Robert Redips was one of the Tide-opolis Research Facility's (TRF's) greatest scientists. Sure he wasn't really appreciated at first, but now he gets even more respect than the CEO Dr. Franklin Richardson himself. You see, back then, people thought his research was...a waste of time and resources.

Robert's obsession with spiders had led him to think that they could somehow adapt to their environment and evolve. So, he did many experiments with them to see if they would evolve in some way. But, nothing he did worked. He would then spend hours upon hours in his lab trying to think about ways to help spiders evolve.

Days would pass and Dr. Redips would still have nothing. Dr. Richardson considered firing him at one point, but if there was one thing he was good at, it was patience. And after weeks of brainstorming, Robert finally had an epiphany. If he couldn't force the spiders into evolution, then he would have to create his own instead.

So, he took the DNA of multiple different spiders, mixed them together in a machine, and created his own species of spiders. These new spiders could jump higher, crawl quicker, and create more webs than any other spider. He then went on to create multiple new species of spiders using multiple strands of DNA. And not all of them were from spiders.

Some of the DNA he used came from mammals, reptiles, and even fish. His new discovery then earned him a Nobel Prize and the respect of the many scientists who doubted him. He'd had been working on and experimenting with his spiders ever since.

Then, one day, a man wearing a long black coat, boots, gloves, and holding a briefcase came into TRF and claimed to be some sort of businessman. What was strange about this man is that despite his claim, the outfit he was wearing wasn't really suitable for your typical business person. What was even more suspicious was that he never showed his face, even while talking.

His hat was always down, his coat collar was flipped up, and his arms never left his sleeves. The man then opened his briefcase to reveal thousands of dollars worth in cash and offered to give Dr. Redips the money if he could hand over his spiders. But, Robert refused the offer and said that even if he could trust him, there was no way he would give up his spiders. The mysterious man then stormed off and before leaving said, "You'll regret this! No one says no to me!"

Of cource, everyone just took his words as just a simple threat. But, the next day, they would be proven otherwise. Robert was tending to the spiders when he got a call from the receptionist.

"Dr. Redips? Your wife is here to see you."

"Margaret?" Robert questioned. "She's supposed to be at home with our son, what is she doing here?"

"She just told me she needed to see you and that it was important."

Robert then signed and said, "Very well, Janice. Bring her up."

Robert then waited outside of his lab for his wife to come up. He then wondered what exactly it was she wanted to talk about. What could be so important that she had to visit him in person instead of calling and leave their only son to visit him at work. Of course, knowing Margaret, she probably asked his sister, Shelby, or her husband, Kyle to look after him. She's too caring to leave him home alone, even if it's just for a minutes.

Well, whatever Margaret had to talk about, Robert just hoped it wasn't anything bad. Like how he's been too busy with work to look after his family. Robert felt bad that he couldn't be the father he needed to be. He can only imagine the stress he caused Margaret by leaving her with Damien all the time.

Nothing was more important to him than his family, he just wished he could show that. Robert then saw his raven-haired, blue-eyed wife wearing her casual clothes come up the stairs and walked over to him. Robert then walked over to her and wrapped her in a bit but as she did the same in return. Robert then asked, "What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be with Damien?"

"I dropped him off at your sister's house after picking him up from school." Margaret explained. "Told her and Kyle to take care of him and that I'll only be gone a few minutes."

"Janice said you had to tell me something?"

Margaret's face then showed her anxiousness. "Er-Yes."

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine. I just...there's something that I need to get off my chest. Something that...I'm not sure how you'll feel about when I say it."

"I don't understand. Did you do something wrong?"

"Yes. No? It's...It's something I've been hiding from you for awhile now and I've felt guilty about it. And...I feel that if I continue to hide it, I'll only feel more guilty."

"Well, what is it? If you need to tell me, tell me."

"...okay. Robert, I..."

The sound of glass shattering was then heard from Robert's lab before Margaret could continue.

"Wait here." Robert told his wife before heading into the lab to see what was going on.

