Phoenix had spotted Dahlia going to her literature class earlier in the morning and they had agreed to eat together as planned. They decided to meet up in a nearby park, where some students would come to relax, meet their friends, or even, go on a date.
My God, I'm stressing so much…! Phoenix realized as he arrived in the park. Looking ahead, he noticed Dahlia seated on a bench and went to meet her.
"Hello again, Dollie, how do you do?", he started by asking politely.
She was lost in her thoughts and was surprised to hear Phoenix call out to her like that: "Argh… Oh, Feenie it's you… I'm fine, thanks, what about you?".
"Doing great, thanks!", he answered cheerily, "I must admit, Dollie, your new hair color is beautiful."
The comment was simple enough, in fact, Dahlia had gone from her bright red to a dark black, which suited her perfectly. However, Phoenix had no idea of the true meaning behind this change.
"Oh, hmm, thanks…", Dahlia said shyly, "I've wanted to try to make some changes and well… there it is."
Hmm… There's something odd here… Phoenix noticed. When we first met, Dollie seemed really comfortable when she talked to me; now however, she seems shy and reserved… Oh, I'm probably imagining things.
"Yeah, it's good to make some adjustments from time to time.", he commented, "If it can make you feel prettier, then go for it. Though I can't say I'm used to major adjustments…"
"Oh? And why not?", she asked.
"Hmm, guess I never felt the need to change too much…", he stated flatly, "I mean, I've seen some friends change too fast and become different people, I just don't want to go this path, you see?". Ironic.
"I see… It's tough to see the people closest to you getting more and more distant, I can relate to that. However, it's true that a bit of change can't hurt.", Dahlia told Phoenix.
"Especially if it makes you look cuter!", he added proudly which made her cheeks blush.
"Thanks Feenie!", she exclaimed happily, "That's so nice of you!"
"You're welcome Dollie.", he said gentlemanly.
"Oh, and before I forget! I brought you a little something I prepared; hope you'll like it…". She took out a small bag of her own handbag which contained some small pastries that looked quite sweet.
Phoenix was truly grateful for what Dahlia had done for him. "Oh, you shouldn't have! That's too kind!"
"Tee-hee, you know, Feenie, you're quite cute when you're blushing!", she chuckled, which made the young man blush even more.
Argh, stop complimenting me like that! I hate to blush like a little kid… It's embarrassing an…
He couldn't even finish his sentence when he felt something touching him. It took him by surprise, but he didn't move an inch, since the feeling was pleasant. When he came back to his senses, he realized that Dahlia was kissing him, and before he could think of his actions, he started kissing her back. He truly was an amateur when it came to loving matters: in fact, he had only kissed a girl once, and it was only a stolen kiss in 5th grade. But here, he felt so nice that it came naturally, as if Dahlia had been made for him. The kiss lasted a little over a minute, with the two of them looking at each other in the eyes when they needed to breathe. Phoenix couldn't control his thoughts anymore…
Damn, she's gorgeous! Those eyes, this lovely face… And those… No, no Phoenix! Don't go this way!
They finally pulled out of the kiss and both didn't know what to say. Phoenix thought it might also be Dahlia's first serious kiss which surprised him, so he simply dismissed his theory: for him, there was no way a girl as pretty as his Dollie had never been in a relationship before.
Ultimately, Phoenix was the first one to break the silence, and spoke without thinking: "I love you, Dollie."
"I love you too, Feenie.", she replied softly.
And so, the new couple had a lovely afternoon in the park, where they chatted, complimented each other, talked about their homework… Well, all the things a young couple would do during a date. Eventually, came 4:30 PM and Phoenix had to go home.
"Hmm… I didn't know that time had flown this quick… I'll have to get going Dollie, my bus takes off in five minutes and if I miss it, I won't be able to go home…", he explained to his new girlfriend.
"Okay.", she said, "I won't hold you any longer if you need to go. We'll have to eat again together soon!"
"No objection here!", he stated, even before it became his favorite word.
"Oh, and one last thing before you go Feenie…", Dahlia called out to Phoenix.
"Yeah, what is it?", he asked.
"The necklace I gave you… Would you mind giving it back to me? I've got another one at home and I think it would suit you better.". The question surprised Phoenix, who had grown quite fond of the necklace since it had been Dahlia's present when they first met.
"Hmm, I doubt any present could top this one to be honest…", the spiky-haired student said, "I'd love if you let me keep it."
She knew she couldn't make a slip of the tongue, not here, not now. So, taking it really slowly, she said: "But Feenie, I'm sure you'd love the one I made for you! This one's not that good-looking…"
"That's where we'll have to disagree Dollie.", he informed her, "Even if you don't find it good-looking, this necklace has a strong emotional importance to me. I'm sorry if I'm being rude, but I'd really like to keep it."
"Fine…", she conceded, "But I really think you would prefer the other…"
"Heh heh, who knows?", Phoenix laughed, "I'll go now if you don't mind."
He kissed her again, already way more relaxed than earlier this afternoon.
"I love you Dollie. See you soon.", he said looking right in her brown eyes.
"I love you too Feenie. Bye.", she answered before Phoenix finally left.

