I wanted to publish this two days ago but I am somewhat busy since just the previous week the Covid-19 was detected uncontrolled in my country and we were preparing everything.

Also on Saturday, there was a problem with the light service and I couldn't finish correcting the chapter.

Yesterday I was looking for provisions to pass the quarantine that was decreed and god, it is horrible what you have to wait to buy something.

But hey, here is the chapter finally

Chapter 1: A bad day

1548,Spring

Rome, Lazio Region, Papal States

A teenager sleeps lazily in a wagon car, his loud and certainly annoying snoring, fortunately, could not be heard due to all the straw around him.

He slept on a small table that served as a seat and it seemed that he would not wake up unless an external force forced him.

"Son !, we're here" someone shouted out of the car.

The teenager did not even flinch, it was practically a stone ... a stone that snored very annoyingly.

Suddenly, a braking threw the young man to the ground of the wagon causing him to wake up suddenly.

"For the love of God, Fabrizio, I've been asking you to get up for minutes and you continue to behave like this," answered the man who appeared seconds later in the wagon, a man with short black hair and green eyes, of average height and somewhat thin.

Fabrizio who was practically a reproduction of his father answered scratching his head from the blow "I know father, I just wanted to sleep 5 more minutes"

"You said that at dawn and more than an hour has passed!" answered his father as he watched him from outside the wagon "Move now, every minute you spend there we lose money"

Resigned, Fabrizio got up from the floor, cleaned the straw and went outside, in addition to the mercenaries hired by his father and the other wagons with merchandise, in front of them he could also see the magnificent city of Rome, the "Città Eterna".

"What are you waiting for? Come here!" shouted his father who was getting into the front of the wagon.

Fabrizio quickly ran over to his father, "You don't have to yell at me"

"I do it because you never listen" his father objected while Fabrizio settled to one side of him

"Give me an example?" asked the teenager confidently

"The last month in Florence or maybe three weeks ago in Siena," said his father sighing "I can tell you more examples if you want"

There was an awkward silence for a few seconds, the two exchanged glances, Fabrizio with a slightly uncomfortable smile and his father with a face of total dissatisfaction.

The tension was broken when the older of the two gave the order to advance towards the "Holy City".

Alnus Hill, Falmart, Saderan Empire

The long hair of the Legatus Azelanius protruded from its helmet as he anxiously awaited the opening of the "Gate".

His legion, the XII "Knappai", waited with the XI and XIII for the "Gate" to open, allowing them to advance towards the new world.

As he watched as his soldiers who had abandoned their bags after days of marching with utensils to carry only their instruments of war, a messenger on horseback approached him.

"I have a message from the Consul Godian" said the messenger quickly

"What happens"

"As part of the main assault force you have been given command of two Wyverns Squadrons, use them wisely and may Hardy's blessing fall on your men," said the messenger.

Azelanius was somewhat surprised by this, normally the Wyvern Corp was under the sole command of the Consul in charge, and in case of granting a Legatus, they could only have command of a single Squadron.

"For me, it is an honor to be a creditor of this responsibility and I will do everything in my charge not to disappoint the Consul Godian or the Empire," he replied proudly.

Just a thunderous sound caught the attention of everyone including Azelanius, the time had come.

As it had been coordinated between the three legions and Godian, the auxiliaries were the first to march, the auxiliary battalions advanced towards the Gate while the Ogres made the front line in case of confrontation.

When the first battalion of auxiliaries crossed the "Gate", many Saderans crossed their fingers, it took a few arduous minutes for an officer commanding one of the battalions of auxiliaries to appear at the Gate.

"It is safe to move forward" he shouted impetuously

The order was clear, victory was on the other side and Azelanius and the other two Legatus gave the order to advance to the three legions, the first three legions to have the honor of being the first to set foot in the new world.

Rome, Lazio Region, Papal States

Inside a shop, Fabrizio watched from a corner as his father tried to convince a shopkeeper that his merchandise was of quality and that he could resell it at a good price.

He wasn't paying much attention, preferring to focus on seeing what the shop had or thinking about what they would eat at noon.

It didn't take long for him to get bored, he looked up and saw both men having a heated business discussion.

"I am telling you, these fabrics are the best you can get, made by the magnificent weavers of Flanders, difficult to obtain due to the war, I still do not understand how you do not accept this magnificent deal!" Fabrizio listened to those words that came out of his father's mouth.

The shopkeeper carefully examined the fabric while smiling, "There are better fabrics for a lower price," he replied before throwing the fabric in his face.

"What the hell are you saying?" he replied without understanding the merchant's laughter

"You ask too much for your" famous Flanders fabric", it may not even be that good, I have achieved better things for less" replied the merchant crossing his arms.

