Chapter 2

"ENOUGH!" A voice rose above the mayhem in the Potter home, "Let him go." The voice threatened, and Sirius and James opened their mouths but one look at the Headmaster of Hogwarts they released the blond wizard. "Her too." The red headed witch was released, and rushed into her husband's arms.

"Sir, you can't be serious. These two claim to be from the future and won't share any information. We should toss them back to Voldemort before they learn anything else from us. They should not be here." James snapped at the elderly wizard.

"They could be spies, attempting to gain information." Sirius growled.

"Contain yourselves, please," Dumbledore held a hand up to James and Sirius.

"If you send us to Voldemort you will sentencing us to death!" Rose argued. "Please. We are on your side."

"Why should we believe you?" Lily snarled.

"Enough." Dumbledore spoke again. "We are still investigating the situation to the best of our ability."

"We can trade him for Billius Prewett." James argued.

"Trade!? He isn't a pawn in some game. He is a human just like you." Rose snapped glaring at the messy black haired man in glasses.

"Billius is one of us, if we can get him back by trading your so called husband we should." Sirius growled.

"Absolutely not! That's horrible and who knows what they would do to him! You can't." Rose argued, while Scorpius remained oddly silent.

"I'm not stupid. None of you trust me because I am a Malfoy. I get it. I do. So if you a need a pawn to trade you can trade me. Just please, keep my wife safe. If she steps foot in that Manor... they will torment and kill her." Scorpius spoke calmly, "I'll go as long as I have a promise that she is safe. Please, keep her safe."

"Stop it! You aren't going." Rose argued.

"If the young man is willing to trade places for Billius-" Dumbledore was cut off.

"You can't agree to this!" Rose cried.

"Mrs. Malfoy, you must understand that we must take precautions. If they will accept Scorpius in trade of Billius we will be saving one of-" Dumbledore spoke.

"One of us. Scorpius is as much one of us as you are. He carries their name not their belief-" Rose argued back at the headmaster.

"One of our people is captured and being tortured. We have a way to save them." Lily argued.

"Rose, please." Scorpius begged. "Please. They don't trust me here. It'd be better if i go." His eyes locked onto his wife before they dropped to his feet. "I want her protected. I want an unbreakable vow that she will be protected by the Order. Only then will I go."

"Unbreakable vow!? No." Sirius growled.

"Fine." James growled out offered his hand, which was taken by Scorpius.

"Scor-" Rose started but Dumbledore rose his wand and the thin white light wrapped around the entwined hands of James Potter and Scorpius Malfoy.

"Will you, James Potter, watch over my wife, Rose Minerva Malfo, and ensure her safety with the Order until we are able to go home to our own time?" Scorpius spoke the words cooly ans carefuly.

"I will."

"And will you, to the best of your ability protect her from harm?"

"I will. Will you Scorpius Malfoy hold the secrets of the Order so long as you are in Death Eater care?" James asked, glaring at the Blond, who glared back.

"I will."

The light paused and pressed into the pair's skin, forming a distinctive X mark across the back of their hands and over their thumbs. The light disappeared into their skin and they released each other. "Scor-"

"Rose, you'll be safe here. With them, they can keep you safe." He gently kissed her her forehead before looking to Dumbledore. "When do you need me?"

"Dawn." Was all the Headmaster said quietly before disappearing into another room and then leaving the premises.

The room fell eerily quiet James and Scorpius stared at each other for a long moment before Scorpius excused himself from the room and headed to the guest room where Rose and him had been told was their room. He heard footsteps follow him up the steps and when he entered his room he saw his wife follow behind him the door clicked shut and he watched as she flicked her qand over the door... a silencing charm. "Why would you agree to that!?" The woman who held his heart and soul cried.

"I-"

"No! You know they will force you to give information and if you do you will die!" She cried, "They will kill you if they know you are from the future!"

