The dull ringing of the phone woke Sandy up unpleasantly. She threw her arm around her night table franticly to pick it up as her eyes adjusted to daylight. After a few failed attempts of knocking her lamp and alarm clock over she finally made contact with her desired object. Sandy pulled the receiver to her face as she sat up in bed and yawned. "Hello?" She quested in a scrappy voice, as she noted her dry throat and the urge for a drink to quench it.

"Hey! Glad I was able to catch you!" The cocky male on the other end of the phone spoke lively.

"Hey, Static." She managed before coughing. Sandy then found her water bottle, still standing, on her night stand and took a drink. Sandy let out a fulfilled sigh as the cool water coated her mouth and then throat. She leaned back in bed as she listened to her friend on the other end of the line.

"You ok?" The male squirrel questioned with concern.

Sandy closed her eyes and played with the tuffs of fur on her head, with her free hand. "I'm fine. Thanks." She sighed. She was happily distracted at the moment, and for once was ready to let Static talk her ear off for as long as he'd like.

"Alright, well how'd you like to go check out my friend's new karaoke gig tonight? I couldn't help but hope a classy lady, such as yourself, would accompany me to support another friend." Static's grin could almost be felt through his smooth words.

Sandy laughed to herself at his statement. She wasn't aware of any classy girls that participated in karaoke. However, she would usually love such an outing, and despite her current down mood she knew she should get out. Static was pretty good at keeping her in an uplifted mood, when he wasn't creeping her out by pushing boundaries. "Alright. Sounds fun." She let out a lite laugh.

"GREAT!" Static swooned with far too much enthusiasm. "I'll pick you up in an hour!"

"An hour?!" Sandy asked confused.

" Yeah. 5 O'clock." The male replied

Sandy's jaw dropped, and her eyes shot open, at the fact she had slept the whole day away. "umm… ok! See ya then." She then hung up the phone before the purple furred squirrel was able to respond.

After rubbing her hands up and down her face for a minute Sandy bent down and picked up her lamp and clock she had knocked off her table earlier. She then walked into the bathroom and took a long look at the mirror. It was pretty obvious she'd been crying for some time. She shook her head in disgust while looking at herself as she stripped down and jumped into the shower.

She was strong. She kept telling herself that over and over in her head as she washed up. Sandra Cheeks wasn't about to be defeated by some silly crush, she thought as she shut off the water and grabbed a towel to dry herself off. She didn't need him… she didn't need anyone. She was indestructible!

Her heart sank again after slamming the door to her lone bather room and walking to her small bedroom to dress up. She was just thankful she was able to hold off the tears as she dressed in worn blue jeans and a purple long sleeve V-neck top. She threw on a white hoody just in case the cold picked up again. It was mid-April and the weather in Chicago was fairly chilly companied to what she was use to growing up.

Not long after she had finished dressing and grabbing a snack there was a knock at her door. She opened it to find Static grinning in the door way with roses. He was wearing a dark blue suit with a bright yellow dress shirt. Shit bright pink tie stood out quite wildly. She just giggled as he handed the flower to her, as she admired his wardrobe. "Thanks." She looked down shyly realizing he was the only man who'd ever shown interest in her. "Very sweet of ya." She looked back up at him as he took her hand and lead her out to his black 67' Dodge Challenger.