He then saw the mysterious businessman he met just a day before putting his spiders into a glass container and closing it with a lid.

"Hey!" Robert yelled.

The man then reacted by pulling out a revolver and shooting him, but not before Robert ducked behind one of the tables.

"You should've accepted my generous offer, Redips!" The man said. "Otherwise, I wouldn't of broke in here to steal your precious spiders. Otherwise, I wouldn't have to kill you."

Robert then heard the man's footsteps coming towards him. He then quickly and quietly crawled around the table so that he could sneak behind the man. Robert then ran up from behind, grabbed the man, and slammed him onto the table. The man then used his strength to push Robert off of him, making him fall to the ground.

"Robert?" Margaret then called out as she walked inside.

The man then reacted by shooting her in the left leg as she felt to the floor and grabbed a hold of her leg.

"Margaret!" Robert then shoved the man hard enough that the man dropped the gun and the container with the spiders inside.

The container then shattered as the spiders then started crawling away towards a nearby air vent.

"No!" The man then groaned in anger as he turned to Robert.

The man then tore off one of his gloves to reveal a green, clawed hand. He then lifted his hand as a fireball appeared above its palm. Robert then stared in horror as he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"What are you?" Robert asked.

The man then answered with a chuckle, "Your worst nightmare!"

The abnormal man then threw the fireball at Robert, only for him to duck and have the fireball hit the back wall. The wall then caught on fire as the man then slashed Robert in the stomach before heading out through the vents the way he came in. The fire alarm was then set off as several scientists were seen running out of the building. Robert then crawled over to his wife, whose blood was pouring out of her leg and onto the floor while he was holding onto his stomach which was bleeding as well.

"Rob-ert." Margaret said in a weak voice.

"Save your breath Margaret." Robert said as he turned over on his back to prevent more blood from pouring out.

Robert then reached his phone from his pocket to try and call 911 only to realize that it was dead. "Dagnabbit!" The dying scientist then threw his phone as he turned his head towards Margaret.

"Robert." She said while groaning in pain.

"Your fine, Margaret. I'm right here. I'm not leaving you."

The last thing Robert then saw was an explosion of fire destroying his lab as he and Margaret breathed their last breath.

Present Day...

Damien then landed in an alleyway not far from where he, Abby, and his Aunt Shelby loved as he started getting out of his vigilante suit to change into his civilian clothes. He started by taking off his mask to reveal his shaggy black hair, blue eyes, and Caucasian white skin. His Aunt always told him that he looked just like his mother. And she would know because she and Margaret became very close friends after meeting in college.

Damien then took off the rest of his suit as he grabbed his backpack (which he hid behind a dumpster), took out his clothes, put them on, and walked the rest of the way to his Aunt's. He then knocked on the door before a brown-haired and brown-eyed Caucasian woman who looked to be in her 40s answered. The woman then looked at Damien in frustration and said, "Damien! Where have you been? Your dinner was getting cold!"

Damien then looked at his Aunt in nervousness and said, "Didn't Abby tell you? I was stuck in traffic."

Shelby Fredericks then sighed as she hugged Damien before saying, "Whatever. What matters is that your safe. Now wait by the table while I heat up your food."

"Ok. Thanks Aunt Shelby."

Damien then sat at the dinner table next to his cousin, Abby, who was almost done with her food. Abby looked just like her mother, only younger and she didn't wear her hair in a bun. Instead, she wore it in a ponytail. Abby then looked at Damien in shame and said, "You know I hate lying to her."

Damien then looked back with the same look and said, "I know. Me neither. But we have to."

"I know we have to, but I wish we didn't. She deserves to know about what you...what we do."

"I know, but with everything that's happened to her, loosing my Dad, my Mom...your Dad, I don't think she's ready to know that her nephew is going out there and risking his life everyday. I mean, how do you think she'll react?"

Abby then paused to think for a moment before saying, "Yeah, your right. She's not ready. I just hope she'll be ready sooner than later."

