Episode 1 - Guardians From Above

From above the Earth, there is a dimension of light. The inhabitants that lived there had been watching over the Earth for centuries. Setting them on the right path but never fully interfering with them. But now, things would have to change. In their city, there was a large building that looked like a kind of temple. On the inside was an old aged man with long grey hair and a beard, wearing a cloak. He seemed to be looking out at the sky and thinking that something was wrong. His expression was troubled. A loud screech echoed out through the room and the door opened. 5 people walked on in. Walking up to the man in the cloak, they bowed down. The main person in front said, "You summoned us Gosei?"

"Indeed Nathan," he replied. Turning back towards the 5 of them, he explained, "I sense an enemy coming from far away. One that the Earth will be defenseless against. You are our finest warriors despite your young age. I have chosen you to go down to the Earth and fight against these incoming forces."

They were all surprised as they all shared looks of confusion to each other. Looking up at their master, a young lady questioned, "But sir, I thought it was forbidden for us to go down to the Earth. Let alone in their society."

"I know, Selena, but now we must abandon our old ways," he answered her. "We wouldn't be sending you if there was any other option. The council trusts in your spirit and courage. As chosen guardians, we give you these."

Facing his hand towards them and using a fraction of his awesome power, 5 large devices and a deck of cards appeared in front of each of them. "These weapons will help protect you and aid you in overcoming any obstacle that comes in your path."

Looking towards the two on the right, he told those two, "Nathan, Selena. Your power will be that of the sky." They nodded in return as they took their deck and device.

"We'll do our best." Nathan said.

"And we won't let you down." Selena agreed.

Looking towards the two siblings in the middle, he told them, "Kai, Mari. Your power will be that of the Earth."

Taking theirs, Kai said, "This will be a piece of cake."

"You say that about everything, and that's only true a quarter of the time," Mari replied, raising an eyebrow.

Looking to the last of them, Gosei said, "Derek, your power will be that of the water." He didn't have anything to say as he merely took his device and nodded at their master.

He knew that this wasn't going to be easy as he told his students, "Everything you have been taught has led up to this. Be safe, and I wish you the best of luck." As they left the room, there was a bright light outside. And as the master looked back up to the sky, he could sense the enemy coming.

Two weeks had passed since the five children had left their homes and gone down to the Earth. On this day, it seemed to be entirely normal - a sunny day in early spring. The wind was still strong as they pulled the winds of the trees. Up north in Harwood County, there was a small town, it was the early afternoon as the sun was shining above in the sky. Alongside the road, there was a young boy riding his bike, simply moving on the side of the road. Going into town, he drove up to his school. Stepping off the bike, he removed his helmet. Taking a look around, the wind began to pick up. It was the beginning of a new day.

Harwood County Middle School, a place of education and learning. One of the largest and most known in the state. Of course, for most young kids, this was a place they did not like half of the time for simple reasons.

Going up to the front of the school, the young boy put his bike down and locked as he heard a student's voice say, "Oh hi Mark."

Mark turned his head to see who it was and replied, "Oh hey Jack." He had brownish blonde hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a black and white sweater over a T-Shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes.

"Me and the guys were going to head over to the arcade today. Would you like to come?" Mark's classmate brought up and asked.

He took a minute to consider it as he replied, "I'd like to, but I don't know."

"Okay. Well at least think about it. It'd be fun," Jack replied.

"Great. Well, we better head on inside or we'll never hear the end of it from Mr. Wheeler."

"Good point, let's go." Mark agreed. Readjusting his backpack, the two headed on into the school building. The school life was a simple one, but soon enough, that would change.

From higher ground, a man was watching over the area. He was wearing a black leather jacket, and red T-shirt and jeans. He had brown hair and brown eyes. Looking at everything, a small smile left his face. "The earth is as beautiful as you imagined, Master," the young man said to himself. "No wonder you wanted to protect it."

He felt like he could watch the city all day. But unfortunately, he would not get the chance, then getting an incoming transmission from his morpher. Taking it out, the young man announced, "I'm here, what's up?"

"Hey, it's Selena. Everything seems all quiet here. We're all going to meet up to discuss everything."

"Got it. I'll be right there," Nathan said. Jumping off the building, he landed on his feet. 'Time to get to work,' he thought to himself.

Above the Earth's atmosphere, a large grey spacecraft appeared coming out of a planet. The inside was shaded and dark by the walls, however, there was some slight visibility as they passed the moon and could see the Earth below them. From up in a high chair, the commander of the ship could get a good look at the small blue planet. "So, this is the Earth I've heard so much about." His smooth but slightly sarcastic voice said. "How pitiful. It makes me wonder why known forces like Lord Zedd, Rita Repulsa, and Astronema were not able to conquer it." His body was a grey armor lined in blue, especially on his arms and legs, his shoulders having different but broad shoulder blades and his eyes a bright blue.

"Best if you do not underestimate them, General," another voice said. His body was scaled and cracked, looking brown and orange, his chest covered in a silver armor. Glowing red eyes out of his green bug like ones. He also had sharp teeth, blades under his arms, and what looked like spikes on his back.

"Perhaps you're right, Mandator," Brander said. He then stood up and questioned, "Admiral Mons Drake. What is this planet's known defenses?"

"Little to none, from what I can see. The only known defenders from this planet, known as the Power Rangers, are long gone," he replied. His body was dark green and scale-like and he had yellow eyes, a silver chest piece, two large yellow feathers on top of his head and a large flamboyant cape.

"Excellent," Brander replied, "Then this will be a piece of cake." He then ordered, "Send an Warstar with a squad of Buggers."

"Yes, my lord," they replied, getting to work. With their plan set in motion, the Earth's time of peace would soon be shaken up by an alien invasion.

Downtown in the city, at what the humans called a mall, a large building filled with many stores, the other guardians had spread out. At the center, there was a place to eat with many restaurants around. Over at one of the tables, Derek was concerned on the book he was reading with his legs crossed and sitting on the side of the seat not paying attention to anyone around him. He had long dark hair and blue eyes, wearing a long sleeve blue and grey shirt and tan pants. "Interesting," he commented with a hint of intrigue.

Taking over two trays was Selena as she had food and drinks for the group of them. She had a big smile across her face as if she didn't give a care in the world. She had long red hair and brown eyes. Her choice of clothes being a pink jacket with a white shirt underneath and black skirt.