"Rose, I made the deal to ensure you would be safe. Trust me. I can play my family and the Death Eaters." He wrapped her into a hug. "You know the old Enchantments on the Manor, if I get there before Voldemort does I can possibly sway my grandparents to my side, and to not open their home to him." He knew the Malfoy Manor had Enchantments to protect the family from anyone who is not in their family and anyone who means harm to the family. Of course with that he knew the safest place for his wife would probably be in a room in the Manor, but at the same time that was just as dangerous. He knew all the spells that were on the Manor, and he really didn't want to leave Rose where he could not personally keep her safe.

"Don't go. Please. Please don't go." Her arms tightened around him. His one hand was at the nape of her neck and his fingers entangled in her hair while the other was wrapped around her waist, keeping her close and pressed against him. He felt her burried her head into his neck and he pulled her even closer into him.

The second Scorpius was able to slip away from Rose he made it downstaids and searched for James, finding the wizard in the Dinning Room. He sat down across from the Wizard who was currently eating a piece of pie. "The Manor has Enchantments so anyone who is not family or who means harm to the Malfoy family can't get in. The Enchantments are to protect the family, and while I could get her into the Manor and into a room... there is no way I could guarantee her safety. I appreciate you taking the vow to protect her."

"Where are you going with this, Malfoy?" James asked, looking up from the paper as he took another bite of pie.

"James. She's my soulmate. I know you're going to laugh. But you know as well as I do that you and Lily are soulmates too. You are a Stag. Her Patronus is a Doe. You were meant for each other. I know you know what i am talking about when I say if something happens to me... please keep her safe." Scorpius' face was sad as he spoke, "You know as well as I do the Death Eaters are using torturous tactics and even using the Imperious."

"If you're sent after her..." James watched the blond man across from him.

"I am forced to harm her because of the Imperious... please. Do what must be done to protect her. Even if it means you have to kill me." Scorpius spoke.

"If she is truly your soulmate... she'll know when you are injured. Your emotions. She'll know your intention to kill or harm her." James spoke and Scorpius nodded.

"She'll also know if I am killed..." Scorpius spoke quietly watching the man in front of her.

"Not many Witches and Wizards find their Soulmate, let alone allow their relationship to grow to that point. it's very old magic, Scorpius." James spoke quietly, but knowingly. "Lily was confused when the connection started between us in our sixth year. I had to explain it to her and she didn't believe me. Our connection snapped at one point, because she wouldn't talk to me for weeks as she refused to believe I didn't cast a spell on her. She eventually started talking to me again and I have a feeling Remus had something to do with it. It's a blessing and a curse, I don't know what I will do when we grow old and if she goes before me. I can't imagine what it would be like without Lily."

Scorpius' heart sank knowing their fates and the pain that poor Lily would be in in her final moments, knowing her husband was dead and she was next. "The connection started the summer before our fifth year. It has grown now, and I can't imagine life without her. But knowing I hurt her... I don't think I could ever forgive myself."

James nodded. "If I know you are out to hurt her I will protect her to the best of my ability. You have my word."

Scorpius wrapped his wife tighter into his arms, he had to leave the Potter home in one hour to meet with Dumbledore, Shacklebolt, James and Sirius and what they were told was going to be a meeting with a handful of Death Eaters to trade him for Billius Prewett. He lifted his arm as Rose rolled over, curling up into his chest and inhaling deeply. "Rose, I have to get ready." His voice was soft and sad.

He knew the risks of what was to come. But he was terrified. He was terrified that he would put her at risk. He was terrified he would do something to harm her or his unborn child. He was terrified that Voldemort would find out about his wife and unborn child. He was terrified they would not be able to get back home... and he knew they had until October 31st, 1983 before Voldemort would disappear for 14 years. They had four years and a couple months before that would happen. Until then he knew this was possibly the last he would see his wife unless they found a way to go home to their time. "You don't have to go." He heard her mumble.

"I do, Rosie. I have to go. I have to go to keep you safe." He whispered, pressing his lips to the top of her head as silent tears rolled down his cheeks. "I have to keep you and our baby safe. This is the best way to do it. I will know what they are up to if I am there and I have a better chance of keeping you safe."

"I don't want you to go though." Rose cried, and he could feel his heart breaking and he could feel she was heartbroken.

