Kosuke walked over to a chair and sat in it, looking at the Third Hokage.
"Why did you promote me to Genin if I was a total stranger to you?" he asked.
"Well, If you want to go to the Academy for a day, you will see why I promoted you to Genin," said the Third Hokage.
"Sure! I'd love to go to the Academy, even for a day!" exclaimed Kosuke excitedly, hopping out of the chair he was sitting in.
"Well then, let's go!" said the Hokage, stepping outside the room, with Kosuke on his tail. They walked to the Ninja Academy.
The Hokage pushed open the door to a classroom and walked in. He then whispered something to the teacher, who nodded, looking through the doorframe at Kosuke, who was still out of sight from the other students inside.
"Class, as of today, we are going to be welcoming a new member to our class, Kosuke." the teacher said, gesturing to the door.
Kosuke took a deep breath and walked inside the classroom. He stood in the center and waved.
"Thanks, Iruka Sensei, can I go find a seat now?" said Kosuke, who was calm on the outside, but overwhelmingly happy on the inside.
"Sure Kosuke, you can take a seat right there," Iruka Sensei pointed. "Right next to our class troublemaker, Naruto." At the mention of Naruto's name, many students giggled.
"Hey! What are you laughing about?" exclaimed an indignant Naruto, jumping out of his seat, right as Kosuke sat down.
"Sit down, Naruto," said Kosuke in an icy tone, prompting the young blond to sit down at once at his voice. The collective class shivered, for the tone that Kosuke used was one of power.
"Okay, so now we are going to take the exams!" Iruka said, to many students' protests. He handed out an exam paper to each one of the students.
Kosuke scanned the problems, then wrote down the answers without any difficulty. He then got out of his seat and handed his exam paper to a very shocked Iruka.
As the rest of the class finished their own written exams, with Naruto being the last one to finish, Iruka Sensei made an announcement. "Now, who can demonstrate to the class a clone Jutsu?" Kosuke immediately raised his hand.
"Kosuke, as you are the newest student, I need to make sure that you are caught up. How about you come up and show us the clone Jutsu to let me know that you are caught up?" Iruka said.
Smirking, Kosuke walked up to the front of the class. "Which type of clone Jutsu?" he asked a very surprised Iruka.
"Well, I would prefer that you use the regular clone Jutsu, but the Shadow Clone Jutsu is also fine," said Iruka, still recovering from the shock of that statement.
Kosuke turned to the front of the class. Weaving a cross-fingered hand seal, he said, "Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
Iruka said, "Wait! That's a Forbidden Technique!" and walked towards Kosuke. Suddenly, ten clones blocked his path, and ten more flanked him on the other side, making a total of twenty clones. Iruka had to take a seat at this, because not only were this kid's prowess in Jutsu better than a Chunin's, but he had enough chakra to make at least TWENTY shadow clones? That was a mean feat.
As he walked back to his seat, he got looks from the class, and many muttered "Show-off" under their breaths. Kosuke did not pay attention to these looks, and sat down in his seat, next to an astounded Naruto.
"Well students, you just witnessed an Academy student perform an S-Rank technique, and one better than most Jonin could do," announced Iruka to a very shocked class.
"AN S-CLASS TECHNIQUE?" was the general response, as the class slowly turned their piercing stares onto Kosuke.
"Ummm guys, what are you looking at me for?" said Kosuke, weaving a one-handed seal. He disappeared.
"Where is Kosuke?" asked Iruka to the class. The class could only shrug at the question. Then, a voice spoke up.
"He's behind you, Iruka Sensei," said the low voice of Sasuke Uchiha, the best student in the class.
Iruka turned around, only to see a grinning Kosuke hanging from the ceiling.
"Wha-what? How did you get up there?" asked Iruka, shocked for the second time that day.
"Simple!" Kosuke said, hopping off the ceiling and righting himself. "I used the Body Flicker to get up there and then I walked up the wall onto the ceiling! It's really easy, I bet every one of you here, except for that person," he said, pointing at Naruto, who instantly leaped up, "could do it."
"Why not me? Naruto asked with an angry expression on his face.
"It's because you have the worst chakra control in the class," said Kosuke, who was practically teaching the class for Iruka by this point. Walking back to his seat, he called out, "Hey Iruka Sensei, could you tell us what the test results were?"
"Ahhh sure," said an astounded Iruka. "In last place, is Naruto Uzumaki, once again." Iruka then called out multiple student's names before stopping on the top two.
"Shockingly, in first place, is..." Iruka paused. "Kosuke Tanaka! And in second place, is our very own Sasuke Uchiha! Come up and get your test papers!" called out Iruka.
Kosuke walked up and took his paper from Iruka, while Sasuke took his paper and crumpled it into a ball.
"Stupid Kosuke... How could he ever beat ME, the top student in the class?" Sasuke muttered under his breath.
"And now, you may come up and get your forehead protectors!" announced Iruka, to the delight of many students in the class. "Starting with a special forehead protector for Kosuke, as he is not from the Leaf Village!"
Many students were confused at this announcement, as they looked at Kosuke walking down the aisle. He put on his jet-black headband with a strange sphere in the middle, and tightened it over his forehead. Walking back to his seat, he received jealous and confused looks from his new classmates, Naruto in particular.
"You're not from the Leaf?" asked Naruto after he received his own headband.
"No, I'm from..." Kosuke paused while trying to think up an excuse to where he came from. "The Uzumaki Clan."
Naruto was delighted. "So I have a cousin! That's great!" he said excitedly, hugging Kosuke, who could only smile. After all, it WAS a good explanation, given his mysteriously large chakra reserves.
"Well, let's go outside and train!" said Kosuke, to Naruto's delight.
"Will you teach me that Shadow Clone Jutsu?" Naruto asked him.
"Sure! You are the only other one in the village that has chakra reserves comparable to mine," replied Kosuke, walking towards the door.
Sasuke was standing in his path. "I don't know where you came from, you nobody, but I WILL beat you up when I get stronger," said Sasuke.
"Ehhh, you'll never get that strong, not by going to Orochimaru," said Kosuke absentmindedly, before clapping a hand over his mouth. "I can't tell you that right now," said Kosuke, and he walked out of the door, with Naruto in tow.