"What is it?"

"According to this book, the Earth's greatest resources are that of the sun and water. They use them to preserve the green organic systems on this planet. Those plants would be used as other resources such as medicine and paper."

"Yes. So interesting." Selena replied sarcastically with an eyebrow slightly raised. Not being interested in how Derek was learning about what the Earth had to offer. She also wondered "Where's Nathan? I told him to meet up with us about an hour ago."

"One hour, 23 minutes, and 56 seconds ago more like." Derek corrected. "If he shows up in the next 10 minutes. That'd be a new record for him."

"Either way, late is late." Another male voice called out. He had brown hair that was short but extended over his forehead. He wore a black jacket and blue jeans. He was Kai of the guardians as he walked up to Selena and Derek. "The guy was always known to wander off or get distracted."

"Well this planet has a lot to offer. Maybe he just wanted to take a look around." Selena suggested.

"Yeah whatever." He then took a look around and saw that one of them was missing. "Where's Mari?"

"Oh. While you wanted to look around for any possible 'threats', your sister went off and I think she made a friend." Selena explained as she pointed off to the side.

Taking a look, he could point her out with her brown hair and brown eyes. Wearing her mother's necklace and choice of clothes of a yellow sweater, white tank top, and blue short jeans. She was next to two boys that seemed to be talking and trying to make a move on her. Mari being oblivious and modest as she had an innocent smile on her face.

Letting out a humph, Jake walked over to them.

"So, you're new to town. So, I guess you haven't checked out any of the sites yet." One of the boys said.

"Sites? I don't get it but not really." Mari answered.

"Oh well in that case. I could give you the grand tour."

"Yeah right. I could give you the best time ever right here in the mall." The other boy said.

As Kai came over, he got in between them and Mari. Grabbing her by the arm. "Excuse me but me and my sister have some things to take care of."

"Ow! Hey, cut it out!" Mari said as Kai walked her away back to the others.

Letting her go, Kai asked "What do you think you're doing?"

"What?" She said raising an eyebrow and not knowing what the big deal was. "I got bored, so I just wanted to take a look at some of those rooms they call stores. Those two were just being nice and offered a 'tour'. Whatever that means."

"We're not here on a vacation Mari. We have a mission to complete."

"Yeah well last time I checked, no one said we couldn't enjoy our time down here."

"This isn't a game. I'm serious."

"Alright, fine. I get it." Mari said letting out a soft sigh.

"If you two are done arguing, come on and eat." Selena announced. The two siblings put their argument aside as they went on over to the table.

It was then that Nathan ran on over as he announced, "Sorry about that, I got held up."

"Uh huh. That's what you said the last three times." Mari replied with a maniacal smirk.

He could tell she was playing as he smirked back and replied, "Just doing my job as a guardian."

"Alright, now that we're all here. We can discuss a report on our time on Earth so far."

"Here we go all over again." Selena complained rolling her eyes.

"Hey, just be glad these have been fairly short." Mari told Selena.

"Actually, speaking of which, it's been too quiet. Gosei sent us here because he thought a threat was coming that we would need to handle. But we've been here for two weeks and I don't know about you guys, but everything seems peaceful here." Nathan stated to the group.

"Indeed. From the day we arrived, we've dealt with minor threats such as helping individuals with their own personal problems. But nothing on a magnitude of the entire planet being threatened." Derek agreed.

"Guess they decided to call it quits and went home." Kai thought out loud.

"Something tells me that isn't the case." Selena replied to him.

"Yeah, you're probably right." Kai said.

Before Nathan could say anything else, there was suddenly a loud explosion coming from afar. Going outside to see what was going on, the rangers could see the smoke and fire coming from the downtown area of the city. "You just had to jinx it didn't you." Mari commented slightly looking angrily at Kai.

"Not helping Mari." Kai retorted returning the glare.

"We need to go check that out." As they all agreed, the rangers ran off to get down to the city. This is where their real mission would begin.

Just a few minutes prior to the explosion, Mark had just come out of school for the day early and was currently chatting with one of his friends from school as they made their way to Mark's father restaurant for an after-school meal. Going by their bicycles making their way down on the sidewalk. "I'm telling you they actually exist. My dad knew this guy, who knew this guy, who knew this guy, who told me that he saw power rangers in dinosaurs like suits who saved him." Mark's friend went on to say.

"Do you even hear yourself? You're saying that people dress in brightly colored spandex protect cities using giants' robots. Next you're gonna be telling me that people can turn into giants or people use weird belts to transform into armor warriors." Mark ignoring his friend's ramblings.

"You're telling me that you don't believe in Power Rangers? They've been saving our lives since forever. You have to believe me." Mark friend said.

"I believe that I need to stop buying you comics for your birthday." Mark replied as they rode their bicycles towards the restaurant.

"They exist, I'm telling you they exist." Mark friend said in an exciting manner.

"Okay, I'll tell you what, if Rangers exist, then may chaos and total destruction breakout right before us so they can come save us?" Mark said in a sarcastic tone while waving his hands in the air. As if on command, a loud explosion coming from one of the buildings, followed by green human like creatures except they didn't have eyes on their heads but on their chest and black markings on their bodies.

"I should have asked for no school and a mountain of ice cream cake." Mark said before running like the wind with his friend to avoid the weird alien creatures.

The monsters continued their march, wrecking everyone thing like cars, cafe tables, and a couple of lampposts while everyone ran for their lives. As the main alien leader watched the humans run, he laughed and said "we've waited all this time for this? Taking over this planet will be too easy." Charging up a blast in his hand, the alien rapidly open fired on the city, causing more destruction. Himself continuing his laughter.

"Stop right there!" A voice suddenly called out before the alien could charge up another blast.

"What?" the alien said confused.

In front of his eyes, he could see a group of 5 teenagers approach him. Nathan, Selena, Mari, Kai, and Derek walking towards their forces unphased or afraid. "We won't allow you to destroy this town." Nathan said acting as the team's leader.

"Who do you think you are?" the alien demanded to know.

"Well funny you should ask that." Selena replied with a grin on her face.

"We are the protectors of this planet." Derek answered.

