"There's no fucking way that's true!" shouted Jeremiah, getting angry. Why the fuck would she joke around like this in the circumstances.
" I know this is a big shock but there is no need for that language!" replied Freya calmly. She was used to dealing with this stuff. Jeremiah burst into tears. Freya rushed around the table and comforted her muttering things like, "I know!" and "Its such a massive shock!" This remined Jeremiah of her mother and made her cry more. She had to grow up now. Her dad was stupid, even if he was Adam Levine and famous. She had to look after herself now. She gathered herself up and took a deep breath. Freya smiled.
"Right well I went to your old house and gathered your main essential items to take to your dad's house." said Freya, gesturing to a duffel bag in the corner. Jeremiah nodded.
"When is my dad going to collect me?" asked Jeremiah
"In about 3 minutes, he should knock on this door." said Freya, smiling. Jeremiah almost passed out. She didn't even know him. She'd never met him before! This was going to be so fucking awkward. She sighed impatiently. She wasn't going to deal with this shit.
"Can I change into some different clothes, these have blood on them?" asked Jeremiah. Freya nodded and signalled towards the bathrooms. Jeremiah picked up the duffel bags and headed towards the bathrooms. She changed into a black and white stripy crop top and some short shorts. Then she put on her makeup and she looked older. She walked back to her chair and plonked herself down. She noticed Freya's shocked face.
A couple of minutes later there was a knock on the door. Jeremiah's heart jumped, she pushed it back down. Freya shouted open and non other than Adam Levine walked in. The first thing Jeremiah noticed was how similar they were. They both had deep hazel eyes, slim physique and dark brown hair. However, Jeremiah had a darker shade of skin, more tanned.
Adam smiled but Jeremiah looked the other way and put her nose in the air. Jeremiah stood up, shoved her chair under and picked up her duffel bag.
"Are we going then?" she shouted impatiently. Adam and Freya shared a look, meaning 'teenagers.'
Adam shrugged and offered to carry her bag. She scowled and pushed it in the opposite direction.
"Well thank you for looking after Jeremiah in ……." Adam started.
"Don't say my name you twat. You couldn't be bothered for thirteen years so don't start now." said Jeremiah angrily.
"My bad. Didn't realise I created such a bitch but oh well. Thanks you for caring for her in my absence." he continued, smiling at Freya. Jeremiah glared at him.
They walked to the car in silence. Jeremiah didn't care, she preferred it this way. She noticed Adam glancing at her a couple of times.
"Y'know this ain't gonna work if you keep being a sassy little shit." He said.
" I don't give a fuck because your not my dad!" Jeremiah shouted.
"YES WELL I'M THE GUY WHO'S HOUSE YOUR GONNA LIVE IN SO I EXPECT SOME RESPECT!" Adam shouted. Jeremiah was shocked so she stuck up her middle finger.
At that point Adam couldn't take it any more, he burst into tears. Jeremiah felt really bad.
"Dad I'm sorry. I was just upset that you only chose to come into my life when my mom drank bleach." she said, rubbing his arm awkwardly. Adam stopped crying.
"W-w-wait what did you just say?" Adam sniffed.
"Ummm ….. I said I was upset because ……" she started.
"No, no, no. Before that." Adam interrupted.
"Er ….. I said I'm sorry dad?" she said uncertainly. She saw Adam's eyes glow up.
"You called me dad!" exclaimed Adam, smiling.
"Umm yeah I did dad. Is that ok?" she asked.
"Yeah! Of course babes! I love you!" said Adam, excitedly pulling her in for a hug.
"I'm sorry I shouted and swore but I've had a really stressed day, I didn't even know I had a daughter until a couple of hours ago." Adam explained. Jeremiah nodded and held him closer.
Maybe, just maybe this will work out, Jeremiah thought.
