Chapter 2:
I was walking in search of 'campfires' feeling the sand under my feet and the crash of the waves. It was very calming to listen to. Back and forth, I could feel the tide slowly rising higher every second. Every little centimeter gained I could feel. It was becoming high tide. I was so focused on the waves that I didn't even notice the huge bonfire located in the wooded area to my left.
I thought I could hear people singing, maybe it was just my imagination. But as I got closer the voices got louder. They were singing about a hero or something. Assuming this was where I was supposed to be, I approached the 30-40 people sitting around the bonfire. Not really looking where I was going, I tripped and fell forward, somehow landing in the middle of the circle about a foot from the fire.
Abruptly, everyone stopped singing and looked at me. Some had confusion evident on their faces, other were looking at me in disgust. I awkwardly stood up and brushed myself off. A male voice filled with wisdom asked, "who are you, my dear?" I turned to look at the voice only to nearly pass out in shock. Standing there was a man with a bow and quiver wrapped around his upper torso, but beneath his stomach where his legs should have formed appeared to be a horse half? In an elegant grey-white. I quickly recovered and said, "Hello, uhh my name is Percisis Jackson but umm most people call me Perci. Oh yeah, I'm also the daughter of Poseidon." everyone looked bored up until I said 'Poseidon' many people gasped, looked up in shock, or fell of their chairs.
In the distance I heard a huge thunderclap followed by a distant wave. I suddenly realized who I was speaking to, Chiron the centaur teacher of heroes. Chiron spoke quickly, "are you sure child?" before I could answer several people gasped and started to kneel. Chiron spoke calmly, "Poseidon, Earthshaker, storm bringer, father of horses. Hail Percisis Jackson, Daughter of the Sea God."
As everyone stood up Chiron said, "come child, we must speak." I started walking alongside him to get away from the other people. I looked at him before asking, "yes?" he asked what I knew the truth about the world. Understanding what he meant I told him everything Hermes had told me. When he asked where I got this information, he seemed shocked to learn that Hermes had told me. He showed me to a gray stone cabin imbedded with seashells.
After explaining how I would be living in my new cabin, he asked, "Perci, do you know of any other daughters of Poseidon?" after a quick memory search in all my past history classes I said no. He sighed and said, "that is because there has never been a demigod daughter of Poseidon, ever." he gave me a look that seemed almost pitiful? That was the end of the discussion, clearly. He bade me goodnight and left without saying another word.

For the next 2 years I fell into a routine of getting up, learning about monsters, sword fighting, rock wall climbing, and everything in-between. Shortly after I came to camp a girl with electric blue eyes and black hair, came to camp. She had made it across with a little girl while a guy named Luke with blonde hair fought back an army of hellhounds. As he died his father (I would later learn was Hermes) turned him into a tall oak tree with white leaves.
The older girl I later learned was named Thalia and she was a daughter of Zeus, the king of the sky. The other girl was a daughter of Athena, goddess of wisdom, I think her name was Annabelle or something? Anyway, I was able to become skilled with my sword, which I would later find out was called Anaklusmos or Riptide. Although I didn't mind the name it didn't seem to suit the sword very well so I renamed it Purewater or KatharĂ³ nerĂ³ in Greek.
As soon as I said its name the engraving changed and I felt a rush of energy enter my body. It felt like I could run a mile without breaking a sweat. As I recapped it the pen started glowing and changing shape to a bracelet held together with a miniature trident symbol. When I snapped my fingers, my sword appeared in my hand and it reversed itself once I did it again. I didn't think much of it until I was in a sword fight in capture the flag. As I struck downwards towards the enemy my sword turned to water went through his sword which he was using to block and became solid once again on the other side of the blade.
I quickly disarmed him and marveled at my sword's new ability. One day a few months after I turned 10, Chiron asked if I would take a quest. I asked for some time to think about it. On one hand I can finally see if my training paid off, on the other hand wherever I went I was bound to attract lots of monsters. After taking a day off to think about it I confidently told Chiron I was ready to take the quest.
We walked to the big house and once Chiron, Mr. D (the camps local alcoholic), and the rest of the cabin heads had gathered I climbed the steps to the attic. It was very dark and musty and filled with what appeared to be spoils of war. I saw a hydra head, and some other body parts of monsters, but the creepiest thing was a mummy of a female covered in beads sitting on a stool near the back of the attic. I approached the Spirit of Delphi. "O' Oracle tell me what I seek" I said nervously. The Oracle stood up and opened its mouth filling the room with green smoke. You shall travel to the land of the lotus with 1 other. 1 will be lost in the fabled gambling city, while the other will suffer a fatal blow. None shall return until years later with a demigod of high power. However, the dead will not stay dead. (a/n as you can tell I suck at poetry, maybe as much as Apollo).
As the oracle sat back down, I walked downstairs in a trance. They all looked at me when I entered the room. I sat down and started crying unable to stop the tears. No matter who I take on the quest they will die or be lost. It was a suicide mission. Chiron put a comforting hand on my back while Thalia hugged me (we had gotten quite close over the years). Once I was done, I told them the whole thing. After hearing me finish they all looked very grim. The only one who was smiling was a child of Ares who had a grin on his face. (a/n Clarisse is not at camp yet or old enough to be cabin head). When no-one volunteered to go, we put up a poll on who wanted to go. After much debate, the girl that came with Thalia was decided. Her name was Annabeth.
That night it would be decided that I would leave tomorrow morning. I grabbed my sea-green backpack and put some drachmas and mortal money in along with a canteen of nectar and a bag full of ambrosia squares. I really didn't have anything else I needed so I went to bed early hoping to get a good night of rest. I did not fall asleep until early morning the next day. Getting a few fitful hours of rest. Only one thing was certain, we would not return for a long time.