Pulling out their morphers, they opened the bottom mouth as they all said "Ready!" Pulling out one of the cards, they said "Transformation Card!" After they inserted the cards, they moved their arms and morpher around as they yelled "Heavenly wings, unfold!" Closing the morphers with the palm of their hands, their bodies were covered in a bright light.

Nathan and Selena were transported to a place that was nothing but air. They unfolded their wings and flew into the air while a dragon and Phoenix followed them. Red and pink aura energy surrounded Nathan and Selena transforming them into their ranger suits. The dragon and Phoenix caught up to them and merged with their heads becoming the ranger's helmets.

Kai and Mari were transported to the top of a mountain and their wings unfolded. They dove down the mountain as a snake and tiger chased after them. Black and yellow aura energy surrounding Kai and Mari transforming them into their ranger suits. The snake and tiger caught up to them and merged with their heads becoming the ranger's helmets.

Derek was transported to the open sea where he unfolded his wings and flew above the water while a shark chased after him. Blue aura energy surrounded Derek as he was transforming him into his ranger suits. The shark jumped into the air and merged with his head becoming Derek's helmets.

The light died down and the fives stood there in their ranger suits. From hiding behind a building with his friend, Mark was surprised that power rangers existed. Meanwhile the aliens were completely confused.

"What the?" The alien asked.

Nathan yelled, "Dragon power of the sky! Red Guardian Ranger!"

Selena yelled, "Phoenix power of the sky! Pink Guardian Ranger!"

Mari yelled, "Tiger power of the Earth! Yellow Guardian Ranger!"

Kai yelled, "Snake power of the Earth! Black Guardian Ranger!"

Derek yelled, "Shark power of the water! Blue Guardian Ranger!"

"From the land above, we come to serve. Power Rangers Angelic Guardians!" Nathan shouted as each of the rangers struck a pose.

Though they were surprised for the moment, the aliens would not be so easily scared off or threatened. Scoffing, the leader said, "So you got some fancy costumes. Child games are over." He then ordered the Buggers, "Get them!"

Nathan and the other rangers rushed at the Buggers with their blasters ready. Nathan blasted the Buggers while dodging some of their attacks. He pulled out a small red dragon head and attached it to the barrel of his blaster. He jumped into the air and aimed it the group of Buggers before pulling the trigger and firing it. The dragon head blasted off the blaster and zoomed around the Buggers in a circle slowly making the circle smaller. Once the circle was small enough the header rose into the air and slam down to the ground destroying the Buggers.

"You unearthly creatures will not harm the innocent people of this planet!" Nathan said. More Buggers came after the red ranger, so he reached to the side of his belt where he kept his deck and pull a card out that had a Nathan and Selena sky symbol on it.

"Sky card, hurricane force!" Nathan and Selena shouted as they inserted the cards into the morpher. Wind whirled around Nathan and Selena and suddenly, a large gust of wind blasted the Buggers sending them into a wall.

Derek jumped and spun avoiding the Buggers strikes. One came from behind to strike Derek in the back but before it could land a hit Derek turned and grabbed its weapon holding it.

"Amazing, this technology is far more advanced than anything I saw while on this planet." Derek said as he examined the Buggers weapon. Derek proceeded to flip the Loogie on its back before shooting the rest of them with his blaster. Derek rolled on the ground and attached a shark head to his blaster barrel. He fired it and a pair of large teeth appear and bit down on the Buggers.

Mari tackled a group of Buggers into a couple garbage cans. She pulled out a card from her deck and was about to insert it into her morpher when large stone arrows flew pass her and hit the Buggers. She looked behind her and saw her brother had already used one of his cards against the Buggers.

"Big bro, I had those guys!" Shouted Mari in frustration as she stomped her feet.

"Sure, you did." Kai replied sarcastically. He raised his blaster behind and blast the Buggers that were heading his way. "Just help me finish off these things."

"Fine, but not because you told me." Mari Said. The two siblings pulled out a black snake and yellow tiger head and attached them to their blaster. They pulled the triggers and the headers took off. The snake head wrapped around the Buggers trapping them in the circle. The tiger opened its mouth and chomped down on the Buggers.

"I could have done by myself." Mari said.

"Keep telling yourself that." Kai said.

Selena run along the top of some Cafe tables blasting the Buggers in sight while the Buggers tried to attack her. Selena flipped off the table and landed in front of the Buggers before blasting them. A few more Buggers were heading her way, so she pulled out a pink card from her deck and inserted it into her morpher.

"Sky card, typhoon wind!" Gust of wind blew around the Buggers, scooping them up in a sphere of air. With them trapped in the sphere she attached a Phoenix head to her blaster and aimed it at the Buggers. She fired and the Phoenix head zoomed toward the Buggers while creating a trail of wind and fire behind it that it used to make the sphere smaller and smaller as it zoomed around it, crushing the Buggers inside until they reduced to slime. With the Buggers destroyed all that was left was the lead alien.

"This is bad, our scanners didn't detect any protectors in this area. I must report back." Like that the Lead alien disappeared and with no threat left, the Rangers as they demorphed after watching the monster leave.

"Gone already, I was just starting to enjoy myself." Kai said.

"What were those aliens?" Mari asked.

"Whatever they are, they're gone for now. Let's report back to Gosei, maybe he'll know what to do." Nathan suggested. The others nodded in agreement and turned to leave when they finally noticed Mark who saw the whole thing. The rangers stopped dead in their tracks at the sight of the boy who had an expression of complete shock and confusion from what he had witnessed.

"You guys morphed, you all morphed like Power Rangers." Mark announced.

"No, we didn't." Selena said unconvinced.

"Yes, yes you did. You guys used those cards and weird head things to morph into your spandex." Mark countered.

"They're not spandex they're comprise matter made from this planet natural resource. I have water, the siblings here have earth, and these two have air. These weird head things are actually...my foot." Derek hopped on one leg while holding his other foot which was in hurt from Mari stepping on it.

"For someone who is supposed to be smart, you're an idiot. We're trying to convince him we aren't rangers." Mari grunted and replied.

"So, you guys are Rangers." Mark spoke. Mari, realizing her mistake, looked at the others for a solution. The others just shrugged their shoulders, except for Kai who walk over to Mark and drew a card. After inserting it into the morpher, pollen came from the morpher and into Mark's face giving him a sense of drowsiness. Mark struggled to keep his eyes open, but it was all in vain as Mark fell to the ground from the effect of the card. Kai then turned back to the others and found them giving him the 'What the hell' look.