"I promise I will send a patronus whenever I can." He said quietly, unentangling himself from his wife and started getting ready. He watched as Rose was getting dressed as well. He turned to her and wrapped her into a hug, "I promise I will send a patronus whenever I can, okay?" He kissed her before he leaned to her stomach, which had yet to start showing that she was pregnant. "If all goes well I'll be there when you are ready to come into this world." He spoke to her belly before standing again and kissing her.

Scorpius stood quietly with James on his left and Sirius on his right. Dumbledore stood beside Sirius and Shacklebolt stood beside James as they awaited the Death Eaters in the Forest of Dean. Five loud cracks and Five Death Eaters stood before them with one Billius Prewett. Scorpius tried to figure out who was behind the masks but his guess was as good as anyone else.

"You said you had a Malfoy?" A man spoke and Scorpius recognized the voice of his Grandfather and his heart sank.

"We will release him when you release Billius Prewett." Dumbledore spoke. The Death Eater who Scorpius knew to be his Grandfather, Lucius, waved a hand and Billius was shoved toward them. Scorpius felt a shove on his shoulder from Sirius and he slowly moved forward until he stood in front of his Grandfather. The masked Malfoy grabbed the other and with a Crack the pair were gone and Scorpius' feet hit hardwood floor of the Drawing Room of the Manor. The only room that a Malfoy could disapparate in or out of inside the Manor.

A wand was at his throat and took note that there were only two people in the room. Narcissa and Lucius. "Who. Are. You?" Lucius growled.

"My name is Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy. I am from the year 2026 and was thrown into this time period when a spell backfired while we were in the process of finishing off the Filthy Blood Traitor Wealseys and Potters." Scorpius forced his voice to fill with hatred.

"Why should we believe you?" Lucius snarled.

"Because your future son raised me," Scorpius snarled back, holding himself in the same confident aggressive stance as his Grandfather. "I have platinum blond hair like all Malfoys before me. I know all the enchantments on this Manor, and am the living Heir to this Manor and the Malfoy Fortune." He snarled. That seemed to do the trick as Lucius lowered his wand, as did Narcissa.

Narcissa studied him carefully then reached out to hold his right hand. "You took an unbreakable vow... why?" Lucius' eyes narrowed.

"I had to. To ensure my wife's safety in my time I had to take it." Scorpius' expression remained stoney like he had been taught to do since he was a boy until he was eleven... and even then any time the Malfoy family held a function for the Pureblood Families he donned his stoney expression.

"Why would you need to take an unbreakable vow to ensure your wife's safety? You are supposed to keep her safe at all times." Lucius growled. "Your a Malfoy. Your wife is your prize possession and should be treated like the Queen she is."

"I treat her like my Queen. I felt her safety was at risk when we had to break out half of the faithful Death Eaters from Azkaban. So enlisted one of the Zambini Boys to protect her from the filthy Order." Scorpius snarled. "Don't question me regarding my wife." He stood facing his Grandfather ready for a duel if needed.

"Was she with you when the spell went wrong?" Narcissa asked, clearly worried.

"No. She was at the Manor... or should have been at the Manor with Zambini." Scorpius lied, and he found it far easier than he thought it would be to lie to them.

Rose had been moved from the Potter home to the Weasley's Burrow the second Scorpius left with Sirius and James. She sat quietly at the table with Molly across from her. "You okay, Dear?" Molly asked, her face held far less wrinkles than she remembered, her hair no longer grey, and her eyes held a youthful spark.

"I guess I'm alright..." Rose mumbled. Before looking at Molly with a sudden Idea. "I need a sheet of parchment, an envelope, a quil, and ink, please."

Molly hesitated but got uo and found the requested items. Rose shook as she wrote out her letter. However instead of addressing the enveloped she wrote: Open in June 2026. Rose carefully sealed the letter into the envelope and then casted a spell, binding the envelope closed until the designated date. "I have to put this somewhere ... I know!" She darted to the clock and smiled and opened the main door to the ticking hand and fastened the envelope to the top, hidden from the eye, but she knew her grandmother had cleaned it on the 19th before the attack, which means it would be found in June of 2026.
