(A/N: Since this story is doing so well, I decided to get started on the next chapter. Enjoy!)

Life as a Princess

Naruko Uzumaki- or Princess Yona as she is called now- has breathed two years of life so far in this body. It's taking her some time to get used to this body and this new lifestyle. After all, she was a princess now!

She was a fucking princess!

In her old life, she was nothing. Just a lonely, little orphan. An orphan that was despised and ostracized because she carried the The Nine Tailed Fox, no Kurama within her.

Just the thought of her furry, monstrous friend filled her with sadness. No longer was he with her. Despite their rocky relationship, she felt an odd sense of comfort knowing she wasn't completely alone. She had a (rather reluctant) guardian...demon watching over her.

Sure, they were just using each other at first. She greedily commanded Kurama to give her his powers whenever it seemed convenient for her to gain a power boost when necessary. Although, he was also happy to comply, only because each use of his powers brings him a step closer to breaking the Eight Trigrams Seal and regaining his freedom.

However, during the Fourth Shinobi War, because of a mutual need for survival, they grew closer and closer until they became very good friends. And that's the one of things she was going to regret. She died before she could make anything out of their friendship. And now Kurama's presence was no longer with her.

Getting back to topic… She was a princess now. Princess Yona of Kouka Kingdom. Yeah. Okay, she was being sarcastic and lacked any enthusiasm. In her old life, she had to work her ass off to get where she was. Well, technically, she was nobility thanks to being the daughter of the Fourth Hokage and an Uzumaki. But since the names of her parents were kept an S-rank secret to even herself, she was just a lowlife, friendless orphan.

Guess, she wasn't eager or passionate about being princess because she didn't work hard for it. She was princess because of birth rights. This defies everything she stood for in her previous life. About a person working hard to achieve their goals and dreams.

Maybe if she never was in the body of a two-year-old with a mind of a seventeen-year-old, she could actually relish and enjoy the life of a luxurious princess. But for now, it's been nothing but a pain in the ass.

Don't get her wrong. It wasn't that bad. She loved her parents. They were kind and doting people. This body's biological father's name was- her new father's name- Il, and her mother's name was Qi-Yun. Her father was a kind and gentle man, albeit a little on the chubby side. Has he ever thought about exercising? Doing about ten or so pushups and situps a day would really do his body some good. He was also the younger brother of General Yu-Hon, a very scary and authoritative man.

Her mother, on the other hand, was a very beautiful woman. She had long, raven hair that was soft as silk and reached all the way down to her waist. She was everything a princess- and possibly future queen- needed to be. Beautiful, elegant, and graceful. What she loved most about her mother was her beautiful singing voice.

In the end, her new parents were the total opposite of her old parents. While Il was kind to the point of being a pacifist and the fear of baring arms, Minato had a hard, cold steel underneath his even-tempered and amiable exterior. And don't get her started on the difference between Qi-Yun and Kushina. Let's just say with her fiery temper and hot-blooded nature, Kushina had a terrifying nature, Qi-Yun did not.

Speaking of which, this new body's appearance had a similar hair and eye color as her old mother. She often wondered why is that? Her new biological parents didn't have crimson red hair or violet eyes like she did. Maybe it was a recessive gene in the family. However, unlike Kushina's straight hair, hers was untamed and unruly. Though, she didn't mind it much. Other than her hair and eyes, her skin was a lot paler, her face a lot less round, and her nose was tinier and more angular.

All that aside, there were some perks to being royalty. Such as having her servants and maids that do her menial chores for her. She thought because of that, she would have more free time- free time to train and see if she had any chakra to utilize in this new body.

But nope! She was kept under constant watch. Doesn't matter what she did, she always had someone watching over her. If not her parents, then one of the maids would keep her under constant surveillance. Though, it was understandable. She was only two. However, as much as she appreciated how doting and overprotective her parents were, it was times like these that it was just overbearing.