"What?! He saw us, what I supposed to do?" Kai asked.

"We are in deep, deep trouble." Nathan said.

"Ya think?" Mari and Kai agreed and said together.

"There's not much we can do about it now and none of us have a card that could wipe his memories, so he forgets us." Derek concluded. "Let's just report the attack. Our job is far from over."

"You don't have to say that EVERYTIME." Selena commented raising an eyebrow.

"Whatever. Let's just get going." Derek replied.

Not leaving him on the floor, Nathan picked up Mark from the floor. "Umm, Nathan? What are you doing?" Mari questioned looking back at him.

"Well we can't just leave him here." He answered. "Plus, it's like we said. He's seen us, and if Gosei figures that out, we are going to be in a lot more trouble."

Nathan wasn't wrong as Derek agreed and said, "Indeed. I believe I have a solution. Bring the kid."

As they left with Mark, no one was left in the open field. The Guardian Rangers had successfully completed their first mission in protecting the city. However, that was far from the end of it. And now, their situation was… complicated, to say the least.

Later, back on Brander's ship, they had not heard of any progress of their initial assault on the Earth. Brander himself growing impatient and irritated not hearing anything as he waited impatiently from his command chair in silence. The quietness was finally broken by the sounds of footsteps approaching.

Turning around, Brander said "Finally. You've kept me waiting long enough."

It was Mandator and some Buggers with the monster who had retreated. Mandator then explained, "This vermon dared to return to the ship having been defeated."

Wanting an explanation, Brander looked down at the bowing monster and asked, "What happened?"

"I was eliminating the mass population in an unprotected city like you ordered, when I was met with resistance from unknown defenders." The monster explained. Mandator looked displeased at the monster's status report as he blasted the monster who moved out of the way at the last second, and the blast ended up destroying the Buggers.

"What do you mean resistance? Our agents clearly stated that this city didn't have any protectors." Brander questioned and said in a louder tone.

"That is what our sources initially revealed upon our initial attack. We were met with minimal resistance from this planet's law enforcement. These foes that appeared before us can only be described by what the humans call 'the Power Rangers.'"

Hearing that name was a little surprising to Brander and the other generals but they would not be scared so easily. Brander then ordered, "I do not care who they are. I want them eliminated. We cannot afford to fall short on our plans."

Standing back up from his kneeling position, the monster responded, "Yes, my lord." He then left to begin another strike upon the city.

Turning around to the front of the ship. Brander was slightly irritated as he backhanded and hit one of the Buggers who were standing in the control room. Looking down at the Earth from the window, Brander thought to himself, "Power Rangers. Don't make me laugh. We have waited so long for our chance on this planet, no one will stand in our way."

Mark slowly regained consciousness as he was blinded by a white light. He attempted to move away from the light when he felt that his entire body was bound to a chair. Mark's body was filled with fear, as he was unaware as to where he was, while his mind was in a state of confusion as to how he got there.

He didn't have any idea where he was, so he went ahead and took a look around. He then could see the same people from before having a conversation as he could barely hear what they were saying as they whispered. "This is not one of our smartest ideas." Mari admitted. "So, what are we going to do about this kid?"

"Well I could wipe his memory." Derek suggested.

"No, there are several things wrong with that plan." Mari retorted.

"It really wouldn't be our fault as we were supposed to keep our powers a secret." Selena admitted. "Also, we were never told if we should come in contact with the humans."

"Yeah not helping Selena." Kai replied with a raised eyebrow.

"Well we should just send him home." Nathan suggested. "Though we'll need to be sure he doesn't know too much about us."

"We'll also need to be sure of what he knows so far." Derek agreed to Nathan's idea. Looking over, Selena announced, "We'll need to do it now, he's awake."

They then went back over to Mark as he asked, "Who are you guys and more importantly, why did you kidnap me?"

"Sorry about that but you kind of saw us." Nathan said.

Mark was confused as he wondered, "Of course, I saw you. Why wouldn't I? The Power Rangers are famous, but my friend and I wanted to be sure they were real."

They still didn't understand what he meant by that as Kai mentioned, "there's that phrase again. What in the world is a Power Ranger?"

Mark seemed to be more confused as he then tried to explain, "Oh come on. They're superheroes who fight against monsters and protect the Earth."

Taking a minute to think, Derek replied, "I believe I did hear about that in readings and lectures from my masters in the water lands back home."

Mark tried to get free, but he seemed that he was mysteriously bound as he asked, "could you guys let me go? My dad will be waiting for me and wondering where I am?"

Selena agreed but added, "Sorry about that but first, you need to know that we can't exactly let you off so easy. We aren't exactly normal, and you can't let you tell anyone about us or our powers."

Mark wondered as he asked, "not normal?"

"You heard her, don't tell anyone about us or else you'll be in trouble." Mari said.

"Mari, I don't think threatening him will do anything." Nathan replied.

"Neither saying your name out loud." Kai said.

He seemed to understand why as Mark said, "I get it, you guys don't want anyone to know you guys are rangers cause secret identities and stuff. I promise I won't tell anyone."

They all seemed to believe him as Derek pulled out another card from his deck and placed it in his morpher, undoing the bind on Mark. Nathan then asked, "What was your name again kid?"

"Marcus. But most people call me Mark." He replied.

Before they could let him go, their morphers then went off. Alerting them that there was another monster attack. Each of them taking out their morphers as Kai thought, "well isn't that terrible timing."

"Well nothing we can do about it now, we need to go." Nathan said.

"Okay but what about the kid?" Mari asked.

"We'll have to deal with that later, let's go." They all began running off as Mark followed them. Nathan instructing, "keep your distance and let us do our job." The young kid seemed to understand as he nodded.

Back in the city streets, the Warstar from earlier had returned with another squad of Buggers. Making their way down the streets, they returned to terrorizing innocent civilians and destroying anything that was within their sight. Throughout all of the chaos, the Warstar laughed and said, "you humans really are pathetic. Conquering your world won't be any problem at all."

However, the group were suddenly stopped as a voice yelled, "hold it!" As the Warstar turned around, it was the rangers as they jumped into the air and flipped, they morphed into their ranger suits and landed on the feet on the other side. Now standing in the Warstar and Buggers way.

