the girl, dressed in almost the same princess-like dress, but today was blue instead of pink.
Cody was stunned by the scene, so he keeps watching her, waiting for Trent, who arrives a moment after, also getting stunned by what he saw.
Ella was singing, it was a song about a boyfriend kisser, but the silly lyrics was not what impresses them. She was surrounded by animals, raccoons, squirrels, birds, and rabbits, dancing with her.
"Man, are you seeing what I'm seeing?" said Trent, astonished.
"I hope you are talking about the dancing animals because if not, my allergy medication is provoking me hallucinations," said Cody, also astonished.
She ends her song and looks at the two visitors, she smiles at them and makes a curtsy.
"Good Afternoon! I hope my song did not bother you," said Eleonore.
"Hello, my name is Cody, and this is Trent," said Cody walking to her.
"My name is Eleonore, but my friends call me Ella, I am pleased to meet you, Mister Cody, Mister Trent," said Ella with a big smile.
"Hello, Ella, we heard you sing, and I have to say you have a beautiful voice," said Trent.
"Oh, thank you, I love singing, I watched Camp TV the musical season and was so wonderful and full of songs, I wanted to take part on the new season, but alas, it was not mean to be," said Ella looking a little sad.
"So your songs come from a reality show?" asks Trent, perplexed.
"Yes, of course, I have memorized all of them. Do you want to hear one in particular? I also know every Disney song if you prefer," said Ella holding her own hands excitedly.
"Maaaaybe later," said Cody rubbing his neck.
"We were in the mall yesterday, and we fall in love with your voice, is so full of joy and passion," said Trent smiling.
Ella giggles, "So you saw my one-person flash mob? how embarrassing, I was walking in the mall and decide to sing, but it bothered the poor security guards, so now I am banned from entering the mall," said Ella looking at the ground.
"It's a shame they don't appreciate your voice. We instead wanted to ask you something, we are forming a band, would you like to join it as a singer?" said Trent, extending his hand to her.
"Oh my goodness, me? On a music band? Oh no, ce serait impossible[3]," said Ella, blushing.
Trent felt his heart sink into his boots, "Are you already in another group?"
"Oh no, I do not, but I am not a good singer, I do not have the talent to sing on public," said Ella looking again at the ground, but this time with tears on her eyes.
"What are you saying? You have a wonderful and tender voice, I have assisted many shows and competitions, and you must have one of the best voices I have ever heard," said Cody, shocked by what she said.
"Oh, Mister Cody, right? You are so kind, but my friends said I cannot sing, my voice is annoying and bothersome, so I cannot be in your band, I will only hinder you," said Ella with a sad smile, "Thanks for invi-"
"NO! I don't accept it," Trent interrupts her, his green eyes were blazing with determination, "Ella, Do you love singing?"
Ella was startled by the sudden question, "Oui, more than anything."
"Then join us, we love how you sing, let's make music together," Trent said, looking into her eyes.
"I, I would love to accept your kind offer, if you really are fine with me," said Ella smiling, but tears rolling across her cheeks.
"Welcome, Ella, it will be fun, and just call me Cody," said Cody, giving her a handkerchief, "now come with us, let's eat something so we can tell you about the band."
Ella dries her tears, and they decided to discuss their plans at Burger McFlipster's.
The four of them were sharing the same table while discussing the future of the band with some french fries and drinks.
"Why is Justin here?" asked Trent looking daggers at the male model.
"He helped us to find Ella, and also we need his autograph, so I invited him," explained Cody.
"He did?" replied Trent, shocked.
"Yes I did, I use my JFN(Justin's Fans Network) and ask the girls in Portlands High about Ella, then a girl I date 2 times remember seeing her on Sundays at the park," said Justin smiling and taking a sip of his diet soda "you are welcome" he added.
"I hate you," said Trent nonchalantly.
"I know," replies Justin.
Ella chuckles at Justin and Trent routine, "Hello Mister Justin, my name is Eleonore, but you can call me Ella, are you also a member of our band?"
"Oh no no, I retire from the music scene, I am now his," Justin keep silent a moment, "manager?"
"Not even in your wildest dreams," answer Trent sipping at his soda.
"He is our number 1 fan," said Cody.
"I can live with that," said Justin shrugging.
"So, what are we doing next?" asked Ella excitedly.
"Our plan is winning this," Cody takes out a silver envelope.
"Oh, that's shiny and beautiful, but what is it?" asked Ella, putting her index on her cheek.
"Is an invitation to the War of the Bands," said Trent, "A new reality show that begins this summer."
"Total Drama Network bought the rights of the regional music competitions and organized a nationwide amateur band show, 88 bands from all Canada compete for a prize of 100,000 dollars," said Cody, his eyes sparkling.
"Oh my goodness, I am not sure I understand everything but sound very important," said Ella with wide eyes.
"So they said," said Justin.
"There are 3 auditions, the first will reduce the 88 bands to 64, the second will reduce the bands to 32, and the third will leave only 8 bands to compete in the show," explained Cody.
"Because we are the Drama Brothers, We have a place among the 8 final bands, this silver envelope is that invitation," said Trent.
"Oh, what a shame, I would love to sing on those first auditions," said Ella, the other three looking at her with a puzzled expression.
"Anyway, after the auditions, we will be competing for 7 weeks against the finalist from the auditions. Each week we will have to perform a different theme for our songs and the band with the worst performance will be eliminated, the winner of the 7th week get the prize," said Cody excited, taking a drink from his milkshake.
"So we three are entering the competition, that's thrilling," said Ella clapping, and then taking a sip of her orange juice.
"No, we are not," said Trent.
"We are not?" asked Cody, surprised.
"No, for the concept I have in my mind, we need to be a full 5 members band, we have a voice, guitar, and bass, so ideally, I would like another guitar and percussion, preferable drums," said Trent.
"I can play the tambourine, that's percussion," said Justin with a smirk.
"Justin, we are serious," said Trent glaring at the eye candy.
"You will get wrinkles for frowning that much," said Justing taking another sip of his drink.
Trent sighs, "So we need to find another guitarist and a drummer, preferably with experience, but right now, we cannot be picky, because we need to inscribe the team before next Friday."
"Oh my goodness, we are almost out of time," said Ella putting her hands on her cheeks, "sorry, but I do not know anyone that could play with us."
"I have a friend that can fill the guitar spot, but I am not sure you want him in the band," said Cody with a hand on his chin.
"Why? Is he inexperienced?" asked Trent.
"No, he is a sick player, one of the best I know," said Cody smiling.
"Then what is the problem, I am sure we will be happy about having your friend on the band," said Ella.
"The problem is that he was just released from the juvie, he is a delinquent," said Cody, looking serious at the rest of his friends.
[1] Thanks to Gideoncrawle, reading his work, I get this idea, he is the author of The Legend of Total Drama Island, which is a darker reimagination of Total drama island in Gilbert and Sullivan style. One of the smartest adaptation I ever read. Is not everyone cup of tea, but give it a chance.
[2]is the local name for the 2 dollar coin in Canada.
[3] That would be impossible, in French, expect Ella to speak on French when she is excited, angry, or scared.
Ella is in, and they need 2 more members into the band, what will happen? Find out next week.
Also, thanks to Patwhit01, he is the one that comes originally with the idea of making Ella from Quebec, I only ask permission to use it. If you don't know him, he is the author of Mansion Mclean, a competitive season after PI, a nice story. He chooses some great characters, if you like competitive seasons, give him a chance.
As always, thanks for reading and I hope you like it.