She just hoped it would get easier. More free time as she gets easier. Because of her previous life's shinobi's upbringing, she was itching to train in order to regain her former strength. Or at least try to.

She could only guess that if she didn't have the memories of Naruko Uzumaki, she would probably be living a carefree, sheltered, and spoiled life, enjoying all the perks and luxury of being a princess.

Yona was now four-years-old now. There were a few things she discovered these past few years of life. One, ninjas didn't exist in this new world. There were soldiers, but they were equivalent to a samurai with no chakra in her old world. She doesn't know what to feel about that. She felt something of an odd mixture of wistfulness and resignation.

Although, she was slightly relieved when this new body did have chakra residing in it. It wasn't much, but several factors could contribute to her low chakra. One, she didn't have Kurama. Two, she wasn't an Uzumaki anymore. And three, her body was still undeveloped. Once she grew older and started training, her chakra reserves should increase. However, she doubts it would be at the same level as it was when she was Naruko Uzumaki.

As much as she wanted to start training, it would have to wait just a little longer because her mother freaked when she tried climbing up a tree to use a branch to do some pull-ups. Because of that incident, she was on timeout for a week and kept under observation to make sure she doesn't pull another (dangerous) stunt like that.

More patient. Just be more patient.

Yona always had two new friends. One of which was her older cousin, Soo-Won, and the other was the adopted grandson of General Son Mundok of the Wind Tribe, Son Hak. They were both two years older than her, being six.

Soo-Won had a rather feminine appearance for a little boy, but she had an inkling he would grow into a fine, young man once he loses all that baby fat. He was also very friendly and easygoing to the point of being unassuming. He had blond hair and sea green eyes. He was the son of General Yu-Hon. He was easy enough to get along with, but there was something hidden about him. A certain cunningness he keeps underwraps underneath his innocent facade. If it wasn't for her experience as a ninja, she would have messed it altogether. He was a rather...interesting kid to say the least.

Then there was her other friend, Hak, and let her say one thing, he was the opposite of Soo-Won. Hak was a boy with messy, black hair and sharp, blue eyes. He was obnoxious and rude. Insufferable and insensitive. He was also very blunt and straightforward to the point of being brutally honest. Though, he did have his reliable side. And he was loyal too. In other words, he was an ass with a decent side.

She also heard that he started training under his grandfather. There was intensity in his eyes she couldn't shake off. She instantly knew for sure that Hak was a born warrior. Something told her he was going to be a very valuable asset in the future, and her instincts never deterred her before. She just had to make sure to keep him by her side.

"What are you doing, Princess?"

She could feel the boys' breathing down her neck, and their inquisitive gazes on her handy work. It was a small strip of paper with a bunch of weird writings on it.

"Uh… Calligraphy," Yona said lamely.

The boys gave a look. She knew they thought her excuse was lame, but she was grateful they didn't delve into it more.

Truthfully, she was working on some sealing techniques, such as explosive tags and storage seals. She was so glad she took an interest in seals during her two years traveling with the Pervy Sage, and she was quite proficient in it, if she does say so herself. Simple sealing techniques was one of the few things she discovered she could do.

It was a small relief since she couldn't do the Shadow Clone Jutsu, her most signature jutsu. She tried to make a few clones in secret, in the hopes of using them to gather information outside the castle. But that plan was a bust because, no matter how hard she tried a clone just wouldn't form and she was pretty sure she was doing it right. She also tried doing the Transformation Jutsu, but that didn't work either. She guessed that only jutsu that affects her body- for example, transforming or making clones of herself- was out of the question.

There was only one guess that there were certain limitations. What those limitations were, she wasn't exactly sure. Clones were out of the question. She has tried the Rasengan, and it sorta worked. Well, the form was there, but it immediately dissipated. She tried a few more times with the same result. She was guessing she was going to have to relearn Rasengan because this body lacks muscle memory. Rasengan is now one of her goals for the future. There should be all sorts of balloons that she could train with. For now, she would just stick to reading books in the library, and using her dancing lessons as weight training.