"You again?!" The Warstar questioned. "You 'Rangers' are fools for standing in our way."

"Well sucks to be you but we have to ruin your fun." Selena commented.

"We won't allow you to harm any of the people on this planet." Nathan said.

The Warstar didn't seem that impressed by the rangers and told the Buggers, "dispose of them!"

"Looks like these dummies didn't learn after last time." Mari said.

The rangers were ready to fight as Nathan said, "Let's go."

"Right!" The others replied.

They then proceeded to engage the Buggers coming towards them, choosing to use their skills in self-defense to their advantage and attack hand-to-hand. First, Nathan using his sky-based abilities to leap high into the air and swiftly strike them down with a series of very clever kick to trip the Buggers up then land down on them hard knocking them out with his fists.

Kai and Mari formed a tag team attacking them on both sides, with Kai using the judo lessons he learned while training to be a guardian to sneak up on the Buggers and grab to hurl them in a circle throw and Mari jumping to send them to their knees with a strong kick, rendering the Buggers unconscious.

Since he was the more logical of the group, Derek studied the movements of the Buggers formulate a counter attack based on the weaknesses they displayed in their attack and evade their strikes, so he could get in between them and deliver a very strong chop to their two of them at the same time then grabbing a hold of them to smash their heads into each other using a technique he learned from self-defense classes as a child to work his way around them.

Meanwhile, Selena chose to use her sky abilities to assist her in a different manner from Nathan. Using the wind around her to create a swirling twister that lifted the Buggers up in the air and her jumping in to hit them multiple times while they were caught in her trap and send them flying to the ground.

"Hey, using your powers like that's cheating!" Nathan announced.

"Sorry, Nate." Selena replied shrugging her shoulders. "But, a girl's gotta fight dirty sometimes to get the job done." She then suggested, snarking, "Now let's finish these clowns and get to the big boss."

Nathan nodded as he agreed and said, "You got it!" The team then pulled out another card from their deck, revealing them to be their individual weapons. Placing them into the morphers and closing the slot, they yelled, "Unfold!"

The formers then announcing their weapons as they manifested into each of their hands. "Guardian Dragon Sword! Guardian Phoenix Shot! Guardian Tiger Claw! Guardian Snake Axe! Guardian Shark Bowgun!"

They then all used their weapons to finish off the Buggers both Kai and Mari decided to put their powers over the ground to use by Kai using his axe to send shock waves through the ground the Buggers were on, and Mari, running in and charging with her claw to slash away at them. Derek shooting several of them down with strong concentrated blasts of water energy blasts from his bowgun, knocking multiple Buggers out at once in the air. Selena then took to the skies and used her power of the wind to stir up a strong twister that caused more Buggers to be caught in it and be unable to do anything to resist and while they were trapped, she used her phoenix shot to deliver an airstrike of multiple shots from her weapon onto them destroying several in the sky.

"Why does she always have to be a show off?" Nathan wondered as he fought against them, slashing with his sword deciding to follow her example and leaped into the air and came in flying at the Buggers, slashing very quickly at them in a single swoop.

Throughout the fight, Marcus had shown up just shortly after the others and had been watching from a safe distance and hid. He could see the rangers fighting flawlessly and was amazed by their bravery and strength.

As the Buggers were now all destroyed, the team then regrouped and then turned their attention back to the main Warstar. The monster commenting as he said, "Not bad, guess this planet will actually put up more of a fight before we invade it."

"Invasion?" Selena wondered.

Nathan was curious as well as he asked, "What are you talking about?"

Though this wasn't the time for questions as … simply replied saying, "Doesn't matter, let's just beat him and then we can find out answers at another time."

The rangers then charged at the Warstar to fight. The Warstar let out a slight chuckle, thinking defeating them would be easy and engaged them. Nathan chose to try and fight him head on with his sword while the rest maneuvered around him to attack from different points, to confuse him. However, the monster proved to be one step ahead of them and used his speed to avoid their strikes at him and swarm around them with a powerful mighty slashing strike that knocked all of them down harsh.

"Is that all your miserable light-weights got? If you're all this planet has to offer for defenders, taking over will be a piece of cake." The monster gloated over them.

However, even though they were hit hard refusing to give up with them knowing Gosei was counting on them to protect this planet.

"This guy really needs to shut up." Mari groaned as she tried to stand back up but fell back down again.

The others regained their stance again as Selena agreed and said, "I know. Do all monsters that come here really gloat like that?"

The Warstar was confused as he wondered, "What?"

"Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm afraid we won't be going down that easily." Kai responded, shaking his free arm

"No matter what, we will never allow wicked souls such as yours to have their way with this beautiful planet." Derek said.

As they all stood in front of the Warstar, Nathan told the other rangers, "Let's show this bug the true power of the guardians."

They went to engage the monster again for payback. This time, they decided to use a different plan of attack on him as the monster prepared to fight planning on using the same style he used before to knock them down. He was then jumped by both Selena and Mari, who used a combined combination to create a very powerful gust of wind that caught the monster off balance before he could even attack, and Mari using her guardian claw to rush up and slash straight at him hard. While he struggled to get his footing, Mari delivered a series of powerful shots from her weapon onto him making it hard for him to be able to counter attack. Then, while the girls had him occupied, both Derek and Kai came in together with Kai swinging his axe to create a powerful tremor that shook him up, and Derek leaping over him and landing a clear harsh blow to his face with his bowgun. Lastly, Nathan came with his dragon sword to deliver a powerful slash that left him very weakened.

"We've got him pinned." Mari announced.

"Let's finish him off." Derek said.

The team then joined together as they combined their weapons, forming the Grand Guardian Cannon. They then all placed a card on each of their pieces of the cannons and Nathan announcing, "Grand Angelic Blast!"

"Fire!" They all announced as they each supported the weight and Nathan fired the cannon. Sending a strong powerful blast towards the Warstar.

Feeling the full force of it, the Warstar yelled in pain as he was pushed back. His body then combusting. As the rangers turn their backs to him, the Warstar exploded as he hit the ground.

Nathan then announcing, "This planet is now under our protection."

From back on the command ship, the generals Mandator, Malikor, and Brander had then witnessed the Angelic Guardian Rangers fight and defeat their ground troop Buggers and the Warstar. Mandator and Malikor surprised by them as Mandator wondered, "How can this be? This planet should not have that kind of power! Who are they?"