I won't ever be able to forget that day, even if I wanted to. Kissing Iris for the first time, even without knowing it was her… it was unbelievable. The six months we spent together then were probably the best ones of my youth. I only remember having days as good when I first met Maya and when I adopted Trucy, but other than those, Iris was the only one who had been able to make me feel this good. In hindsight, I truly am ashamed that I couldn't even tell it wasn't the same girl… I mean, the sudden change of hair color, the shyness she had at the beginning, and overall the love she gave me… I should have known!

Feenie… I'm terribly sorry I can't be honest with you… but if I did then Dahlia… But I genuinely love you; your kindness, your sense of humor, your happiness, just you! I really wonder how I was able to trick you like that though… I mean, did he really believe me when I said I changed my hair color just for change's sake?! I'll have to dye it in a little while not to look suspicious… And still, he fell in love with Dahlia, not me! It's tough, but it's the truth, Iris!
Iris was thinking back to the moments she just had with Phoenix. She loved him. However, she had no idea if her Feenie loved her, or her sister. But she had something else to concern herself about: the necklace. Indeed, Dahlia had hidden it on Phoenix not to be caught with the poison, but she needed it back, urgently. Iris caught on her plans to kill Phoenix if needed and proposed to meet him and try to get it back in a more humane way. It hadn't worked however, and Iris was afraid of what her sister's reaction would be. Moreover, she wasn't sure if she would be able to see the man she loved again, and that's what was hurting her the most.
I wouldn't be able to sleep well in a world where I cannot see you, Feenie. We've only seen each other once, but the feelings I have for you are eternal. I just hope Dahlia will give me another chance, and then, who knows, I may even be able to admit everything…

I'm truly blessed Dahlia didn't try to kill me right away and waited six months… How would I have been able to see Iris otherwise?! I remember everything about our time together at Ivy U: the lunches, the kisses, the compliments and all those other loving moments… Unforgettable. And to say that I almost put her life in peril by refusing to give her that stupid pendant! If I had known, I would have burned it to ashes myself if it was not to lose her! It's utterly amazing how two twins could have totally opposite visions of me though… I was only Dahlia's tool, a way to escape justice; while Iris truly loved me and tried to show it as much as she could.
Phoenix continued reminiscing for a bit before realizing it was already past 7:30 and that Iris and Trucy were expecting him. He decided to call it a day, even though he wasn't quite done with the paperwork, he had to get moving. He stood up from his chair and headed for the exit.
"Hey Athena, I'll go home now, you can leave too if you want.", he offered his employee.
"Oh, Boss! Hmm, I'm almost done with my papers, so I think I'll finish that and then go home, if that's alright with you.", Athena said.
"As you wish. Just lock the door on your way out, please.", a sigh. He had already experienced going to the office early in the morning and seeing the door unlocked. He had admonished Athena for forgetting to check and she had promised it wouldn't happen again. Phoenix wasn't a cruel employer though and didn't penalize her or cut her salary like a certain prosecutor would do… But to be honest, the last thing Phoenix needed was a robbery at the office…
"No problem Boss!", she told him cheerily.
"See you tomorrow then, Athena."
"Tomorrow, Boss!", the psychological lawyer said as Phoenix left the office.
I wonder what the Boss was doing…? It's rare for him to leave the office before finishing his daily work... Well, it's none of my business though, I should rather finish what I have to and call it a day myself.

Outside the Building
Phoenix had just left the office's building and as always, looked up to the sign saying, "Wright Anything Agency". By doing that, he knew he would never forget his time in the Fey & Co Law Offices, when he was Mia's understudy. He hoped that if she could see him from above, she'd be proud of what he was doing. But right now, he had a phone call to make if he didn't want to be told off by his wife-to-be…
I better call Iris… I know what happens when she worries about me…
He dialed his girlfriend's number and the phone started ringing. After a while, Iris picked up:
"My love? It's me, I just left the office, so I'll be there in twenty minutes I think."
"Alright, Trucy's already back so we'll wait for you together. I love you Feenie.", she told Phoenix.
"I love you too, bye.", Phoenix ended the call and got moving.
