Remus thought to tell the rest of the Marauders what she said but decide not to so he wouldn't be attacked with questions.
Hermione went straight to the Headmasters office. As she walked towards it, she realised that she did not know the password for his office. Lost in her thoughts, she bumped into him along the way and he led her inside.
Sirius POVDamn it. The door just closed on us. Damn it. Who is this girl? Why is she here? Remus knows something that he won't tell us, maybe what the girl said. I am going to ask Moony in the Common Room later and if he doesn't want to be pranked, he better answer it. Is this girl getting sorted? Hope she is in Gryffindor so I can ask her more questions. Wait a second. Who is she going to stay with for the holidays? Is her parents alive? Or dead? I'm going to ask Prongs later.
General POV
Hermione entered his office, it was circular and she could see Fawkes, his plumage bright red and orange. She told Dumbledore that her parents have died due to Death Eaters and she was home-schooled. She also told him that she had completed her O.W.Ls, telling him her scores. Dumbledore had tried Legilimency on her but her shields were strong. She took the Sorting Hat and placed upon her head at Dumbledores command.
'Interesting mind, Miss Granger. We have of course met before or in this case after. You would do well in Hufflepuff with your loyalty or perhaps Slytherin with your cunning plans. No, no, no, you would be better suited in GRYFFINDOR!'
Sighing in relief, she took the Hat off her head and placed it on the desk.
"Now, back to business Miss Clarke, you need to stay somewhere for the summer as your parents have sadly passed away. Perhaps you would do well in the household of Lupin. Yes, yes that should do, you will be staying with Mr Lupin. I shall floo his parents and call him. As you leave, please collect the money pouch for you from the Hogwarts funds and collect Mr Lupin and take him here. I will send you an owl for our next meeting Miss Clarke.
Hermione left his office, thinking about staying in Remus's house. She had a tiny little crush on him but she pushed aside when they were doing classwork. Lost in her memories, she remembered a day in her 3rd year when Remus muttered to himself "Hermione looks so much like Clarke." She had thought back then he had a crush on a girl when he was younger but now realised that she was Clarke, but she pushed it aside not wanting to risk a friendship for something she had dreamed about.
Marauder POV
The Marauders had watched her leave the office and went back to tailing her. They had decided to reveal themselves from under the cloak, just acting like usual passer-bys. But they could not shake from their minds that horrified and scared look in her eyes when she saw them all. Sirius went out first, being the confident and cocky boy he was.
"Hey Clarke, how you doing?"
Clarke jumped in surprise, that amused him.
"Who are you? How did you know where I was? Were you following me?" said Clarke in a guarded tone.
" God, no. I just saw you and you seemed lonely so I started this lovely conversation with you. Is that illegal?" said Sirius, his trademark smirk on his face.
She had started to get really irritated and agitated. She looked up at him and suddenly tears started forming in her eyes.
What did I do to this girl for this to happen? wondered Sirius. Of course, the Marauders watched in silence, they saw her tears leaving marks upon her porcelain, pale face. She swivelled her head around, seemingly searching for something. Then her eyes rested on them for a moment. Then she swivelled her head back to Sirius.
"Do you know where Lupin is?"said Clarke quietly.
Remus was shocked. Why would she want him? Was it something to do with Dumbledore?
Hermione POVBefore Sirius started to talk to her, she knew the corridor was empty with nobody in it. But the moment Sirius talked to her, she knew the rest of them were here in the Invisibility Cloak. She knew. She knew where they were when she had passed a certain area and Sirius visibly tensed up. She walked away, knowing that he would not reply. She went to her safe refuge, the place she went when she was down. The library. She went there because the books comforted her, for they never took anything from her, they only gave her information and knowledge and never ever did they make her burst into tears.