Turning to Brander, Malikor asked him, "What do you suggest we do? We must keep on track and secure this planet before the others can arrive and begin. Shall we call for reinforcements?"

Standing up from his chair, Brander said, "Now, now, we are fully prepared for any obstacles that stand in our way." Brander then snapped his fingers and instructed, "Bugbats, revive him and give him your power."

Small bat-like creatures with one large eyeball then flew out as they then made their way out of the ship and onto the surface.

The rangers were discussing and celebrating their victory but then quickly turned to see the Bugbats as they flew down and let themselves be absorbed into the Warstar's body. The monster then regaining life as it stood up and grew to enormous height.

The rangers were shocked as they looked up to see it. "What the heck?!" Mari wondered.

The Warstar then fired upon them, however, the rangers ran out of the way and dodged.

"These monsters have more power than I thought." Derek said. "Gosei never told us about any of this."

"Doesn't matter." Nathan said, "We still have a few moves of our own up our sleeves."

The rangers then took out a card from their deck and placed it in the morphers. Closing the slot, they held the morphers up high, the heads of their zords being released and then manifesting the rest to make their zords. The morphers announcing, 'Dragon Fighter Zord! Phoenix Jet Zord! Tiger Dozer Zord! Snake Train Zord! Shark Sub Zord!'

As they flew and made their way towards the monster, the rangers then jumped into the cockpits to control them.

Having used them for the first time, the rangers themselves were surprised by their zords.

"Woah, okay now this is awesome." Mari thought.

"Guess Gosei thought of everything." Kai commented.

"The technology is impressive." Derek agreed. "They would have needed to have been made by all tribes to be used for this kind of instances."

As the Warstar saw the zords coming towards him, he laughed and said, "Whatever childish toys you think those are they aren't going to help you. Just try and hit me, if you can."

"Well if you insist." Selena replied from within her phoenix zord. The rangers zords then each took a shot at the Warstar. The Dragonzord opened its mouth and shot a blast from its mouth, the Phoenix zord firing a set of missiles at it, the Snake zord slithered and wrapped its way around the giant bug's legs and used its strong razor sharp fangs to bite it very hard on its legs, while it was distracted by the airborne zords making it paralyzed some from its venom. The tiger zord moved around the monster on its dozer treads and fired a highly powerful concussive energy from its mouth that burned the monster, and the Shark zord took a bite out the Warstar.

Taking a hit from each of the zords, the monster grunted and groaned. It then fought back as the Warstar fired back at the Zords, causing them to take some damage. As the rangers tried to keep themselves together, Mari groaned and said, "Ugh, this thing just doesn't know when to quit."

"Got any other ideas, 'leader'?" Kai asked Nathan.

"Yeah, we keep up the heat." Nathan took out another card and placed it into the morpher, closing the slot. The others doing the same as they each had that card. As the morphers slot closed and the eyes glowed, it sounded, 'Grand Guardian Power! Activated!'

The Zords then came together as the tiger attached to the snake's tail end and rose up forming legs with shark and phoenix forming a pair of arms and the dragon attaching to all of them, formed the body and the head. "Grand Guardian Megazord, Ready!" The team announced together as they were all in the cockpit of the head of the megazord.

"Eh what the heck is that thing supposed to do against me!?" The monster wondered.

"You're about to find out the hard way." Nathan said. "We won't allow you to harm this planet. Not now, not ever."

"You always were a bit of a dork giving out heroic speeches when we were training Nate. Let's cut the chat and bring the squash down on this bug." Selena said mockingly, as the rangers used their controllers in the megazord to steer the mecha into engaging the giant bug.

Thinking they would be just as easy to deal with after knocking them down individually in their zords, the monster tried charging the megazord in an attempt to slash it across its sides. But, seeing through his attack, the rangers evaded his advances using the dragon's wings to allow it to jump in the air and dodge the attack.

"Too slow." Nathan said, he then instructed to the yellow ranger, "Mari, take charge and attack."

"You got it." She replied with an excited and confident tone. The megazord countering with a strong kick from the megazords tiger leg. The tiger zord's head chomping down on the monster with its fangs increasing the damage from the kick.

"Oh no, you don't." Kai said as the Warstar tried to pull himself up. The rangers then used the megazord's left snake leg to stomp hard on the ground, using Kai's earth power to cause a tremor to make it hard for him to stand.

"Now it's our turn." Selena said to Derek, the blue ranger merely nodding his head in approval. The phoenix and shark zord then fired a heavy blast attack and the back then shooting a series of missiles towards the monster.

As the Warstar, the team pulled out a card as Nathan said, "Game over, let's squash this bug for good." The team approved as they inserted the card with the morphers sounding off, 'Guardian Megazord Final Slash! Activated!" As the Shark arm grabbed the sword, it then lit ablaze. The megazord then sending a powerful and fiery slash towards the monster, ending its life.

As the monster was destroyed, the megazord turned its back to the explosion. Inside the cockpit, the team loudly cheered in victory, following the monsters fall.

Nathan then proclaimed, "As long as the Earth is under our watch, no evil will ever be able to triumph over this planet Earth's defenders never surrender!"

"Victory speech? Really?" Mari questioned.

Turning to her, Nathan shrugged and wondered, "why not?"

"Don"t you ever get tired of being a colossal nerd, Nate." Selena mockingly said thumping his head. The rangers continuing to joke and laugh from inside the cockpit of the megazord.

Meanwhile, on the command ship above the Earth, Brander and the other generals had continued to observe the rest of the battle on the Earth. Them each being surprised that one of their monsters had failed to destroy the city.

"Impossible, these 'Rangers', whoever they are, must definitely not be human." Mons Drake assumed.

"There's no way a mere human could hold that much power behind them to be able to cause one of our elite monsters to fall like that something's different about them for certain." Mandator conceited.

"Human or not, they'll need to be dealt with before the deadline for the others to arrive." Brander said before getting out of his chair with his arms behind him. "But this also grants us a grand opportunity."

"Opportunity?" Mons Drake wondered.

Mandator then asked pointing his claw hand at him, "What are you going on about?"

Turning back to the two generals, Brander explained, "We've been assigned to secure this backwater planet like a bunch of worthless security dogs. But, if we annihilate its defenders as well, we'll be rewarded by the empire and the supreme emperor himself. These rangers may give us the chance to prove to the emperor that we are worth more than this easy task."

