Hi, it has been quite a while since I have posted anything in the Naruto fanfiction section. This is just a

little thing I did. Is a story that coincides with an older fiction piece " The Hyuuga Father Special.

2 weeks since the last visit.

Hiashi sits in the chair with his arms crossed seeming deep in thought.

" So…" The therapist began. " You told her about her mother?"

" Hai…." Hiashi said.

" What did she say?"

" She told me it wasn't my fault."

" I figured she would say something like that. Because it wasn't your fault. To be honest, I'm happy you told her. You had been carrying that around for so long and now you've finally gotten that off your chest."

Hiashi nodded.

" So, now that Hinata knows and from what I can tell hasn't changed her opinion about you. What now?"

Hiashi took a deep breath. " You were right…."

" About what?" She asked,

" I don't want to push Hinata away. I do want to keep her close. But I can't be the father to her I once was. On top of that she is still consistently looked down upon by most of the clan."

" Now you've said before that soon after the first time she took the Chuunin exam you were noticing big improvements in her fighting ability. On top of that she's a Chuunin now. Wouldn't the clan also see that? Doesn't that matter to them?"

" That means nothing to them…." Hiashi looked down with a bit of shame. " That day she lost in the courtyard they labeled her permanently."

She looked at Hiashi with a bit of sympathy. " Your clan…tough crowd."

" Mind you, there are a few in the clan whom I trust being around her. But not many." Hiashi said.

" And you cant tell them to lay off because it will make you look sentimental which I'm guessing is also looked down upon." She said. " I can see how hard it is for you to be a father publicly. Every decision you make seems to be under a microscope. Like every mistake is an announcement to the world."

" That is how it has always been for the head." Hiashi said. " That's why my father never tolerated weakness from me, or Hizashi for that matter."

" Let's talk about that, your father. After Hizashi had the curse mark put on him your father still made you train together?"

" Yes."

" How were your father's training methods?"

Hiashi took a deep breath

(((((Flashback)))))

A 7 year old Hiashi is sparring with his brother Hizashi as their father and other Hyuuga members watched. Hiashi was on the offensive which caused Hizashi to stumble back and fall. Hiashi stopped and offered his hand to his brother to help him up. As Hizashi was about to reach up to take it, Hiashi's hand was slapped away by his father who then got between them facing Hiashi. Hiashi looked up a his father confused when suddenly his found his father's palm slammed against him. Hiashi hit the floor with a loud thud and rolled a few times. He clutched his stomach writhing in agony as fluid gushed from his mouth. His father began walking over to him as Hizashi watched in horror.

" Painful isn't it?" His father said walking up. " One of the nastier techniques of our clan. The diaphragm rapidly contracts an expands several times over, giving the victim a taste of Hell."

Hiashi was now staying to remain stationary and make his breaths as shallow as possible which was difficult with all the coughing. His father stood beside him. " Remember this pain well Hiashi. Remember it every time you show leniency to the cadet branch. Because doing so invites your demise. Yes, even if it's your own brother."

Regardless of the hellacious pain he was in, Hiashi was still able to hear his father. As he walked away a Hyuuga maiden was rushing to Hiashi's side.

" Leave him!" His father demanded causing the maiden to shrink back. " Let him conquer his own pain." The Hyuuga then took their leave as Hiashi struggled to recover from the attack. Hizashi stood up slowly and seemingly was going to walk over to aid his brother until the maiden collected him and walked him out the door with her. Hiashi and Hizashi locked eyes with each other out of concern.

Days later….

Hiashi and Hizashi were sparring again, however it was far more intense as their father watched on. It seemed to have gotten to the point where they had bloodied eachothers noses. It was then that Hiashi landed a side kick that put Hizashi down to the ground. They looked at each other, anger evident in their eyes. Hiashi stomped his foot into his brothers midsection.

" Enough!" Their father said.

Hiashi walked away as Hizashi pulled himself up seemingly coming after him. That was when he clutched his head in agony dropping to the ground. Hiashi watched in horror and then looked over at his father who had his hand sign up activating the seal.

"Hizashi, just as I gave your brother a lesson to learn, here is yours. You can never act out in anger against the main branch. It is your job to protect it, both of you have your destinies to follow."

Hiashi looked down at his brother in horror.

(((((End Flashback)))))

The therapist paused for a few moments to let this sink in. In her line of work she had dealt with many shinobi with past trauma. It was not uncommon to have a rough upbringing given the nature of the profession. But she had never heard a story of siblings being pitted against each other in such a fashion.

" And after that…how was your relationship with Hizashi?"

" We didn't have one." Hiashi put bluntly.

"….I see….and where was your mother during all this?"

" My mother…she was present…and at the same time not. She never reacted to what my father was doing, I didn't know if she agreed with his methods or just didn't have the courage to defy him. Or perhaps decided to remain an obedient wife. She said nothing….ever."

" and that bothers you….." She asked.

Hiashi grunted " It would have been nice to know if she cared ANYTHING for me and my brother! But she always just stood there!"

Hiashi regained his composure. " At first I thought my father made me strong growing up."

"But now looking back?" She asked.

" I think he made more…well in laments terms, an ass hole." Hiashi beside himself not knowing a more appropriate term to use.

" I see " She nodded.

" But…when I met my wife…things were becoming much better. I was becoming much better. She was kind and loving but at the same time was not afraid to tell me I was wrong."

" Go on…." She said.

" I felt at most at ease when around her. When Hizashi…sacrificed himself, she helped me in dealing with the guilt. It was her idea to take in Neji and look after him as our own."

" What stopped that from happening?"

" Neji resented the main branch so badly. He wanted to remain within the branch family walls. I was pretty much the last person on the planet he wanted to see. But my wife was always making an effort to reach out to him. She didn't want to force it upon him, she wanted to make it so he would come around of his own will."

" Wow…" She said.

" If she had had more time…I'm sure she would have turned him around. Despite his hatred for the main branch. But…before she could…"

" I see." The therapist said.

" After she died, I took it upon myself to instruct Neji to come train with Hinata and I. I ended up doing the exact opposite of what she wanted. I wanted to make it work, but I ended up hurting him and deepened his hatred for the main branch."

Hiashi brought his hand to his mouth.

" When Hinata was born I told myself I'd never be like my father. But in the end I feel I turned out exactly like him."

" I don't think so…" She said.

" What do you mean?"

" Well, you're working hard to bring the clan closer together. Something your father didn't try to do. You married someone had the courage to speak her mind to you, you could have just married a wife who would have just been obedient but you didn't want that. You love both your daughters and you personally don't favor one over the other unlike what your father did between you and Hizashi. You've made it clear to Hinata you still love her, I'm sure just like you she's well aware of the politics in your clan and has an understanding of your position."

She continued "And eventually you did take in Neji, and are teaching him the best way you know. Something I'm sure your wife would be happy about."

" I think you're doing much better than you believe you are. Certainly better than your father."