Yes, Yona was studying. She wanted to learn as much about this world and its custom as she could. She was going to start out as an ignorant dimwit like she did when she was Naruko. Though, she kept the fact that she visits the library a secret. She understood greatly how the art of deception was. She used to be a shinobi after all. She wanted everyone to underestimate her. That way, they wouldn't think twice about Princess Yona.

In public, she acted as the flighty Princess Yona. Acting as a slightly spoiled, carefree, and ditzy princess. She was so glad Hinata taught her the etiquettes of being a 'proper lady' for the time she became Hokage. And why shouldn't she be? Why should she not take advantage of being a princess? She used her lessons to hide the fact that she was training. Her calligraphy was a chance to work on some seals. And her dismissing her chores to her maids and servants gives her more time to map and memorize the castle inside and out, so she could set up traps discreetly.

Besides, no one would suspect the princess to be able to fight. They won't think twice about a seemingly 'helpless' princess. She wanted to remain under everyone's radar. Being a former ninja, she was acutely aware of being careful who she should trust and who she should not, and she was absolutely going to make sure to gather allies whom she could trust. Those who swear their undying loyalty to her.

In private, she was the deadly, independent, and experienced Naruko Uzumaki. She was still as plucky and gutsy as she was in her previous life- thanks to her old memories- along with the maturity, mentality, and life experiences to back it up. Training and studying incognito. Formulating plans and traps. She was a princess. Just from that alone, she knew the potential of how dangerous her life could end up being. Some of her past life's missions included guarding a royal or noble person, so she understood first-hand how difficult and life-threatening their life could get.

For now, she often just snuck out in the dead of night to do some weapon training. She wanted to know how to use a sword for close range combat and a bow for long range tactics. Plus, sticking an explosive tag to an arrow would make it more deadly. She also realized one day while she was practicing archery that she could focus her chakra into her weapons. Using her chakra, she was able to increase her arrows sharpness and power. The arrow was able to pierce cleanly through a tree. She wasn't able to pick up a sword yet though. This body was too weak. But, over time, she should after years of weight training.

"Hey!" Yona yelled when her papers were snatched from her. "Give that back, you jerk!"

Hak gave her an exasperated look. "We've been calling you for a while, Princess," he stressed. "Why are you working on your calligraphy anyway when your handwriting is so horrible, Princess?"

Yona growled angrily. Guess she could use a break and humor the boys. And that included a tackle in Hak's direction, which Hak nearly dodged.

Key word, nearly.

He sidestepped her attempt, thinking she was trying to take her papers back from him all the while with that ever present smug smirk on his face.

"Come back here, dattebayo!" Yona shouted, chasing Hak around the courtyard. Her verbal tic followed her in this new life as well.

"Way to go, Hak!" Soo-Won cheered in the background. "You made Yona act like herself again!"

For now, Yona was going to enjoy an actual childhood.

(A/N: That's the end of this chapter! What did you think? I've decided to give Yona some chakra, thanks to the suggestions of some reviewers. Though as it could see there's a limit of what she can and can't do. Yeah, no shadow clones, transformation, or sexy jutsu. Honestly, the only jutsus she can use are very simple sealing jutsus and the Rasengan. The Rasenshuriken, however, is out of the question. Too powerful and destructive. She could easily wipe out a whole army with one Rasenshuriken. I was thinking of having Yona learn Sage Mode though. Just to increase her strength and speed in hand-to-hand combat.

So basically Yona/Naruko would only have very basic sealing jutsus (mostly used for explosive tags and storage), the Rasengan, and Sage Mode. I want her to mostly rely on being resourceful and cunning when dealing with situations. Oh, and her chakra levels would probably be high Chunin to mid Jonin level.

That's it! Leave any questions, comments, and suggestions in a review, and thanks for reading! I'm probably going to go straight to the main plot of Yona of the Dawn in the next chapter.)