While intrigued, Malikor wondered, "I thought you weren't interested in the empire's riches."

Brander then responded, "I don't, but the empire has something I want and the only way I can get that is to regain their favor these Rangers maybe my ticket to get what I desire."

"Either way, the sooner we get to trashing this plan, the better." Mandator thought. He then asked, "So, what do you suggest our next plan of attack should be against the rangers general?"

Brander stood silently then walked towards the left window of their ship looking down at the Earth with his hands crossed behind his back in contemplation for his next choice of action then with a smirk on his face turned back towards Mandator and said, "Very good question, my old friend. As for our next course of action, for now we bide our time and once we are ready, we'll send out another Warstar to test these ranger's strength to see if they really are a nuisance."

The other two generals didn't seem to disagree or go against Brander's plan. "I'll be sure the next Warstar is prepared." Malikor announced before leaving the main deck of the ship. Brander and Mandator then continued to look at the Earth, Brander chuckling and laughing maniacally as he was intrigued by the rangers and had more of a plan than he told the other two generals.

Back on Earth, it was getting late in the evening as the sun was setting over the horizon, and on the ground, the rangers were demorphed into their civilian forms and relaxing after a job well done. Laying down on the grass with his hands behind his head as he sighed and announced, "Man, I'm beat. Let's hope those guys don't show up again." Kai said.

Looking over at her brother from her sitting position with a raised eyebrow, Mari replied saying, "Your lazy butt, You're just hungry, AGAIN." She then thought out loud with a grin on her face, "That was a piece of cake. I'd like them to bring it on and bring in at least a dozen."

As she laughed, Derek looked at her while standing with his arms crossed and thought, "Mari, there's a saying that the humans have that goes, 'Don't jinx us.' I won't get too cocky. We've more than lightly just aggravated whoever that guy works for and it'll only be a matter of time before they send another one."

"Alright, fine." Mari replied, "You don't need to act uptight with a stick up your butt 24/7."

"He does make a point though." Selena replied. "Though for now at least, we can take the time to relax."

"When they do come back, we'll be ready for them." Nathan concluded, the others agreeing with nods and grins on each of their faces.

Suddenly, a young voice announced, "That was a dozen levels of AWESOME!"

Turning to see who it was, they recognized him as Mark, the kid who had seen them before. Letting out a sigh, Kai started to sit up "Not this kid again".

Looking at him, Nathan wondered and asked, "What are you doing here?"

Mark approached the five of them and said, "I just wanted to say you guys totally rule! The way you all battled and beat that bug thing was FREAKIN SICK. I can't believe I know actual power rangers!"

"There's that name again." Selena thought. "Why does he keep calling us that?"

"Did this kid seriously tail us just to geek out maybe it would've been a better idea to mind wipe…ouch" Kai distastefully said until Mari stepped on his foot.

Herself then whispering, "Sometimes you should keep that mouth of yours shut."

"Power Rangers huh, I kinda like it." Nathan commented.

"Of course, you would." Derek replied. He then told Mark, "You should go on home kid. Your parents are probably wondering where you are."

"Okay, just wanted to tell you that you guys are awesome and thanks for saving the city." As he got back on his bike, he noticed how the rangers were still there and not going anywhere themselves. He then went back to them and wondered, "You guys don't really have any place to stay, do you?"

"Well technically we do have a home we just can't return to our world until our mission is done." Nathan explained.

Mark then offered, "Well you can stay at my place. My dad owns a restaurant downtown and we have a spare room."

Thinking about it, Derek replied, "I don't think that's a good idea. We're not supposed to get too involved with the humans, besides, he already knows much more than he should."

"It would be nice to have a warm roof to sleep under." Selena thought.

"I still don't think it's a good idea." Derek retorted.

Mark then reassured him as he said, "I promise I won't tell anyone about who you guys are or what you guys do. Superheroes need to keep their secret identities, right?"

"Superheroes?" Mari wondered.

"Don't even start sis." Kai replied with a raised eyebrow seeing the look on his sister's face. "We aren't like that and the last thing we need is to draw attention to the humans."

"Well it looks like there's much argument so let's do it. We'll take your offer to stay at the restaurant." Nathan concluded as he spoke to Mark.

With a grin on his face, Mark was slightly excited as he replied as he loudly said, "Great!" He then got back on his bike as he instructed to the others, "Follow me."

The others then got back up as they followed the young child. While the rest seemed alright with Mark's offer, Derek still believed that this wasn't their best plan and one small mistake would be enough to completely compromise them. He was also suspicious of the Warstar from earlier and who exactly he was working for as it said he was some kind of grander force. Nathan also wondered who the aliens they fought before where and if one thing was certain, they would eventually come back.

As the sun set and the evening sky turned to nightfall, the rangers and Mark made their way back into the downtown area of the city. The restaurant of Mark's dad had at a red, almost purplish roof, a wooden door and a clear window view. The inside had green walls and a clear tiled floor with brown tables and chairs. The logo written in yellow and green on the outside part of the window as it read 'Restaurant outlet county'. The team went through the back door to get into the apartment part of the building. Mark using his key to help them get inside as they followed him inside. Putting his backpack down, he announced, "Hey dad, I'm home!"

While Mark put his shoes and jacket away, the others took a look around the apartment. The home was averagely sized with four bedrooms and a few bathrooms. It was one story with the living room being the main area with the rooms and the second bathroom near the back. The living room was a carpeted floor with two sofas, a bookshelf, and a medium sized TV. To the left was a small kitchen with the stove and shelves near the back and a small dining table for eight.

As the team equated themselves with the place, Nathan wondered as he asked, "So is it just you and your dad?"

Turning back to him, Mark replied as he said, "Well my dad spends a lot of time down in the restaurant working but basically yeah it's just me and my dad living here."

"What about your mom?" Mari wondered.

Thinking about it, Mark basically replied, she isn't around anymore."

Getting an idea of what he meant by that, Mari told him, "Oh… I'm so sorry."

Putting a hand on her shoulder, Kai told Mari, "Way to be inconsiderate sis."

"Hey, how was I supposed to know." She whispered back to him in response trying to defend herself.

"It's fine, don't worry about it." Mark assured the both of them.

