Downstream
A/N: I'll be using names of actual villages from the show, but the geography will be completely made up 'cause i'm awful with names.. And location for that matter. So if the names ring a bell I'm not using the canon location.
The gong sounded. All of the members of the Furious Five and the Dragon Warrior gathered in front of the training hall. Shifu was already there, perched atop his staff waiting for them.
"Bandits are attacking the Wang Fu village, it will be a two day journey from here, when you arrive it will be your job to protect the village from further attacks and to locate the bandits."
"Yes Master Shifu." The six warriors said in unison before dashing down the 1,000 stairs, Po for once managing to stay upright on the journey down.
The masters had reached the bamboo forest when they'd decided to stop for the night. They had gathered around a campfire with Po cooking and Tigress deciding travel plans. Her thoughts were interrupted by a low chuckle coming from her right shoulder.
"What's so funny Mantis."
"Well I was just watching you plan and it looks like you're avoiding the river… Is the brave and fearless Master Tigress afraid of water."
"Terrified." Tigress answered with a deadpan look.
"I don't know if you're being serious or not."
"I guess we'll cross that river when we get there." There was a louder laugh to her left from Po. "You made a funny."
"Yes I did."
It was midday when they reached the river. They waited by the bed of the river as Tigress gave orders.
"Crane, you'll fly Viper, Mantis, and Monkey over. You three will continue to the village while Po and I swim across."
"Are you sure you don't want Crane to carry you across."
"Mantis I will drown you."
"You know that involves getting in the water right." Mantis and Monkey both began to laugh before Viper silenced them with a tail whip to the back of the head. Tigress nodded gratefully to the snake before giving Crane the go ahead. He nodded and grabbed the three masters before taking flight.
"So do you want help across the river"
"Po."
"I mean your feline you don't like water right"
"Po."
"I won't tell the others if yo-"
"Po!" The panda stopped his rambling and looked over to the irate tiger who stood waist deep in the water.
"You're in the water."
"Unlike most other felines tigers enjoy water.
"Oh okay." Po said sheepishly as he watched the tiger dive completely under the water. They emerged on the other end of the river 30 mins later. Tigress was first to leave the water, she shook herself violently managing to get most of the water out of her fur. She moved quickly from the river's edge as Po emerged, she didn't need another shower. By the time they joined the others they were mostly dry.
The six masters stood quietly gathered in a dark alley, from what information they'd gathered the bandits would likely attack around midnight. Tigress turned her attention to the sky as Crane swooped lower signaling that he'd spotted the bandits, he flew north towards the villages entrance, while the other five followed silently along the rooftops. In a flash the master had dropped down and surprised the bandits.
"Retreat." the leader of the bandits shouted. They quickly disengaged in their fights and fled.
"Follow them." Tigress shouted as she began chasing the leader. The others split as well, each following a group of fleeing bandits. Monkey chased his group from the rooftops, chucking roof tiles like projectiles. He let out a short cry of joy as one tile took out bandits.
"Two points Monkey."
"I can do better!" Mantis said as he launched himself at the remaining three remaining bandits. They fell in quick succession, landing paralyzed on the ground.
"Three points Mantis." He shouted up to Monkey
Crane gave chase by air, he waited till they'd left the village before diving down releasing a current of air that sent the bandits flying. Viper wrapped herself around one of the felled bandits and used him as a puppet to take out the rest.
"Let's go find the others."
Crane flew through the forest as he searched for Po and Tigress. Monkey, Mantis, and Viper followed him from below. He spotted a lone black and white figure running through the forest and swooped down.
"Where Tigress?"
"She followed the leader towards the river." Po said panting harshly.
"We should probably hurry in that case."
"Ya know tigers actually like-"
The group stopped at the edge of the forest in shock as they watched Tigress leap at the Ox bandit throwing them both into the water.
"I thought tigers didn't like water."
"That's pant what pant i've pant been pant trying pant to pant say pant the pant whole pant time pant tigers like water.
"No way." Mantis said
"Yes, look." Monkey said. The group watched orange and black fur turn through the water.
"Should we help?"
"I don't think she needs it." They watched in fascination as Tigress pulled herself from the water with an unconscious ox dragging behind her.