Abby has always been there for me when I need it most. She's even been there when I first got my powers. When me, Abby, and the rest of our science class went on a field trip to TRF. One of Dad's old spiders bit me. I don't know where the spider came from, how it survived the fire all those years ago, I don't even know if it's the only one. But what I did know, is that spider gave me a gift.

And it was up to me to use that gift. There was a thing that Uncle Frank always said to us. "With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility." I didn't get what it meant at first. It wasn't until sometime after he died that I understood it. It means that if someone has the ability to do things, they have to do those things for the good of others.

I just wished I knew that before he died. When I first got my powers, I wanted to use them in a wrestling match to earn money. I won the match, but this jerk refused to pay me. He was then robbed, I could've stopped the thief, but I wanted revenge, so I let him go. The thief then shot Uncle Frank while he waiting for me in the car.

And that's why I became Spider-Man. To honor his memory and his lesson. I knew then that I couldn't just stand idly by while something bad is happening when I know I can do something about it. That I couldn't let anyone kill anyone else like I did with Uncle Kyle. That I must be the one to look after the city as it's vigilante.

Meanwhile At The Tide-opolis History Museum...

The museum is probably the one least-likliest place to rob. Very few attempted to rob the place. The reason being is that the place had so much security systems that only a madman like Leeroy Jenkins would attempt a robbery. That's why the guards usually slack off and sleep on the job.

They usually don't have anyone to apprehend during a robbery. So each night was very uneventful to them. But this night, however, was very different.

Someone activated the alarms, instantly waking up the guards. The guards then looked at the monitors to see that whoever activated it was in the UK exhibit. Most of them then ran out of the security room as one stayed to look at the monitors.

The guards then ran up to the UK exhibit with they're tasers in hand. At first, they saw nothing there. That was until they heard a metal clank over by the knight armor.

"Come out with your hands up!" One guard ordered whatever was behind the armor.

The guards then held up their tasers ready to fire when something unexpected happened. Other than a person, a black cat came from behind the armor, meowing at the guards.

"Awww!" A different guard said. "It's so cute!"

"False alarm, Jones. It's just a cat." The first guard then said into his walkie talkie.

"A cat? How did a cat get in there?"

"No idea, but there's not a person in sight."

"Did you see anyone else come through here little kitty? I bet you did!" The second guard then said to the cat.

"Let's just go guys." The third guard said as he put his taser away.

Back in the security room, Jones saw a little interference on the cameras.

"Uhh, guys?" Jones talked into his walkie talkie. "I think you should stay and have a look around, I'm getting a little interference here."

Jones then didn't get an answer from his team, he got nothing but static.

"Guys? Hello?"

Nothing again. Jones then got up from his seat and ran towards the UK exhibit.

"Don't you worry, little guy. I'll take good care of you." The second guard then said as he and the other two walked down the stairs.

"Can you please stop talking to it like that?" The first guard asked.

"Like what?"

"Like your its mother."

"I'll have you know that I will make a great Mother! I mean Father! I mean..."

"Guys! Go back!" Jones then said while running up the stairs.

"Jones? What're you..."

"The cameras have been hijacked! And the walkie talkies aren't working!"

The guards then realized what was going on as they ran back up the stairs.

"Stay right here, Mr Floofers." The second guard then put the cat down at the top step before heading in the exhibit with the rest.

The guards then realized that one of the glass cases there were empty. Before there had been a valuable jewel, now there's just a note saying, "Thanks for taking care of my Cutie Pie. Signed, The Black Cat."

"The jewel in there was just a fake, right?"

"We are so fired for this."

The guard who was holding the cat before realized that it was nowhere to be seen.

"Where's Mr. Floofers?"

Up on the roof mysterious a female figure with platinum blonde hair wearing a skin-tight black suit with white fur around the neck, was holding the missing jewel the guards failed to protect. The cat that was with the guards earlier was then stroking it's head against the figure's leg.

The burgler then picked up the cat before saying, "Come on, Fitz. Let's go home."

The woman then jumped from building to building trying to head to her destination.
