*Few Months Later*
No One's POV
"Elskan," Elijah purrs lightly, his body weight sitting down on the side of the bed before finally resting beside his mate in their bed, his fingers trailing along her spine in circles.
Mornings at the Caldwell Estate were, more often than not, a rather calm and domestic affair yet could also be a chaotic and whirlwind like situation, so very often, Elijah and Brooklyn got time to themselves before the chaos descended.
"Hmm?" Brooklyn stirs, blinking awake under the low sunlight that casts through the blinds in their bedroom at the Caldwell Estate.
"How are you feeling this morning?" He questions, his lips gently ghosting along her neck.
"I will always miss him, 'Lijah." Brooklyn tells Elijah with a small sigh, understanding the unasked question; even though it had been a few months, Brooklyn still felt the loss of Niklaus and his betrayal like a wound that would not quite heal. "But I love you." Brooklyn shifts in the bed to turn and look at Elijah. "I'm yours." She smiles.
"And I am yours." Elijah replies, leaning in to kiss his mate.
Brooklyn and Aaron's grandfather, Robert, sat at the head of the table, casually flipping through a newspaper, Aaron waiting for his sister and Elijah to come down for breakfast, Finn already sitting at the table as well, and the food laid out in a grand display.
The front door bursts open, several pack members rowdily tromping in, a few shouting and clamoring over each other as if to be heard, while a few others wrestle as if in some unfinished argument.
"Hey!" Brooklyn shouts, walking downstairs with Elijah, both in step with each other. "What is this, high school? Or some frat house?" She questions with a sharp voice.
"It's nothing." One of the wolves dismisses.
"This is my pack. That makes it my business." Brooklyn inflects sharply as she moves downstairs and towards the table to sit, Elijah already pulling out her seat for her, claiming his own as if nothing was amiss as the Alpha Wolf pack were jostling around him; this merely another morning occurrence.
"If you're going to act like a bunch of wolves, then do it outside." Brooklyn barks out, her Alpha voice leaking into her tone subtly, as she gestures to the yard, making her pack cow slightly under her orders.
"Waffles?" Elijah questions to his mate as he offers the plate to her.
"Sure." She smiles at Elijah. "Good morning, grandfather. Aaron, Finn." She finally turns to her family.
"Finn, be a dear and grab my cell phone for me?" She questions to the eldest Original as it vibrates slightly from one of the end tables in the living room.
"Kol?" Brooklyn answers, looking more than a little surprised at the caller ID flashing across her screen; it wasn't that they didn't talk, per say, it was just that she would have suspected, out of the two other Originals she still talked to, Rebekah would be the one calling.
"Hello Little Wolf Queen, did you miss me?" Kol answers cheerfully back.
"Maybe a little, Kol." Brooklyn tells the youngest brother. "So, is something the matter?"
"Does something need to be the matter for me to call my favorite sister?" Kol teases.
"I'm not your sister-"
"Yet…" Kol interrupts with more than a little glee to his tone. "Until stuffy ol'Lijah man's up and asks you to marry him, that is… But that's not what I'm calling about… In fact, everything's great! Just on my way to Mystic Falls… I've got a Hunter's arm to saw off… I mean, I could just kill him… But Jeremy's sort of my friend…"
"Wait, what?" Brooklyn questions, left a bit flabbergasted. "Maybe you should explain from the beginning…"