"You do not know what you are missing when you see the gains that another will obtain for this piece you will regret having rejected me," he said threateningly

"You know, I'm getting bored, I fell asleep in the middle of your speech about your magnificent product so if you don't leave my shop I will use this little friend of mine" he answered maliciously while holding a wheellock pistol and looking at the sheathed sword of Fabrizio's father "Before that you unsheathe you will have a nice hole in your head "

Fabrizio opened his eyes to see that artifact, he had heard of the power of firearms but had never seen one in action.

"What are you waiting to leave my shop?" insisted the shopkeeper

"Okay, okay" replied his father dejectedly as he took the fabric he was using as a sample and headed out of the shop "Fabrizio, let's go"

Fabrizio nodded and walked to the door with his father, the teenager was preparing to leave until his father's hand prevented him from leaving.

"What happens?" he asked his father who seemed motionless

"Something is happening outside, people are running," replied he

A few seconds passed before the shopkeeper replied again "What are you waiting to leave my store now!"

Father and son did not respond, Fabrizio's father suddenly pushed his son back causing the shopkeeper to get upset and aim his gun at both of them.

"What the hell is wrong with both of you, leave my shop you damn scammers!" scream furious the shopkeeper

"Something happens outside, people run while strange creatures attack them"

"Are you drunk or what, leave my store and tell your lies to another guy"

Suddenly the door of the shop was knocked down by an orc, that grotesque-looking but stocky creature carrying a large ax looked at all three while drooling.

"What the heck" the shopkeeper yelled as he stopped aiming at Fabrizio and aimed at the orc.

The orc screamed and lunged at Fabrizio's father when he saw his sword and seemed to him the most dangerous.

Fabrizio's father tried to unsheathe his sword, but his physical condition was not suitable for combat, so the ogre lunged against him, thrusting his ax in his chest.

The man screamed in pain as Fabrizio just watched in horror as his father was attacked, unsheathe out a dagger he had to defend himself and lunged at the ogre.

The ogre with a hit knocked down the teenager while he thrusting the ax again in the dying body of Fabrizio's father

A deafening sound like thunder was heard and the ogre fell to the ground dead and the ogre fell dead, Fabrizio could see the remains of brain and blood protruding from the hole in the monster's helmet.

He quickly recovered and approached his father who was constantly gushing blood from his mouth, "Father, please don't die, I'll get a doctor" he said desperately "Forgive me for what I did, I promise to be a better son and I will never disrespect you again nevermore"

Her father did not respond, babbled nonsense words as his strength drastically decreased.

"Why the fuck didn't you shoot earlier!" Fabrizio shouted to the shopkeeper who was reloading his pistol

The shopkeeper did not answer and took a harquebus from one of the shelves, "Your father is already dead, go away if you want to live"

"Damn it, help me," insisted the

"Not my problem," he said as he opened the back door of his shop

Fabrizio continued to attend to his father, crying in front of him, staining his face with his blood.

A light hand caressed his face, it was his father who with his last breath told him, "I have not been the best father in the world, but even so I have tried, I will not justify myself and possibly be punished by God,

"You are not going to die, please," Fabrizio said crying

His father shook his head "My son, Fabrizio Amalfi, you must be a better man than me, I have sinned, but I implore God that you are not punished for my actions"

Fabrizio tried to speak but his father covered his mouth with his hand "be a better man than me, be faithful to God and he will guide you on the path to eternal life".

After this, his father smiled as his skin began to turn paler and his body began to feel cold, the silence reigned inside the store and the screams from outside were simple murmurs to Fabrizio.

A strange cry was heard from the door, Fabrizio turned his head and saw a little goblin with a shield and a small ax.

Fabrizio took his father's sword, it was a Spanish rapier

Although the goblin was smaller than him, he had no idea how to use it, he was always reluctant to learn to fight so he had two options.

He wanted to fight, but if he lost, he would die right there, he wanted to live, he wanted to do many things, he wanted to see his mother and sister again, but he also did not want to abandon his father.

Fabrizio then remembered the shopkeeper's door, he was no longer in the store, but the door was unlocked, he could try to escape.

With the deepest pain, he left his father and ran with the rapier towards the door, the goblin followed him.

He went out the back door and saw large numbers of papal soldiers and mercenaries trying to stop those monsters that were invading the streets of Rome.

Fortunately they seem to have prevented the advance of the monsters by holding the bridges over the Tiber

He looked back and saw the goblin chasing him, he pointed at his father's rapier the goblin does, but a bolt pierced the small spawn's head killing him instantly.