After taking her own tour of the home with Nathan, Selena complimented to Mark as she said, "We like your house. It's small but friendly."

"Thanks." Mark replied. Seeing as there was no response, Mark called once again, "Dad, are you here?! I'm home!"

Finally hearing him, a voice coming out of one of the rooms as he said, "Sorry I'll be right there." With the sound of a door shutting, an older man with brown hair and blue eyes, wearing a suit with an undone tie stepped into the room. Hugging his son, the man told Mark, "Sorry I was just finishing up some work. Where were you? You should have been home hours ago."

"I was just hanging out with Chris." Mark informed and assured his dad. "I'm fine I promise."

The man then saw the others as he wondered, "Who are they?"

Mark then answered, "They're some new friends that I met while I was out."

He seemed like he would need more of an answer than that as he took notice that they were a lot older than him, "Where are you all from?" His father asked.

Derek then began as he said, "Our apologies, we are a group of cele-" As they caught on to what he was gonna say, Selena and Mari quickly kept him quiet. Trying to cover it up, Nathan said, "We're … actually abroad students that just began attending high school near your son's school and we just moved into town. Your son took notice of us and offered to show us around the city."

While still suspicious, Mark's dad seemed to believe their story. "I see." He replied looking at them. "Well in that case my name is Desmond, but you can all call me Mr. Parker."

As they all acknowledged that, Selena slightly waved and replied with a smile on her face. "It's nice to meet you Mr. Parker. Your son was very nice to all of us and very helpful."

Turning to his dad, Mark informed his dad, "I told them they could stay here. They didn't seem like they had anywhere to go."

Mr. Parker was surprised and confused as he told his son, "Mark are you serious? It's nice that you offered to help them, but you can't just let a group of strangers into our home."

Mark then pleaded, "Please, we have the room and aside from Chris I don't really have any friends. We have the room." Mr. Parker could see how much this meant to his son, but he still wasn't so sure about the idea.

"We promise we won't be much of trouble." Kai assured him.

"Well I can't speak for him, I agree. We won't be too much of a problem and if you need, we'll do whatever you want around the house."

Taking a look at each of them before turning his gaze back to his son, he let out a sigh and told his son with a bit of a grin, "Okay, they seem like nice enough kids. They can say."

They were all glad to hear him accept, especially Mark. Mr. Parker then informed them, "Make yourselves at home." He then asked his son, "Do you have any homework?"

"I did most of it at school." Mark replied.

Mr. Parker then instructed to him, "Well why don't you finish up the rest while I go get the rooms ready for the night."

Mark nodded as he then turned to Nathan and grabbed hold of his hand as he said, "Come on. Let me show you my room."

While slightly confused, Nathan replied, "Okay." He then followed Mark off and Mr. Parker then went to go get some spare sheets for the others. As they saw he was gone, Selena and Mari finally let go of Derek, allowing him to breathe.

"The heck kind of keeping a secret is that?!" Mari yelled at him. "Are you literally trying to blow our cover?!"

"I wasn't going to reveal every single detail." Derek said in defense of himself. "Besides I did not agree to coming here or revealing ourselves to the kid."

"Sure, you weren't." Selena retorted with a raised eyebrow. Kai doing the same. Selena then wondered, "Think Mr. Parker will believe us?"

"Let's hope so but if not, we sock him in the head and then mindwipe him while he's out." Kai suggested as he relaxed and sat down on the couch with his hands behind his head.

The others didn't seem so keen on the idea as Mari sarcastically replied, "Yeah unlike you I like living in a warm place and don't want to do anything that'll get us kicked out."

Derek then said with his arms crossed, "All we need to do is keep our cool and neither tell Mr. Parker about us being rangers or celestial angels."

"Says the guy who almost spilled the beans just now. You may be one of the smartest minds in heaven, but you have your moments where you can be a real dunce." Selena replied. "But he's right. We can make this work." They then quickly ended the conversation as Mr. Parker returned and informed them all, "All your beds are ready now. We don't have much but whatever we have it's yours."

They then let out small grins on their faces as Derek told him, "Thanks, we appreciate it."

Mr. Parker then nodded in acknowledgement as he then told them, "Alright so if you're hungry I can start making dinner for us."

Excited, Mari replied, "Great, I'm starving!"

"Allow me to help." Selena offered.

Mr. Parker was slightly surprised but accepted the offer as he said in response, "Okay, thanks." Selena merely nodded with a smile as she followed him into the kitchen. As Derek sat down, Mari joined her brother on the either side of the couch as she waited, then deciding to mess around with the TV remote and going through the channels.

Meanwhile, Mark had gone with Nathan down the hall down to the furthest room down to the left which was his. As he opened the door, he flipped the lights on as he announced to Nathan, "Here we are."

There were two twin beds in the room with a window on the back wall and to the left was a bookshelf and to the right was a stand with action figures and all over the room, the walls were covered in action movie posters. As Nathan looked around, Mark wondered, "What do you think?"

"Pretty cool." Nathan replied.

Mark then went ahead and got to work on his homework, though as much as he tried to quickly get it done, he couldn't get his mind off what had happened earlier, and he had a bunch of questions. From his desk chair, Mark turned to Nathan who was sitting on the other bed as he wondered, "So what exactly are you guys? From the way you made it sound you guys definitely aren't human."

Looking at him, Nathan kept a small grin on his face he merely responded to him, "It's not merely that simple."

"Okay then, make it simple." Mark suggested, "Trust me whatever crazy story it is, I'll believe it."

Nathan still could not reveal the truth as he just told Mark, "Just focus on your homework for now and I'll tell you another day."

While still disappointed, Mark turned his attention back to his assignment and continued writing. After a few minutes, there was a knock on the door as it was Kai and Mari as she informed, "You guys, Mr. Parker says dinner's ready?"

Turning to them, Nathan told them, "We'll be right there."

As Mark put everything down and stood up, he told Nathan, "You're still totally gonna have to tell me one of these days."

Slightly chuckling, Nathan followed him out of the room as he told him, "Yeah, you got a deal."

They then all made to the dining room table as they saw the hot meal all ready." As everyone was there, they all started eating with small gossip. The guardian ranger's mission had taken a much larger twist than originally intended but for now, it did not matter as much. They were all still completely obligated to protect the Earth and all the people on it.