"Hey! Aren't you Elvezio's son?" said the crossbowman who had saved his life, Fabrizio recognized him as one of the mercenaries in his father's caravan.

"Yes, it's me!" Fabrizio answered

"Where is?"

"Dead"

"mmmm, I'm sorry" replied the mercenary in a cold way "I will take you to the caravan, if you stay they will kill you"

Fabrizio looked at him with disgust, although he agreed to go

Soon other mercenaries in his father's service appeared and escorted him, all while the gunshots of harquebus and muskets along with the smell of burning fire became the usual scent.

Old Bunny Warriors Territory, Falmart , Saderan Empire

Senator Faustus gazed at the vast swath of land that once belonged to the dangerous Bunny Warriors, now under the control of his Imperial Highness, Prince Zorzal.

The blond egomaniac lover of worldly pleasures watched proudly as several hooded men recited songs and prayers while several men were placed nailed to x-shaped crosses by the prince's soldiers.

Fausto found it difficult to see the scene, to see how thousands of men like army veterans or gladiators were nailed to a large number of crossings around the hill seemed too grotesque.

"A small price to pay at the end" he always thought making his mind calm.

"Your service to the nation and especially to me will be rewarded, you and your descendants will live a good life as long as they obey my rules, it is not so difficult to be someone successful if you think about it," said Zorzal while observing his "faithful volunteers "being nailed to crosses.

The leader of those hooded men approached Zorzal "Your Highness, the ritual will be ready in a few minutes"

"Perfect, I will be glad to see my father's face when I see the successes of his heir" he said as he turned to see Faustus "Are you sure no one else knows about this?"

"Not your highness, only those of your confidence know of your plan" Faustus assured

"I will trust your words, nobody likes surprises to be revealed ahead of time"

Faustus observed the surroundings, his family was not having the best time and this was a good opportunity to strengthen his position.

Molt was already old and in any opportunity, it would be happened by Zorzal, if this goes well then his position in the empire and that of his children will be more than assured.

"Those fucking pacifists," he thought as he imagined eliminating those peace lovers from the Senate, a total waste that had been allowed by Molt.

That hooded man appeared again and confronted Zorzal and those present.

There were several nobles, many of them spoiled children or who wanted to secure their position n in the empire.

Among them are Viscount Helm and Count Formal who were the ones who contributed the most to the cause.

For Faustus, the first was an unsuccessful general attempt and the other a decrepit old man eager to fuck any demi-human.

The hill was surrounded by a small army, much smaller than Alnus' but with great ambitions from his commanders. Obviously the most prepared were Zorzal's personal legion and his imperial beasts in whom he trusted earnestly.

But an imperial army could not be complete without Wyvern, Wyverns provided by Faustus, were not many, but according to Zorzal, they would be enough to decimate the barbarians they would find.

"The legions of Alnus have already had their glory, now is the time to get ours" Zorzal shouted before starting the ceremony.

And then the crucified surroundings began to burn with flames while the hooded men began to recite songs in a strange language.

The thousands of x-shaped crosses that surrounded the plain in a circle began to burn, a new "Gate" materialized under the cries of pain of those "volunteers" in the service of the empire.

"Thanks for accepting our offering, Hardy, we promise not to disappoint you," Zorzal shouted as he laughed maniacally.

As I said at the beginning of the chapter, we are in quarantine, especially since in my city there are the most infected people in the country.

Since I can't go out and I'll be at home all day, maybe I'll post everything more often, I have to give a virtual university but the classes haven't started yet so we can say I'm on "vacation"

Reviews

Oscar Palacios:

V2 is already here

And so I decided to make a story a little different from the original one, plus I had more time to investigate.

But more importantly, I hope it is an entertaining story

hakimsohit51:

I will try to do it as soon as possible

Psycho-Kozel:

The truth when it took me a while to update the V1 was because I didn't know what I really wanted.

And to think all the time, you have to update before such a day is overwhelmed, in the end, I left the story and took my time.

Time in which I learned about many things and that I want to apply in my story, it is better to go slow and safe than fast and badly done.

Those are good ideas and I had them in mind, maybe I will do something but I won't say where it will be a surprise.

There are many possible ideas since I decided to explore a confrontation in which technology is not such a determining factor, I think there is no fic in which religion is a relevant factor from both sides, so I would like to play with that too.

javiergnzalez:

The short answer is yes

If you want to imagine how they will do it or their appearance, I have a slight inspiration from the 2014 movie Noah.

Angels are beings of light but in their earthly form, they are golems with various limbs and somewhat grotesque.

I think that would be better than putting winged humans with fire swords, something different.

Guest:

I'm glad you liked it, and yes, there will be more

ATP:

I'll keep it in mind
